I really loved this children's book, which is a comprehensive and educational book that teaches children 5 new English words to learn and practice every day, for 1 year.

The book is laid out superbly, with easy to read instructions and beautiful illustrations showing the English vocabulary in its full glory. Each section is based around a theme, such as toys, food etc. It is a great workbook and I recommend it highly!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

I understand the principle behind this book but I am not sure how well it would work. The book aims to introduce children to new word 5 at a time each day. The problem I have is that learning to say the words is one element of learning, another is then being able to see the item and name it. Then there comes reading and spelling. All in all the book tries to do too much too quickly, for the skills needed are very different. I would be interested in the research behind this and which children it is aimed at. Is it children new to English or children with vocabulary difficulties?
A good idea but not properly thought out.
