Niente, non c’è proprio niente da fare. Non riesco a farmi piacere questa saga della Gleason. Più vado avanti e più mi sembra un po’ confusionaria. Certo è che la scrittura rimane fluida, come in tutti i suoi precedenti romanzi, mi chiedo solo come mai abbia voluto cambiare genere.
In questa saga la storia di sesso, tra l’affascinante e spregiudicato Quent e la spudorata cacciatrice di zombie Zoe, fa sicuramente la sua parte. Anzi, le scene di sesso, seppur spinte come in tanti altri romance che ormai troviamo nelle nostre librerie, sono ben fatte, senza lasciare mai nulla al caso anche se alcune volte risultano di troppo.
Finalmente vengono svelati i fatti di cinquant’anni prima, quando la Terra era ancora come la conosciamo, e prima che diventasse un ambiente post apocalittico.
Quent si trova un dono difficile da gestire: toccando gli oggetti può capirne la storia e il passato. Dovrà inoltre fare i conti con il suo, di passato, perché incontrerà il padre, la persona che odia di più al mondo, colui che gli ha fatto passare anni di violenze e uno degli umani che ha causato la fine del mondo. Ma Quent sa di essere l’unico a poter porre rimedio a questa situazione.
Credo che alcuni errori grammaticali, trovati durante la lettura, lo abbiamo reso meno scorrevole degli altri, o forse ciò è capitato a causa dei pochi colpi di scena. Sicuramente è una lettura che potrebbe piacere agli amanti dei distopici, per passare un po’ di tempo, ma probabilmente non lo è per chi ama romanzi più scorrevoli e con l’adrenalina dietro l’angolo.

Era da tanto che aspettavo questo romanzo, da quando la Newton ne aveva sospeso la pubblicazione. Avevo adorato i primi due romanzi della serie Envy chronicles e quindi potete immaginare la mia gioia quando l'autrice, che ama molto il pubblico italiano, ha deciso di farlo tradurre e di autopubblicarlo su amazon. Gioia pura.
Questo terzo capitolo ci svela alcuni grandi segreti che si celano nella ricca sottotrama che accompagna la storia della coppia principale. Ritroviamo personaggi che ho molto amato tra cui Elliot, Jade e Simon. E si risolve la turbolenta storia d'amore e passione tra Quint e l'audace e temeraria Zoe, storia cominciata nei volumi precedenti, che qui finalmente raggiunge il suo apice tra incontri/scontri, amplessi bollenti e guerra ai temibili ganga.
Questo romanzo è pieno di azione sapientemente dosata a una passionalità rovente. Ho apprezzao questi due personaggi forti e fragili assieme, uniti dal dolore per un passato che tuttora li tormenta e muove il loro presente, che li porta a prendere decisioni difficili.
Ma quel legame che è nato dal sesso si rafforza, diventa necessità, paura di perdere, amore.
Colleen Gleason si conferma una scrittrice dalla penna fluida e accattivante, che grazie a un linguaggio moderno, ci regala un futuro apocalittico in cerca di speranza.

I love this series. I love the world building by this author. She is able to convey the devastation that took place without paragraph upon paragraph of narrative.
I really felt the connection between Quent and Zoe in this one. They were so good together and, like Quent, I kept waiting for Zoe to show up.
The story shed some major light on what happened to create this new world which I was pleased to see. I've read a few series where the author holds all her cards until the very end and that isn't satisfying.
A tiny niggle for me is the use of the diary/blog entries by people that survived the Change. In the first book it was nice because it explained what happened immediately after and how people were able to adapt and move forward and in the second book it did the same but was tied to the plot. I know the author has to keep in mind readers that may be starting on book 3 but I would like diary/blog entries to show more than just the first couple days and months. I want to know about how they established electricity and running water. How communities were created (book 2's diary explained that one a little). I want to know why no one thought to preserve vehicles rather than letting them all rust. In this book the mayor of Envy decides to start a makeshift medical clinic and I want to know why that wasn't established in the last 50 years. They may not have had a legitimate doctor but surely somebody has been helping to care for injured people. I would've thought establishing a hospital and school system would be a priority for Envy before now. These are tiny issues that didn't affect my enjoyment of the story. Rather I think it shows how engrossing the setting is that I want to know so much more about it.
I love Remy and Ian. I want to see them together in a book but based on what I've read on the web they may be involved in a love triangle with Wyatt. Of course that is reader speculation based on scraps of info from the author.
Next up is Theo and I can't wait for his book.

