A HEART REDEEMED (The Everyday Heroes Series) by Dawn Brower is a new romantic suspense set in K. Bromberg’s Everyday Heroes Series world. This is my first time reading a book written by this author and set in this world, but it will not be my last.

Eight-year-old Mila Gallo waited until her parents went to bed to sneak into the kitchen to take the cookies her mom told her she could not have. When she hears a noise on the stairs, she hides in a kitchen cabinet and hears a stranger kill her father.

Alexander “Lex” Foster discovers Mila the next morning curled in the cabinet and it breaks his heart. He vows to discover Mila’s parent’s killer. He delivers the silent Mila to her emergency foster placement and is surprised by his instant attraction to the foster mother. What Lex does not know is that the killer’s job is not done until Mila is dead, too.

Paige Morris is a second-grade teacher and has become a foster parent available to traumatized children. Paige is hoping by helping other children, it will make up for her slow response in separating herself and her daughter from an abusive relationship. Paige feels she will never be interested in a relationship again until Lex shows up at her door with Mila in his arms.

After several disturbing incidents, Lex moves in with Paige and the girls to protect them. Paige and Lex’s attraction turns into more even as the killer plans to finish his job. Will Lex be able to protect them all and save Mila?

I enjoyed Paige and Lex finding each other when they both never thought a relationship was possible for them. Paige and Halie had been through a lot and their backstory really fleshed them out and made you want them to find happiness and made them perfect for helping Mila heal. Lex is a hero that is handsome, but also intelligent and loving. There is no secret of the killer’s identity and the plot itself is not new and was predictable, but the author filled the story with characters that felt realistic and you want to follow them until the HEA.

This is a quick and entertaining romantic suspense.

This was my first time reading a Dawn Brower book, I was impressed. She did a wonderful job with this suspense thriller. She gave the villain just enough of the scary ick factor that stayed with you.

But really this is a story of Paige and Lex and two little girls and how their lives were altered by a gruesome event.

This story has everything you need in a good suspenseful romance and ties everything up with a pretty bow at the end. I think this is a perfect addition to KB Worlds EveryDay Heroes series.

Cara and Antony Gallo have been murdered in there own home by Enzo a brother that he didn't know about but there daughter Mila was hiding in a cupboard listening to everything that was going on but Enzo thought she was away staying some where else. Alex is a detective and when he arrived at the house he was shocked by the vicious scene in front of him and vowed to find out who did this and get justice for the Gallo family but not before finding Mila the daughter in a kitchen cupboard. Paige is a single mum to Halie who is now in remission from cancer after having a bone marrow transplant from her uncle and they had also gone through so much at the hands of her ex husband who is now in prison. Paige helps other children that have gone through trauma like her daughter and that is how she met Alex as she was taking in Mila to care for her but nobody knew what would happen next and all the danger that they are in but will they survive. Omg this book was absolutely amazing and I couldn't put it down as I had to see what would happen next and it was so addictive right for the first page. This is the first book that I have read by Dawn Grower but definitely not the last and I definitely recommend you read this book and you will not be disappointed.

I've read many Regency era books by Ms. Brower but this is my first time reading a contemporary novel by her. She is an amazing storyteller, no matter the genre . The story of Alexander and Paige grabbed my attention from the very beginning and I became invested in the story and could not put it down. Filled with drama, suspense, romance, and mystery this book is quite the page-turner. Paige fosters a little girl after the child's parents are murdered. Alexander is the detective assigned to the case and he is immediately drawn to Paige. Both are dealing with their own past demons, but inevitably grow closer to each other. As their bond deepens, so does the danger that is around them. The story was well crafted and was very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend!

There is a murder and a little girl Milo who hears her father getting murdered. The detective Lex finds her the next day hiding in a cabinet. She is sent to foster care and when Paige the foster mom and Lex meet it is an instant attraction. Lex needs to keep them safe from the murderer. The murder is kind of a given, but the story is about Paige and Lex, and his need to protect them at all costs. I thougth the characters were beautifully written and had strength and depth. The plot was good and the story flowed. I would recommend this book. It had suspense and some action, and romance. Great story.

