MOST PRINCESSES NEED SAVING. THIS ONE WILL SAVE YOU.
She is a rebel. Lilla is fighting for the refugees's freedom from oppression. The king, her father, lost touch with reality ever since Lilla's mother died. Now everyone else is paying the price.
The arrival of Callum, a powerful Teryn general, complicates Lilla's life. His presence leads to conflicted feelings and friction with Arrov, a handsome pilot and fellow rebel.
Her life is not what she imagined it to be. Not by far. Meddling gods, love interests and sudden magical abilities have no room in Lilla's world, but that has become her new reality. No matter how hard she pushes them away, it's too late. They all seek to control her anyway.
Now the Era War between two ruling archgods forces Lilla to act: accept who she really is magic and all; find true love; fulfill her destiny by defeating the Archgod of Chaos and Destruction before He finds her. The Last Lumenian.
S.G. was born in a faraway land of castles, monarchies and fallen dictatorships. Hollywood movies were largely forbidden under the Soviet oppression during her childhood, but her dad smuggled them in anyway, risking his life so that his children could experience the magic and hope inherent in those stories. She watched rebellions unfold in real time. Journeyed across the Atlantic Ocean for love. She ended up in sunny California, where she lives her dream—writing stories and annoying family members.
As someone who doesn’t pick up as many science-fiction novels as I should, I was thrilled to read The Last Lumenian as it unites the great elements of sci-fi worlds with the detailed and magical setting of fantasy worldbuilding, as well as my favorite romance trope!
My favorite part of the book was definitely the many characters and their relationships. We follow Lilla, who faces the oppression of the refugees her father refuses to care about. As part of a rebellion, she tries to fight for the good and save the people while trying to wear her mask at court. She soon finds out that neither the court nor the rebellion are what they seem to be and takes matters in her own hands.
At her side she finds the pilot who has been her partner during the rebel mission and the sassy General from a different world. An enemy that becomes soon an ally. Knowing me, you know I’m not a fan of love triangles, and I quickly feared this constellation would lead to one. Especially since I was already falling head over heels for the latter. However, I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the moments of banter and tension between the characters.
I loved the fast pace of the story, despite the fact that it took me a while to fully grasp the extent of the detailed and complex worldbuilding. As the story moves forward, we learn more of the worlds and the role the archgods as well as the Last Lumenian are playing and I found myself thrilled to turn the pages to see what will happen next. I definitely recommend this book for lovers of a good sassy romance and epic worldbuilding!
This book was such a fun read! I really struggled this month with picking up any book and actually sitting down to read it, but I never had this problem The Last Lumenian. It was just an overall fun read that was fast paced and entertaining!
So admittedly, Sci-Fi is out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to push myself to read other genres. What really helped me was the glossary in the back. I really wish more writers would include one because it is so hard to keep everything straight in your mind when reading such a diverse group of characters and an intricate setting/plot!
The book is set in a galaxy (far. far away) and it immediately made me think of Guardians of the Galaxy (despite my Star Wars reference) so I knew the story would be full of action. The banter between the characters are fun and fast paced. I especially liked Lilla, the main MC. She's such a powerful and strong female lead with an interesting backstory! Her father is king who just married someone Lilla hated. Her connection to her late mother is her magical abilities.
If you enjoy enemies to friends trope, then this one is definitely for you! I found myself questioning who I liked and who I could and could not trust. Lilla is a rebel who is fighting against many causes, but most importantly the mistreatment, which hits really close to the real world! I think I empathized with Lilla so much because of her need to make the world better for everyone, especially refugees.
Overall, this one was such a fun, easy read! Definitely will get you out of your reading slump.
A book that will bring you to the universe of imagination and adventures. This book is a sci-fi novel based on the life events of Lilla.
This book is life events of Lilla who is the protagonist of the story. She lost her mother when she was a little girl and her father married a much younger than his father whose name was - breathing.