It's been over 50 years since sine the apocalypse that wiped out almost everyone and Quentin Fielding walked out of a cave in Sedona into a whole new world. Now he lives in Envy, what's left of Las Vegas, helping the remnants of society get a handle on the Strangers, Immortals from before the Change who have crystals embedded in their skin. Quentin finds out his father is one of them, the leader of the cult of Atlantis, Quentin has lived only for killing his father for most of his life. His father was an abusive bastard. Quentin is not alone. Zoe is a woman who survived the murder of her entire family who were ravaged by zombies. She has survivor's guilt and only wants to kill the bounty hunter who set the zombies on her family. The two have found solace in one another but never expected love. They weren't sure they knew how. It's a decent story with just enough world building to keep the newbie reader to the series interested. Written before the tv series Revolution, it has a very similar premise in terms of the world starting from mostly scratch again. Quent's psychometric powers were good but didn't get a good enough workout in this installment. I don't know that I will look for the others in the series but I won't turn them down, either.

This third installment of Ware's post-apocalyptic series is, I'm sad to say, my least favorite so far. Which is a shame because I really loved the interactions between Quent and Zoe in the previous books. Quent's frustration with Zoe's actions mirrored my own. I like that she's such a strong kick ass heroine but her constant abandonment of Quent grated on my nerves.
I felt really bad for Quent in this book. Zoe bolted every chance she could get, even when she was doing what she thought was right, she really showed a lack of trust and faith in Quent and I felt it got pretty old. However, I continue to enjoy the series for Ware's world building. This series reminds me a lot of The Walking Dead, which I'm also loving! All in all a good addition to the series, even if it wasn't my favorite.

I think this is my favorite so far in the series. I liked Zoe and Quent. Zoe is a tough nut to crack. She is emotionally distant, where as Quent is the pursuer. Lots of series/storyline development. I can't wait to see what is next.

I listened to the audio version and the narrator was excellent. Set in 2060 approximately, after the world has been mostly destroyed. Full of action and steamy romance scenes. Please read from book one as while the romance has a HEA, the back story is ongoing.

So, on the plus side, we have more development of the whole 'how the strangers cracked the world' series arc, and a probable plot McGuffin that will no doubt help our heroes figure out how to lead a revolution and restore goodness and light to the world (or something) in later books.
Also on the plus side, we have a POC female lead, which is a nice change.
On the negative side, we have the constant exoticising of said female lead (seriously, I lost track of how many times Zoe's looks were described as 'exotic'), along with the repeated old favourite of comparing her to food (cinnamon skin and almond-shaped eyes got trotted out a lot). Also, it was vaguely confusing because her skin is sometimes cinnamon and sometimes mahogany, and those are two VERY different shades of brown. But I digress. (And quite aside from that, her constant jealousy and insecurities got... annoying after a while).
Also on the negative side, we have yet another lead character who needs a lesson in "no means no", plus he may yet turn out to be the official series Darwin award candidate (he's certainly a contender) for the scene where he starts trying to get it on with Zoe to distract her WHILE SHE'S FREAKING FORGING ARROWS AND WORKING WITH 1000 DEGREE PLUS MOLTEN STEEL!!!
And yet AGAIN on the negative side, we have both parties in a couple who are apparently incapable of communicating with each other like grown-ass adults. I grant you that Quent's coming from a history as an abused child, while Zoe's pretty much been alone for most of her teenage and adult life... so it's in-character for both of them to be shitty at honest communication. But at the same time that doesn't mean I enjoy hanging out with them while they're acting like kindergarteners on the verge of a temper tantrum.
Oh, and don't get me started on how the the whole "My life's purpose is to kill my father for what he did to me and to the entire planet" thread wraps up.
All in all, I think it's fair to say that this has been my least favourite instalment in the series so far. I want to keep reading to find out how the whole 'defeating the strangers/cult of Atlantis/Elite/whatever-we're-calling-them-this-book' series arc wraps up... but I may reserve judgement on finishing the series depending on how Theo's book (which I believe is coming next) turns out.

