**Please note that this is book 3 in the Beacon Hill Series. Books 1 and 2 must be read first**No lie can stay hidden forever… was supposed to be my job. My new story. The story, if I’m being honest. The one to get me noticed and the one to get me out of Beacon Hill. What I didn’t expect was to fall for him. Flat on my face. Sound the alarms, and send search and rescue…’cause I’m a goner. He’s moody and barely talks to anyone. He’s covered in ink and everything I’m supposed to be repulsed by. So why can’t I stay away? was supposed to interview me at my shop. I thought she was doin’ a fluff piece on tattooin’—turns out jokes on me and I’m the subject. I’ve always been a good liar; I can maneuver my way out of this mess. I just wanted to live a normal, stress-free life after my time behind bars. What I didn’t expect was to need her more than I’ve ever needed anyone else. She’s loud and she talks far too much. She’s a prissy little thing and everythin’ I’ve always hated. So why do I keep pulling her back?…and he's about to make her question all her truths.
J.D. Fondry is an Amazon Bestselling Author, completely and utterly flying by the seat of her pants when it comes to this whole writing thing. She currently resides in New England, the home of saying "wicked" every other word, with her three-legged rescue pocket-pittie, Harley. If she is not working on a new novel, she can probably be found reading, binge-watching horror movies on Netflix, or stuffing her face. (Carbs are not a food group--they're a way of life). She has a strange affinity for bleach blonde men, justifies her sassy attitude by simply stating that she is a Scorpio and hates the smell of flowers.
”I’m not saying I’m a good man, I’ll be the first to admit that, but Sterling Baker sure as shit makes me want to try.”
Ah, here we go. Back to the awesome, yet partially corrupt town of Beacon Hill. This time we are hanging out with bubbly baby love, Sterling, and hot silent type, Deacon. Their love story is actually way sweeter than I expected. Do not judge Deacon by his outward appearance! Yes, the man has been to jail but he is SOFT AF for our girl Sterling. Who I love. She’s trying to shed her party girl skin, by landing a serious journalist job. Her first big story is all about Deacon. Her boss has a total hard on for Deac! He thinks he’s a straight up criminal and doing all the bad boy thangs. And if you’ve read books one and two, then you know his hard on may be justified.
During Lie to Me we get to watch Sterling & Deacon fall and love and find out if he’s TRULY the soft grumpy tattooed marshmallow that he is when she’s around, or if he’s the devil in disguise. I don’t want to spoil it, but I will say at the end of the day I ended this story loving them together. Regardless of anything else. I’ll also say, I can’t wait for the next book!
All in all this was a good read. Fondry’s writing gets better and better with each book. This book is a bit lighter than the first two, as for me they felt more angsty, but I enjoyed it that way. It worked for this couple. I think the next book is going to have a little more fun and humor with it, because of the characters.
This is another great story in the Beacon Hill series. This one is about Deacon and Sterling. It’s a great read from beginning to end that will keep you captivated and entertained throughout.
The love between Deacon and Sterling will fill you with all kinds of emotions and melt your panties from all of the steam!
JD Fondry created another amazing couple with Deacon and Sterling! I loved Kennedy and Palmer but I think I love these two even more. Deacon is the tatted up, sexy as fuck, bad boy that your parents would hate for you to bring home. While Sterling is the gorgeous party girl who never lets people see her true self. These two have some serious chemistry. I loved that while they both had an initial attraction to each other, they didn't give in right away. They let the chemistry and their feelings build before anything happened. The buildup in this book was so good and made everything else that much hotter. They initially seem so different from each other that you wouldn't think they would be a good fit but they were so right together.
I love that the underlying story from the previous books continues on through this one because it gave us a chance to still see the other characters that we love! And gave us some insight or a different POV for some previous scenes. Without going into spoilers, I will say that I wish Deacon explained a little bit more of what happened. But since this main story line isn't over yet I'm sure we will get more information on the whole situation in Travis's book. I think Travis is hilarious and can't wait to see him tripping over himself for Becks!
GENRE:CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE. AUTHOR:J.D.FONDRY TYPE: BOOK #3 OF THE BEACON HILL SERIES. POV:DUAL POV...FIRST PERSON... MY RATING: 5/5 stars...
BOOK #1 THE WAY WE BURN and Book #2 FROM THE ASHES HAVE TO READ FIRST TO UNDERSTAND THE PLOT IN THIS BOOK...