Lilla is a kind-hearted, strong, and adventurous lady. Lilla stood up against wrong and tries to provide justice to the refugees. . Lilla was the daughter of the king but in all this fight Lilla even stood against her father and faced a panic attack. This book will take you on a journey that feels like a roller coaster ride of various emotions. . The book introduces Thriller, adventures, world-building, romance, emotions, friendship, and whatnot. One of my favorite part of this story was the kind of different romance is shown between the characters, from enemies to lovers. . I haven't read sci-fi for a long time, so this was a lot of fun. I have spent the last 24 hours devouring the ending of this book. I have an immediate book hangover and have not yet collected all my thoughts on this book. . The story is very beautifully written. The author has brilliantly portrayed all the incidents and characters. The way all characters are developed is amazing especially the character of Lilla.
The cover of the book is amazing. language is beginners friendly. The writing style is lucid.
The author has given this story life with such amazing writing skills. I must say sci-fi isn't an easy task to write about but when you read this book you'll fall in love with it.
I implore you to read and experience this complex story for yourself.
While I have come across many amazing sci-fi stories in my life, I’m always hesitant to pick one up as my true love belongs to the worlds of fantasy literature. But what if a book combines elements of science fiction with those of fantasy, and adds an amazing enemies-to-lovers romance to it? I’m sold. And that’s what The Last Lumenian just did!
The story kicks off right away, filling the pages with action, and introducing the readers into a world that is filled with politics, rebels, gods, secrets, and magic. In the middle of it, we find Lilla – a sassy, adventurous, strong and determined protagonist who tries to unveil the secrets, and fight for the good. What starts out as a need to rebel against her father, and help oppressed refugees, quickly becomes more complicated when Lilla discovers her magic – and the potential war that is quickly nearing her home world.
While I enjoyed the fast pace of this story, I do have to admit it took me some time to get acquainted with this complex worldbuilding as the Seven Galaxies are not something you can immediately explore and understand. This was where the glossary was very helpful and handy for me to find the orientation I needed in the beginning. (Honestly, glossarys are a thing that should be included everywhere! I loved that S.G. Blaise did it!) As the story progressed, I found myself eager to find out more of the gods, the Lumenians, and the role Lilla must play in order to save her home world. (If you know me, you know I'm a sucker if it comes to anything related to the power of gods and this one just fit perfectly the worldbuilding of the story!)
As much as I enjoyed the lush worldbuilding, and the quick pace of this story, my favorite aspect was … you might have guessed it … the romance! I’m weak if it comes to the hate-to-love trope, and although I thought I was first rooting for the very handsome pilot at Lilla’s side, I couldn’t help myself but falling for the imposing and sassy General. Reading the banter between these two made me grin like an idiot more times than I want to admit. (Though, the little masochist I am, I would have loved to be tortured more if the romance has progressed a little bit slower!)
If you’re looking for a sci-fi book combined with elements of fantasy, a sassy romance, epic magic and gods, and a strong protagonist, I can recommend you to pick up The Last Lumenian, and enjoy the ride!
Rating: 3.5/5 stars
Thanks to the author for providing me with a copy of the book!
For fans of " Aurora Cycle" and "Six of crows duology" , " The last lumenian" is the perfect mix of space adventure and fantasy. I don't read a lot of books in this genre. But I completely adored this book. I read both Aurora Cycle and Six of crows duology last year; this book evoked the same feeling within me as those. It has huge potential to get a huge cult following. So I urge the fans of those books to give this one a try.
The writing style was articulate and magical. The narration was written in first person. The tone of the book was charming and persuasive. The theme of the book was the war between the light and the dark. I loved the fantasy world of this book with us various galaxies and coalitions. The characters were very deep and relatable. The description of the setting was fantastic. The book had a lot of strong female leads which was really refreshing.
There were a lot of cheeky elements in the glossary at the end which legit cracked me up. I would definitely be looking forward to read more from this author. The story revolves around Lilla. She is a Princess in the Coalition that her father heads. Her mother dies when is quite young. Ever since her father married her ex-friend Beathag, he has completely changed. Lilla has her mother's rebellious spirit in her. She wants to save the refugees in her world along with her best friend, the healer.
In comes Callum from Teryn, a place known for eradicating entire races. But he has a soft spot for Lilla. There are prophecies, magic, mages, Goddesses and Evil. Era war is the ultimate war of destruction and Lilla is the only one who can prevent it. Will she succeed in her endeavours? Read to find out!