2 1/2 stars really. Oh. My. Word. Could Zoe be more annoying? I think not. I’m all for prickly heroines. Seriously, I actually really LOVE love love prickly and cranky heroines (or hero’s!). But this chick was outright obnoxious. When Quent’s ex-girlfriend shows up mid book, I actually and genuinely wanted him to dump Zoe and get back together with his ex. That’s how much I hated her. I also thought this book was really slow, given how good and well paced the first two books in the series were. There just didn’t seem to be a lot happening until the very end. Other than Zoe throwing tantrums/running away/running back for some sexy times/running away again/shooting zombies. Aaaaand repeat.

This third book gives more info on the "Strangers".
There is a powerful, immortal ruling class in this Apocalyptic world. They have crystals embedded into their skins somewhere on their bodies. This 3rd installment finally gives the reader more background on the Strangers and those mysterious crystals. It also, like the first books, has a romance between the main characters in the story. Adult language and sexual scenes.
I like the entire and ongoing premise in this storyline. I like the romance. I DON'T like the Zombies....but I guess we don't always get what we like. I'll put up with the Zombies because I'm enjoying the series. Best to read the books in order.

Not as good as the firstntwo books, they were better. I found these characters to a bit tedious. I'm going to take a break in reading the stories then go back to book 4 latter.

There are several editing issues and some odd plot jumps but over all a good book. I am quite intrigued by the concept and world building. I love Zoe! Quent was kind of a pain in the ass though.

I recommend reading them in order even though they can be read as and individual story. If you read in order you are more aware of what happened before and how the world changed in a day and in the days afterwards.
The story is good but for me the ending was too abrupt and left many unanswered questions.

Quent and Zoe! Finally! After two books of them sneaking around, it's time for their actual story! And it was a little bit disappointing. Zoe is a pain in the butt, Quent is annoyingly angsty (get over yourself, sir!). Neither of them are willing to be open with the other, and that causes 90% of their problems!
It was cool to find out more about the Strangers, though! Seeing their capitol and learning more about the way they work was fun.

My thoughts:
When Quent and his friends exited the cave where they had spent the last fifty years asleep - they found the world completely changed - but they had not changed at all. Physically, at least. They still looked the same, felt the same - but some of them had a new ‘gift’. Quent’s gift is the ability to read an object just by touching it. A pretty nifty trick - as long as someone was there to make sure Quent didn’t get pulled into the memories of that object.
Wandering around for months looking for answers as to the why and how of it all - the group are eventually told to seek out Envy - the largest population of people around. What they find is Las Vegas - but not the Vegas they know and love - they found what is left of Vegas - now called Envy. They also find a small, underground group of people who call themselves the Resistance. What are they resisting? The Strangers.
Who are the Strangers? They are a group of humans who have been granted immortality by imbedding a crystal found deep within the ocean, into their skin. The Resistance think the Strangers are responsible for what has happened to the world.
When Quent and his friends find out more about the Strangers Quent realizes that his own father is a Stranger - and that he is, in part, responsible for the end of the world. Quent decides that he must stop his father before anything else happens.
Zoe Kapoor has lost everything - her whole family was murdered by one of the Strangers Bounty Hunters - and she has spent the last ten years tracking him. She wants nothing more than to kill the man she holds responsible for the murder of her family and the small community of people who lived with them.
When Zoe sees Quent fighting the ganga ( a zombie like creature) she is immediately drawn to him - he is fierce in his fighting and she feels an attraction she has not felt in years - if ever. But she is no girly girl - has no idea how to express what she is feeling and Quent has always been a ladies man. Love ‘em and leave ‘em - but leave ‘em very satisfied. Neither knows how to acknowledge what they feel - but both want the same thing.
I really enjoyed Abandon the Night. This book has plenty of action both in and out of the sheets. :)

