Is it real, does it really exist? There are many persons who are doubtful that there is in fact a male version to the female menopause. This is largely due to the fact that men can reproduce even up into their old age, while woman cannot do so when they get to a certain age. However, even though there are persons who do not believe that it does exist; it is in fact a reality. Those men who usually fall between the ages of about forty to forty five and are going through andropause are those who are experiencing issues having to do with a significant decrease in their levels of testosterone. This diminished level of testosterone causes a number of physical, social, emotional, psychological, mental and even sexual issues in men that are andropausal. These men tend to sometimes do things that lead people to think that they are going through what is popularly known as a midlife crisis. This is so due to the fact that men who are going through andropause tend to be re-evaluating their lives and their accomplishments and some wanting to change who they are and what they are doing, may end up doing some of the things that they wanted to do when they were younger but did not get to do. However many of them just now want to be closer to their family members and friends and not to keep doing what they used to do; hence the reevaluation of their priorities and their accomplishments. The main treatment for andropausal men is testosterone replacement therapy.
