THE VOW

I had my chance to run from these brutal boys and I didn’t take it. The bonds between us are too strong now. Bonds of blood, oaths, betrayal and vengeance. And I intend to make good on all of them. I’ve made my list. And I won’t stop until each and every one of their crimes has been paid for.

Divide and conquer. We’re going to tear them apart from the inside out. I won’t quit until I’ve had my pound of flesh and then some. These broken boys paint themselves up as kings and stand themselves on a pedestal above everybody else. But that only means they’ve got further to fall. And they’re going to fall hard.

I know their strength now, but I’ve learned their weaknesses too. And I might just be becoming their greatest one. My father taught me how to survive, and it’s time to use everything I know about predators to lure them into my own trap.

Lies, betrayal, seduction. I’ll use every weapon at my disposal to bring them to their knees and once I’m done with them, they won’t own me.

I’ll own them.

This is book 2 in a dark romance series with love-hate themes, scenes of intense bullying, sexual scenes and may have triggers for some readers. It is a reverse harem which means the main character will end up with multiple partners.

"Pretty soon I’d be in rehab telling a circle of strangers, Hi I’m Tatum Rivers and I’m addicted to cruel boys with black hearts."

They did it again. I devoured this book and I'm happy with my new addiction. And don't even get me started on the relationships that begin to take contour here, because that was amazing. So amazing that I wasn’t even bothered by that cruel cliffhanger at the end, but I must say, knowing that the rest of the series is out and I don't have to wait for the third book might have also been a good way to soften the blow.

“How’d you even wake up anyway? You sleep like the freaking dead,” I muttered and Kyan paused by the door.
“Heard you scream.” He shrugged. “I guess even the dead would wake for you, baby. Better check the crypt for zombies.”

》》The Plot《《

After the attack on the school, everyone has to stay quarantined for 48 hours, the boys have to get rid of a body and Monroe has to settle into his new role as headmaster. When Kyan, Saint and Blake decide to also offer Monroe the chance of being the fourth Night Keeper, he and Tatum consider it a good opportunity to continue working together on sabotaging them. Especially with Tatum's list of things she wants payback for. But the events of the night of the attack also shifted something in Tatum's relationship with the boys and she gets the chance of also setting up some rules of her choosing.
Things also start heating up a notch and we finally have relationships forming, jealously outbursts and fights. And when Tatum's father calls with unexpected news, things stir up even more.

》》Characters and Relationships《《

👩🏼🧑🏽🧑🏻🧑🏿‍💼🧑🏼 Tatum and the Night Keepers

"I wondered what it would be like to have a normal relationship like that. With a normal boy. Probably very different to being bound to three assholes and my headmaster in what could only be described as a five-way relationshit."

I love how Monroe starts integrating with this group of theirs and how everything is deliciously fucked up. It's complicated and tangled and full of banter and eye rolling and punishments for all of them.

"I wanted that to be a lie, but it wasn’t. I felt things for the Night Keepers, all of them. They each awoke a different part of me. And I secretly wanted to explore them all. Or maybe not so secretly now."

Also, the love-hate relationship between Tatum, Kyan, Blake and Saint is so weirdly satisfying and frustrating at the same time that I don't even know how to react. But I can definitely appreciate the distinctive way the authors have begun to shape each individual relationship.

👩🏼🧑🏻 Tatum and Blake

"I despised him, understood him, wanted him. I was lost and confused yet there was nowhere in the world I wanted to be right now but here, sharing that ache inside me with someone who truly knew what it felt like to suffer the way I had suffered over the loss of my sister."

Their relationship is going to be the sweet one, I can feel it. With Blake tormented by remorse and regrets, he goes full Prince Charming a few times and he's actually apologizing for all of his wretched behavior. And while an apology may not be enough, he's willing to do anything to win his redemption.

“I’m sorry,” I murmured against her lips. “For all the fucked up shit we’ve done. For it being my fault. For blaming you even though it wasn’t you. And for the gun…the fucking gun-”
“That’s not good enough,” she growled, kissing me again and tugging me towards my room.

Their relationship still has a long way to go, but I liked how he was the first one to admit and realize he wants her and is willing to simply accept that. He turned back to being the golden boy we caught a glimpse of during the first book and I can't wait for more sweet moments with them in the next books.

👩🏼🧑🏽 Tatum and Kyan

"I tried to ignore how good that felt and how my heart fluttered at the sight of this man beneath me. I wanted to conquer him like an empress invading a savage land. I wanted to tame the people, build roads and hospitals and provide food to the-
Jesus fucking Christ, Tatum, stop trying to civilise the country of Kyan."

OK, as you may well remember, Kyan was my favourite in the previous book. His wild behavior that hides that big big heart, his way of taking care of Tatum and never actually hurting her were just impossible not to like. And we finally got some spice from these two, even if it wasn’t everything we might have been expecting.

“Do you know what the difference between us is, Tatum Rivers?” Kyan shouted to me over the wind and the rain and I pushed myself up to sit.
I shook my head, my body too numb for me to stand yet as I drank in the ferocity in his eyes.
“You’re everything and I’m nothing. And the worst thing about that is…you know it.”