When Quent and his friends exited the cave where they had spent the last fifty years asleep - they found the world completely changed - but they had not changed at all. Physically, at least. They still looked the same, felt the same - but some of them had a new ‘gift’. Quent’s gift is the ability to read an object just by touching it. A pretty nifty trick - as long as someone was there to make sure Quent didn’t get pulled into the memories of that object.
Wandering around for months looking for answers as to the why and how of it all - the group are eventually told to seek out Envy - the largest population of people around. What they find is Las Vegas - but not the Vegas they know and love - they found what is left of Vegas - now called Envy. They also find a small, underground group of people who call themselves the Resistance. What are they resisting? The Strangers.
Who are the Strangers? They are a group of humans who have been granted immortality by imbedding a crystal found deep within the ocean, into their skin. The Resistance think the Strangers are responsible for what has happened to the world.
When Quent and his friends find out more about the Strangers Quent realizes that his own father is a Stranger - and that he is, in part, responsible for the end of the world. Quent decides that he must stop his father before anything else happens.
Zoe Kapoor has lost everything - her whole family was murdered by one of the Strangers Bounty Hunters - and she has spent the last ten years tracking him. She wants nothing more than to kill the man she holds responsible for the murder of her family and the small community of people who lived with them.
When Zoe sees Quent fighting the ganga ( a zombie like creature) she is immediately drawn to him - he is fierce in his fighting and she feels an attraction she has not felt in years - if ever. But she is no girly girl - has no idea how to express what she is feeling and Quent has always been a ladies man. Love ‘em and leave ‘em - but leave ‘em very satisfied. Neither knows how to acknowledge what they feel - but both want the same thing.
I really enjoyed Abandon the Night. This book has plenty of action both in and out of the sheets. :)

The story begins in England when Quent is very young, but most of it takes place in America, namely New Vegas (Las Vegas) which has been dubbed, Envy near sixty years later which ironically has become the cradle for most of surviving humanity and has become the largest settlement on American soil.
Fortunately for Quent and four of his friends, because they journeyed into a cave whose energy properties protected them from the effects of the annihilation, the five of them emerge sixty years later still alive and find themselves asking what, how and why. furthering the fantastical aspects of the story are paranormal abilities some of the characters have acquired. Quent has the ability to hold objects and see whose touched it and what the object has been experienced.
Adding a flavor of romance to this fantasy is the character Zoe, who enters Quent’s life upon saving him from a Zombie like creature. But Zoe is protective of the arrows she uses for hunting these undead and requests Quent to return it to her. This sets in motion the relationship between the two of them, Zoe losing an arrow on purpose, and Quent finding it for her and she demanding it returned. The relationship is hot and steamy and when Quent lays eyes on her he finds his mouth dries, his blood rushes, and his heart pounds.
Joss Ware incorporates Zoe’s point of view and her struggles as well as employs Quent’s own life history to build a more solid story and intriguing plot development. The reader will find him or herself falling in love with both characters and hoping they can overcome the tumultuous future that has befallen mankind because of the sinister intentions of others. As the author delves into Zoe’s mind, the reader soon finds her confronted with Raul Marck, a nemesis and soon all hell might break loose.
But as everything is crumbling around them, it seems Quent may hold the keys to the future, but when your Quent with no skills, no resources, and nothing to offer, how do you save the world from your sadistic father?
This was a very entertaining read and I would recommend it to most everyone of a mature audience.

