Gage Golden has a job to do. Unfortunately, that job now involves investigating a murder. A murder that he believes involves one of his friends. The only good part is-- maybe, finally, Gage will find the girl of his dreams. And she'll find him.
This is Book 3 in the Bedhead Series. In this one, you'll read more about Quinn and Cooke, Tayler and Luke, and the rest of the Beedle Babes. Due to coarse language and sexual content, this book is for readers 18+.
What did I just read? It started great. I was enjoying the writing, and liked what I thought was a developing romance between the main characters. By the time Gage randomly runs into Kat, the reader can pretty much figure out what's going on. I would have been ok with the ending if we had actually been given their story. I really liked Gage and I was excited for his book, but I am so disappointed in this. I will continue to read this author because I do typically like her books, but this plot twist did not work.
This book was. . .nuts. It was fine until around 90% of the way through, when it went off the rails. I'm not sure if the author just decided she was done and needed a quick way to end the book, but the plot climax was a complete surprise - and not in a clever way.
I’m invested in this story and characters, I think it’s the only reason why I’m still here. I loved Gage, I loved reading about him and finally getting his HEA.
Although I will give the author props for the twist. Definitely did not see it go there, but to have us relate and connect with a character who really wasn’t that character was just gross for me. I get that twists and turns make good stories but for this one as a reader I felt betrayed and let down.
I am a fan of this author and have read and loved MANY of her books. This book however was a huge fail. I was totally confused as to why the story arc took such an odd turn towards the end. The story seemed ok until then. Then it went from ok to bad. Sorry but not good.
So weird. I didn't like it. Ok, let me explain. I loved Bedhead and was really looking forward to Gage getting his hea. This book... It started out as a romance with a mystery. It was pretty good with a sweet girl and a nice guy. There was no real foreshadowing of what this ended up being. Sure, there were little mysteries, but nothing that screamed psycho. Then, the last chapter was like a Stephen King wannabee jumped in and changed the whole thing!!! Not in a good way. There is no good emotion, no feeling of things being finished/resolved satisfactorily. I sat there reading that last chapter in shock. It completely destroyed every positive happy emotion from the rest of the book. That little epilogue does not, in any way, bring this back around to hea status If this was the first ever book I had read by Ms. Miller, I wouldn't read any more.

Ok. I couldn't decide between one or two stars. Well, going in to this expecting a good romance, similar to previous books by the author, getting 90% through the book building up a fairly sweet romance between Gage and Daisy (even with some pretty poor decision making by Gage and some weird time holes for Daisy), the BAM, It is not longer a sweet romance but some weird psycho-killer story line?? What the hell is this, Alfred Hitchcock? NOT what I signed up for. I have it two stars vs one because the writing is decent, but, dang... Gage even ends up with a almost completely undeveloped character from previous books in the series. Like, where did that come from? Huge plot holes, massive, unpleasant plot twist, unsatisfying relationship conclusions. As a romance reader, I REALLY don't recommend this one.
If you've read the other reviews, you'll know people took issue with how the story ends. I'm not one of those people. I think it was a great ending and shows so much growth from the author. I appreciate that. I don't want to read the same story evey time. I look forward to reading more!
This book turned out differently than I thought it would, not quite the Kayt Miller I'm use to but the twist at the end was something that made me sit up and say hot damn that's different. Definitely not boring.
Welp,..... I just read that. Talk about an unhinged ending. This is my first Kayt Miller series and I really enjoyed Bedhead. Less enthused about Redhead since Luke turned into a man-child but I was really looking forward to Gage's story and who was going to help him get over his obvious crush on Quinn. I was enjoying most of the book, a few issues I had with the storyline and then 90% in and WHAM! Plot twist of all plot twists and not in a good way. That ending was so deranged and then we get one teeny snippet with Gage and his real HEA? It would have made tons more sense if they had a few more scenes in the book together instead of one 93% in and then the epilogue. You have to wonder just WTF this author was thinking and who actually told her this was a good idea for a book.
Now that I'm so invested in the series, I need to read book 4 but outside of Bedhead as a standalone, I wouldn't recommend this series at all
Recently, this author's books have not kept me glued to the pages; I have had to force myself to finish this series. She had added some unexpected twists and has given her characters more flaws. I love stories that follow a couple as they fall in love and live happily every after, this is not exactly that kind of story.
I love this author. I will always recommend everyone read her books if you are a fan of romantic comedies. Though I didn't love this series, this author is a one click author for me. Happy reading!
Kayt is such a talented writer. I really love her other books. This one did not hit the mark for me though. It didn't fit with the other books in the series. I loved gage and almost wished Quinn would've ended up with him. She has been my favorite female character. I think because I'm a bit heavier and I understand. I wasnt a fan of Daisy and the book isn't about a love story like the other 2 are. Its not necessarily a bad book. It just doesn't feel like it aligned with bedhead and redhead except for the characters.
A felt like Gage was a lot smarter than was portrayed in the story, his falling for Daisy and her suspicions behavior to me was just plain dumb. I felt like this story was written quickly to just finish up the series. I'm a fan of Kayt Miller but not this book. Sorry.
Not nearly at all as expected, this had an unexpected ending for me. I'm sure there were more clues than I picked up on, and may need to reread. Ms Miller did an excellent job with these words.
I invested and read all of the books in this series because I love Kayt miller books but I didn't see the coming... At all. I feel cheated . . I just did not see that coming and had total WTF thoughts...gage and Kat deserve more.
I thought I was reading a romance series. I was not expecting a murder mystery in the midst of this series. I hated the turn of events in this book and the ending was sad and anticlimactic. I love Ms Miller's books but, this one was more than a little disappointing.
I loved this story despite the rather swift ending.
The plot twist had me going, “what the feck?” but was still a great idea. The only critique I’d give is that the actual love story should have had more than a short epilogue and had a bigger chunk of the book.

I loved this book! Gage is such a great character, the kind with hidden depths that beg to be explored. I've been hoping for a story based on him and I got it with Deadhead. Daisy, too, was a character that inspired so many emotions. The dynamic with her father was so bizarre, so provocative in an angry sort of way. There were moments I just wanted to leap through the screen of my book and tackle him. But then the plot twist... OMG. I did not see it coming, but I absolutely loved it. It went to a place I never imagined, and I loved the ride there! And the ending? It just seemed right for Gage, and I was there for it.
Kayt has such an innate way of creating characters that seem so visceral, so real. Whether you love or hate them, you feel, and intensely. The dynamics are always interesting, always changing, and it's made me a fan of all her books!
I don't usually write negative reviews but I really hated this book. When I finished reading it I felt that I had wasted my time because it totally breaks with the trajectory of this series of books. if it were a standalone book it would not have a problem but it makes no sense. I will really think about continuing to read books by this author
