If you like frustration and irritation then by all means proceeded
The only some of the characters are likeable the first book was meh but if offered enoungh that purchased the second. I am irritated with Erin and her flaky nature while Liam is doing everything possible to bring his new family together Erin is off doing everything possible to destroy it. I mean she could of at least given liam a chance tried dating him see if there was something there but no she went straight to some other dudes bed I hope in the next book if I decide to go on that Liam gets some revenge on her for her crap cause I was Tim I would make her feel like shit for as long as took for her to grow the f up
It's on. For both Erin and Liam and their allies. Twice now, Liam has managed to neitralize The Pill, and wjile in Dunos Scaith, has discovered she is pregnant. Because of time dilation, the child will be between 5 amd 5 when jer dad and her big brother meet her, but that hasn't haooened yet (must be in the next book). The way Erin's training goes is very interesting, to say the least, and the difficulty of entering Scathac's domain is exacerbated by a seraphim who harms one of the twins. Before the training even starts, Erin is off to find someone who will help her friend. They're attacked by other supernatural beings on and off, with the last ones being the nost vicious. Meanwhile, back at the ranch...well, farm...they need to find a meteor to make the sword, and it's in Russia. And they have a few hassles on the way back. Iblis is trying to make contact. His biker goons cause some serious issues.and he has 2 more Witches to use as "batteries" for his magical reserve and is looking for more as more magic enters the world. Liam is networking with pagan groups; Susan and Tim are doing a lot of work on new Accords patterned after the Milesian Accords, with a lot of input from Liam. The pastor and his helper(s) are trying to track down Tim and Liam. Liam is learning a lot about smithing and magic. And it's taking a toll on everyone. And of course, the end is almost as abrupt as the end to the first book. It's as if one day, the author just decided he'd stop typing, save, and email the manuscript. Also, h8s proofreaders didn't do a great job as there are a few more glaring grammatical errors (of curse, I'm a grammar, spelling, usage, and overall language arts nerd, which means many won't notice it)...like, "has rode"??? Really? Try "has RIDDEN." But the book is good enough to skip over withiut it detracting too much.
Age-old Battle Between Good and Evil, Turned Sideways
I selected this book because it is a finalist in the Best Fantasy Novel category for the 2018 Dragon Award. This review is expanded and extended (which means it has the good stuff in it) in a post on my blog, Papa Pat Rambles
It is not necessary to read the first book in the series to get a great amount of enjoyment from it, in much the same way as it is not necessary to hug your beloved before kissing them. If you HAVEN'T read the first book in the series, then I suggest you do what I am going to do, and read 'A Reluctant Druid' at your first opportunity. WARNING: since I HAVEN'T read the first volume yet, I may have missed critical plot points or drawn incorrect conclusions. Probably not, though.
The title contains a pun. The referenced warrior, Erin, has a TEMPER, and one of her tasks is to learn how to use her anger in battle. It is through mastery of that task, plus learning how to use her weapons to defend as well as attack, that is turning her into a person who is hardened and experienced, hence TEMPERED. Get it?
Erin the Warrior exists in a much altered time stream, which allows her to get all of the training she needs, while only a few weeks pass on Earth. This also presents some serious problems, since she will experience a full seven years, while to those she left behind on Earth, it will only be seven weeks. And it gets lonely...
While Erin trains, and fights giants and Brazen Boars, back in the Earth timeline, her somewhat-significant other has battles of his own. People are trying to do things to him. And it gets lonely...
Truly, this is a worthy inclusion in the Best Fantasy Novel category for the 2018 Dragon Award.

Both Druid and Champion are running out of time as the Challenge approaches—a challenge that could end the world as we know it—and neither is likely to be ready in time. They must trust in each other and their friends…but what if that trust is misplaced? Love this story, unusual to have central Illinois as a focal point, with Peoria, Bloomington, Eureka being main points in the story. My area so I can easily relate. Erin taking a lover while being distracted by her feelings for Liam, Liam being pursued by his Fae familiar, all makes for a great story. I look forward to the next in the series.
I enjoy the series, but would have enjoyed it more if it was not for Erin. Also, chapters given to minor character’s pov take from the story and do not make care any more for the minor characters.
Book 2 seems to focus more on Erin and her “training,” in Dunas Scaith. The training parts were pretty good, and some of the obstacles Erin has to overcome.
However, this book made me dislike Erin more. I respect that she told Liam she does not want to try and start a family with him. However, she becomes jealous or annoyed when another girl clings to Liam. Erin goes to complete here “training” Remove Erin, and this will be a great series.
Story decent but much like the previous book it goes on longer than it should and ends on an annoying cliffhanger. Again. I only grabbed this to see if the first was just a mistake in the way to end.
Not even in the mood to review important bits but here's some blurbs
Good Urban Fantasy, interesting exploration of the in-between world (Murkwald?)
Interesting exploration of the attempts to plan what to do with the future accords if they win, and expanding their network.
At this point I'm invested in the characters, especially the kids produced from the two main characters, just because you always have to root for the kids! I think Liam and Tim are my favorite character dynamic, it's nice to see a good father, even if it's just a fantasy book. I also like the supporting cast established in book one and Erin's part of the book just doesn't hit that same note for me. I'm not mad at it and the new characters in Erin's part are decent, I just prefer the others better.
I'm enjoying the series. I like that the druid is the man and the champion is a woman. I took awhile to really get into the first book. I think it's more me than the book. Sometimes it's hard to focus and a book that switches character leads with each chapter needs focus. I'm reading book 4 now and hope that they find and fix the stag. The time slipping and challenge rules are interesting. Now that we're post challenge, that also has it's own charm. How does the world and magic work now?
Very good story here. If you liked the first one in this series, you'll love this one. If you like the iron druid chronicles, then this one should be square in your targeted want to read list. Great world building, nice to see character development, and the story advances by leaps and bounds, can't wait to read the next one in the series.
This is the second book in the Milesian Accords series and I am glad that I didn’t have to wait for the final book. The series are not the most challenging of books to read but they do move seamlessly along the two stories that will eventually come together in the third book. I have to say that I do enjoy the author’s writing style and will be looking for more of his books.
So this story is so freaking awesome!!! I am totally in need of book 3! The characters are well written and so real. The action is fantastic and the story is just way to hard to put down. Be prepared to spend a day or so reading this book. It's totally worth the time and money!!!!
Because I am nice, I gave it a half star more than it deserved. Most of the book was bordering on boring. I understand that the second book of ie can’t be as dynamic as the first but I hope the build up is worth it for thee third and beyond. I would not have thought champion would be an indecisive, excuse the word, slut , and the Druid sooo, nice, shame Einar could not be more than a cook
I forgot to sleep until I finished (shut off Kindle, looked at clock, growled to self). Will definitely purchase dead tree version for long term perusal.
Excellent for the middle volume of a trilogy. Erin has vanished in a time-fold for training, Liam is tending the store and taking care of Tim and well, action galore, new friends, new foes. All you can like in an urban fantasy setting.
Once again, new and weird ( I can't come up with a decent word right now) that made me re-read or skip. A few surprises in this one that I didn't see coming. I absolutely hated this cliff hanger too.
As with the previous book this is a good story but a fairly standard urban fantasy implementation. Overall the characters are good and the writing decent. The behavior of Erin with respect to her love life and Liam is really annoying though. It is a decent enough read but nothing really to write home about. It not for the story itself this one would have ended up on the not-to-be-continued shelf.