For a debut novel, Blaise certainly hits hard and fast and makes a lasting impression readers will appreciate. Somehow, the author weaves a very complex plot into one dynamic and powerful read. Although I'm not usually a big fan of first-person POV -- Blaise makes it work. There are incredible characters, and Blaise captures the romantic element perfectly. I loved the sci-fi aspect, but I have to admit, I'm a sucker for a good romance. And this one was great. A fast-paced, thrilling read that will take readers of both genres on a ride that will last long after the last page has been read. Brilliant work. I can't wait to read the next novel by this talented author.
Sci-fi is one of my favorite genres, and I think The Last Lumenian did it justice. It was a fast-paced story, full of mystery and action and with an intricate yet very interesting world-building. This book brought me back to the world of Treasure Planet, the 2002 Disney Film inspired by Treasure Island. While I don’t remember the movie well, I do remember that I loved the sea-adventure vibe mixed with space, which is what we see in The Last Lumenian. It was really fascinating, and the glossary in the book definitely helped me better understand it.
The protagonist, Lilla, is a kind-hearted and strong young woman who’s not afraid to stand up for what is right. Yet, despite her strong will, she has her vulnerabilities, which made her all the more believable. Lilla suffers from panic attacks, which is something one doesn’t see often in fantasy or sci-fi but that makes characters more relatable and interesting to read about.
I may sound like a broken record, but one of my favorite aspects of a book is the romance and this one has two tropes that I love reading about, friends-to-lovers and enemies-to-lovers, and one that I don’t enjoy unless it’s written well, the love triangle. I found that the triangle was handled really well by the author. Both male characters are the types I usually fall in love with while reading, though my heart led me immediately to one of the two options because I sensed the potential. I do wish we’d seen a slightly slower burn between the characters, but the ship was strong.
The ending of the book was satisfying. The issue resolves itself in the span of one book and yet…I feel like I want more set in this world. The Last Lumenian can be read as a standalone, and I greatly appreciate this, but I want to see these characters again. If it happens, I’ll be very excited to see the next chapter.
I received a copy of this book via NetGalley (thank you Lilac Grove Entertainment). All thoughts and opinions are my own.
✅🆗 World-building 🆗 Writing style ❌ Plot ❌ Main character
Unpopular opinion yet again, DNF at 18%...
Keep in mind that I only read 18% of the book, so things might get better later in the story, I'm just really not into it right now and I can't find it in me to continue. I might give it another try the next time I feel like reading sci-fi, but for now, I'm done.
The main character, so far, feels very bland and uni-dimensional. I don't care about her or her "sad" life. She seems to be petulant and spoiled and I still don't understand most of her decisions. We don't have a real idea of her history or her motivations so far, making it even harder to care about what happens to her. The writing style also makes it hard to feel a connection or feel the emotions that are conveyed in the plot. We know the character is sad because it says so, not because we see it or feel it.
The plot also seems to jump all over the place. The ideas are there and they're good, but things happen so quickly. New concepts or revelations are just thrown in there and on the next page everyone has accepted it and there is no more talk about it. The writing and dialogues feel choppy at times, and the flow of the story is affected by it.
To end on a positive note though, the world-building so far is great and very complex. There is a glossary at the end of the book, although it is tough to look at it every page or so when you are reading a Kindle. I liked the ideas, the mix of technology and magic, the sci-fi mixed with a style that reminded me of a high fantasy novel, but the execution of the plot and the main character are really weak and lacking so far sadly.
I’ve just finished reading the book and I’ve loved it! When is the sequel supposed to be released? I cannot wait for it.
The story grows on you with every chapter until it becomes a full universe of characters and twists and turns. There is a lot going on, to keep you entertained and amazed by the imagination of the author. It’s a book that combines science fiction, fantasy, romance, and coming of age. Did I mention it has lots of humor as well? The ending was very satisfying, and it left me with a big smile on my face. The Last Lumenian Is a great, fun, and fast read.
Love, bravery, freedom to pursue your own path in far away galaxies.
I ordered first the kindle version, but after reading it I couldn’t help myself but to get the paperback version too, I just love to have a really good book on my bookshelf. Bravery, freedom, and love make The last Lumenian a story so riveting and incredible smart that took me along for the ride.
