Fool Me Once #2

Shame on Me

Rate this book
Ex-model Paige McCarty is fed up with being just a pretty face. After her ex-husband’s gambling problem left her royally screwed and tragically shoeless, she started Fool Me Once Investigations with her best friends, Lorlei and Kennedy, to prevent other women from being similarly played and dismayed.

The job: act as bait for a cheating husband. The target: Matt Russo. The case should be as easy as getting a man’s attention—and Paige has never had trouble with that. The problem is Matt—in all his nerdy-hot glory—turns out to be not such a scumbag after all.

And when the case hits closer to home than Paige could ever have imagined—landing her in a face-off with the mob—she wonders if taking the job just to prove that she has a brain maybe wasn’t her best idea.

This second outing for the Fool Me Once team follows in the same fun, feisty footsteps as bestselling author Tara Sivec’s Shame on You.

Shame on me was a cute and funny read. I love that Matt was a sexy nerd and that Paige was a smart model not just an airhead. I thought Matt and Paige made a cute couple. I loved both Paige's mom and Matt's dad. This quick little read made me laugh a lot. I did think the end and all the stuff with the bad guy was wrapped up too easy. Overall this was a fun, silly, and entertaining read!

When I first read Tara Sivec’s Shame on You, I thought it was short, sweet and funny. But to be honest, I wasn’t in a hurry to read the second book when it came out. Now I’m kicking myself because I really liked this one. Even more than the first, and I wish I would have read it sooner!

Shame on Me is the second installment of Tara Sivec’s Fool Me Once series. This series follows three friends who have been wronged by the men in their life and they decide to help other women by opening a private investigation firm. Paige is one of the three. She is a famous model who’s ex took all her money due do a gambling addiction. In the company, she mainly works as ‘the bait’. Want to catch a cheater cheating? Send Paige in, she’s your girl. She wants to be taken more seriously, but for now thats her job.

Matthew is her newest job. When she sees him, she's immediately taken back. Gorgeous blue eyes rimmed with black glasses, dark hair and a killer smile. Just her type. Too bad she's there to catch him cheating. The only thing is?? Matthew isn’t that guy. When Paige realizes what Matthew’s soon to be ex-wife is up to, she’s on a mission to help him. Even if it is against company policy. But things are more serious than they imagined. Ties to the mob, mommas with guns, robbery at the church, it’s all tied together in this hilarious tale. Along with two people falling in love….

This was a laugh out loud funny book with a little ditzy, yet kick ass heroine and a lovable and sexy hero. I just want add that I listened to this on Audible and the narrator was fantastic. Her voice was just the way I would think Paige would sound, and the audiobook kept me fully engaged.

Shame on Me was a great romantic comedy. If you’re looking for a shorted read with lots of laughs and lots of love, I would recommend picking this one up! And I especially recommend the audio version for those of you who like to listen to your books xoxo

Book 1: Shame on You_Main characters: Kennedy O’Brien & Griffin Crawford
Book 2: Shame on Me_Main characters: Paige McCarty &Matt Russo
Book 3: Shame on Him_Main characters: Lorelei Warner & Dallas Osborne

Paige is an ex-top model and currently a private investigator. Her ex-husband was only a cause of misery. He has taken advange of her and has spent all her hard-earned money on gambling.

So, together with her two best friends Kennedy and Lorelei, they have started a new investigation office called me “Fool Me Once”.
Paige’s job as a PI usually involves her being bait. She just sits at the bar being pretty until a cheating husband hits on her.

During one of these cases, Paige meets Mat, a really handsome, kind guy who supposedly cheats. Paige realizes that his wife is just a lying bitch who already has a new boyfriend and she is after Mat’s very successful company. And Paige is really very attracted to Mat.
The book is super-funny. Paige’s mother and her friends as well as Mat’s father are stealing the show.

Lot’s of misunderstandings, exaggerating situations, three Golden Girls on the loose, a mafia boss, an utterly brainless ex-husband, a priest who behaves strangely.
And Paige is trying to prove that she is not just pretty, she is also intelligent.

Anyway, three stars for the story and one extra star for Mat because I adore guys with glasses who are well-built and smell nice ;)

Fun, quick listen on audiobook. This had the silly humor I enjoy and had me laughing out loud in quite a few places. Great side characters that added to the fun. Narrator did a really good job. She has a great voice and was easy to listen too.

