I just finished this box set. Loved the animals. Izzie Greene was sooo funny I just loved her It was good to be able to laugh out loud with all the characters in these book. I found that the books in the set allowed me to be able to do other things between stories. This was just a fun way to spend some quiet time
The initial series about Izzy Greene was certainly amusing, however, too many continuity errors, plot holes and mistakes appear.. it's unfortunate that they haven't been properly edited as most would be relatively easy to fix.
As for the remaining novels in the set.. no, they really weren't anywhere near the first series.. they were rather weak, too conveniently resolved and missing good fully formed characters. Izzy isn't fully formed; the descriptive powers of the Selfman's could do with some work, but she's the best thing they've created. Less vagueness, more detail and check your work.. in one book a brooch is found in two different places which makes no sense and at the end of that book Izzy receives a letter about a free cruise and the next book starts with Rushmore being the one who got the letter instead not Izzy.. there are plenty more.. a little bit of a rewrite would easily fix this.. 2.5*
Several were semi series, some were stand alone. All were funny. Once I started I couldn't quit. I'm a cat lover so that's part of it. The only issue I have with any book, ebook or otherwise, are typos. One story is about a man who died, i.e., 'Claude' but in the next sentence 'Claude' is the person talking. Also, there shouldn't be so many characters whose names start with the same letter.
All of these points are just examples of literature/grammatical issues. I still enjoyed them.
Just binge read this 14 book box set. Turned out to be different series. I like the authors writing style and character development throughout each different series. I'll be heading to kindle now to see if I can find more in any of the series. If you like cozy mysteries, cats, baking....you'll find yourself in good company with this series.
You know how to get a person hooked on your books.I didn't want to stop reading them. All of them were so entertaining and I wanted to keep going. Thanks for sharing your stories with me and keep them coming on.You have a wonderful gift for storytelling don't stop .
Really enjoyed the first several books but after, it seemed like the author was writing the same book, with just the victims changed. I think I would have enjoyed the series more if I had spaced out reading them instead of reading the whole series one right after another. I still think the series is worth read, if you are looking for a quick read Just don't make my mistake, space them out.
I enjoyed reading all the mysteries with pets making their contributions to solving them. The characters were well rounded and entertaining. There are so many books to read that it will keep you happy for ages.
I did not finish this, seriously 50 something year olds acting like spoilt prep kids and comparing themselves to hotter female 50 year olds. No Thank you!!! The insecurity in the first two chapters were enough to not want to ever consider further reading.
Magical ride into the quirky minds of Sylvia and Leigh Selfman
These series of cozy mysteries are thoroughly entertaining and keeps you interested to the end. These books are great for the beginner as well as the most experienced reader. Thank you for enriching my life.
