Sam is a writer of magically-charged fantasy adventures. His passion for action, magic and intrigue spawned his Arcanoverse; a delightfully deluded universe that blends magic, myth, and the modern world in a melting pot that frequently explodes.
When he isn’t hiding away in his writing cave, his favorite hobbies include cooking, indulging sugary cravings, gaming, and trying to make his children laugh. You can find more of his work at www.samuelcstokes.com.
Another great addition to the series that finds our characters in desperate time facing enemies from all side. I loved the fast pace and nonstop action. It was hard to put down! I enjoyed seeing all the familiar characters together and loved how everything played out. There’s still so many unanswered questions and much more to this world that hasn’t been uncovered yet. I look forward to discovering what happens next.
I got this as a e book from the author in exchange for a honest review. I enjoyed reading it. It had a good story to it. I liked the variety of characters in it. I hope to read more books by this author.
A Kingdom in Chaos #3 by SC Stokes Review When it seems like all is lost remember family!
What is one life worth? Since being crowned King of Valaar, Tristan Listar has known peace, until now. . . A savage assault leaves King’s Court devastated. In the wake of the attack, Tristan finds his wife grievously wounded and discovers that his son, the crown prince, is nowhere to be found. Out of the chaos, an old enemy returns offering a truly macabre proposal. Tristan’s life in exchange for the life of the crown prince. Tristan would give anything to save his son, but placing his Kingdom into the hands of a murderous tyrant is a bitter price to pay. Caught between devotion to his son and a duty to his people, Tristan must take up his sword once more. With his world collapsing and his wife at death’s door, can Tristan save his son and his people?
What did I like? A Kingdom in Chaos is the third installment in S.C. Stokes’ A Kingdom Divided series. It can be read on its own or as part of the series. If you enjoy action packed fantasy adventures, this series is a must for all of you! I fell in love with Tristan in book one with all the sadness in his life, he didn't let him stop him from going on and uniting his kingdom and bringing peace to the lands.
What will you like? Wow, action, intrigue, murder, sadness, undying love and devotion. Family is the most important thing in life and the Prince is the future of the lands for peace to continue. Will he ever see is Brother, mother and father? All these go through his mind as he loses friend after friend. Each of the books can be read a stand alone but to read them as written is so cool. I loved the action and can't wait to see if it will continue.
All three books offer a wonderful story to young adults and young at heart. Tristan has to grow up in a hurry as his father is killed and his kingdom under siege. He does receive help but it comes from a group of people he never considered before. The kingdoms are being torn apart from lack of food and water and a new enemy comes to convert the masses to Mythos away from the Allfather. Magic is afoot and what side will each kingdom choose. But Mythos allegiance comes with a price. The series is hard to put down. There is plenty of action and intrigue. It is fast pace, full of magic and intense battles. S.C. Stokes writing is direct and to the point without a lot of flourish but extremely entertaining. You will find this an very enjoyable Sword and Sorcery adventure.
Fast learner. In this book the author explains things that happened in the first two books as they are mentioned in the story. You don’t feel as lost, if you haven’t read the first two books. The early books do make a more detailed story. This book is better written, you just flow with the story. Also, you get more into the thoughts of some of the main characters, helps you relate to them better. Looking forward to the follow up trilogy to this story.
I think every book in the trilogy is getting better. Can’t wait for the next one! Lots of action as you follow Tristan’s quest to get his kidnapped son back, and destroy the Night Stalkers. Syrion gains more mastery of his powers. Couldn’t put it down. The stage is set for the next trilogy, in the epilogue. I was provided with an Advanced Reader copy; this is my honest review.
My third read from author Samuel Stokes will not be my last! Breakneck pace, intricately & tightly woven story line. A must read for fantasy lovers! It’s been so long since book two in The Chronicles of Meldinar (5 months), that it took me a bit to reacquaint myself with the characters and plotline.
What a wonderful story. I had forgotten all the factions involved but with Samuel s break neck speed storytelling we were soon brought up to speed. Fast paced action, magic and the constant adrenaline rush make the book the perfect compliment to end this first class fantasy adventure trilogy. I was so pleased to share the journey. I hope there are many more to come. A must read.
This was a great ending to the trilogy in that the fast pace just didn't stop. The trilogy being a trilogy is at at end - I wonder though when there will be perhaps a follow up trilogy as there is still scope for the next step is n the story. Like the others in the series this is a hard to put down once you've started book.
I have really enjoyed this series. So much going on and in so many directions. Maybe a little too much, but this was a very engaging story. It seems like there should be more from this story, as not everything was solved. I hope there is. Will look forward to reading it.
What a great ending, all is well in the kingdom! After a hell of allot of fighting and plots ruined, the war is over, or is it? S. C. Stokes has left the series open for even more grand story telling in the future. This is a great series and I recommend it to all fantasy readers.
Really fast paced and well thought out story. You are drawn into the world and shown it’s wonders from the beginning! I look forward to the next instalment!