In 2010, Quentin Fielding had pretty much all he could desire: women, money, power. The lack of his father’s approval was the furthest thing on his mind. In fact, he got more pleasure out of antagonizing the older Fielding whenever possible. His own rebellion so to speak. To say Quent is shocked when he and his friends wake up in a cave in Sedona 50 years in the future to discover the world has been destroyed is putting it mildly.
When Quent learns his father is one of the people responsible for the destruction it’s just the cherry on top of the cake. Finding his father, and figuring out his true part in Earth’s demise is top on his list. A very close second on that list is figuring out more about mystery woman Zoe. Zoe who saved his life from gangas when he and his friends were en route to Envy. Zoe who oh-so-casually continues to sneak into his room some evenings, but promptly leaves after a quick tryst (or two).
I was really looking forward to finally getting Quent’s story since Joss Ware laid the foundations for it in Beyond the Night. First, by introducing the obvious love interest in Zoe when she saves Quent’s life, and next with the revelation that his father is one of the Strangers thereby sealing Quent’s dedication to the Resistance so he can finally get the confrontation that is literally decades in the making. Because of this, when all is said and done Abandon the Night definitely feels like the end of a story arc.
Due to the fact that his story has been slowly building for these three books, Quent’s mission is pretty straightforward and doesn’t divert too much. Yes, with each story’s progression, we’re still getting a bigger and better picture of events 50 years ago, but in Abandon the Night we learn a little more of the reason why the disaster happened. Ware is also very prudent with what new information we get. Where some might find things drag on a bit, I find that Ware does a perfect balance of full-disclosure and small hint dropping.
Similarly, the same can be said for Quent and Zoe’s relationship. I viewed them as kind of like the ‘married couple’ whose relationship is going through a rough patch and we get to watch them navigate their way through it. They’ve been paired together since Beyond the Night and I for one didn’t question whether or not they would actually end up together, I just wondered what they would have to go through to get to that point. Before they can, both Quent and Zoe have to put ‘case closed’ on things in their past.
I’ve liked this series up to this point. Ware did leave us with some characters’ lives hanging in the balance. With this story arc complete I’m really interested to see where we go from here.

By large, I mean probably three hundred people or less. It’s been fifty years since the Change, and very little in the way of progress has happened, and that’s because a group of “Strangers” that wear crystals in their skin are pretty much in charge now-but not so much in Envy. Envy houses the secret resistance movement and when the group of men featured in these books arrived from Sedona weeks before, they were quickly recruited to the efforts.
When Quent first traveled to Envy, it wasn’t long before he was rescued by a beautiful woman after being attacked by huge zombies known as Gangas. Zoe is very mysterious to him, and spends her time hunting and killing Gangas. She’s been on her own since her entire family was killed by Gangas, when she was just fifteen. Now ten years later, she is a skilled hunter and very lethal with a bow and arrow. She doesn’t need anyone else, or so she thinks. She wasn’t counting on meeting someone like Quent. Quent was a billionaire playboy before the change, with no skills; now he is trying to find his place in this new world. He too, has a special new ability since waking up in the cave in Sedona, otherwise unchanged, after losing fifty years of his life. Zoe keeps appearing in his life, usually by sneaking into his room. The chemistry of the two is palpable throughout their encounters. Quent wants her to stay but Zoe won’t. This installment is what happens when the two decide to travel together for a mutual quest.
I am having the best time reading these books. Now three books in, the world building continues to develop, and it’s all pretty fascinating. This author is rapidly become a favorite for me, as her books are always well written, premises intricately orchestrated, romances hot, with characters that are both real and flawed. Her villains are truly bad, with nefarious reasons for all their actions. The books are all adventures, with suspense peppered with life and death moments. It all surrounds a wonderful romance, and with this book, the author has outdone herself in that respect, as this one was my favorite, so far. I loved everything about Zoe and her back story and Quent and his equally fascinating back story. Their story together was riveting for me, as the two find the first real love of their lives.
I highly recommend this book and series to paranormal romance fans, as well as dystopian readers. Science fiction fans might really like these, as well.