Set far, far, away in the ‘Seven Galaxies,’ the story introduces us to Lilla, a brash, headstrong (and, at times, panic-riddled) princess/protagonist that quickly finds herself embroiled in a brewing intergalactic war. Unfortunately, while battling the Archgod of Chaos and Destruction is no walk in the proverbial park, an unforeseen love triangle might just be the hardest challenge of all.
Blaise’s debut novel, ‘The Last Lumenian’ is clearly the work of someone who’s done their homework. The story immediately launches into the action and rarely lets up. Sure, there might be a lot going on here (there are seven galaxies, after all), but the author somehow manages to keep it all straight, all the while never sacrificing the inherent scope of this massive world.
Additionally, Blaise’s choice of a first-person POV more than pays off, creating a tangible sense of urgency from the get-go. Add to that some pretty adventurous world-building, witty dialogue, and a handful of instantly memorable characters (Arrov and Callum a'ruun make for a pair of compelling potential suitors for Lilla), and you have yourself a solid foundation for a strong run of sequels.
While I’d classify ‘The Last Lumenian,’ as textbook sci-fi, Blaise effectively infuses her story with a handful of fantasy elements (mages, magic, and so on), adding another layer of mystique to what might otherwise feel like a ‘stock’ space-opera. As others have noted, the addition of a glossary is also a nice touch, one that I found myself constantly referencing.
S. G. Blaise’s ‘The Last Lumenian’ is a near-perfect introduction for what is (hopefully) sure to be an enduring sci-fi saga. For fans of epic ‘space-operas’ (in the vein of Herbert’s Dune series), this is highly recommended.
The Last Lumenian This is an interesting fantasy adventure set in a world far, far away. It tells the story of a young lady learning to deal with her official duties as a descendant of the sitting King and all the palace intrigue that entails. All the while coming to grips with her unusual, even undiscovered, seemingly magical powers inherited from her Mother. As an immature teenager, she, of course has a need to rebel against her situation, her step mother, environment, and the perceived mistreatment of refugees to her planet. These refugees, coming from other worlds, have no status, but intense needs that she believes her father, the King, is ignoring. These refugees are escaping from a sinister, galaxy wide force that is destroying the other planets in their system. She is surprised when an outside force of soldiers appears on her planet with the sole mission of destroying the evil of the conquerors obliterating the other planets, even if it requires destroying this planet in order to terminate the evil’s advance. The Commander is a strictly martial commander intent on his mission without mercy. Although the Princess and the Commander are at odds initially, they learn to rely on each other despite their differences, and manage to defeat the sinister, shape-shifting evil force to save her kingdom and its planet.
Fishguts and whalecrap, y’all--this was such a good read!! It has been so long since a sci-fi book engrossed me so fully. From the start, the combined spacey-oceanic atmosphere of the setting felt beautiful and totally unique. The main conflicts were established immediately, providing for the nonstop fast-paced action to unfold into a complex high-stakes plot. Blaise chooses to frame the text in short chapters with addictive endings, which is what ultimately convinced me that this book would make the BEST graphic novel! What is more, Blaise creates gorgeous imagery throughout the narrative, especially during scenes that concern elemental magic, allowing for the story to come to life for me.
Complete with pirates, mages, archgods of chaos and dark lords of destruction, The Last Lumenian pretty much has it all! Not to mention a love triangle (who wins Lilla’s heart in the end...friends-to-lovers or enemies-to-lovers? You’ll have to read this one to find out!), a sexy shapeshifter, and quippy dialogue galore! Blaise is especially talented with composing sarcastic, argumentative chemistry between her characters, which also contributed to the addictive quality of the novel!
I think my favorite element of the book, though, was the relatable depiction of anxiety and panic attacks. I’m avoiding spoilers here of course, but I gasped aloud at a certain plot twist that had me flipping all the way back to the beginning chapters to complete the connection Blaise had planned from the first moments. I appreciate so much a sci-fi/fantasy author that can successfully employ foreshadowing that left this English Lit teacher shocked and reeling, which does not often happen!
Final thoughts: that epic ending has rendered me speechless and I NEEEED a Glenna and Nic spinoff/sidestory!
