Four Moons #4

Silver Moon

Rate this book
So close to the end, yet so far away.

The world is approaching a new dawn. Trouble is, it ain’t exactly all pretty and hopeful.

Big nope!

No jolly sunrises here. Nothing but death, destruction, betrayal, and a shed-load of massive hurdles in the way.

Gah!

Akira Murakami holds the hope, the key to ending the madness that has consumed everything. All he needs to do is get back to London to make it stop.

Easy as apple pie!

Yeah, right!

Step into a dangerous world with a deadly silver moon, enemies everywhere, and no time for baking. Okay, maybe a little bit…

The fourth and final instalment in the Four Moons series—a kick-ass Urban Fantasy tale with plenty of action, adventure, and a slow-burn MM Romance.

I just can’t believe that this series is over with this book. It has been a wild ride, and this last book was the best of them all. We are at the silver moon, and all you-know-what is breaking loose. Akira has to save the world and break the curse, but first he has to make it home with everyone gunning for him. This book is filled with mayhem, destruction, love, pain, and laughter. If you loved the other books in the series, you’ll definitely love this one. A very fitting end to a great series. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Reading the final book in a great series is ambivalent experience for me. On the one hand, here it is - the grand finale: a big battle and then the good guys will get their HEA, the, evil will be defeated and I'll be able to breathe. On the other hand, the final book means that after turning the last page I'll have to say goodbye to the characters who have become a part of my life, my friends. So, it's somehow bitter-sweet, but still so worth it. In this book the pace is getting even faster
, though the whole series was so fast paced, so dynamic, that you simply could not relax: the story gripped you tight and wouldn't let go until the last page. And here the time is running out too, and you feel it slipping through the pages. Akira needs to complete the mission and ...save the world( of course) So, no pressure! I love the way Richard Amos portrayed his Akira. He is absolutely real, not a white knight, but a guy who struggles, who is full of self doubt, who definitely has daddy issues, but that is exactly what made me love him so much. He has all those weaknesses, but he is also loyal, kind and loving, oh, yes, and he bakes the best muffins in the world. Those little details I absolutely adore. The way he loves his bike (Cindy will appear in this last book again), the way he loves his half brother Zach, who he has known for quite a short period of time, and even his younger new born brother. Loyalty is the core of his complicated personality. And of course G. Their romance has been a slow burn but I have enjoyed every second of it. The way these two are willing to sacrifice everything including the life itself for each other is just wonderful and not once (and let's be honest not even twice) I felt tears on my cheeks and pain in my chest.
If you are reading this review you have most probably read the previous books. So my advice for you: buckle up and get ready, it will be a crazy and amazing ride, very emotional (maybe even tissues-needed emotional) and wonderful. And I'm a bit jealous as I can't read it again for the first time. Enjoy💖

The ending felt really bittersweet. While things were hard on the protagonists, I feel like they lost way too much. It's hard to appreciate the hopeful ending when you're sort of still processing that one loss like five losses ago. Akira and G are OK, but I am not, thank you very much. I wish maybe some less pain? I didn't think I'd ever ask that of an author. But ouch!

I love this series, and am sad that this is the last story for Aki and G, although very happy with the conclusion. Silver Moon didn’t let up with the roller coaster ride or the snark, and there were several twists I didn’t see coming.

The characters are fabulous, and as with Dead Moon, Gabriel takes some of the narrative POV. I must admit although I love Aki, G is my favourite character. I love how he adjusts to his new reality and the lengths he goes to to be there for Aki, and to help him save the day. Aki’s a wonderful combination of snark, attitude, and vulnerability. I love his stress relief baking, and how the author was able to sneak in him baking cupcakes in this story. Baking is his trademark as much as his katanas!

I liked Zak too. He’s lost so much, yet comes into his own and kicks arse alongside G, and plays a pivotal part in helping Aki overcome the nasty things done to him. I loved how it’s a combination of family and love that holds the key.

Bob and Rose totally rock as usual, and I thought their part in the elf plot was very sneaky and unexpected. Very clever, and nicely done. Even Aki’s dad ends up being much more than Aki thinks he does, and follows through on the hints shown in the previous book. I wasn’t expecting the way his part of the story ended.

I thought the final showdown was very exciting, and I liked that there were consequences for Aki, and that he didn’t escape unscathed. It added to the depth of the story, and his character.

It took me about an hour longer to read this book than it normally would have taken. The reason? I kept putting it down because I just don't want to say goodbye to Aki and G. I've made no secret of how much I've loved the preceding three books in the Four Moons series, so I knew going in that Silver Moon was always going to be a bitter sweet read.

In terms of action, adventure and general peril, the plot is great. From the very beginning we're hurtling towards zero hour when it's up to Akira and G to save the world. There are baddies wreaking havoc across the globe and creatures to be fought along the way but the conclusion to the battle for power is pretty spectacular.