MY RATING:5/5 🌟
This story is about STERLING, Kennedy's best friend and DEACON, Palmer's friend 's love story. Sterling is the Mayor's daughter and a girl who would rather show everyone she's fine rather than show her true self. Now she has decided to grow up and to show the whole town that she is more than just a spoil rich party girl. In the previous book, we came to know that deacon is suspected from the attack on Palmer's shop...but did he really did that? Sterling targeted him for her journalist assignment and tried to find out the hidden truths...
"LIE TO ME" this book name seriously suits the story...the whole book was based on whether he is really innocent or just a devil in disguise.
During her assignment, reluctantly they fall in love...they say never mix your business with love...this story will give you a true meaning to that...they had so many steamy scenes 😳 😍 Which will just melt your panties off!!
A cold shower will be a must after you finished reading the book..
This series is really messing with my head...cliffhangers are legit in the story of awesome yet corrupted town of BEACON HILL!!!
This was such a captivating story of the love between Deacon and Sterling.
Deacon is a tatted up bad boy tattoo artist with a rap sheet which basically makes every woman want him! Nothing better than a tatted up bad boy, amni right?! He does sketchy work for one of the worst men in Beacon hill which makes him even more questionable.
Sterling is the mayor's daughter and the local ditzy party girl who is now trying to be an adult and show everyone who she really is. She becomes a journalist and her first assignment is to get the low down on Deacon. She gets more than the low down and the book is filled with plenty of steamy sessions between the two.
When Sterling finds out Deacon is a suspect for the arson of Palmer's shop, she judges him before even talking to him. She believes he did it without even asking. this breaks Deacon's heart. Sterling tries to be there for her best friend Kennedy and Palmer but when more evidence comes to light she absolutely has to talk to Deacon. She has to know whether he really did it or not and he wants nothing more than to make things right with her and his friend.
Travis and Becks are introduced as a couple in this book as well. Kennedy, Palmer, Deacon, Sterling, Travis, and Becks decide to work together to take down Deacon's boss and set him free once and for all. The plan is not fully revealed in this book as it involves Becks heavily which is hinted at in this book. It will be revealed in Good for You which is book 4. It does end on a cliffhanger relating to the plan to take down the boss.
This is my favorite of the boms so far. It gave some much needed back story to Deacon and have so much more depth to Sterling which I really loved. I loved seeing her change and develop. I loved seeing Deacon fall in love and want to protect his woman at the same time she wanted to protect him. I also really enjoyed Kennedy and sterling's friendship in this book! I can't wait for book 4!
"This is what it’s like to float. I don’t need to tread water. I don’t need to paddle. I’m not gasping for air, or trying to keep my chin up above sea level. Here, with her, I’m safe. I’m content. I’m whole."
I was a huge fan of the first two Beacon Hill books (and a huge fan of Palmer) so I didn't have any doubt about me loving this book as well. But man, I wasn't expected to be so head over heels in love with these characters and their relationship!
Sterling was such a nice surprise! I was expecting more of how her character was portrayed in this first two books, party girl, carefree. This wasn't the case this time around whatsoever. And I was thrilled to see beyond all that. We get to see her depth, her heart, her talent. How she really is trying her best to make a life for herself, on her own. I loved the progression we got of her character. I absolutely adored her.
Deacon.. holy shit. So as I stated earlier I've always been a Palmer girl. And I still am... but... I instantly fell for Deacon. HARD. First of all, Texan. Uh hi, born and raised right here. But he wasn't your typical southern boy. Oh, he had that southern charm, and it was literally jumping off the pages. But he had that edge to him. His music taste was really great. I myself love country music, but it isn't my diehard favorite, and it was nice to see a southern man portrayed a little bit differently. He was a total hardass but so gentle and soft with Sterling. I had so many notes about different things he said, did, or just how he reacted to her in general that I loved. I love how he loves.
I loved how the other characters were brought in because they all work so well with each other dialogue-wise. It does end with a slight cliffhanger, but I was expecting that. This also means I've already started Travis and Becks story in Good For You!
Overall, another amazing read from JD Fondry and I can't wait to see what else she has in store for these characters. Even beyond Beacon Hill, I will read anything she puts out knowing it'll be great!
This book was the perfect complement to the Beacon Hill series. Something so so good about this series that Fondry does so well is keeping the books on the same timeline as the others but not feel like you’re rereading the story. I hate when books go and tell the same exact story from another point of view. Sometimes it’s just exhausting. Rather than retell a story, Fondry actually takes minor overlooked events in her first book and makes them more significant in her second or third.