I liked discovering more about his family and his past, because it made it easier to understand him and his feelings of frustration, even if it was kind of painful to watch him thinking do little of himself and his worth. I kind of appreciated and got angry at the same time with his conviction that Tatum was too good for him. And you know what I'm waiting for? FOR THESE TWO TO KISS.

👩🏼🧑🏼 Tatum and Monroe

"I can’t promise you a fancy house and two point four kids. I can’t even promise you tomorrow. And I’m not asking you to promise me anything. This…us…it isn’t going to be easy. It isn’t going to be clean and pretty, but I want to give you the pieces of me that aren’t totally corrupted. I want to give you whatever good and decency I’m capable of giving. I want to protect you and worship you and help you destroy your enemies. So yeah, I care about you Tatum Rivers, and I want you even though I shouldn’t."

AGAIN. Big LANCE ORION - DARCY VEGA vibes here. And I loveeeee it. They kept denying all the feelings and kept running circles around each other, but they've finally cracked and I think this is the closest thing to a love declaration we've been given in two books.

"Monroe stood at my side through anything, a fierce protector with a dark heart. And I would be his protector too. His knight. His ride or die. We were in this together, more deeply than I’d ever realised."

They've kept things on allies level at start, just plotting against Saint, Blake and Kyan, but with Monroe becoming the fourth Night Keeper, the lines started getting blurred. Despite them starting as allies and going for friends who share a powerful attraction besides secrets and plots, their relationship is in no way easy, Monroe insisting he can't look at her as anything more than his student. Even after he shared his past with her.

“Right now, I’ve got a point to prove.”
“What point?” she asked.
“I think the exact wording was that arrogant assholes like me don’t know a G-spot from our elbows and wouldn’t be able to find your clit with a map and GPS…”
Her lips popped open and an embarrassed laugh spilled from her lips.

But when they finally gave in, it was rewarding with all the spiciness and heat going on. And I loved it even more that Monroe got to meet her father and that her father actually approved of him.

👩🏼🧑🏿‍💼 Tatum and Saint

"I lay in the arms of the devil, wondering if I’d been wrong to think of him as inherently evil. Cruel maybe. But perhaps he really had been an angel once and sometime long ago, he’d lost his wings."

I don't hate him anymore. He's still an insufferable plan it all control freak, but he and Tatum found a sort of middle ground and, even if their relationship has by far the most tension, I think it will be extremely satisfying when we'll get more than the breadcrumbs we were offered. He's soo stern and be follows rules as if his life depends on it, so there was barely any spice here, but I think the two of them started forming a special kind of connection.

“You wanted me broken and keeping my letters proves you’re still trying to break me.”
His eyebrows rose. “I did want that, yes. But I’m not trying to break you anymore, Tatum, I’ve seen the power in you, I’ve seen what you truly are. Now…I’m shaping you.”
I tutted, looking away from him. “Think what you like, Saint. You can try to break me, shape me or whatever else. But the one thing you will never, ever manage to do, is keep me.”

He cares for her in a way that I think scares him and he sure as hell doesn't know what to do with that. He's jealous and possessive and yet he's determined to keep his distance, while also ready to tear apart anyone who dares hurt her in any way. I liked it when she shocked him with different unexpected situations, but I liked it even more when he comforted her without asking any sort of questions. If I thought that waiting for Kyan and Tatum to kiss will be hard, I think I'm gonna see fireworks when these two will finally kiss.

》》Conclusion《《

“This is a bit awkward. Did y’all realise she had so many boyfriends or is this the revelation of her promiscuity I’m witnessing?”

I loved it even more than the first one, with Tatum taking her sweet revenge, with Monroe being more present and with all the spice going on. It was satisfying and it got my inner fangirl totally excited and squeaky.

“I swear to Christ, if someone doesn’t tell me what the fucking squid emoji means soon, I’m going to lose my shit.”

"Monsters thrive in the company of their kind."

🦑Reread Update🦑

"Tatum belongs to us. So she stays with us. No matter what. Until the end."

I love this series with all of my heart and there is honestly nothing more I can say that I haven’t already said. Tatum is a badass, Kyan is crazy (in a hot way), Blake is Prince Charming, Monroe is authoritative (again in a good way), and Saint is 🦑 (IYKYK).

"Tatum Rivers. My temptation, my sweet torture, my endless agony, and now maybe she would be my salvation… Our Night Bound beauty."

With each and every book it just gets better and better and this reread just sucked me back in hook line and sinker 🖤🖤
Also (side note) this book gives very much "Joke's on You" by Charlotte Lawrence and honestly I love 👏💋
And if I had one sentence to describe the sequel is - "Don't get mad. Get everything 😈"

"I was their captive and their queen… One day soon this kingdom would fall."

The twisted sisters capture their books in such good playlists but you know I had to go ahead and add a couple of good hours to the playlist 🤣🤣

3.5 Thanks to my bestie Cecelia for reading this crazy rollercoaster of a book with me!

I am enjoying the tea that this book is giving but it just lacks the sparkle that I enjoy from the other series in the sisters catalog. I think it may be the lack of magic or fantasy aspect since this is more of an alternate reality universe. It dragged on a bit but I did enjoy Tatum getting some payback!

