My favorite kind of shifter read

One of my all time favorite shifter series. A shifter should only be able to be wit their mate and that’s exactly what was delivered

-no cheating
-no ow/om drama
-no pushing away
-no violence of a sexual nature
-safe - no others after meeting
-dual virgin
-great epilogue that I hope leads to a story for the kids!

2.5*

This is another sweet little shifter read. I enjoyed this one and I know my rating doesn’t reflect that. But it’s short insta-love romance. There’s no real drama or angst.

I’m stingy with my stars, most books I read get 3* which I think is a fair rating. 5* is reserved for the special books that come along occasionally if you’re lucky.

Basically what I’m trying to say is don’t let my 2* put you off.

“Her Tiger” is the story of Calliope and Tane.

Another sweet Insta- love shifter romance between a passive heroine and a smitten hero. I liked it until the heroine suddenly changed all her career goals due to mating- I’m glad they waited to have children.
The epilogue excited me!

Ahh they were so cute! 😍 That final epilogue though 😂😂

~Calliope hoped she would find her own mate like her two best friends but she hasn’t had any luck. Until Tane returns to Timber Ridge and whisks her away. He lost hope of finding his mate.. now he’ll never let her go.~

Tane is the freaking sweetest. I loved their connection and chemistry so much. I only wish it were 100 pages longer!! 😭

Another entertaining and hot little romance in this shifter series. I was very curious about Calliope, the last of the three friends to find her mate.

A tiger! That's awesome and so exciting.

Tane is also hopeful for his mate and it's insta-happiness when he finds her. Lots of care and support, territorial heat, and a man in love ready to defend his future wife. I loved that he helped her with her creative dreams, and also how he deals with both dangers and family issues. It's bursting with torrid passion and the epilogue is quite funny.

I wouldn’t mind having a tiger pet, or mate, myself :-D

We finally get Calliope story!! And gotta say finally gets herself a shifter mate ;). And it was pretty fun and light hearted. After weeks of being in town she finally giving up her shifter mate isn't in town unlike her best friends and their mates. Until Tane comes back from visiting his family and its love at first site hes making up for lose time. But their is some drama with them her parents messed with someone bad that now is targeting his woman. And you don't wanna mess with a Tiger shifter.

No ow/om drama, no cheating, Slight secondary charas, tiny drama, sexy times, virgin gal no manwhore and doesn't say.

Great story

I loved that this wasn’t just about steam! There’s a fun story here. Don’t get me wrong, I like the steam, but I like it along with a great story. This is my favorite of the three. I sooooo hope Talon and Kyla get a story.

Soul mate

A short read that gives us Calliopes happily ever after. After seeing her two best friends find love with their shifter mates she ms resigned that maybe it’s not going to happen for her.

Tanes arrives back home from New York, glad to be back with his pack. What he didn’t expect was to find his fated mate. But one look and he has in his arms and under him.

A steam factor that’s smoking hot and an epilogue that has you yelling for more.

Good but

Sometimes I think there is too much s€x in the books that take away from the story. I mean they just barely meet and boom they are across the street and do the deed. It would of been nice to have a little story first.

Short and fluffy sweet shifter story. Absolutely zero drama and a HEA when this shifter catches a whiff of his mate.
Also check out the Volume 1 collection which includes books 1-3 because that edition includes lots of extra epilogues that are not available in the single book edition so definitely check it out!!

The couple: Tane and Calliope

Romance genre: shifter
Series: Shifted Love
Length: 75 pages

Plot: Calliope is the third girl of her friend group (from the first two books of the series) and she wants her own shifter. The only problem is that none of the shifters she's been introduced to are her mate. Then Tane (the tiger) came back home and he knew immediately that she was the one for him.

Commentary: Low angst, low drama - some danger from her family that blows back on her, but her tiger is there to take care of her.
I have to say though that I don't particularly care for heroines who want a _____ for a mate/husband. Like when they want an alien or an MC member or a shifter, and they want that first and the actual specific person second.

Previous book in the series: Her Alpha
Next book in the series: Her Mate

DNF at 28%

I know it’s kinda dumb but I felt like the Heroine was fetishizing shifters... like she wanted a *shifter* as a husband—didn’t matter who. So, her “relationship” with her mate felt off because it’s not him that she’s interested in—she’s just happy he’s a shifter. It seemed really ingenuine.

I did like how the Heroine communicated she didn’t want kids right away—it’s just a huge trope in quick novellas like this series that there’s a fated mate which leads to the perfect life which equates to spouse and kids. Obviously, that’s valid for some but not for all people and not for all women.

However, I just couldn’t get into the book so I DNFd it ... so, I don’t actually know how the book played out.

Her Tiger
Shifted Love, Book 3

I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the series.