I was pleasantly surprised with this read, Scifi is not a genre I read as much as I would like to (even though my favorite book of all time is scifi), what I really loved about this book is that it was able to keep my attention throughout the whole story, it is a very compelling read.
The addition of the glossary on the back of the book was super helpful with the world building and understanding the elements of the story itself. The Last Lumenian tells the story about a young girl in a fight for justice, forming part of the rebellion to help the refugees in her home planet. She can’t stand the fact that her people are being mistreated and it needs to be stopped. Lilla has been raised by her father, the king and her stepmother who is absolutely horrid with her. Lilla struggles with anxiety which causes her to have moments where she is vulnerable. It’s great to see real world issues incorporated into a fictional world, this shows us that even heroes struggle with mental health. I have been actively seeking out fiction books that portray psychological struggles and I am so glad the Last Lumenian brings awareness to this topic.
The main character showed traits of determination, bravery, and wittiness. I loved the connection she had with her late mother through magic. I was compelled to keep reading with the plot being fast paced. The elements building the world were captivating! Although I am not the biggest fan of what I sensed was insta-love, which made me a bit apprehensive, the rivalries gave it the perfect touch to steer in an enemies to lovers trope! This was a great addition to develop the plot, the dynamic between Lilla and Arrov was great! I love a good banter and angst in books.
I will be looking out for more titles by SG Blaise! If you are into fast pace and some romance in your books, this is definitely for you!
Thank you for the author for gifting me a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Sci-Fi is a genre that I don't read much. The space aspect is one that I am always apprehensive about but I was pleasantly surprised with The Last Lumenian. This follows the story of a girl named Lilla fighting the battle of oppression of refugees. Lilla is an advocate for justice and with this starts a rebellion for a better world. The elements in the book made this read like a sci-fi-fantasy novel, which made me want to learn even more. I struggled a bit in the beginning with the terminology but the glossary was so helpful! I wish all authors would do that!
One of the aspects I loved about Lilla's character was that she suffered from a mental illness, these days its crucial to have inclusivity. I'm so happy this book focused a lot on the anxiety and how she overcame them even thru the adversities thrown her way. Lilla's brave stance was admirable, such a great example for young readers. The romance aspect was pretty great, I am a fan of tension love, this is exactly was was going on between Arrov and Lilla. I was a little bit hesitant about the instalove since it's one of my least favorite tropes but in this case it was well written!
The details in the story were gripping, I enjoyed the diversity of the characters and the intricate world building! We had a whole assortment of them but they fit well into the story. The pace and the banter kept me going! I am all about the sarcasm, the dynamic between the characters flowed perfectly with this element!
Thank you so much to the author for sending this my way! Can't wait to read more!
FAB - BOOK REVIEW OF ''The Last Lumenian" by S.G. Blaise
Genre - Fiction (Sci-fi Fantasy)
Rating - 4.8/5
QOTD: Any recent fantasy read of yours that made you awestruck?
I am getting into the world of fantasy, and then this book came up. I got to know that it took the author to write this book for 6 years, yes 6 years someone might have given up in between, but here the author didn't, and that's the reason for the success of this book, I think. This is a book that has lived up to all my expectations. And after a very long time, I have read a book which has lived up to my expectations. This book is just that one book you can sit and read in this winter, sipping a coffee and enjoying the book. This book's protagonist is a compelling female protagonist that will just take you to the heights to live in the fictional world. Lilla is doing everything against her father's insights, and she's just following her heart. At this time, she is facing a lot of challenges, so how will she confront them? That is the question, and I really don't want to open up anything or even give you a single spoiler, so please understand my concern and just read the book. I mean, just do it. Easy language works for beginners. OH god, pick this book up. You, you the one who is reading, I am saying to you, Just pick this book up.

I always enjoy a good sci-fi fantasy novel, but what really interested me with this novel was the additional romance element to it. The balance of genres was refreshing and kept me turning the pages very quickly! I really enjoyed following Lilla's story and felt the author created her to be a very strong and likeable character, which helped move the story along and engage me further as a reader. Bonus points for having a female protagonist as well! Definitely recommend to young adult readers who enjoy an adventurous plot line set in a world they can escape reality to.