Saint- Is still Satan, I still hate him.
Blake- Is my favorite, I love him, he's so baby!
Kyan- I still like him but he lost points bc he's being annoyingly stubborn.
Monroe- I like him, he's the most decent one and so sweet and protective.
Tatum- Is a total badass, my fave character.

Will keep reading bc I am on a mission, and I need to know how it ends. 😊

Revenge is a bitch and I am her - okay Tatum pop off 👀

Spoilers below 🦑🦑🦑🦑

Okay can we take a minute to talk about the ending because what the hell?! Cliff hanger of all cliff hangers!!! The twisted sisters have done it again 😭😭

This was a little slower than the first book but I still loved it! I love that Tatum is getting her revenge on all the boys 1 at a time and they are all obsessed with her 😅 Nash has my whole entire heart and I was waiting patiently all book for something to happen between them the will they won’t they was driving me insane 😭😭😭

The ending!!!! Her dad being murdered??? Saint has been shot - is he alive??😭 Tatum has been kidnapped 😭 everything is so so bad!!

Also a special shoutout to the use of the squid 🦑 emoji I’m obsessed with Saint being so confused by it 😭😭🦑

My favourite quotes:

“There’s no turning back now, brother,” he said. “You’ve made your bed with the devil. Time to come lie in it with us.”

“I’m a Night Keeper now,” he said in a low tone and my eyebrows rose as I realised he was being serious. “Punish me, princess.” Nash is everything 🫶🏼🫶🏼

She still held my hand and my skin burned where it met hers, like I was ice and she was fire and we were destined to collide like this again and again until one of us was destroyed.

I’m taking my library time now. *squid emoji*   I snorted a laugh as their replies poured in.   Blake: What does the squid mean??   Saint: Was that a mistake, Barbie? Because emojis are for simpletons who are unable to use the English language to effectively express their emotions. P.S. A squid is not even an emotion or an idea and, therefore, it offends me that it is included in the emoji collection. Most emojis offend me in a similar fashion. The crustaceans are not quite as offensive as the clocks however, of which there are 24, showing times at half past the hour or on the hour, essentially stating that quarter past or quarter to the hour is irrelevant. It’s quite disturbing.   Kyan: *Octopus Emoji* 🦑🦑

“I swear to Christ, if someone doesn’t tell me what the fucking squid emoji means soon, I’m going to lose my shit.” 🦑

“Be honest with yourself. The world won’t fall, I promise. I’ll hold it up for you,”

“I fought this so hard because I knew you’d be the end of me, Tatum Rivers,”

She was mine and I was hers and even the world falling to ruin around us couldn’t stop me from claiming her now.

Update 1: “Hi I’m Tatum Rivers and I’m addicted to cruel boys with black hearts.” Aren’t we all Tatum 🥵

Pre-reading: When the series is so good you start book 2 immediately🤭!

I raced through this second book in record time and again it’s a long one. So after the dramatic events of the previous book the group dynamics and the boys relationship with Tatum is evolving not only do they now have a new member Nash Monroe PE Teacher and now headmaster their previous violent experience together has bonded them as one unit and they have all now realised they’re prepared to kill to keep Tatum safe including Nash.

Now don’t go getting all excited these boys are still total assholes just slowly evolving ones. Saint is the one still being the most extreme here but the relentless abuse here has definitely been dialled back so if the first book scarred you slightly this one is less extreme there’s still punishments of course but there in less of a sadistic vein here Saint Kyan and Blake all start a steady climb towards redemption and these boys are all obsessed and besotted just in different ways with keeping and owning Tatum.

Blake especially regrets and feels deep guilt over his previous actions he was the catalyst that started it after all whilst Tatum sets out here to get herself some much-needed payback wanting to make these boys pay for their past treatment of her and it was beautiful to watch.

We also have Monroe struggling with his forbidden attraction to Tatum pulling back from her slightly after they shared a moment together that has long been brewing. There’s also a stalker on the loose threatening Tatum’s safety I’m not quite sure that one's been fully resolved yet I don’t know it just seemed too easy. And then there was that explosive finish and my heart was literally in my mouth.

So I definitely think the boys are all firmly on the path to redemption they all seem much more human here there all still monsters but ones that do have a common care in Tatum. We also get to understand Saint more and how much he needs the routines he’s surrounded himself with, it’s his way of controlling his environment and Tatum is very much a part of this now. Then we have Kyan struggling with outside issues and he’s also keeping secrets and pushing away Tatum partly because of a lack of self-worth but also for her own protection. While Blake is still trying to find an outlet for his grief he also realises he was in the wrong and totally fucked up with Tatum and is now extremely remorseful and trying to do better by Tatum.