Now lets about Sterling and Deacon. Sterling is the typical goody two shoes innocent looking girl with an edge to her. Beacon is the tattooed up ex-con who owns a tattoo shop in BH. On paper, these two seem like total opposites that would never ever end up together. In this story, they are each other's missing pieces. Sterling comes into the tattoo parlor planning to get a juicy story on the extremely low-profile Deacon. Deacon on the other hand is looking to just make everyone happy and agrees to do it for the good of his shop. But, as they get to know one another their relationship sparks and speaks for itself.
I loved the chemistry written between these characters. Where Deacon struggles to speak, Sterling is able to fill in the lines. Their banter is hilarious but they get each other completely. Even at his lowest, Sterling pieces things together and becomes his rock, reinforcing the relationship even more.
The book continues to explain some insignificant events from the first book and continues the subplot as well. Obviously Fondry leaves us on our toes waiting for more with a cliffhanger leading us right into little Palmer and his girl. 😉
Genre: Contemporary Romance Trope: Small Town Romance, New Start, Opposites Attract.
(I was given an ARC in exchange for a honest review)
We’re back in the small and somewhat corrupt town of Beacon Hill. This time we’re following the story of the quiet and broody ex-con Deacon Lennox and bubbly “life-of-the-party” Sterling Baker.
It’s a beautiful story where two very different people fall in love in the most unexpected circumstances. Sterling has started her new job as a reporter for the local newspaper, The Beacon Calling. Her boss wants her to dig up dirt on the fresh out of prison tattoo artist Deacon, who he believes still has his hands deep in illegal activities. She has been assigned to spend two weeks with him at his tattoo shop to observe, interview and hopefully get enough incriminating information on him to put him back in prison.
In this book you will truly discover who Deacon Lennox really is. Don’t be quick to judge him on his outward appearance because behind the grumpy facade, Deacon is really a big softy who has fallen hard for Sterling. Many things happen in this book so I won’t spoil it for you, but what I will say is that the dominos are starting to fall into place to bring down the “Big Bad Wolf” , Travis has a new love interest and the finale is going to be amazing. I look forward to the next book.
Okay, so I have to be honest, I was a little skeptical going into this book because I adored Kennedy and Palmers story. Like I felt let down that this book was not about them...wow talk about judging a book by its characters! THIS BOOK IS MY FAVORITE OF THE SERIES. JD Fondry not only had an amazing playlist (seriously check it out) but she took this book and created an amazing story. I am so on board with sterling and deacons story that it honestly trumped Kennedy and Palmers. Lie to me was everything you need and want in a story, not to mention, it’s such a real life scenario involving its main characters, you can’t help but feel apart of the story.
Sterling is the typical party girl, trying to start her career, and has gotten by being the mayors daughter. Deacon is an ex con, owns a tattoo parlor, and judging by the way he looks covered in tattoos head to toe he’s not exactly the ideal boyfriend you take home to your already judgmental parents. These two don’t exactly hit it off at first being almost polar opposites. Sterling is a chatter box while Deacon says bare minimum. Watching their relationship evolve was picture perfect. Of course they run into a few bumps but I promise you will fall in love with their story if you loved Kennedy and Palmers! I highly recommend this book 3 of 4...it was my favorite!!!
So I had this amazing review typed up and Goodreads went and erased it. So I'm sorry in advance because this will not be as good.
I need Lie To Me more than air after that cliffhanger in From the Ashes. Fondry knows what she's doing and she's doing it amazingly. At the end of book two I hated Deacon and I needed answers.
Deacon is the broody, sexy as sin, man. He's back from prison. Sterling is the gorgeous, party girl, and best friend to Kennedy. These two have an immediate chemistry that just burns the pages.
Lie To Me does overlap in time with From the Ashes so therefore Fondry did make me wait for my answers but it was well worth the wait. This book is packed with it all, steam, twist/turns, friendship, suspense.
The Beacon Hill series is very much a must read in order series. While Lie To Me is about a different couple the storyline continues through all three books so far. While you can read without the others I don't think you'll get the full experience if you don't read all.
J.D. Fondry has me hooked on Beacon Hill. I love these characters and this world. While you may not see it right away, every character is there for a reason. They aren't just random.
All I can (because I'm nervous I'm going to give something away) is Lie to Me is another 5 star, must read in the Beacon Hill series.