Media Type: Digital
Source: KindleUnlimited
Dates Read: 8/22/21 - 8/28/21
Stars: 3 Stars

The Characters:

Calliope Taft:
Tane Ruslan:

The Story:

Calliope is the last of our bestie trio. She is thrilled to find a shifter of her own. Tane is a dirty mouthed Gamma of the pack. Some of his dialogue is truly cringeworthy but I guess that’s who he is. Again this is an instalove story. There is also some action in this book which was a nice change.

Enjoyable

There is nothing better than being able to sit down with a good book that's not to long and knowing you can enjoy it within a reasonable time frame.
Loved "Her Tiger" from the first page, and knowing it's part of a series that involves many of the same characters, certainly adds to the enjoyment.
An enjoyable read with enough action and family ties to keep you wanting to find out what's next in this series agenda.
If paranormal romance is a treat for you you definitely should grab a copy of this entertaining book.

Fiona really knows how to include parts into her book that make the entire book redeemable. I was thinking this book was going to be a 2 star, but then I read the last epilogue and had to bump it up to 3! Nonetheless, I am enjoying this serious and recommend it. This is a nice, low-angst, fun read

Apparently whether you are a dog or cat person really does matter😉😁. Calliope is the 3rd bestie of Allegra and Larissa’s trio from the first 2 books. All she wants is her own shifter, but she has met every wolf in the pack and has not been a fated mate. Then Thane, the only Tiger shifter comes back....and again apparently whether you are a dog or cat person really does matter😂. Loved this reference in the book, and in this case it was absolutely true. “I was right! Not finding the guy for you was because you’re a cat person!”

This was a safe read, with a dirty talking sweet af shifter and his more than happy mate. I love that everyone knows what’s in store for mates, and they just go with it, no shenanigans. This book was also so funny, Thane is way over the top and it cracked me up. We get to see our favorites from books 1 and 2, and a little suspense thrown in too. Sweet epilogues and an hea. This series is so adorable, honestly it just puts me in my happy place. I can’t get enough of this cute af shifter series. More please, always want more of these shifters.

This is the third book in the Shifted Love series by Fiona Davenport.

Calliope is the quiet one among her friends and deep down she’s always felt like the odd man out. She’s happy that both her besties have met amazing men who also happen to be wolf shifters. She’s been introduced to almost every single shifter in Timber Ridge in the hopes she’d find a mate like her friends but with no luck. Out of the three of them Calliope is the only one who is serious about getting a degree. She wants to be a Fashion Designer, her dream is to have a show in NYC for fashion week.

Tane Ruslan is Kace’s third in command and he’s also a Tiger shifter who moved to Timber Ridge from NYC. He comes back from visiting his family and discovers his fated mate at his Beta’s house.

When Calliope tells Tane her dream he promises to do everything he can to make it come true. He’s even willing to wait until she gets her fashion show to have a baby even though both his Alpha and Beta’s mates are already pregnant.

The best of the three in the series. Still issues, but enough to round up to 3 stars.

Calliope (h) is a college student who's feeling a bit left behind. Her best friends and roommates have basically run away to Timber Ridge, swept off their feet (literally!) by the shifters who've recognized them as their fated mates (books 1 and 2). Calliope has had no such reaction when meeting any of the other shifters in town. At least until the town's third in command, Tane (H), comes back into town...

This series as a whole is pretty formulaic, standard shifter insta-love with little suspense. They are fast reads with no deeper connection between the leads other than the 'fated mate' sex drive. Also, the names are irritatingly "Romance Novel" names, as a whole - too flowery, too many z's and y's, that sort of thing. Plus there are continuity errors in the series, particularly with character appearance and with their children's names. The books get progressively better, but as a whole, there are better shifter short stories/short series.

While this one was definitely the best in the series, IMHO, it's still not particularly outstanding. There just isn't much meat on the bones. Same fated mates, instant recognition, insta-love with little-to-no complications. You might be in the mood for that - low drama, quick and easy ready, nothing too heavy - and while I don't mind short romances like that, to be more than two stars with that little plot? It's gotta have some humor or likable characters or something. This didn't have much, but it did have a little more than the others, which is why it rounded up to 3. If you're looking for something truly mindless for a bit of 'comfort food' escapism, then this might work for you.

I think my biggest frustration was with the 'meat' that was added to the bones. Yes, it gave the story a little something more than the last two books, but still - the whole thing with Calliope's parents? Just seemed like such a stretch for a plot. And then Calliope getting mad that they didn't call her? Their logic actually made sense - their rival didn't know about her, so calling her would have just tipped him off to her existence. And yet she's mad that they didn't call her, when that would have put her in danger?? I was just really shaky on her logic.

However, I still liked Calliope much more than the other two girls. While she still wasn't big on college, she was at least thinking of her future. And she's right - college wasn't necessary for her chosen field. But she still had dreams and goals and thoughts about her future, and ideas of how to get there. That's way more than the other girls had. Both of the others just seemed to float along with where their mates had steered them. Just own your life choices, whatever they are! That's all I'm asking! Plus, I really liked how Calliope's dreams came full circle.

I definitely liked the "not a dog person" joke.