As for Akira and Gabriel, Aki had some real internal struggles as well as the literal fighting but I glad to say he's as snarky and street as ever for the most part, with a sarcastic comeback for anyone getting in his way. Naturally, there are more tender words for G, though...so sweet! Gabriel is the consummate Beta, as usual...an absolute stalwart for Aki and their love only makes him more determined to keep his wayward hunter as safe as possible. It's also lovely to see more than just this one relationship blossom in this emotional rollercoaster of a read.

It's been a hell of a ride taking this four-book journey with Aki and G and I've loved every page of it. Silver Moon is absolutely a fitting end to their story. So, whilst I'm sad it's over, I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store for us next from this author. 5 fantastic stars for this thrilling conclusion to an amazing urban fantasy series!

Silver Moon was absolutely amazing!
But I’m sad that this was the last book in this series, I didn’t want this series to end to tell you the truth.
Richard Amos is one awesome story weaving genius, I absolutely love all his work and I’m always waiting impatiently waiting for more.
So I am going to say yes I most definitely do recommend Silver Moon, but a word of advice if you haven’t read the books before this one then I highly suggest that you do!

The journey through the "Four Moons" is now complete.

And what a journey Aki and G have taken. This final Moon phase either means the world's end, the end of Aki and G, or their beginning of a new life together. Each has taken from the other, made sacrifices for the other, given up an initial part of their being for their other half; but will all their toils and tribulations satisfy the Silver Moon? This reader has been taken on her own incredible journey in this voyage. It is a must to read this whole series to comprehend this ending. A HEA but with a twist of irony sure to surprise anyone. This was an ARC given to me freely and in kind I have written an honest, voluntary, and willing review.

Series ended with a satisfying ending.
I like that the author didn't go back and reverse all the bad.
There were no magic cures ore magical fixes to things that made you go NOOOO.
The dead stay dead. The consequences of actions weren't magically reversed or cured.
I just didn't want it to end. I love the characters.
But, it ended well, with things resolved, and I guess that's the best you can hope for.

Point A in this review is that I was really not in the right mindset to read this book. I had been eagerly anticipating it, so I picked it up right away, but I stopped several times through and thought that I should probably just wait until I was in the right headspace for it. I kept going, though, and that was probably a mistake as I didn't enjoy it very much. I've just come off reading a very violent and gory book, and I just wasn't ready for another one. 90% of this book is pure violence and gore, and I just wasn't in the mood for it.

Point B is that the ending was very abrupt. This is the last book in the series, so after the conflict was finally resolved, readers got about three pages before it ended. Most series give the reader a long kiss goodbye, at least, but I felt like this book snuck out in the middle of the night while I was sleeping. The main problem is that for the previous three books Akira was built up to expect that he was going to bring a great change to the world, but in the final three pages, of which maybe a paragraph was dedicated to how the world had changed after the conflict resolution, it very much seemed as though the world was pretty much the same. So that was my other big gripe, that the ending of the book did not seem true to the series at all and all of the buildup to the main conflict resolution was totally a waste of words.

Overall, I have loved this series. I thought book one was excellent, book two was a little bit rough, book three brought it again, and then I thought that this book fell down on the job. I probably would not recommend the series to anybody based on the ending, but certainly I did enjoy it before that. So I guess you have to kind of take this review with a grain of salt here, because as I've said I was not in the right mind space to really enjoy and savor the book, but at the same time I do think my critique of point B is solid and is how I would have felt regardless. The series I would give three stars overall so that is what I gave to this book, although this particular book I felt was closer to two stars as a very subpar installment to the series.

Amazing

It's funny. I nearly didn't read these books. I had read one of Richard's book and remember not liking it at all. Therefore cue not reading anything from this author. But I gave Book 1 a chance. Didn't like the start. Nearly gave up. I didn't like the way it was written the MC annoying the heck out of me! But! I was wrong! This series seriously sucked me in. All the feels! Gripping action and characters that I just couldn't let go of. The first two books were 4 stars but the last two 5! I loved this series. It was gripping, exciting, angsty and well close to perfect. So much action and the world was really well built. Even though we only hear one POV for most of the series, hearing from Gabriel these last two books upped my rating. I'm glad I stuck it out cause this was amazing. I'm off to read me some more and hopefully I will be amazed with this new series too! Do yourself a favour and read these books.

OMG this book _wrecked_ me. I'm so sad the series is over but so happy with the way the author ended it.

In the series finale, Akira, my name is Aki bruv, Murakami comes face to face with his destiny in a no holds barred, action/adventure rollercoaster of events. This book starts immediately after the climactic events of Dead Moon.

Gabriel is human now, the hotel was bombed by elves, and everyone - I mean _everyone_ seems out to get Aki. The elves are hunting him, Mama Rita and her band of psycho crazies are hunting him, and both sides are fighting each other while fighting to kill him. No one is safe, no _where_ is safe and all Aki wants to do is bake some brownies, damnit!

Loved the way Richard ended this book. So sad to see it go, so happy it was a happy (sort of) ever after.