We also get to learn some more about the unspeakable’s and I was surprised to find that they were not so cut and dried as previously portrayed in book one. All in all, this was a great read that has managed to capture my attention this is despite me not being a big fan of bully romances or at least ones this extreme. I do like how obsessive and totally over the top the night keepers are and despite it being totally toxic and everything unhealthy I can’t get enough and it’s definitely addictive to read that’s for sure.

hated it from start to finish

i forced this book on myself and it was torture the whole time. book one made me hate all the characters. book two made me vow never to pick up another title by this author. it was atrocious, truly. bully romances walk a thin line and this book sprinted perpendicular from that line. i’m telling you, save yourself. book 1 was bad but i was far too invested and kept giving the MC way too much credit than she was due. no one has any redeeming qualities. none of them. book 2 took me so long to read because i was literally torturing myself. idk how many times i need to say it before it feels like it’s enough, but one more time for posterity before i purge this from my mind and memory: this book and it’s predecessor was excruciatingly bad. don’t waste your time

"This woman. This devil. This angel. She was everything in that moment."

Tatum had the chance to run but she didn’t take it and the bonds between her and these brutal boys are stronger than ever. Tatum wants vengeance and won’t stop until each and every one of their crimes has been paid for. These broken boys paint themselves up as kings and stand themselves on a pedestal above everybody else. But that only means they’ve got further to fall. And they’re going to fall hard. Tatum won't quit until each of them has suffered.

⤷ Tatum is such a badass character she doesn't take shit from the guys and I loved the scenes where she got her revenge but I still hope she doesn't give in too easily and make them work more for it!

⤷ I'm not the biggest fan of Monrose but his character is important and it will be interesting to see his development with Saint considering their past!

⤷ One of my least favorite things in books is teacher and students tropes which make me very uncomfortable and unfortunately, the relationship between Tatum and Manrose developed but the reason why I haven't given the book a lower rating because this trope is clearly stated in the description and I went into this knowing that which is my fault!

⤷ Saint is still my favorite out of all the male characters as he's the most interesting to read about and closed off! Can't wait to read more about his backstory in the next few books!

⤷ I enjoyed reading about them but Kyan made me frustrated a lot but I understood why he was acting the way he is and felt a lot for him! Blake is still a mystery he seems so light-hearted at times but in reality, he can be the cruelest out of them all!

⤷ We got to learn more the guys which really changed the way I view them and made me respect them in some aspects but they still haven't completely wined me over!

"I know, sweetheart. You’re trained to survive, to thrive on your own. But that doesn’t mean you should, right?"

These books are hard to put down! Recommend for anyone looking for a dark and fast-paced book to read!

Thank you, Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti, for providing a copy of this book for an honest review! :)

I Tried...

The relentless internal monologue kept dragging on and on and on and on. I skipped through a bunch of it because it was extremely repetitive. I was waiting for more action, anything regarding the Hades virus, something!!!! I mean majority of the book was her pulling pranks on the guys for revenge and then being cruelly punished for them. Wasn’t till the last 96% of the book that the storyline picked up. Liked the first book...this book I could take it or leave it.

Dnf @75%. I just couldn't take this anymore. It's too long and there isn't much plot there to justify the length of it.

This book went something like this for me:

5%- Tatum is the stupidest girl I've ever had the pleasure of meeting 😪 Her list was shit (and missing a lot of the other stuff the guys did to her). And she let them actually control her. There's a difference between possesive and controlling and I appreciate that thick line.....Tatum doesn't. I hate that she makes them breakfast and let them dress her.....wtf girl, it isn't the 50s!!!
Oh also, she was shit at making contracts or negotiating. Actually shit.

11%- Monroe is ruined too😒 What a fucking waste of a good character. What they did to Bait was despicable.....I can imagine Monroe and Tatum taking their revenge in some way but who will revenge kids like Bait? 😥 The entire time they were tormenting Bait, my mind was flashing with images of people killing themselves because of the bullying they faced. I LOVE darkness but this was just unnecessary and shitty.

Random places in the book before 75%:
1) This is getting super boring.
2) Tatum seriously considers THAT revenge?!! Except the fish stuff with Kyan and Saint's records, nothing was even worthy of being called a revenge plan. It was some stupid pranks, emphasis on the stupid. How does 5 min of them in the storm compare to her storm incident which involved them terrorising her, making her feel helpless and worthless, blackmailing her to do something against her will, and leaving her in a raging storm for 5 hours in just a uniform?!!! This girl is ....aaaaaaargh. 😫😣
3) Why am I still reading this?!
4) Okay, Bait and the unspeakables deserved it. So Monroe is not that ruined.....but still, he became a lame character after joining the Night keepers.
5) They haven't apologised properly, much less grovelled, and she already has feelings for them.....just kill me now.
6) Oh God, ofc they'll bring parents into it now. And OFC, the worst will be big bad Saint's big bad Daddy🙄

At 75%, I just couldn't take Tatum making a fool of herself and grinding her self-respect into dust under her own boots with her half-cocked lame-ass revenge. Just No.

ARC exchanged (although I'm still buying a copy on release day... it was that incredible)

Kings of Lockdown completely flipped Kings of Quarantine on is arse and launched it side to side for shits and giggles! In Quarantine, we knew from the get-go that Tatum's treatment was unjustified and I spent most of the first book thinking how in the world were Caroline and susanne going to make the knight keepers even remotely redeemable?

