One of the difficulties of learning Icelandic is that there are few resources for learners beyond the basics. This collection of short stories for Icelandic as a second language does an excellent job of filling that gap!

While the stories themselves are not overly exciting, they offer glimpses of daily life in Iceland and have many situations and Easter Eggs that foreigners who live in Iceland will recognise. Each snippet is between 1-5 pages long and varies in difficulty (A2 to B1), with an index and further explanations at the back. I found Árstíðir perfect for getting into reading something in Icelandic without being too frustrated. While there were still words or phrases I didn't know, I could derive them from context most of the time and enjoy the story regardless.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who started learning Icelandic and wants to read more than just schoolbook texts but isn't quite advanced enough yet for a novel.

Frábert og áhugavert stutt sögur. Búinn að lært mikið af nyjum orðum frá þessu bók t.d kinkar kolli sem alrdei ég hafði aldrei heyrt áður.

Sögurnar eru cosý, fínar og gefa lesanda dálitla kynningu á landið.

Mjög flott til að hafa bók fyrir fólk sem eru að læra íslensku. Mér fannst mjög gott að sjá hversu erfiðar sögurnar eru. Það var svona mikið orðið til að læra/þýða, og mig langar að lesa þetta einu sinni enn eftir kannski 6 mánuði, til að sjá ef ég hef lært meira orðið á milli.

Mjög stuttar og einfaldar smásögur. Ég er búin að vera að læra íslensku í sex mánuði og gat lesið þær án erfiðleika. Sögurnar voru ekki rosalega spennandi en mér fannst samt gaman að lesa um daglegt líf á Íslandi.
