One of the best books i have ever read. Tells it as it is without just bashing the ANC. It acknowledges the good things they have achieved in SA. It acknowledges our extraordinary people and the fact that there really is hope. However, he argues brilliantly that things may get worse before they get better and that we are in for a rough decade. Whilst hope springs eternal, the odds are greatly stacked against us.

Sobering, concerning, and enlightening. And extremely important - if you're South African, I recommend this, even if just the last three chapters.

This book was exceptional. It will arm you with much needed insight into what is required for South Africa to succeed and consequently the variables that will lead to its demise. This book is well written, filled with crucial insights and empirical data that explores the ANC’s years of successful policy and its current departure due to a resurgence of ideologues. I have never felt more prepared and informed about South African politics and how I need to plan going forwards. Dr Frans Cronje is a genius👏🏻

A highly interesting analysis of where South Africa is and potentially will be over the next decade and beyond. As a recently new resident of the country, the book gave great insight into the problems the country is facing, with potential solutions. It is to a great extent a grim and scary reading, as the prospects of the country, especially since COVID-19 are dire indeed.

Quote from the book - The next couple of years will be tough, and the downside risks are great - but the possibility of pulling out of the country's present dive and growling strongly into the end of this decade, and then into the 2030s, is real.

Thank you @Frans Cronje for your dedication to the realities that define the lives of the people of South Africa. Thank you for objective analysis of the facts and data that paints a troubled picture of the rainbow nation.

We're in for a tough time, that's for sure. May ordinary South Africans expose and rise above the oppression of the cabal's selfish ideologies.

A very well written book by a clearly very clever bloke. He explains SA politics succinctly and simply for the outsider and the current potential trajectories for the country. I hope he does a follow up.

South Africa’s neoliberal manifesto (that is unlikely to come to pass)