Well... of course the duo were like...

In Lockdown, we see Tatum's backbone flourish. we always knew it was there, but we finally get to see her serving up some cold hard revenge. Hands down, the best part of it was that she used their own methods of torture as payback. So, get ready to laugh your arse off because Tatum sneaking off and getting up to no good had me busting a gut serval times! Even the keepers found the humour in it because deep down they knew they deserved it.

However, don't expect a complete 180 of the Knight keeper's. They are back and better than ever. Their level of cruelty still knows no bounds and their inner monsters are still ever present. Tatum pushes and they push right back just as always. Although, this time we grasp a better understanding of the driving force behind why they are the way they are and the reasons behind their actions. (especially Saint!)

Like the guys, I found myself seeing the sacred stone sacrifice less as a a curse and more like fate. Tatum come's alive within the (five way relation-shit)... and the keepers have a true purpose. To protect and worship Tatum like the queen she is! The time spent in the Temple as a group (also pizza night) was when you could really see the possibilities of the relation-shit.

It was also the setting for many naughty times... as Lockdown takes the sexual angst of Quarantine to the next level, it was FIRE. It was also the only time I was cursing Tatum's superior resistance and inabilitiy to forgive. It was badass but infuriationg. I spent every angst filled moment like...

But, it was also the most humorist when Tatum got hers and was like...

If you thought Quarantine was immense, Lockdown trumps it tenfold. The story drives forward with so much action, angst, tension, cruelty, stalking, humour and twists! Also, prepare for a rough ending, it comes at you like a truck... and the queens of cliffhangers are behind the wheel.

..when can I get the third book because holy crap..

Kings of Lockdown did not disappoint. Of course these books seem so freaking long and you'd think you would get bored at some point.. but nope, it was addicting. Beyond addicting because I flew threw it just like the first book. Of course, you are still with the same gang of douches but it also seems like Tatum is still holding her own against these guys.

At some point, she starts to break down their walls and barriers which lead to some delicious sexual tension that completely tortured me. That being said, I am so happy that she finally slept with someone. Like, hot damn girl, it was bound to happen and I was not disappointed at all. Thank my lucky stars!

Now I just need her to do that with everyone and I will be happy as a clam.

Other than that, this book does have it's mysterious. Someone is following her and being all kinds of stalker-ish. I'll even admit the creepy poems were a nice touch. I'm also a bit shocked with how this ended. Not sure how or if I will ever get over it but now I just need the next book to calm me down. I have so many questions and I really need answers. I also really need a good reunion too.

“Revenge is a bitch and I am her.”

I said in my review for Kings of Quarantine that this series might be my new favorite and this book just makes that statement more valid. I read this thing so fast and got mad at anyone who disturbed me. I couldn't put it down! There was never a dull moment. We learned more about all the characters in this book, including the Unspeakables and trust me some of the things you learn will shock you. The main theme of this book was revenge, but it wasn’t all anger and sadness. There were lots of laughs, steam, and my favorite, growth.

“You have to let yourself be weak so that you can be strong again.”

Our main girl Tatum is incredible. She is so strong no matter what the guys throw her way. She not only takes what they give, but she gives it back twice as much. I love all her revenge ideas and how clever she was going about them. Also it was nice of her to use the boys' desires against them. They truly deserved everything she did and more for all the crap she put up with. Our girl has some restraint though. There were so many times I wanted her to strangle one of them, but she kept calm and held on until she was able to get her own punishments in. I am so proud that even though she was starting to feel things for the guys, she didn’t let that stop her from making them pay for their crimes. Once again this book showed how real her character is. How she is not afraid to show her teeth when she is angry or cry when she is sad. It shows that to be a tough chick you don’t have to be strong and in control 100% of the time.

“I know, sweetheart. You’re trained to survive, to thrive on your own. But that doesn’t mean you should, right?

These boys like to make me question myself. I never know if I should be cheering for them or punching them. I do love the growth they showed in this book. I honestly didn’t see myself forgiving them after the last book or at least not until the end of the series and some serious groveling, but this book really helped see their perspective. Was anything they did okay? No. But learning about their lives and history helps see their character better and reasons why they think it should have been okay. I also enjoyed seeing them work through their issues and realize that they were wrong and try and let Tatum into the group more and not just be their pet. The times when they let go of everything and just enjoyed being carefree were some of my favorites.

“Those boys were a world of trouble, but sometimes...they were a world of fun too.