I'm always hesitant when it comes to intergalactic stories: they're either a hit or miss for me. This one definitely falls into the former category! I was transported to a completely different world from page one, and was wholly immersed. Political intrigue, battles, and romance alternate throughout the story, and you get enough of everything. Can highly recommend!
Gifts come in many different forms and those with hidden talents are overlooked and devalued. More often than not quiet people are forgotten about and are ill-considered in all walks of existence. Lilla's father never saw what she could become. Power is important, though sometimes having none teaches one a greater lesson: nothing is worth having unless it has been earned. As such Lilla will earn herself.
Lilla is a 19 year old rebel daughter of Ma'ha Niall aka King Niall, the king of Uhna. Her mother, Eilish, a Lumenian, died when she was 5 years old and her father marries a much younger woman. And then starts her struggle and the story. She grows up feeling rejected. Lilla finds solace only in her best friend Glenna, a servant, and Arrov, a handsome pilot and fellow rebel. I already liked her for her quiet good sense and determination. As she begins forging her own path, she clinches my sympathy and desire for her to succeed. It's here that we begin to see that there is more to her than we have suspected. She was going to be her own woman. And this is a book about her finding the most ultimate form of freedom. Knowing that she will become the symbol of her people’s strength and universally loved only intensifies my feelings for her as she fulfil her destiny by defeating the Archgod of Chaos and Destruction.
Lilla is a compelling, multi-faceted heroine and her version of the hero’s journey was very refreshing. This is no farmchild’s rags-to-riches tale - Lilla is already a princess, and also sort of a social outcast and rebel. In some ways this is a tale about finding your way in the face of prescribed roles and your past unfairly restricting your options, and showing that you belong. The book expands some universal and social ideas: the road of an outcast hero, searching for love in a loveless life, feminist actions, vengeance and forgiveness. So many more.
The two male leads in the book, Prince Arrov and General Callum a'ruun, are amazing. Arrov is 26-yr-old stunningly handsome pilot, from the planet A'ice where winter rules most of the time. General Callum a'ruun is a 25-yr-old Teryn general, handsome-in-a-rough way who projects an air of authority.
The Last Lumenian offers a huge story, a story that spans Seven Galaxies and includes many heroes and gods. And despite the huge number of characters here, none of it felt forced: it all slotted perfectly into Lilla's life. So much happens in this fairly short book. Battles fought, heroes are pulled through time, and kingdoms rise and fall.
S G Blaise writes with deliberate, sonorous prose, capable of rising to intense emotional peaks, yet with simple language that is just delicious to read. There are quiet, beautifully written portions, and there are also pieces of intense action where things get heated and the story comes to a crux. There’s a battle in the middle of the book, and it’s magnificently written and emotional - the words just roar. The Last Lumenian by S G Blaise is a lovely and thoughtful fantasy story, with magic, danger and adventure, plus a little dash of romance.
The Last Lumenian is a fast-paced sci-fi fantasy book. Lilla is a rebel fighting for refugee rights. Her father, the king, is against everything she fights for. Lilla's life is full of responsibilities she doesn't care for, love interests, and political agendas. Now it looks like a new Era War is on the verge of starting, and Lilla is a key player. She must accept her true self and fulfill her destiny.
Lilla, our protagonist, is independent, strong, and resourceful. On the other hand, she's a little awkward, naive, and burdened with panic attacks. I really liked reading from Lilla's perspective. She doesn't know all the answers, but she's determined to do what is right. She struggles to fit in with her family and always seems to be the odd one out. She's different, which makes her character stand out.
The plot is rushed in places. The story concept is fascinating, but I thought there was too much happening in such a short time. This book could have been two or three books instead of one. With extended writing, this could have easily made a great series. Regardless, The Last Lumenian is full of action and romance that holds its own in this genre. The Last Lumenian is a book that is easily devoured. The pages turn, and before you know it, you've finished the book! The story is addictive with the right balance between sci-fi and fantasy. I recommend it to both young and older readers.
The Last Lumenian is a fantasy novel written by the author S.G. Blaise. We often read stories in which a princess needs to be saved but this story is unique. In this, princess is the one who saves others.
