→ slowburn (mariana zapata type of slowburn if you know what i mean)
→ great banter // heroine is the funny, playful and carefree type of character while Hero is the grumpy, stay tf outta my way or i'll beat your ass type of character
→ age-gap (10 years i think??)
→ NO OW/orgy scene. halle-fucking-lujah !!!
→ soulmate trope // there is a little bit of insta love here from the heroine but i didn't mind it because it made the banter so funny
→ "unrequited" love
→ forced proximity trope (Gavin is Ginny's "bodyguard" and all that)
→ found family trope // Hero bonds with heroine's brothers (aww)
→ and a little bit of a road trip and "bed-sharing" trope
⤷ Ginny (h) and Gavin (H) are soulmates but they haven't met until Ginny's secret blood sister's wedding, singing her song about losing her soulmate and lo and behold she finally sees him. after 10 years of being raped and tortured, and when he was rescued 2 years before, Gavin no longer exists, thus, Reaper is introduced. in this book, Gavin/Reaper protects Ginny from her stalker while also finding out who her stalker is.
Ginny always believed in "soulmates" and once she saw Gavin, she had no qualms in letting him know that they are meant to be together but because of what happened to him in the past, he was all like ha ha ha. no... ˡᵒˡ ʲᵏ ⁱ ˡᵒᵛᵉ ʸᵒᵘ ᵗᵒᵒ ᵇᵇ ᵍⁱʳˡ..
⤷ since the first book is about Ginny and Gavin's story before they even meet and Gavin was 25 and Ginny was 15 before he was kidnapped, he was "in love" with Taylor and asked her to marry him. there were 2 intimate scenes between them there and he used her image and their future plans as a way to survive his torture (don't worry about this little tid bit. he'll explain in this book why that's a mistake. trust the process y'all). he even begged her to stay with him once he was rescued but it was not about love, it was more about Gavin trying to hold on to a piece of himself before he was kidnapped.
“Souls don’t have a name. Mine recognized yours the moment I saw you. Even if I lost my vision, I would still recognize you. You may have had sex hundreds of times, asked Taylor to marry you, planned to have children with her in this body … but your soul … that has always been mine.”
“I don’t need much … A smile every now and then…. I don’t need kisses and rainbows, sweet man. I just need you. Any way you’ll let me in your life, and I’ll be content. I swear.”
“What you had with Taylor was fool’s gold. What you can have with me—if you would just be willing to see with your heart instead of your eyes—is the real thing.”
The future before him didn’t involve Ginny. It couldn’t. All the things that had been done to him, what he had done, what he planned to do, plus every fucking videotape of him, he needed to put more distance between them than it took to drive to the club. Some distances were insurmountable

Life wasn’t fair. It was like a river that was just there—no rhyme or reason. It didn’t have feelings, didn’t care that every living thing needed it to survive, yet it would share its wealth or be as stingy as a miser. It could turn on you indiscriminately, creating havoc at a moment’s notice, destroying lives and everything in its raging path.Gavin's Song kicks off this terrific trilogy and is definitely the hardest book to read emotionally. This book essentially leads up to the romance between Ginny and Gavin, and they only really meet for the first time at the very end of it. The book alternates between each of them, showing us different important points and periods of their lives.
“We may be going in opposite directions, but we could both end up in the same place. I can wait for you to get there.”Reaper's Wrath is my favorite in the series, probably because it's the most focused, has the most complete arc of their romance, and if it weren't for Ginny's subplot the story could be wrapped up with this one (practically). Both Gavin and Ginny have their own "mystery subplots" and this one centers around Gavin's: revenge for his kidnapping and torture (hence the title) and him really coming to terms with what happened (though this very much continues on into Book 3 as well).
“My love doesn't have time limits. It's everlasting.”Unfortunately, this was my least favorite in the series for a couple reasons (though you'll note I still gave it a good rating): Ginny's "mystery subplot" was a little weak and unbelievable, the story dragged at times and could have been wrapped up far sooner, and most disappointing of all, Ginny was annoying and immature at times. Up until this book, she had earned herself a spot on my Favorite Romance Heroines shelf, but I'm now torn and don't think she'll make it. She had a bit of the TSTL to her at various points in the book, and because I had loved her so much up until then, it was all the more frustrating. I won't go further into my first two reasons, since that would involve spoilers.
Ginny could see the toxic train of thoughts that held him.
“Nothing lasts forever.”
“My love will.”