This is a perfect addition to this amazing series. When 8-year old Mila hears a stranger murder her dad she manages to hide herself in a cupboard, which is where Lex a detective finds her the next morning, and his heart broke for her. Taking Mila into an emergency foster placement Lex meets Paige who is a foster mom to traumatized children, and there is an instant connection between them. Will Lex be able to keep them safe though when the Killer is determined to finish his killing spree and his target is Mila? This is a well written story which is filled with heartbreak, danger, suspense, emotions, and intrigue, which had me hooked throughout. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend.

I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic suspense with great characters, romance and intrigue. She had problems with her ex who had killed people, and now she and her young daughter live alone. A young girl is found at a murder scene where her parents were brutally killed, and the social services agency asks her to be a foster mother and she agreed. However, there was a lot of danger and intrigue, but the ending was great.

Oh, Paige and Lex had me on the edge of my seat while reading this. The story is suspenseful with some mystery with a murder but at the same time the attraction between Paige and Lex pulls you in. The tension, the passion, the mystery! It all comes together beautifully.

Well, well, here we are at the end of what has probably been the worst year for many of us. I don't know about YOU, but all I am craving at the moment is some good old fashion escapist books. Books with happy endings and all of that.

Once o got around to reading A heart Redeemed, I read the first couple of chapters, and it marked all of what I liked about books that transport you to a world without a damn pandemic in it. I don't know about you, but I am getting real tired of the virus thing.

One day, I stelled down in my reading nook with a very comfy recliner I got for my birthday and started to read. I know that many Book bloggers do not like stories from Kindle Unlimited to even indie books. My motto is you never know; you may miss an excellent book.

Friends-let me tell you A redeemed Heart is one book that all romance lovers should pick up and read. I read this in one sitting; it is that good.

The insta romance was kind of cheesy, but I didn't want a book at this time that did a deep dive into human suffering and all that, so the cheesy part did not distract from the plot or anything. It made me so happy to finally have read something that brought pure brain candy right when I needed it most. The book started in a gruesome manner. That is not even a spoiler because it happened on the third page. So the book's detective shows up and is love at first sight for the detective, and he must save the lady and two kids from being victims themselves.

The reader is then taking on a whirlwind of trying to figure out the killer while meanwhile trying to help Mila heal from trauma. and yes I am being vague on purpose I don't want to spoil the plot and your enjoyment of reading this book. Just take it from me and go read this book.

Too Dark with Gratuitous Violence

I've listened to most books in this series and haven't liked them for various reasons. Usually,I feel like the book starts in the middle and just throws a bunch of random people and actions at the reader without much, if any, setup or connection-making; so they are confusing with characters you never really come to care about. This one didn't suffer from that fault. However, this one is very dark with what felt like gratuitous violence compared to the other books in the series. The book opens with the scene of a man planning to kill a family (father, mother, and young daughter); the look into his twisted mind is more than disturbing. This is a romantic suspense, so it has not only the thriller plot but also a romance. But the suspense part is so dark and unrelenting that the romantic element feels completely out of place. The book lurched from scenes of direct or indirect abject terror to incredibly light, flirty, and heavily s-e-x-ual scenes. These two elements were not woven together or integrated well—seriously, could you get all hot and bothered if you were concerned about your foster daughter’s life?—so it just felt odd going back and forth between these two very different types of scenes.

This book definitely needs to come with a variety of TRIGGER WARNINGS, which certainly were not listed in the book description on the book review website where I got the promo code. If another has harmed anyone in your family, if you suffered from domestic abuse, if you've lived in fear from harm by another, if anyone you know has been kidnapped, if you or anyone has ever been stalked—and I may have missed a few—you may find this book triggering or just too disturbing. The quality of the story is not worth any sort of aggravation.

I received a promo code for this audiobook, but that did not affect my review.

