Venys Needs Men

To Seduce a Dragon: Venys Needs Men

Rate this book
My name is Jaya, a dreamer, bola slinger, and one of ten guardians in my tribe. I was content to live out my days keeping watch on the village, hunting, and batting away insects that flew too close to the prissy women chosen to birth the next generation. My life was nothing like theirs. I spent way too much time burying my secret in the dirt, over and over, to make sure of it. Gods no. That wasn't my future...Until the sky lit up and an angry star sent all the Mist tribes into a desperate frenzy for the beasts of legend to bleed new life into our people. It wasn't supposed to turn out this way.I didn't mean to touch him, but what's done is done. Do I have what it takes to seduce a dragon? Don't know, but hold my bola-I'm about to find out.

Ohhhhhh mix some heat with some ice and what do you get??

STEAMMMMMMM

What an absolutely fun, steamy, adventurous, slightly gory, and oh so yummy story.

I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to see each of these authors views of this world, and how no two stories are the same. Be it in different areas of the world, different types of dragons, heroines with different goals/motivations/bravery/etc., and steeeeaaaaaammmm heat to melt some metal y'all.
I had flashbacks to Valos of Sonhadra.....which was trippy....but awesome.

I love how every couple had a struggle. I find relationships that don't come easy SO dayum rewarding, and boy, were these some tough issues these couples had to go through. But Gah, there is nothing more rewarding then watching a couple struggle and grow from it.
Build that relationship up! Make Em WORK for it!

**Side points to this book for having what I equate to a canine companion for our h ❤
Fierce beasty pets are my jam.

Also, another side note, Hi Poppy Rhys.
Where you been girl???
We miss you.
Please write us some more alien smut.
We Love you!

Every Romance With Aliens That Look Like Aliens Reader Ever.

I only hope we get to see more of this amazing world of big, bad potential dragon husbands, and their fierce warrior females hunting them down. (takes husband hunting to a whole new level)

Enchanting!
These Venys dragons. They struggle so much with with the idea of being mated to a human. Banning is no exception, but seriously, why sleep that long life away? I love Jaya with her secrets and struggles to keep the position she has in the tribe. Why shouldn’t she have a say in the matter? Stay strong, Jaya. Watching the two of them work out their early differences is utterly charming! Seduction. “Watch out all wily bescaled males!” The descriptions of happenings as seen from Banning’s point of view are hilarious! Just when a girl thinks she’s being sexy...
This is a delight to read: there are social expectations to be faced, an unanticipated mate to accept (or not), some frightful dangers to be faced - all wrapped up in a highly satisfying ending. Just the way I like it!

Can i have a Banning of my own?

Jayda and Bannings story may have started out with fear and hatred, but it blossomed into something beautiful. How romantic!

Magnificent !!!

This book was magnificent !!!
I like that All of these Dragons are different . Not only in appearance , but also in life , and how they respond to their human mates.

In this book , Jaya is a Guardian of her mostly female tribe . They actually Do have Males, but either to young for her , or too old. Besides , Jaya doesn't only want to be a , " birther" . She wants More .....
Well, as the Red Comet makes its appearance , she soon finds out how much more she can handle .

Banning is an all white Dragon from the North. HE has seen comets come , and go.
Unsuspecting of the events about to transpire , he slumbers, not knowing how his life is about to change.

In this adventure , Jaya and Banning endure one crazy situation after another , and their love and respect for one another grows.
I found this book a great read, and also different from the other 's in this series , as Banning doesn't seem able to change back into a humongous Dragon. It was funny and chaotic and I enjoyed it very much !! As I am reading the series, I am on to the next !!!

N.B. I've read a number of the other books in this ~series. ... but
I ... yeah I can't rate this book.
I skimmed most of it.
I was hoping for a good quick fun read but ...

it just felt rushed in a bad way and a bunch of ... stereotypes? The pretty mean girl, the plain but competent/good at EVERYTHING heroine ...
Enemies to lovers - which is not my thing - the whole "dragon hates the human who turns him but there's the instant mating so then he loves her"

The "elders" making a fuss but the couple is in lurrvee...
But more the made up words.

[And animals?]
It just ... flying fox is cool but with uber colorful feathers just doesn't seem like a good evolutionary thing/good idea/well thought out ...
More for ornamental pets not so much an actual hunter...

And like I said - after he puts her in his nest [ok all the nest building was cute] it was basically skim city.