Blake won my heart this book. He is going through so much grief and doesn’t know where to direct it. I hope he and Tatum can help each other through that journey especially with the ending. Kyan is a mix of love and annoyance for me. I understand how troubled he is and why he thinks treating Tatum the way he does is for the greater good. I just wish he would see by doing so he is also hurting her and himself. Saint, Saint, Saint. This boy is something else. I was happy we got to figure out his need for control. Get inside his head a bit more. His dad really did a number on him, but I loved how Tatum helped him overcome some of his darkness. Their agreed punishments were my favorite. I respect that he followed her rules and never broke them, even if I was begging him to sometimes. He is still a bit of a mystery and I can’t wait to learn more about his childhood and his father. Monroe, my knight and shiny armor. Oh, I didn’t think it was possible to love him anymore, but the authors proved me wrong. Learning his back story and why he has it out for Saint’s family broke my heart. I wish I could jump into the book and hug him. I enjoyed the start of his friendship with the Night Keepers. His growing relationship with Tatum had my heart soaring. Him being her support through it all and letting her be free when she was with him was everything. I loved that she has an insider now and they share mutual a goal. Plus, the sexual tension between them was fire.

“She used to say find your tribe. Only let people into your life who make it better, who understand you on a soul-deep level. And once you find them, never let them go.”

I feel like I say this in all my reviews for Caroline and Susanne’s books, but holy cliffhanger! They always have to mess with my head. Can’t we ever have a happy peaceful ending?? But seriously, it wouldn’t be one of their amazing books without it and I secretly love it (Shhh! Don’t tell them!) I just will be sitting here in agony until the next book.

I have such mixed feelings about this series. Like, the plot is decent enough, and there are twists and turns. But the characters are awful. I enjoy some of them, i LOVE Monroe. Blake had his downfalls but i feel like i can somewhat excuse him especially since he apologized and tried better. Kyan still kinda sucks but he’s written to be charming enough? Saint has zero redeeming qualities for me. Absolutely none.

Tatum also felt like she was written all over the place. She has certain reactions that felt out of place, like goading Monroe into watching her sex tape with Blake. That felt totally out of place. She’s also alwaysssssssss “panting” and “gasping” at any little touch. She seems like she has zero control over her body to always get what she wants. Also, giving into Saint and his dominant ways? Like..... he’s tortured you so much. I was all for her getting her revenge. But then of course, the twist at the end makes it seem set up for his redemption. I felt really bad about the death at the end though. I also think the stalker theory isn’t done yet. I think she has Stockholm syndrome lol.

I also felt like from the end of the first book things were gonna change for them, but of course it didn’t. We wait forever, and she’s still punished for a bunch of things. It’s annoying, especially when they keep saying “our queen,” she’s so tempting, she’s everything. It’s like... words mean nothing, please do some actions!

The Unspeakable plot line..... was awful. Like, i understand that maybe half of them didn’t do good things, but the torture they’re put through? Like they’re all teenagers for God’s sake. If the Night Keepers get their redemption, why don’t any of these kids? When arguably, the NK have done things that are just as bad. Toby doesn’t even get a chance to defend himself and i strongly believe that he’s not at fault still. What they do to Bait (i know what he did wasn’t right, but also he was so bullied before then he thought this would be his way out) is absolutely disgusting. I hoped Tatum would feel the slightest bit to help him, and maybe Monroe too, but of course not.

These books are really long, and detailed, and typically I love that. But i feel like certain parts could’ve been shorter. The internal monologues, especially from the guys POV, is endless. And they speak like no one from their age lol.

Disappointed

This book was just a lot of "deep thoughts" mixed in with immature pranks. I was skimming through endless internal dialog and rolling my eyes at some of the stupid pranks the heroine caused. I considered reading the next book but it doesn't release for another 6 months. Not that interesting to keep me on the hook that long.

There’s so much happening, especially in the last 25 % that it left me speech- and breathless. It felt like I rushed through this last chapters and I need to start the third book now, that cliffhanger isn’t an easy one.

When it comes to characters, we still have our main character, Tatum. She was giving me serious head injuries in this book, jumping from hate to want to hate within seconds. Sometimes you really had to concentrate to keep up with her moods. In this book we also get to know Saint a little better. He was the most unlikeable Night Keeper and, in my opinion, he still is, even though the author at least tried to make him look better, but for me it didn’t work completely.

The series is giving me a good time and I have lots of fun reading it, even though I’m baffled at times at some decisions. It’s not the most realistic, but still very enjoyable.

“That power-hoarding, soap-wielding, dickzilla. One day I’ll ram a bar of soap down his throat and see if it can clean his filthy, wicked innards.” - I snort laughed at this. This is the Tatum we need to see.

So in this instalment Tatum got some much needed revenge. It was sweet. But not sweet enough for me. They still treat her like their favourite toy that gets passed around like a church collection plate, which is the most demeaning of all their crimes.
Tatum needs to stand her ground more with the whole scheduling and dressing her up bullshit.

Although I loved learning about what makes each guy tick I don’t think that any of the guys have redeemed themselves completely yet. But I do have empathy for them all.

I’m impressed that I was able to feel empathy and sympathy for Saint. I can’t wait to find out his full backstory. His Dad is a real piece of shit.
I’ll admit the spanking and directing Blake and Kyan during the dares game was hot as fuck... And the toy. *Inserts squid emoji and bites fist*

As the characters developed it felt like each of the guys morphed into the stereotypical MMC found in other popular books within the bullymance trope.
The psychopath
The guy with mob ties
The broken guy with overwhelming grief
The guy who wants to avenge the loss of a loved one.
I’d hoped that this book would be different from others within the genre but I think the similarities took away from my enjoyment of the book a little.