One little thing. While Tane as a first name is a real thing, I've only ever seen it as a Japanese or Polynesian (especially Maori) name. But Tane here is very tall and blond? Maybe his parents are big rugby fans? There have been a few famous NZ rugby players named Tane. Not that parents can't name their children what strikes their fancy, but why not just have an ethnically diverse cast? We don't exactly see a lot of Polynesian romance novel Hs, after all.

Like I said above, there are continuity errors in the details through the series. As the last book in the series, this was where the details from the previous books got jumbled. Still a bit shaky on whose kids are whose, after books 1 and 2 were such a jumble. But there were bigger details mixed up too, like Allegra (described multiple times as dark-haired in book 1) now is an ash blond. I have more problems with such errors with an author like this because the author is actually two people. It means that you should definitely have two sets of eyes reading over the story before it's released, right? Or even goes to the editor? So someone should have caught these things!

Alternating 1st person POV. No cheating, no love triangles, no OM/OW drama. No romantic drama at all, really. The 'suspense' story arc was kinda shaky, but at least it was an attempt to give this more of a plot than the insta-love that runs through this series. Like the other books, just quick and very light and mindless with a bit of steam. HEA and no cliffhanger. I liked the double epilogue, even though the jumble of kids' names was still a bit confusing. If you aren't going to have much drama to the story, at least having a long-term happy look down the road is a plus, and this one was my favorite set of epilogues in the series.

Would I read more in the series? Well, I read all three. So there's that. But this isn't a series I'd be rereading either.

This one literally had no lead up to them getting together. Tane comes home after being away for a month, visits his alpha (with a bit of a lame explanation as to why there is a tiger shifter in a wolf pack), then sees Zeke and when he walks in there is Calliope and he just takes her to his house and boom, sex. It's literally not even 20 pages into the book and nothing will stop him from fucking her (sorry "claiming" her), not even the conversation she tries to start about not wanting kids right away. He just accepts it because he's too focused on the fucking to actually care about anything else. I mean the reason she didn't want kids right away was a bit lame but it just made me realize what I thought about the first book and this trio being rich girls.. it's just further solidified by her wanting to see her clothes on a fashion runway in New York City (because she has mommy issues)... and of course he's going to make her dream come true because he's her mate and would do anything for her. Forget accomplishing something on her own, she'll just get it handed to her. Let's again not even mention that she's still on her first year of college.. dreams like that take years! Especially in the fashion industry.. Anyway, so that's why she doesn't want kids right away but it's not like she's helping the situation by still having unprotected sex (oh but she's not ovulating because he can smell it on her so it's all ok... and yes that was all sorts of sarcasm).

Anyway back to the whole fashion week dream thing, the other stupid thing is that because some shit goes down with her parents (if you want to call them that) she decides to drop out of college and just work on her design instead. So unrealistic and yes, I know the whole thing is unrealistic but at least the author could have a little bit of normalcy in her book but whatever.

After some boring plot and a lot of sex this book is just... stupid. I can't say I enjoyed it much, though it was something to read to pass the time. All in all though it was just disappointing. Calliope spends a lot of time complaining about her parents but how can she be surprised when they have always put their own lives first? And Tane is just over and above possessive... it was just too much full on characters with one track minds and the repetition in this one is just that much worse because it was like reading about two whiny children the whole time. I honestly felt nothing for this book and that in itself is shame because Tigers are my favorite animal and I was looking forward to a tiger shifter book. I mean he even snaps at his alpha and Kace is just like ok, no problem.

Oh and there is also the tasteless and stupid joke (before them meeting) about how Calliope has always been a cat person so that's probably why she didn't find her mate when they paraded her in front of all the unmated wolf shifters in the pack 🙄.

Between the whole bullshit with her parents and how that ended (we finally got action and it lasted like a paragraph), and then of course her getting her dreams come true with the stupid fashion thing (because isn't it convenient that Tane's sisters know people in the fashion world?), I just ... I have no words really for this book and how I feel about it. I'm giving it a very generous 2.

I enjoyed this third installment of the Timber Ridge shifter series where Calliope finally gets her man--one with an oral fixation, no less. That was funny and also hot! Tane was so happy to find his mate and willing to wait for babies so she could live her dream (her first dream, anyway).
Love at whiplash speed again, and low angst, which I certainly appreciate after wading through a romantic suspense novel that was bogged down in depressing exposition. I was constantly thinking "get to the good stuff already!". No worries with Her Tiger, these ladies write a lot of the good stuff and don't get sidetracked by drawn out conflict. I love the dynamic between the heroes and heroines in Fiona's stories too. 4.5 stars!

Slightly off the subject of this book, but I really hope this duo considers writing some historical novellas soon. I think they could really do something fun with the whole arranged marriage/or kidnapped bride/ or hero wins heroine in a poker game/ or heroine is fleeing nasty father (or brother) type thing. I love those storylines where the heroine goes in scared but finds out the hero is the best thing to ever happen to her.