Jaya isn’t like other girls (yes, she’s one of those). She hates “breeder” girls because they only exist to make babies and cry. Jaya wants to hunt stuff and thinks herself superior for it. Whatever. Banning is a dragon who finds himself captured by Jaya’s trap. Her people want dragons because they cannot make male babies on their own easily and apparently dragons can. But Banning isn’t interested in others — once Jaya touched his scales, she sealed her fate as his.

It was okay but kinda boring and abrupt. The writing just didn’t engage me. First Jaya is scared of Banning and doesn’t want him to touch her, but a day later she tries to seduce him. I don’t feel like that was explained or justified enough. It seemed random. Also Banning starts off hating Jaya for trapping him and being human, but kinda forgets and never mentions it again. The whole thing seemed like a rough draft of a book that was never completed.

Wouldn’t reread or keep on my shelf.

I love that Jaya is a fierce female warrior determined to set the rules for herself. I appreciated everything she went through to get where she was. Hunting down a dragon to bring back for the breeding women of her people. In a world where men are a rare commodity, people every where have resorted to drastic measures to survive. In this corner of the world, their are guardians who protect, women who act as brides, and produce, and a lack of love and commitment.

When the red comet streaks the sky the time for hunting a white dragon and bringing them back to the brides is at hand. One of the handful of guardians dispersed to find a dragon, Jaya finds herself being the one to discover the massive beast. The rule is to keep her hands to herself, but when you're wrangling a dragon, all bets are off. One touch changes both their lives as the dragon becomes a humanoid being , whos intent on claiming her, against his better judgement.

Watching the two scramble to adjust to their new realities is entertaining. I snickered my way through this one, fussing at them both for being so stubborn and blinded. Every time they defended each other , I admit I swooned.

Choosing your own path in a world where the survival of the human tribes is in jeopardy isn't easy, but Jaya has managed it. Accidentally binding herself to a dragon was NOT something she ever expected. Even while she was on the hunt for said dragon, her plan (and the plan of all the other hunters out there) was to capture the beast and bring him back to her tribe.

You know what they say about the best laid plans, right?

Yep. Jaya ends up with a foul-tempered beast of a man who is VERY unhappy about being caught by a human. To say things start out rocky might be an understatement.

To be fair, Banning was dealing with a lot. Like being suddenly human. So, you know, his bad attitude was a little understandable. Also to be fair, he comes around when the time is right. And he definitely rises to the occasion when he and Jaya are threatened. (That's not the only time he rises to the occasion, but that's to be expected, amirite?!?!)

Anywho. Dragons and warrior women and kicking butt when the time is right. Yessssss.

Banning, our dear Dragon Hero. I was very confused at the ending of this book as it seemed he suddenly had a personality transplant. It was jarring. Uncomfortable. We follow his thoughts for a lot of the book early on. And when he "remembers" to speak again, he's suddenly, different. Ending felt rushed.

Besides that, it wasn't bad. It was kinda funny. Sort of interesting.
And while I really liked her companion, Hurk. He seemed kinda pointless. He was mostly often mentioned as an after thought. Only time he was actually part of the story was bringing down the dragon. Was that all he was written for? Poor thing.

The cursing was... odd. While using different words like "kuseking" to create a feel of another world, it was just too similar to fucking that I mentally changed it every time. Which was distracting, and just annoying. Same with another word I think was used in exchange of "shit" it was just odd.

Screwby!

I liked this one! This one was the most odd out of them all. This author used slang like meow and other words you won’t find in these types of books especially when they had their own curse words. Also this relationship was quite different than the others. For one Banning was the strong silent type and wasn’t hell bent on sheathing the sword if ya know what I mean. Also he took some serious abuse. I was kind of getting frustrated with Jaya in this book but luckily she got better. I think this might have been the shortest out of all the other books as well. That or I just breezed through it. Either way this book turned out really good. I kinda wish we see more into their later lives and not just a quick page to rush and tidy things up. I’d love read more about how their lives turned out. Also Hatchie.... really? Lol 😂 I guess that’s all for meow 😉😙

not bad

I’ve enjoyed the other books in this series more than this one, but this wasn’t bad at all. Just kinda flat compared to the others. And I found the heroine to be kinda stupid and her attitude out of place for her society. She lives in a world where her ppl are on the brink of extinction and yet she views life givers, the very people who are keeping the species alive, as if they’re something to mock. It represented a discordant note that made no sense for the setting and reflected more a fucked up modern mindset than one in which the story is taking place.