Kyan and Monroe are still my favourites of the guys. Kyan’s sleepy ramblings were hilarious.
“You can’t tape a screwdriver to your dick and use it to stab people… that’s no way to treat your tools.” I live for this content.

Kyan kiss her already you sexy fool!

Monroe *drools* About fucking time.

I was quite irritated that Tatum was too dense to bother digging deeper to find out why the unspeakables earned their names before she risked herself to defend their honour (or lack-thereof).

I don’t think Punch was the stalker.

This book consisted of some satisfying revenge, backstory and a lot of filler and fluff and picked up towards the end. I’m surprised to say that this book didn’t need to be so long. So I was undecided between 3.5 and 4 stars but have rounded up bc I love the authors and their writing so much. I wasn’t as gripped as I was in book one but I still enjoyed this instalment very much.

They are still assholes and I don't like them that much but they are really growing on me (Besides Monroe. Loved him since the beginning) but if I had the chance, I would 100% deck Kyan, Saint, and Blake in the face real good but all these cute moments be getting to me fr. Still, I don't forgive them fully but they are getting there..kinda. You can definitely tell they all care about Tatum though. No matter how bitchy they are, it's as clear as day and I'm glad we got to see them regretful for what they did to her. And I'm glad we got to see her not taking their shit and getting back at them.

2nd time reading

I'm having fun rereading these books and now I'm caught up with what happens. I am more skeptical of the guys this time, especially Saint. I don't think he's done anything to make up for how poorly he treated Tatum and it's killing me that she cares so much about him. In book three, he'd better change his attitude if I'm going to get behind him.

There's still so much going on, especially with all of it taking place at the school. I hope we move to a different location in the next story, I'm ready to see what's happening in the rest of the world.

****************************************

This book was so crazy! After the first one, I thought maybe the guys would be nicer to Tatum and feelings would be admitted, but instead the fighting got more intense and some truths were revealed.

I did like that we saw the guys care for Tatum and they all really get off on the pranks and hatred. Having Tatum in harm's way does show how protective they are of her and a couple times there were actual sweet moments.

The ending was just insane and I can't believe I have to wait until New Year's for the next book!

Holy Squids and Octopus's

Caroline and Susanne have once again left me gagging for more!!!! These ladies are my go to authors when I need a good read as there writing is so engaging it is unreal!!!

Kings of Lockdown is full of ass kicking, payback, body worshiping and all the things a good book needs. I dont think I could read quick enough to see what was happening next and I was never disappointed!!! Just wow!

Our 4 Night Keepers really give us some insights in this book, they are all so different but yet connected by an undeniable bond, one that allows the motto that family runs deeper then blood (thank the boys of brayshaw for that one) ring true. There connection brings The best and the worst out of Tatum making her fit right in too! A bond so deep it is literally death do them apart.

I cannot wait for the next book literally, I need to know what happens! A series worth starting if you haven't and if you have a great addition to the Kings of Quarentine

Starting of this book I became very angry because the guy’s only got worse and worse but not just to her but to the unspeakable’s. I didn’t like how they enjoyed there pain and when Blake downed the teachers old coffee down one of there’s pants my heart broke for that boy a bit.

But when the book continued and the reasons for why they torture those kids gets revealed, you felt a bit of justice being served. But even that didn’t make me feel less bad for some of them sometimes.

In this book it became all about revenge with a loved, she had been and still are going through hell by there hands so it felt right the they got some back.

In this book a stalker was introduced with defending Drew up the suspense but I definitely do not believe it was Toby . That would be to easy.

The book became a bit slow at times with a didn’t like, but the ending saved the book in my opinion.
There was action and heartbreak and so much excitement!
Loved it !

This book is a continuation of Kings of Quarantine where Tatum gets bullied by the Night Keepers Kyan, Saint and Blake because they think her dad is the reason the hades virus is out but now in this book Tatum gets her revenge! I cant stop reading this book!! Ugh! This series is so fkn intense and dark. I really like Tatum cuz she is a badass and took her revenge from the guys so smartly. The guys in this book start to regeret a bit for bullying Tate so much and there is also so much mystery going on. I still hope that she makes them regret more cuz they seem to start feeling bad, especially Blake but not Saint. That dude regrets nothing😶..he is my fav somehow idk why, his character has so much depth and even after 2 books we really dont get to know his character much so he is a mystery...a hot one. In the first book Monroe the teacher didnt blend in with the Night Keepers but in this one we see them bond but i still dont feel like he belongs with them cuz he is so different...and he is a teacher and they are teenage students. The characters developed a lot in this book but each time i get into it..they somehow a fight for toilet paper and its kinda weird...but anyway, i cant stop reading this series and cant wait to know what ll happen next!!

🧻🦑 The story 🦑🧻
After the events of last book, the relationships between each of the characters has shifted. Tatum has to deal with the confusing aftermath, and she has to figure out where she now stands with the Night Keepers.

