An ex-cop who cannot die. A moon full of settlers who cannot thrive.
Mahina's terraformers built a high-tech urban paradise. Then Earth flooded the colony with desperate refugees, cop Sass Collier among them.
The settlers who arrived with Sass died decades ago. Outside the citadel, their descendants die weak and young.
Sass fought a rebellion against the city once. She won concessions to give the settlers a chance at health. She paid with 20 years in prison.
Now she’s out, a reformed character. She assembles an oddball crew doing odd jobs. She intends to mind her own business – how to make a profit on the skyship Thrive.
But her fellow settlers are still failing.
While her business model careens toward circus acts, Sass dares to defy the city again, to solve Mahina’s failure to thrive.

After 14 years on walkabout to New York, Colorado, Texas and Tokyo, I swam home to spawn in shoreline Connecticut. A recovering computer programmer, I’ve worked in the seismic industry, semiconductor electronics, academic research in biology and environmental science, and online teaching simulators.
I live alone, and enjoy swimming, walking, and crafts. I grow vegetables indoors, until my crops spill outside and down the driveway. I read voraciously, curious about everything, especially how things work.
As a sci-fi fan for 55 of my 70+ yrs., I thoroughly enjoyed reading this 3 pack of “ALOHA THRIVE”. The author does a great job of keeping the reader engaged with many twists and surprising turns of events coupled with suspense. The quirky crew manage to survive close quarter living, cat fights, cargo damage and personality conflicts, while the author keeps you wondering IF they will ever reach their destination. When I first read Ginger Booth’s claim that “if you like FIREFLY, you’ll love THRIVE” I was a bit suspicious. Now that I have read 4 of her books, I can see similarities and am a fan of both. Her style has kept me reading better than most of the sci-if books that I have read in the last 10 years. Give this series a try, I think that you’ll like it.
One of those books where they give you a blurb on Facebook and then you start reading it and then download it because you wanna know what happens next… but instead of regretting the download, I ate up this book, AND all of the sequels I could get my grubby little paws on. Then I started following the author. I love the main character, even if she does have yellow hair. She’s very dry and down to earth, even though she’s not on it any more. I couldn’t help wanting to know more of her story, and the rest of the characters. Especially Ben. Is good. Read and read again!
I loved book one so much I had to buy this box set. The continuing story of Sass and her crew was just so good. I care about each and every one of the crew. All of them go through some type of life changing adventures and I sometimes found myself on the edge of my seat. I am about to jump into the next box set. I have got to see what happens next.. Enjoy
This covers the first three books. I was undecided as I reached chapter three, but soon found myself in a page-turner reading style. Then I zoomed through the rest of the books. I like the characters and the story. It’s roped me in, and I see that the author has this in an entire coherent universe with lots of books. So, I think I’ll be drinking coffee and reading a lot in my near future. Thank you, Ginger, for creating this.
A set of characters with enough differences to make the stories interesting. Excellent world-building complete with very helpful diagrams. Lots of plot twists. Great fun.
Excellent books. Very fun to read. This is true science fiction with no massive space battles but with lots of thought given to how people will live in the future, far from earth.