Heroine is a an ex-super model who wanted out of the business and decided to join forces with her two best friends starting a business called Fool Me Once Investigations. Paige was supposed to follow the clients husband and catch him cheating. When she hits on said husband and he rejects her, she begins to realize there is more to the story than the wife is saying.

I liked it. It was fun and another quick read. The first book was a bit more funny to me which is why I rated that book a bit higher.

Sometimes you have to kiss a few frogs in life. Sometimes you have to marry a frog and then learn how to be strong again after that frog turns into an ass. But eventually, Prince Charming will finally show his face and make all those damn frogs before him worth it.

Shame on Me is Ex-model paige McCarty’s story, and while she thinks she wants nothing to do with men ever again she meets Matt Russo. As soon as he became her next target, she hated him on principal but nothing could have prepared her for the sweetness of Matt. He’s everything she never knew existed and wants him all to herself. Shame on her to think he was just like the rest of them...

Another cute addition, Matt isn’t as in your face, but his methods of repairing her consulted thoughts on men are downright endearing. Cute and fiesta and a little over the top, this little model proves she has got what it takes to save her heart and keep herself alive.

I enjoyed this book much better than the first book of this series...

description

Perfect book to read after a heavy story. Tara Sivec turns down the over the top scenes a notch and delivered an easy, light, well paced, enjoyable story for model Paige McCarty.

"This is all I ever wanted - to be taken seriously by my friends and family."

Genre: Romantic Comedy

In an attempt to clear our my TBR (and for my 2018 reading challenge) I wanted to read a fun and lighthearted book that would make me laugh. Well, Tara Sivec did just that! I loved reading Shame on Me. I may even have liked it more than the previous book in the series because it make me LOL so many times. Tara has this trademark humor that gets me every time so I always LOVE reading her books.

Shame on Me is the second book in the Fool Me Once series. This book CAN stand completely on it's own as it features a new lead and romance. Characters from previous books only play small parts so you won't feel like you are missing anything if you read it out of order.

This book would be PERFECT for you if:
➜ You enjoy ANY of Tara's previous novels (especially her romantic comedies)
➜ Like kickass heroines
➜ You enjoy books where one or more of the characters are private investigators
➜ Like shorter, lighthearted reads that are easy to start and finish in one day
➜ Like to LOL out loud

After reading Shame on You and meeting Kennedy, Paige and Lorelei, I knew that I had to continue on and read the next book in this series. The three ladies of Fool Me Once Investigations have me wanting to see what they get up to next.

Paige is a famous model. She left her ex after finding out that he spent all of their money gambling. She stopped modeling and is now working with her best friends at Fool Me Once Investigations. Her current job has her trying to catch a cheating husband, Matt.

All she has to do is get Matt to fall for her. It's not hard for her either because he's gorgeous too. The more she talks to him things become clearer that he's not cheating on his wife. His wife is actually the one who is trying to take him for all of his money and trying to set him up. Quickly, Paige decides to switch sides and help Matt instead. There's also something starting between them that she would like to explore. But it's not that easy. They already have a contract with Matt's wife and then her ex spills the beans about where she works. Can she help Matt and possibly win his heart in the process?

Again, this was on the shorter side in number of pages, but I enjoyed all of it. Tara Sivec had me laughing and swooning over Matt. Matt's father and Paige's mother also provided their own comedic relief and Paige's mother's "Golden Girl" friends. Another entertaining read that has me looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

She is too materialistic for me, but I like her. And the fact that she is super model and not a lot people know makes the whole book a little bit more fake, but whatever, the relationship between her and Matt was kind of cute, so I'll give her that. And the fact that old ladies came up and save the day??!!! That did it.

5 shame on me stars!

Tara Sivec is one of those writers who can write anything. I think it's because of her personality, her personality comes out in her writing and if you've ever met her you know what I'm talking about.

I am blown away by each new book she writes, each one gets better and better for me. I loved everything about this book, the characters were fun and witty, and Matt was swoon-worthy. I can't wait to read the next one in this series, because I have a feeling it will be another great one! I'm a sucker for the love/hate relationships!

