Once upon a sleepy forest, there was a not-so-sleepy wolf. No matter what he tries, he just cannot fall asleep. "Sleep must be hiding!" Wolf decides. "I'll just have to go and find it!" The perfect bedtime book for little ones who just can't fall asleep!
When wolf cannot fall asleep, he embarks on a journey with his friends to look for sleep -- from dens to burrows and everything in between. Will they ever find sleep? Or will they discover that it's sleep that needs to find them, after all?
Wolf was trying to sleep but he couldn’t, then he had an idea. Perhaps sleep is hiding and he sets off to find it.
Along the way, he meets Badger and Hedgehog who both try to help Wolf find his sleep. After searching everywhere they decide to ask the wise owl who tells them that they can’t find sleep and that sleep will find them.
Wide Awake Wolf is such a glorious children’s book. It is adorned with beautiful illustrations that fill each page with nightly scenes and three friends all looking for the same thing.
The story is calming, relaxing, and would make an ideal bedtime read. This is a book that will show your children how sleep comes and hopefully have them snuggling down into bed after you have read it to, or with them and gently falling asleep.
I love the plot, including the little twist at the end. I love the colours of the illustrations in their wondrous purples and blues that emphasise night-time, and I love how three friends try to help each other. This is an amazing children’s book that I adored the whole way through.
This was super cute, and I absolutely loved the color palate of deep blues, purples, and greens :) Such a pretty children's book. Also I learned that "grumped" is a word, so there's that xD
Wolf can't get to sleep, and thinks that sleep must be hiding from him. He goes searching for sleep in the forest, and recruits some other woodland creatures to help him. They look in a yawn, they look in a lullaby, and they even look in Badger's dreams. But only when they are quiet and still will sleep finally find them.
I loved this adorable story and the sweet idea of searching for sleep like a thing to be found!
I thought it was cute how Badger and Hedgehog joined in Wolf's quest for sleep, but I didn't understand why Rabbit didn't join them. He just kind of disappeared into the background and didn't join the friends at the end.
I completely fell in love with the soothing illustrations. The forest background is full of cool purples and blues with moonlight filtering through the trees. The woodland animals are so charming and sweet. I just love the soft art style!

LOOKING FOR SLEEP is a charming and sweet picture book, featuring a wolf who is searching for sleep. Wolf is having trouble sleeping, so he decides that sleep must be hiding. He sets off in search of it, coming across Badger, who joins him in his search after Wolf woke him up, thinking he had it. They are later joined by Hedgehog, who was singing a lullaby, which meant that sleep must be near. Finally, they go to ask Owl for help in finding sleep - and Owl helps to give them some good advice about finding sleep.
What I loved: This is a lovely story about elusive sleep, with plenty of tips slipped in along the way. The adorable animals featured in the detailed illustrations make this a fantastic book for young children to enjoy. The muted colors and nighttime scenes make for a great bedtime book. The story is silly cute, and children will enjoy the funny search for sleep, and the encounters that Wolf has along the way. With a great story and illustrations, this one is a win for preschoolers and young elementary school aged children.
What left me wanting more: As a bedtime book, the story is fantastic, but some of the black font is printed on deep blues that make it difficult to read in low bedtime light. The text is nice and large and otherwise easy to read - as long as you have plenty of light!
Final verdict: Sweet, charming, and with lovely illustrations, LOOKING FOR SLEEP is a great bedtime picture book choice for preschool through elementary school aged children.

Wolf can't sleep. Maybe sleep is hiding from him. He sets off on a quest to find sleep wherever it may be, but no matter what he tries or how his friends help him, he's going to need something more than determination to catch that sneaky sleep.
This book absolutely felt like it was giving me a hug (I hugged it back; it's only fair). The illustrations were magical and dreamy, and the writing, while simple, was everything I could have hoped for in a bedtime story. I want to keep this one near me every night.
Just about as perfect a bed time story as you can get for kids of all ages. It’s poetic, wholesome, and my wife and I loved the framing of the story as we’ve read it to our daughter many nights in a row.
This was very cute. A group of forest animals goes looking for sleep in the night, but they can't seem to find it. I loved the illustration style, and I loved Badger.
This one was really nice. I liked all of the woodland animals and I especially liked the not-so-sleepy wolf. I’m glad they eventually found sleep just like I did after we read it together
Despite trying various techniques, Wolf simply can't sleep. And when Wolf is awake and restless, none of the other animals can sleep either. Wolf makes sure that they know he's bothered as he goes in search of sleep and awakens the other creatures in the forest. After disturbing and enlisting the services of Badger, Hedgehog, Rabbit, and Owl, it seems clear that finding sleep isn't as easy as Wolf expected it to be. The other animals are just as tired as Wolf is, and when Owl reads them a bedtime story, and finally, they find sleep or sleep finds them. Youngsters will love the page showing the friends curled up together as they snooze and the double-page spread that shows Rabbit's reaction after being tickled with a feather. This title might be a good one to share at bedtime to lull a little one to sleep. Just be sure to read it with the right amount of volume, growing softer and softer toward the conclusion.
The illustrations are beautiful and create a sense of night time which could be explored further with the class. This book could read at any point of the day to calm the class down as it is quite slow and melodic. There are a lot of chances for discussion about what the characters are doing and it allows pupils to bring their own experiences (how do they find sleep, do they think wolf is searching for sleep in the correct why, should wolf have tickled the sleeping rabbit with a feather).