Lilla is a princess of planet Uhna. Her father, the king has imprisoned refugees in the camp. Lilla is a rebel. When she was five years old, she lost her mother. She misses her a lot. Her servant Glenna is her best friend. Arrov is an ideal image of his home planet A’ice. He is the only person in the rebellion who doesn’t judge Lilla. This book has much more in store for the readers. Lilla has to stop the corruption and defeat the ArchGod of Chaos and Destruction.
This is a great fantasy story. World building is interesting. Written in a simple language, fantasy readers gonna enjoy each and every page of this novel. Cover photo is quite eye catchy. Lilla is a strong female protagonist. Even though there are many characters in the story but author has executed everything so well.
This lovely story kept me on my toes all the way through. My only option was to read it in one sitting and I enjoyed it from the very first sentence.
I absolutely adore the author's writing style - it had me under a spell. The whole story was a sequence of twists and turns, plenty of magic, love, mystery and adventure. Honestly, I couldn't think of a better combination and this book was by far one of the best ones of its genre I've read lately.
The Last Lumenian is a sci-fi fantasy adventure by S.G. Blaise. The story revolves around Princess Lilla who joins a rebellion to save the refugees. Little did she know, she was meant for a bigger purpose. She is the last Lumenian and her duty is to fight against the Archgod of Chaos and Destruction in the Era War that is fast approaching. She is to fight on the side of The Lady, the mother of all Lumenians. However, with her lack of control when it comes to magic, her ongoing battle with her stepmother, and her emotional distress towards two men who are both so dear to her, will she be able to focus and fulfill her duty as the last Lumenian?
Review
There are many things I love about this book! Lilla is such an adorable princess who’s a little naughty, indecisive, not-the-typical-type-of-princess who’s resolute, graceful, and obedient; she’s completely the opposite and that’s what made it entertaining and funny. There are so many charming characters in the story, but I will never forget Teague who always seems to interrupt Callum and Lilla’s romantic moments. I always find myself grinning whenever that happens. Also, there are twists in the story that I was not expecting. I was amazed by the first twist, completely disgusted at the second one, and felt betrayed by the third one.
I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. This is officially my favorite fantasy adventure this year! It has great world-building, full of entertainment, has very charming and funny characters, amusing dialogues, and a well-written narrative! I highly recommend this to ALL sci-fi and fantasy enthusiasts. This is a definite MUST-READ!
I would highly suggest this book to anyone looking for an amazing story filled with unpredictable twist and turns. Normally I do not enjoy fantasy but this story truly changed that, each page leaving me wanting more. With all the literary imagery and scene description I could see it being made into a award winning tv series.
I like reading fantasy stories and I really enjoyed reading this book. We are thrown into the middle of the action right from the beginning. There is mystery around Callum and I wasn’t sure who Lilla would pick. There was a lot going on but I had no trouble following along the plot lines. What a fantasy world this author created! I want more! And I want to see this as a movie.
There are so many YA Fantasy stories out there to choose from, but if you're looking for a read that is immersive, has such exceptional world-building and intricately detailed characters there's a glossary to keep track of everything, then you absolutely must dive into Last Lumenian.
To say I enjoyed this read would be a sad misrepresentation. The unique, colorful landscape into which the author deftly weaves her tale was exquisitely described. So much so, I felt surrounded by each scene as I read it. Who needs VR! While there were many characters to meet and histories to learn, the flow of the story never felt bogged down. The pacing was precisely what it needed to be in order to draw you in AND keep you turning pages.
Lilla is a teenager and she's just what she should be: adventurous, rebellious, curious, uncertain. Particularly when abilities she didn't realize she had begin to complicate her life. Magic has no place in her steady role as the ruling King's daughter. She has responsibilities and requirements to fulfill, but those roles lead her into murky waters where she discovers oppression on a galactic scale.
And, like any great coming of age tale, just when she thinks she's beginning to understand things, along comes a powerful general whose focus on his mission could lead to the destruction of her entire world! Emotions and wills collide. The status quo turns upside down, and whether she's ready or not, Lilla is thrust into a quest that will either devour her entirely or change her absolutely.