Holy heart eyes for the good bad boys… or is it bad good boys? Actually, it doesn’t even matter because I’m pretty sure Deacon Lennox fits into both categories. If I could hand pick all the qualities in my version of the perfect man, it would be Deacon himself. 🖤 And if I could grow up to be like someone, I hope I radiate some of those Sterling vibes into the world. I knew from the moment Sterling was introduced in book one of the series that I would love her. Every chapter peeled back a new layer to Sterling + Deacon and I was HeReEe for it. Lie To Me had my emotions all over the place. One minute I was drooling and the next I was laughing, sweating, crying, and smiling like a proud parent (possibly in that order or all at once 🤷🏻♀️). J.D. Fondry is a word wizard. It’s the only thing that makes sense. Oh, and as if Deacon + Sterling weren’t enough, I was sooo excited to see more of Palmer + Kennedy because let’s be real here, I’m not over him either. 😫 If you haven’t read The Way We Burn (Beacon Hill #1), start there because you do NOT want to miss that ride either!
This time around we have the bubbly and talkative Sterling and hot silent type Deacon falling for each other.
I have to say going into this book, I knew I'd enjoy it, but didn't to expect to love it as much as I did!!💕
Sterling is trying to shed her party girl image from books 1 & 2 and become a journalist, even if it's for one of her fathers good friends ( her dad being the mayor and all) newspaper.
Her first story is to work on getting all the juicy details on Deacon as he's recently been released from prison and is back working at the tattoo shop he owns. While she starts to crack the shell that is around Deacon, they both realize there's more to the weeks they've spent together than getting to know each other.
The more he talks to her the more he feels comfortable in opening up and opening his heart too.
This is a great book I love J.D Fondrys writing more and more with each book. Not as much angst as the first 2 but that wouldn't have worked for Sterling and Deacon.
I’ve been waiting to have the time to be able to sit down and read Sterling & Deacon’s story. Y’all know, I already fell in love with Beacon Hill. Like, I just wanna pack up, and move in.... the only thing stopping me? I’m a Southern girl, and relocating to places in fiction is HARD. Anyways. This couple burned in such a different way than Kennedy & Palmer. It wasn’t a flash, it wasn’t slow, it was kind of a methodical creeping. Just something you knew was inevitable. Deacon all closed off was kind of a grizzly bear. Deacon all loved up was more of a teddy bear. I love that. When a man can melt for his woman, you know it’s a good vibe. And Sterling. Having Deacon kind of softened her up, made her calm down a bit. I’m here for it. Also, can I have Travis? Just wanna keep him all to myself.
In Lie to Me, the story deviates away from Kennedy and Palmer, although they are still background characters and the previous plot still continues, the book primarily focuses on Sterling and Deacon!
We have come to know (and love) Sterling as Kennedy’s party girl bestie, but she’s also an aspiring journalist attempting to get her sh*t together. She is thrown together with Deacon Lennox, a tattoo artist fresh out of prison, when he becomes the focus of her first story at the local paper. The unlikely duo have hella chemistry for being polar opposites, but somehow it works!
When the story finally merges with where we left off in From the Ashes, Sterling is stuck between siding with her bestie or the man she’s falling for. With her sleuthing, the truth does come to light, and we finally have some answers that tie the previous books in with this one.
Can’t wait for Travis & Becks story, and to see how this ends!

Sterling, Sterling, Sterling, the cards are stacked against this girl right from the start. Deacon is an ex-con, tattoo covered tattoo artist, with that sweet southern charm, bad boy reputation AND sexy as all get out? Girl never stood a chance. Sterling is breaking out of her spoiled princess party girl persona, she’s ready to show the world she’s a smart, hardworking women. Deacon is just trying to survive. He works hard and continually, keeps his head down and tries to put grow that ex con stigma the town has given him. When put together with Sterling for a newspaper article, his rough and tough exterior, mixed with her mile a minute chit chat they melt together like not two could. I am loving the interlocking storylines and fantastic characters! This has been a really great series and I’m so excited to see how it all unfolds!
Well I didn’t expect that to be the ride it was. . Ok sterling is growing on me. But I absolutely love deacon. This was a whirlwind read. No shortage of drama and angsty moments but the tender ones I’m here for. Especially when it comes to a guy like deacon. I’m literally a puddle of melted goo. . It was interesting diving deeper into the beacon hills world. Where ken and palmers story was slow burn this one was the opposite but for the situation it worked. I enjoyed seeing these characters find what they were missing and their homes with each other. I could definitely relate to both on some level which made the connection to this read all the more real. . I have loved the journey of this series so far and I cannot wait to see what Travis and becks have for us. I’m sure it would be just as wild.