I finished Abandon the Night in one day. I couldn't put it down. So many questions I had before get answered and are replaced with a whole bunch of new ones I can;'t wait to discover. Just when I thought this series couldn't get any better...
I really didn't know what to think of Quent from the very beginning. Now that I have finished, I got to say I love him. Sassy and angry is my overwhelming impression of him. As his story is revealed, I totally got it. Zoe I at first thought was more feral than human. She also has a sad story and some serious motivation to all her killings. They certainly do quite a bit of boinking (Sneaking Zoe!) but all of it pales in comparison to why they do it. Really I did a lot of giggling with this book but when it's all said and done their story and romance is my favorite so far. If you've read the series you know Quent has a special gift. The who/what/why about it has quite the WOW factor this time around. And when the secret for it is reveal, yeah...I didn't see that coming. Yes these lover get a happy ending and even in the end I was laughing. Oh the hazards of having sex in a tree...BAHAHAHA!!!!
While the story itself is great it's the journals of the people who survived the change That has me riveted. Between most of the chapters there's a glimpse of what one person went through. This is my third book in the series and by now I know somehow it's tied to the current story. When they first appear, I immediately start guessing what the tie in is. Some I find sad but when the puzzle pieces fall into place I find myself excited I guessed right. As for guessing right, I have a theory about the gangas. I'm hoping somewhere in one of the future books the mystery of their origins gets explained. But for now, I'll keep guessing.
It's not secret I am totally loving this series. I know in the near future I'll have the last book in hand and it will be a sad day for me. This world Colleen Gleason created has me so excited. So many unexpected twist and mysteries to discover as they unfold. I want it to go on forever. One thing I do not recommend is reading this series out of order or individually. While each book is about each of the five guys from the past, they also build on each other. Reading them out of order may be confusing. So make sure to start from the beginning.

My Review:
How can these books continue to get better and better when they started out phenomenally?!?! Quentin was an original part of the group that had been hiking in Sonoma when the apocalypse happened. He was a billionaire playboy trying to escape the shadow of his father's overwhelming dominance. The book starts when Quent was 17 being beaten by his father with a riding crop. At that time, he had the means to kill him, but chose not to, not knowing that his father would be instrumental in the destruction of the world 13 years later. Now it's been 50+ years and Quent's entire goal is to make his father (who is an Elite/Immortal/Stranger) pay for his crimes. That is his only goal. Having grown up as a billionaire playboy, he feels that he has nothing else to offer this new society...no money, no influence, no skills. He feels completely and utterly useless in this new society.
His one and only bit of happiness is Zoe. Zoe & Quent have been scorching the pages since book one, but that is all they have...a booty call, which is slowly killing Quent. He wants so much more.
Elliot turned to the door and wrapped his fingers around the knob. "I've known you for ten years- not counting the fifty we were sleeping- and I've not seen you this worked up about a woman. So it's either an ego thing or she's the one."
Quent gave a sharp, short chuckle. "Kind of a leap, from ego to soulmate, don't you think? Can't it just be that she's awesome in bed?"
But Elliot was shaking his head. "Nope. I don't think so. Not the way that you're looking."
He wants more, but is not willing to drop his shields to let Zoe know that he needs more. This is a man that has lived his life hiding behind a fake facade so that no one can damage him and it's so hard for him to drop that.
Coincidentally, Zoe is very much the same way. She lost her entire family at the age of 15 and has spent all her time since alone and focusing all her energies on revenge for the man responsible for their murders. She honestly doesn't even know how to deal with people anymore and is perfectly happy that way, but Quent has gotten under her skin and she can't stay away.
This was a gorgeous love story, watching these two learn to trust one another when neither one of them even know how to do that anymore. There are so many barriers between them, but they gradually tear them all down. It makes for such a beautiful book. I loved Quent. I loved Zoe. I think that they are my favorite new couple of this series...just so damn perfect together. LOVE THEM!

The who/what/why about it has quite the WOW factor this time around. And when the secret for it is reveal, yeah...I didn't see that coming. Yes these lover get a happy ending and even in the end I was laughing. Oh the hazards of having sex in a tree...BAHAHAHA!!!!
While the story itself is great it's the journals of the people who survived the change That has me riveted. Between most of the chapters there's a glimpse of what one person went through. This is my third book in the series and by now I know somehow it's tied to the current story. When they first appear, I immediately start guessing what the tie in is. Some I find sad but when the puzzle pieces fall into place I find myself excited I guessed right. As for guessing right, I have a theory about the gangas. I'm hoping somewhere in one of the future books the mystery of their origins gets explained. But for now, I'll keep guessing.
It's not secret I am totally loving this series. I know in the near future I'll have the last book in hand and it will be a sad day for me. This world Ms. Ware has me so excited. So many unexpected twist and mysteries to discover as they unfold. I want it to go on forever. One thing I do not recommend is reading this series out of order or individually. While each book is about each of the five guys from the past, they also build on each other. Reading them out of order may be confusing. So make sure to start from the beginning.

