Second Wives Club

Rate this book
Lyric Delaney, Kerri Rhodes, and Paige Thompson are all chasing happiness and trying their best to balance life. At first glance their lives seem flawless; beautiful homes, perfect marriages. But behind those blissful facades, the reality of balancing happiness, blended families, and their husband’s exes could turn even the most enviable unions into matrimonial disasters. Kerri is practically best friends with her husband Chris’ ex-wife—until tragedy strikes. Paige and Rick are close to having a life most couples would envy if he could just put his meddling ex-wife in her rightful place. Lyric can hardly believe she even landed a husband, especially one like Nate—influential, powerful and filthy rich! However, the happy home she imagined seems almost impossible to attain. Second Wives Club is a journey through the hills and valleys of exes, blended families, self-fulfillment, and challenges that can turn an “I do” into “What did I do?” Will Kerri, Lyric, and Paige find happiness despite the secrets they still harbor? Will any of these couples succeed in pinning down that elusive ‘happily ever after’?

Second Wives

Well the title speaks for itself. Renee doesn't have a short supply of drama because every couple got some drama going on.

Second Wives Club had too many characters and there was plenty of drama concerning the blended families.
The Second Wives Club main characters are Paige (Rick), Lyric (Nate) and Kerri (Chris) as well as the men's ex-wives (Maya, Vivian and Camilla) who created lots of drama.  I respected the relationship that Kerri and Camilla (Chris' ex-wife) had until Camilla tried to seduce Chris although her actions were due to her grief and drinking.  I did not like the way Rick's ex-wife, Maya, showed up unannounced at Paige and Rick's home as well as at other family gatherings.  I truly believed that Rick could have stopped this type of behavior before it got out of hand.  Although Lyric was the side-chick that became the wife, I felt as though Nate's ex-wife, Vivian, disliked her because she was young and vivacious.

I couldn’t imagine being in the predicament some of these ladies were in because personally, I don’t have that much patience and my temperament not set up for blatant disrespect. Lol! There was one ex-wife I wanted to slap a few times. She was a mess! I loved the friendship the women formed to help each other get through certain difficult times. And there were a few surprises I didn’t see coming. Good book!

Blended Families

This book was a definite page turner I liked how the author created each character with their own storyline. The blended family shows how much issues can happen and be resolved. Each family had their own problems but was able to work them out .
