《习近平谈治国理政》第一卷、第二卷出版以来，在国内外产生了强烈反响。中共十九大以来，习近平在领导推进新时代治国理政的实践中，又发表一系列重要论述，提出许多具有原创性、时代性、指导性的重大思想观点，进一步丰富和发展了党的理论创新成果。为了推动广大干部群众学懂弄通做实习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想，不断增强“四个意识”、坚定“四个自信”、做到“两个维护”，为了帮助国际社会更好了解这一重要思想的主要内容，增进对中国共产党为什么能、马克思主义为什么行、中国特色社会主义为什么好的认识和理解，中共中央宣传部（国务院新闻办公室）会同中共中央党史和文献研究院、中国外文出版发行事业局，编辑了《习近平谈治国理政》第三卷。
《习近平谈治国理政》第三卷收入的是习近平在2017 年10月18日至2020年1月13日期间的重要著作，共有报告、讲话、谈话、演讲、指示、批示、贺信等92篇。全书分为19个专题，每个专题内容按时间顺序编排。为了便于读者阅读，编辑时作了必要的注释，附在篇末。本书还收入习近平这段时间内的图片41幅。
The first and second volumes of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China have received an enthusiastic response from China and other parts of the world. Since the 19th CPC National Congress, Xi Jinping has put forward many original ideas drawn from his experiences in state governance in the new era, charting the course in line with the times and further enriching the theoretical base of the Party. To help officials and the public understand and apply Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, to strengthen their commitment to the Four Consciousnesses, the Four-sphere Confidence and the Two Upholds, and also to help the international community gain a full appreciation of the thought and the reasons for the success of the CPC, Marxism and Chinese socialism, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council Information Office, with the support of the Research Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee and China International Publishing Group, have compiled a third volume of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China.
This volume contains a compilation of 92 of Xi Jinping's spoken and written works from October 18, 2017 to January 13, 2020, along with 41 photographs. It is divided into 19 sections by topic, with the articles in each section arranged in chronological order. For ease of reading, notes are to be found at the end of relevant articles.

This series continues to make a strong case for the need to take China's politics more and more seriously, and by contrast shows America's politicians to be growing more and more decadent and depraved.

As compared to the 2 previous versions, Xi Jinping's speeches get progressively repetitive and pedantic during the tenure of this book.