Other than that stupidity, it was fine. Some scenes of violence from another tribe and threats of cannibalism.

Hero has been celibate for centuries, heroine is a virgin. No ow/om. No abuse or cheating of any kind. HEA with epilogue

Jaya and Banning

Another Dragon hits the dust...Jaya is a Guardian of her tribe. She's dedicated and thank goodness not man crazy. When the red star appears, she and her Guardian sisters are sent out to capture a Dragon. Like the other stories in this series, they need a male to help populate their female tribe. Jayal locates, captures, and accidently touches the Dragon. Banning becomes a man and unlike the other books is okay with that. The two quickly fall into lust and eventually love. Nice story with a little danger thrown in. A 👍for me.

This is a great story that is action packed, has sexy times and two people who grow to love and protect each other. Jaya and the other four guardians are supposed to searching for the dragon beasts for the birthers in her tribe. Once a female touches a dragon then they are bonded for life. Although Jaya accidentally touched the dragon named Banning, she was not sorry after they had time together. She would not be able to give him up to the birthers. They had to fight their way home to the tribe but finally live together happily.

Red star heat

Jaya and Banning are great characters. Enjoyed the journey of their meeting to mate hood. The way the team worked out how they fell in love even with lack of effective communication was well done. Loved ending.
Was a little confused about red (metro? Maybe manufactured shooting device?) that supposedly stirred up dragons. As well as some unanswered questions of time between them? Did the dragons hibernate? Why can’t they shift back? What happened to rest of dragons? And why didn’t they fly to other areas?

Uh her writing style really doesn’t work for me, and there was a lot of modern references and wording, that just didn’t fit the established setting of the story. Like meat grinder, describing someone body as meow, saying knocked up when referring to pregnancy, etc.

It also felt a bit immature, like the whole “birthers” vs the plain Jane who doesn’t want to conform but turns into a saviour of sorts.

Overall plot had potential but this is the weakest of the series.

I don’t intend to pick anything else up by this author, we really just don’t click.

this one was mid

There are good books in this series. Since they are all disconnected, id recommend skipping out on this one. Theres nothing particularly spectacular about it and i found myself wondering how many slats there were in my blinds instead of focussing on the pages i was reading because i was so bored and unengaged.

Take that as you will

I generally like this author, but this one was not for me

I love the direction that Poppy Rhys went with this piece. This story has mythical elements with the use of the dragons. It also has pre-civilization characteristics with cool female warriors. If you're interested in any of those things and want something that is more fast-paced, this one is for you. I definitely enjoy longer stories, but still a great read!

So good

Love it! Jaya was so awesome, a bad-butt warrior with her own mind and a sense of humor, yes please. I don't want to post spoilers so I'll just say I couldn't put it down. If you're into dragons, warriors, awesome fight scenes , love and happily ever after this is definitely for you.

A very fine story.

The characters, plot & villains are all well written and complex. The romance is intense & steamy. This is the second book in this collaborative series. I just think it's not for me. I found them difficult to focus on. I got distracted & it took me longer than necessary to read them. Like I said, I see nothing wrong with them. Just not the books for me.

What a great story

I love collaborations like these. Seeing such incredible authors building an original world for their connection of characters makes for an amazing ride. This book was no exception and fit deliciously into the world, showcasing Poppy Rhys' amazing writing talent. Definitely worth the read.

To seduce an ice dragon

I really got into this story. I enjoyed the concept of an ice dragon. Every time I think about dragons I think of fire. Jaya is a tough woman and wants choices in her life. Banning is a grouchy dragon and he does not like humans. I loved this story and I look forward to reading more of this series.

My Favorite Venys Needs Men Book!

I have a new author to check out! I adore their writing and this is my favorite in the series, so far. Banning and Jaya make the best couple. Just a heads up: there is some violence and gore towards the climax of the story, so if that isn’t your thing you should steer clear.

Couldn’t put it down

I’ve enjoyed every one of this multi-author series and for whatever reason I put off this one for a while. I decided to come back to it on a whim and I read it almost in one sitting! It was so good! Action-packed and funny! Also the steamy scenes were really really good!!

Great read

I loved Banner and felt his straighten dragon to becoming a man to accepting his mating pull for Jaya. I loved the the whole Big capture and fight. And her mean sister's got exactly what they deserved.