I enjoyed this series immensely and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading urban fantasy with different cultures and supernatural beings/shifters included. It does have violence and can be kind of gory but I am not a fan or gory horror and this didn't upset me. I wish the ending of this book had been expanded a bit more to give us more time after all the action to regroup, get our bearings and figure out exactly how everything had changed and how all the relationships were going to continue. That said, this has never been the traditional m/m romance from the first book on, so that may be a slightly unreal expectation. On the whole, I am glad I read the series and think anyone who enjoyed the Rivers of London series or similar ones would enjoy this.

This is probably the best book of the best series written so far by the talented Richard Amos.
This series was complex but the world building was amazing and there are plenty of surprises along the way.
This last book is very fast paced from the very first chapter right through until the end. So many amazing moments, tears, hope, joy and in some places laughter.
Aki & G have the most amazing Chemistry and they are each others Yin and Yang - perfectly different but 100% together.
Enjoy this wild ride as Aki & G look to rescue his uncle, save the world and in turn free the wolves when they destroy the silver moon.

This is the final book in the Four Moons series following Akira and Gabriel as they try to break the curse. So much has happened to these two! This book dealt with a lot of the feelings that Aki has been struggling with throughout the series. It was a good conclusion to the and I am happy to report that Aki and G do get their happy ending. I do recommend that you read the rest of the series before this book though. It does NOT stand alone. The author is really good at creating complex characters and weaving quite the tapestry with a good slow burn romance and ultimate happy ending. He really makes his characters work for it! Great series!

This was such a bitter sweet read for me. While I loved the book so much it was still so sad knowing that this was the end of the series. I loved this story so much it was even more intense than many of the others before this last one was. Aki is an amazing man and I loved getting to know him and hearing his story. This is such a life like character and I hope to get some spin off series in this world so we can have more of Aki. I love Akira and G so much I never wanted to see the end of this incredible rich and layered world. I serious hope there are spin off in this world.

And so it ends

This was an epic finish for a great series and story.

I gasped, I clasped my kindle tightly, I smiled, I cried. All things that make a good book.

This final instalment sees Aki, and by association, G, being put through the wringer, even more than in previous books. Their relationship stenghtens and gets more loving by the second, which à beautiful contrast to all the horror, pain and destruction they face.

The ending was so bittersweet and made me cry and then patched me up a little.

Great book and overall story that I really recommend

I loved this series, it was such a fun adventure in saving the world, Richard Amos did such an awesome job! Loved how the story built moving through each of the moon phases and each of the trials leading to the finale. Also the way Akira and Gideon worked through their own personal issues and as their characters evolved through the books to find there way to each other and their happy ending, but still just a little sad the adventure is over.

Glad I persevered after book 1.

Initially I didn't like the MC Akira in book I, but I enjoyed the direction of the character development and storyline enough to go on and finish the series. There are quite a few grammatical errors but not enough to destroy the flow.
Nice to read a story based set in England and Japan. Some may be bemused by the British slang but it's not prevalent throughout.

3.5 stars.

Action, danger, and so much loss. Like, total devastation. No one made it out whole. This was so fast paced I wasn’t always sure what was going on. There is a HEA for the survivors but it is bittersweet.

Aki has a chaotic psyche and being in his head made me want to smack him on several occasions but I also cheered when he showed growth and made better choices. Loved G and his steadiness.

What a ride...now get me off.

I have never been so happy for a series to end. Akira and Gabriel are great characters; it was vividly written and flowed well. I guess I'm just the type of reader who likes some action with my romance rather than romance with my problems, pain, suffering and f'd up thing after f'd up thing happening. Too much, I'm exhausted. If you like a ton of madness, you'll love this.

Amazing

This has been a great series, I'm sad this is the last book. I'm secretly hoping that Richard Amos will pop out another book in the future. I love the sense of humour/bunter thats in this book. The chemistry between Aki and G is just amazing and from book one you can tell that they are special.
These two have become my faves and I will miss them.

Great series conclusion!
Akira faces the final huge obstacle to ending the curse of the Moon. Hi's loyalty and mental strength are tested to the limit and so is the loyalty of the ones around him.
I loved this slow-burn romance packed with action and incredible sacrifice! A great conclusion to a great series!

Great read

This was an amazing series from start to finish. A good storyline and fantastic characters. Amos has the best main characters. They are hilarious, annoying, and express so much emotion that you can feel it. Pick up this series or one of his others. You won't regret it. I can't wait for the next one.

Spoiler...ish ...

I think this series deserved a better ending! It was a bit Andersen-ish at the end! I kept hoping for a twist that never came ... the fiction part is 5 star and more! The last 2 books though ... yeah its a generous 4 star bcs of the series as a whole!

I loved, loved, loved this series. So much action, great MC's and secondary characters in a fantastic new world. 4 books in the series, definitely best read in order. I was sad to finish them and say goodbye but put them right on my to-be-read-again shelf.