I really enjoyed this story. Pro-tip - check out the glossary first to get you familiar with the characters before you dive right into the book. There are a lot of characters and places to get to know. It was great to escape into another world for a bit. The descriptions the author uses are excellent - it makes me want to see this made into a movie/TV Series. The book moves at a quick pace and I stayed up far too late reading a couple of nights - just one more chapter - definitely worth being tired the next morning!
Actual rating 3.5/5 stars. This is the first instalment in The Last Lumenian series.
Lilla's father might sit upon the throne but she resides firmly inside the rebellion. Occupying a space in both sides of the political war ravaging her kingdom is taking its toll, physically, mentally, and emotionally, but all she has so far experienced pales in comparison to the ordeals she is soon to be tested with. The gods are descending and the Era War has arrived.
I really enjoyed this fast-paced read and tore through both it and its sequel in one very lazy day of reading. There were continual new discoveries to be made about the culture, geography, and politics of the land, which when paired with the fast plot progression, made for an engaging read throughout.
I preferred the sections that focused on these aspects more than those that featured Lilla's blossoming romantic relationships but this is a common preference of mine, in fantasy and sci-fi novels, and I expected it to be thus.
The conclusion had some major reveals that I did guess at, but this did not ruin my overall enjoyment and I closed this book feeling very pleasantly surprised by it. It was thoroughly engaging and politically heavy but the dialogue-heavy scenes and focus on interpersonal relationships that also featured ensured this never felt like too dense of a read. In short, it was the perfect, light fantasy, escapist novel and its sequel proved to be exactly the same.
This was fast paced and there is action that kept my interest till the end.It has a great set up and I was intrigued by the world the author creates. The story is about Princess Lilla who joins a rebellion to save the refugees, it sounds fun right? I don't read often sci-fi but this one was so good!Lilla is a strong heroine that I could easily relate to her. There are so many characters to fall in love. The banter between the characters is amazing. Also it has my favourite trope enemies to lovers and I enjoyed it!The Last Lumenian is a page turner read with action and a romance to make you swoon!
The Last Lumenian is a coming of age story of Lilla, a princess and a rebel-in-disguise, who must deal with meddling gods and sudden magical abilities that she must learn to control in order to defeat the dark god before He finds her—the Last Lumenian. It has Gods, politics, Banter, sass and some serious enemies to lovers trope. It's a story about saving oneself, fighting for what's right, risking everything for your loved ones and taking some difficult decisions even if it meant end of your world. . 🌟🌟🌟🌟 [4/5] . First, I absolutely loved the setting of the story and the way it was written and how the characters were portrayed. Lilla was determined, headstrong and fought for what she thought was the right thing. I love a good enemies to lovers story, and when you throw in gods, politics, rebels, magic, good ole' banter and sassy main characters, it takes it up a notch. The first half of the book was pretty slow paced with the world building, the setting and the introductions along with some action as well, but it definitely picked up pace after that. I was sitting at the edge of my seat during those last 100 pages! . Second, The world building was wonderful and detailed.(Although it takes time to get comfortable with the world and the concept, it was totally worth it ). This book managed to catch me off-guard with it's characters and their personality traits. I especially loved the relationship development between Lilla and the General! Their banter was to die for and I was laughing so hard even before they started talking. The author did something interesting with the magic system and the war. I really liked how Lilla was strong yet flawed, and she had so much at stake! The emotions I experienced reading this was so erratic, it was definitely a roller coaster ride. . Now coming to the storyline and the character development, I think I definitely love the General a tad bit more than Lilla. I don't know why but the whole broody vibes from him was my favourite. The concept of the war and The Lumenians were discussed, but I would have loved to know more about the war, the history of the magic and Lilla being in the middle of it. The dual characters she portrays as the princess and the rebel felt good, but I think I expected more from the plot line wrt her character utilization. I really liked the writing style and the pacing was good. Although, the Fantasy SciFi aspect of it might not be for everyone, it combines them both really well and the end result js pretty amazing! . And how can I say no to Gods at war and worlds at stake? . Overall, it had an amazing combination of Fantastical elements along with the concept of Lumenians, the war settings, the political aspects , good writing style, sassy yet flawed characters and some magic. Definitely give this a go if you are a fan of any of these things!! . Thank you MTMC Tours and the author for the gifted Review copy, which let's me give you my unbiased opinion! .