Matt is sweet

This was a really good read, but I don't think I liked it as much as the first book. In this book the hero is Matt and although very sexy he is somewhat of a nerd and has a sweet character. I do love the secondary characters of Paige's mom and Matt's dad. They were hilarious!

The one thing I wish was clarified was what Matt's company name and what it does. There was no mention of that in the book. It would've been nice if that was mentioned.

I am never disappointed when it comes to Tara Sivec. She makes me laugh until it hurts. She has me grabbing my stomach because the cramps from my laughter are to much to handle.

I loved this story. I loved the characters and the writing.

The best part of this series is the parents. She writes amazing side characters. They bring the story full circle.

Tara Sivec's book are entertaining as usual

But I can't help but notice the similarity of the Fool me once series with her recent series The Naughty Princess Club. Both of these series is about 3 women who are fed up of their lives being fucked up by men and they started their own business

Paige is one third of the gals at Fool Me Once. She took her anger over being burned by her lying ex to push herself forward. She’s the pretty face of the team, the one that lures the cheating men they’ve been hired to out, but she wants to be seen as more than just that.

When her target Matt stirs up some feelings she can’t help but want to push this case further. There is something about the story the wife gives that doesn’t add up. Once Paige realizes that Matt is the victim she wants to do whatever she can to help him, even if that means that she is drawn into far more danger and breaking all the rules of the game.

Matt is in the midst of a messy break up. His wife is attempting to get her claws into his family’s company and he knows if he can just catch her in the act, he can use that information to get her to back off. Paige was unexpected. But it doesn’t take him long to realize that her intentions were good. He only needed to get proof of his wives bad deeds, but ends up getting so much more.

Tara Sivec is the queen smut humor, no other author can make you get a bit excited and laugh to the point of snorting like she can. Paige’s character was given so much more depth as we learn there is far more to her than killer shoes and pretty face. I have a feeling that Paige’s story might stay my favorite throughout this 3 part serial. The dynamics of Matt & Paige were just too damn perfect.

Another short and sweet in this series. I could only think of one part that summed up the feels of this book.

“Mr. Russo narrows his eyes at me. “It’s a good thing I came in here. I see a lot of charlatans in this room who could lead you astray. Like that woman over there with the blue hair and pink skirt.”
I turn around and see that he’s staring right at the photographer for this shoot.
“Actually, that’s a man. His name is Simon Viper, and he’s one of the best photographers in the world,” I tell him.
Mr. Russo’s eyes go wide. “This world is going to hell in a handbasket. Matt, get me some ginger ale. I’m feeling parched.”
Matt sighs and gives me an apologetic look as the photographer’s assistant signals to me that it’s time to start the shoot. I kiss Matt on the cheek and hear Mr. Russo mumble as I walk away.
“If she takes her clothes off, you better cover your eyes, Matthew.”

LOL!!!!!!

You can never go wrong with any Tara Sivec books. As expected this book did not disappoint. I stayed up late to finish it and pissed my husband off a couple of times because I woke him up from my laughing. I love that these books are different from the "I am in college, met the man of my dreams who saved me and I am a virgin" book that every other author is creating now. If you want something different, something creative, something funny then this the series you are looking for.

I think I enjoyed this even more than the first book, Shame on You. I love it when books prove that women aren't just a pretty face. We can also kick some serious ass. I can't wait for the third (and I think final?) book in the series. I also can't wait to Skype with Tara today.

Shame on Me is the second novel in the Fool Me Once series and this time it follows Paige McCarthy - A retired model turned private investigator. Her primary job is to catch cheating husbands in the act, so she can stick it to them. Until Matt Russo. He is just her type and as it turns out, not such a scumbag after all.

I enjoyed the back and forth banter between Paige and Matt, Lorelei and Dallas and even between Margaret and Eric. Just like the first in the series, this is a laugh out loud, but sexy novel.

Paige's ex-husband, Andy, reminded me very much of one of my exes with his whining, worthless-ness, and always running to Paige to bail him out of his messes even though they aren't together anymore! It had me grinding my teeth whenever his was in the scenes.

Which brings me to the end of the story. I'm not going to mention anything in particular, however it was extremely far-fetched and un- believable how things played it. I know it's just a story and it doesn't need to always be believable, but I just had a hard time keeping the 4 star rating I was planning to give this short, light-hearted read.

Rated 3.5/5 (rounded up to 4).