I have really enjoyed Quent and Zoë since their first encounter and quick hard romp together! And, this was a book I was anxious to read, just to see where this couple could go. And, I wasn’t disappointed! I love the heat between them and they both have their moments of sweetness as well, even if they don’t show it in conventional ways. And, I love how Zoë can make her nickname for Quent, Genius, be an endearment and an insult at the same time!
After the initial heat of their booty calls, started wearing off I did find the book to be a bit dull for a while. But let me tell you when the action picks up, it grabs you and doesn’t let go! And, the ending of this book had me all gooey inside and wanting more! I hope we will still get to see glimpses of this scorching couple in the future books even though ‘their book’ is done.
Oh and Ware is so smart naming her kick-butt heroine the same name that I gave my youngest daughter:) I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us!

OMG, I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!
I must say that I have partially love Quent and Zoë ever since the two of them first met in book #1. The whole teaser in book #2 makes me having expectation to this one. And boy, the book does deliver! So yeah, the best thing in book #3 are the two main characters.
There is this vulnerability in Quent, that is just adorable for me. I don't come across a lot of characters in romance where he is strong but at the same time vulnerable. That is usually the female behavior in other books. While Zoë is a refreshing character for me. While there are a lot of strong-willed and determined female characters in so many book I read, gosh, NOBODY curse like her *lol*. That woman can string a sentence with curses words like a truck driver (which usually is the male typical behavior in other books). Then add the fact that this woman can cook but also can make her own arrows AND she reads murder-mystery books. That is just bloody awesome :).
In addition, the relationship part takes the driver's wheel full time in book #3. In book #1, it's like Joss Ware still tries the water, she descripts more about the post-apocalyptic world, which is while compelling but sort of put Elliott and Jade relationship at the passenger seat. In book #2, the relationship is better but the fact that it involves a love triangle doesn't sit very well with me because it hurts that third party (who is a sympathetic character, not a bad guy). But here, it's just Quent and Zoë, and it involves deeper emotion. Always , ALWAYS, a plus point for me.
The whole journey to the Mecca plot to find Quent's father and the action is also compelling.
This is a wonderful series and in book #3 there are other characters introduced. I sort of thinking that Remy could be with Wyatt -- but then she is struck with Ian. So it makes me wonder. There is also the run-away Stranger, Marley ... whom, well, could be a candidate for Theo. Both having some sort of heartbreak. Theo after Sage and Marley for pining for Quent in the pre-Change. Whatever it is, there are many possibilities that I would like to see.

As the son the man who destroyed the world, the hero wants nothing more than to kill his father for what he's done. The heroine is a bad ass zombie killer who lives for nothing but the quest to kill the man responsible for the death of her family. The two have been involved in a sexual affair for a few weeks now. At first it was nothing more than the scratching of an itch as both the hero and heroine are convinced that the other has multiple partners but as it turns out they are more devoted to each other than the know.
That was the case for everything between the characters. The hero was certainly more, lets say, obvious about his affections but still he was very careful not to reveal too much. The heroine on the other hand kept her emotions very much under wraps. She was inpatient and the truly warrior woman she claimed to be. She came to the hero when she wanted something and left in the morning despite the hero's reluctance to let her do so. But she showed her love for him in the only way she knew how. She saved his life and looked out for him on every occasion. She even determined she would kill his father for him to spar him the guilt and burden of getting blood on his hands. In this new world of zombies and barren life, that is truly the best way to love someone. Neither she nor the hero would ever appreciate empty love gestures and because actions speak louder than words, I felt that their love ran deep and true. I really loved the heroine. She was so funny. She was a battle-hardened woman but she was soft at times and was always willing to help others despite the risk to herself. She swore like a fish and was truly the one in control when it came to their affair. It was on her terms when the hero would get some. And I loved the hero as he was capable enough but he knew that without the heroine he would have been dead long ago. It takes a real man to admit that his woman is stronger than he is.
