This is the second book about Alais of France that I have read from this author and I can honestly say it didnt disappoint.I really enjoy her style of writing on occasion and since I read her first book about Alais I was very interested to know what happened to her. This picks up after her infamous relationships with Henry II,Richard I and Eleanor of Aquitaine and her twenty year stay in a convent.Eager to return home but less than thrilled to discover she is once again made a pawn this time by her own brother and put back onto the marriage market. But will marriage, more lovers and children finally make her the architect of her own destiny? If you enjoy the medieval era and love romance you might want to check out this lovely story.

It drew me in!

A well-drawn telling of Princess Alais' many loves and losses. The author does a nice job creating a sense of living in the 12th century yet kept the story very relatable. There are not a lot of immersive setting descriptions, but I didn't seem to miss them since the story moved along at a quick pace. The first person narration brought me close, allowing me to feel each and every emotion. There are many twists and turns in this novel which is very character driven.

Note: I have the audiobook version, and the narrator, Liz Gentle, did a great job!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review. Being the King's daughter is not for the weak of heart. Traded from one court to another, at the tender age of 9, confined to a convent only to be retrieved to be married off and forgotten in the country. But Alais doesn't crumble under the weight of her life, she pushes forward no matter what gets in her way. With well written characters and great narration, you'll keep listening to this very enjoyable tale until the very end.

It was just okay

I have to admit that I was disappointed in this sequel to the first book that I enjoyed immensely. I found it very boring even though there were plenty of events in her life. Way to much narrative and not enough dialogue just didn't permit me to know the characters.

Historical Romance

Many of the characters were less than Christian. The princess sinned when she knew it was wrong. Some of her actions may have caused her heartache. When she and her husband repented, their life turned around for the better.