Simple, sweet suspense:
I found this book enjoyable although it was rather short and more of a novella. It was a bit repetitive whilst simultaneously not providing some essential information. It was supposed to be a standalone but I found I missed out a bit as this was the first book in the series that I'd read. I wished more backstory had been given as for example it kept referencing what had happened with Paige's ex-husband but full details were never given. Despite that, I found the flow and pacing to be excellent with just the right amount of quieter and happier moments between all of the drama and action.
It was lovely seeing the hearts of these characters not only be redeemed but also healed and restored. Poor Paige had gone through so much and I loved how she tried so hard to be there for those in her life and I was so glad when she finally allowed herself to be loved too. Lex was sweet and protective and although the romance and relationship developed too quickly to be realistic, I still enjoyed these two together.

I liked A Heart Redeemed, but unfortunately, I didn't love it. As a romance, it was good with Lex, as the over protective cop, and Paige, as a former victim. The issue I had was with the suspense part of the book. Most school playgrounds are fenced now, but a traumatized child is left unsupervised. Also Paige is fostering the little girl and when threatened, she insists on returning home because no one will make her change her daily life. It seemed like she would risk a child's life just to make a point. The other issue was with Lex. There didn't seem to be a murder investigation. Basically he looked through similar cases and that was it. Lex felt there were questionable characters, but the author never pursued it in the book. At another point, a police cruiser was left at the house that disappeared and was never explained. There were too many things left out or made too easy to make the suspense good.

Cara and Antony Gallo are murdered in their home by a half-brother that Antony didn't know existed. Their daughter, Mila, was hiding in a cupboard after hearing the voice of a strange man. The murderer assumed she was gone for the night and decided to come back to finish the job. Alex is the detective assigned to the investigation and when he finds Mila hiding and the house a bloody scene, he vows to find justice. Paige is the teacher and single mom who is providing a temporary home to Mila and when Lex meets her he feels something more. This is a wonderful story with characters that are believable and real. Since the culprit is known to the reader, the way it all folds out is satisfying and heartwarming.
The narration is excellent by Delaney Burton. Her dynamic voice, varied intonation and good pacing bring each of the characters to life.

I have always enjoyed any of the books I have read that have been written by Dawn Brower and this one was not an exception to that but it was not one that ranks up there as one of her better works. Paige and Alexander were interesting characters and I liked their love story. Unfortunately, there were a number of inconsistencies within the storyline that kept me from giving this a higher rating. Every writer is allowed to have a book or two that does not always suit even the most loyal reader and this just happens to be one of those books for me. I will remain a loyal fan of Ms. Brower and I look forward to continuing to read more of her work in the future!

Lex is a cop that is called to a murder scene, where both the husband and wife were murdered. Their daughter is missing, he finds her hiding a cupboard, his heartbreaking for her. He does not know what she has seen.

Paige had just been approved as a foster parent, when she is called by social services. The little girl's parents were just murdered. She does not expect to find the cop attractive.

The pair end up spending a lot of time together, there is a killer on the loose looking for the little girl. Lex is not just hanging around to catch a killer, he is really starting to care for her and her foster mom.

Lex and Paige

Mila was eight when her parents were killed. She was hiding in a kitchen cabinet, otherwise she would also have died. There were a spat of these killings, where everyone at home was murdered. Lex Foster rescues Mila the next morning, finding her in the cabinet. He brings her to her new foster parent Paige. Paige is a 2nd grade teacher, and new to being a foster parent. Turns out the killers are still out there, and Mila is at risk. Lex is their hero, and protector. Characters well developed. The narration was well done. it is really about everyday heroes we can find anywhere and at any time in our lives.

I liked the atmosphere and suspense.

I don't think I've read this author before so it was a nice surprise, Really enjoyed the book just the right amount of drama, not to much or to little. On to the next book. Would like to read about Dane and Reese, and Nolan who was also a big mention in this book. Would like a book about Mila and Hailie could be a interesting book because of both there tragic backgrounds.