The amount of bullying lessened in this book, which I was happy about. I was really excited to see Tatum get her revenge, but I must admit I’m a bit disappointed. Every time she did something, she just felt bad about it, and that made it a lot less fun. I still need a lot of revenge, and I don’t think the guys suffered enough at all. It just annoys me how she’s immediately back to lusting after them and doesn’t really punish them at all. There were definitely some good moments in here, where she did go all out without immediately drooling over them afterwards, but I wanted more of those dammit.
“The world wasn’t there for me when I was at my lowest. The world didn’t give a shit when I was cut open and left bleeding. The world didn’t hold me when I shattered and remind me how to be strong when I needed someone to believe in me. But you did. So I don’t give a shit about the world. I don’t want the world. But I do want you.”

It definitely does feel like some of the issues that I had with the guys in the last book were explained in this one; but I still think that the amount of bullying is WAY too much, and still not alright. Besides, she just believed Kyan on his word; maybe it was just another ploy to get you to give up all of your friends?? I just dislike all of the Night shitters (yup calling them that now) so much.

The end was really good again – a lot of action and a great cliffhanger, although it’s probably too much to hope that . Lmao, a girl can dream right? Fuck, I hate that dude.

🧻🦑 The characters 🦑🧻
✉️Tatum✉️
Although I like how strong she sometimes is, I just hate how she’s drooling over these guys. They haven’t done anything droolworthy; they’ve just been assholes and I don’t understand why she’s all in love with them out of nowhere?! Sure, they’re good looking, but they have the personality of a fucking raisin that’s for you Saint, so I don’t understand why she likes them at all. Her changing opinions on them gave me whiplash. I just hate how strong women always turn into a submissive tart in books as soon as a guy touches them – I hate how easy Tatum gave into everything; she made her rules, but then broke them every single chance she got. What’s the fucking point then?? I hated that she had to rotate between the guys’ their beds like some kind of hooker. The way she kept drooling over them is just really frustrating to me. I think I’ve just read too many reverse harems lately; I’m getting a bit sick of all the sex and drooling.

🥊Monroe🥊
Monroe is still my favorite, although there was far too little of him in this book. I don’t like the way he seems to be all in with the guys now, and he seems to forget all about his revenge plans. Dammit, my psycho revenge side isn’t satisfied AT ALL yet. I hated how he’s turning into one of them; I still want Tatum to just end up with him and burn the others to the ground. Ugh. I’m glad we learned a bit more about him, although I think it’s very disrespectful that Tatum immediately went to drool over Saint’s dick after all that Monroe told her. There were some great scenes with Monroe though, especially near the end :’)

🥇Blake🥇
Okay, Blake has risen in my ratings. Although he’s still pretty much a dick, he at least realized that his actions made no freaking sense, and he started to feel sorry. I was glad about that, and I had a lot of moments where I really started to like him. I still don’t think he or any of the other guys suffered enough, but I do like him. He definitely had some great moments in this book, and I still love his relationship with the other guys although I don’t love the guys themselves.
And if I had to give everything to save her from this fate then I’d do it without thought. Because she was the only light to my darkness and she was worth a thousand of my deaths and more.

🖋️Kyan🖋️
Kyan was pretty much just feeling bad for himself in this entire book. I liked him a bit in the last book, and I felt bad for the payback that he got in this one, but then he pretty much acted like a dick throughout the entire book again, and I got sick of him. I feel like his family is interesting though, and I’m excited to learn more about that. But he seriously needs to get over himself.

🎹Saint🎹
Hate this guy. Still fucking do. I might hate him a little less than I did in the last book because of some stuff that was explained, but I still hate him. Dickwad. I’m just not fucking okay with the way he commands her to do stuff, and I hate his entire being. I don’t care if you have OCD; I know a lot of people who do, but this behavior isn’t due to that and isn’t fucking acceptable.

🧻🦑 Overall conclusion 🦑🧻
So yeah, I pretty much still hate all of the guys, and I want Tatum to just end up with Monroe. Some things were explained in this one, there was some good revenge – and some not so good revenge – and I hated the way Tatum kept drooling over all of their shit personalities. I need more revenge, but I don’t think I’m going to get that. Dammit.

"Hi I'm Tatum Rivers and I'm addicted to cruel boys with black hearts." Me too, girl. Me too.

description

I didn't enjoy this as much as the first one, but it was still soooo addicting that I read it in a single day.

Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep is more character led than plot, and (if you've read any of my previous reviews, you will know) I usually tend to dislike character driven books. However, I have fallen in love with these characters and their quirks and, as such, am finding I don't mind it so much in this series. I particularly love Kyan.

description

Having said that, what little plot there was annoyed me at the end of the book...

⚠️ Spoilers below ⚠️

Literally, nothing happened for 95% of the book, which was fine - as I said, I was enjoying the characters - then the last 5% went mad! There was too much happening in contrast to the rest of the book and it felt rushed and messy. It was very 'skimmable' and felt pointless. Do we really believe the authors would let Saint die? This girl doesn't! He's too vital to the plot. I may be back to 'eat my hat,' but we shall see!