Lie To Me, J.D. Fondry. . . I’m so thankful to have received this ARC copy from the lovely author herself! This book dropped today guys! Go grab your copy on amazon, I know I sure did. I always like having a hard copy as well. . . Where do I even begin? This book blew me away. If you haven’t read her first two book, DO IT. The third book is a little different from the first two, this is Sterling & Deacons story. And it’s the BEST. Sterling takes on a job I don’t think she’s quite ready for, and she sure is in for a wild ride. Learning all about Sterling & Deacons world gets pretty crazy, but it keeps you not wanting to put this book down. Now, here I am, needing the fourth book. I am dying to know what happens next! . . Thanks so much for this copy! @authorj.d.fondry
this book took me by surprise!! i loved sterling and deacon so much. it has been amazing just reading each of the stories and watching their love grow along with the friendships. jd just improves so much with every book she releases and i cant wait for travis' book!
sterling and deacons story was just so cute. deacon took me by surprise, he has a bad boy look and reputation but he is such a softie and he blushes like omg thats adorable.
sterling is amazing as well! she is strong and independent while not giving a fuck about anybody else. theyre just perfect for each other!
im looking forward to who will win finally the war.

I have to say this is not at all what I expected, it's way better. Sterling surprised me by being so genuine and fighting hard to being taken seriously. She is increribly loyal, risking a lot to protect the people she loves. However, my biggest surprise was Deacon. I don't want to spoil it, but he is so soft!!!! I was honestly shocked and I really really loved it. The story itself and the plot gets more interesting with every book and I can't even belive that the next one is Travis' (which fyi I have been waiting since the first one so excuse me). I also would like to say that it's noticiable how J.D. Fondry's writing is getting better and better with every book, can't wait for the rest!!!
Well now. I thought Kennedy and Palmer's story was full of drama but it had nothing on Sterling amd Deacon. This is the first series I've read by this author and I am thoroughly hooked. I love how the characters and their lives are interwoven. It adds something extra to the story that would be missing without it. Even though this would technically be a spin-off, its so well written that you can see how the first two books intertwine with this one. The author did a fantastic job and I'm looking forward to Travis and Beck's story.
Deacon and Sterling’s story was everything I wanted and more! I fell hard for them. From the moment they exchanged words on that very first day in front of the tattoo shop until the very end. I’m obsessed with this whole crew. The loyalty, camaraderie, love, friendship...it’s all weaved into brilliant writing and a story that will stick with you.
Dang though, JD Fondry really liked to tease us with those cliffhangers! But I know the wait will be well worth it!
Okay, just when I thought I couldn’t love them more, I get to know Sterling and Deacon and... wow. Again, character development is stellar. These characters are SO well rounded. They seem so familiar and relatable and lovable. You truly WANT to know them. Or you know, just wake up in Deacons bed... I mean... 🥵 Sorry, Sterling. An incredibly detailed different perspective, which is hard to nail from a writers perspective but again, she did it. The multiple story lines from different POV while also letting us into the world of Sterling and Deacon? I’m astounded. 4 and 5 will be here Friday. I guess my weekend is spoken for!
It gets harder and harder for me to pick a favorite character. I just loved these two as the main characters. Things clicked and everything became abundantly clear and meshed together well from the first two books. I wanna see them take that asshole, Laurent down! I am super excited to get to know more about Trav and Becks in the next installment. Is it Fall yet??

Deacon and Sterling...can you say hot as hell? The drama continues in book three, but dug even deeper. The twists and turns in this book had me REELING. I was on the edge of my seat the whole book. And the scenes between Deacon and Sterling were HOT. AS. HELL. But I can't lie, I am SO EXCITED for book four. Becks puts out MAJOR BADASS vibes.
This is the third book I’ve read from this author and her writing get better and better. The love between Sterling and Deacon is captivating. The chemistry between these two is off the charts hot. If you haven’t read the first two book, then do it. You won’t be disappointed. I cannot wait for Travis and Becky’s story to see how this ends. Another 5 🌟read
Loved this book! Sterling surprised me. She came off and the fun party girl in the previous books but I loved how she was smart driven and loyal. Deacon.... what a babe. Big buff broody tattooer but he’s so soft spoken and sweet. They were so cute together and balanced each other out perfectly. I just love the Beacon Hill world and getting a peek into Trav and Becks relationship made me so excited to read the next book.
Being a HUGE fan of Palmer and Kennedy at this point, I was apprehensive having the story from Deacon and Sterling. It was an interesting new perspective and I LOVED how easily the author intertwined the story lines so it still felt like you were in “their world.” I grew to love Deacon and Sterling just as much as Palmer and Kennedy. I can’t wait to dive into the next book!
I loved Deacon and Sterling in this book. This was such an enjoyable read. Each book in this series is getting better and better. This story is action packed, full of steam and lots of twists and turns. I highly recommend this book!!
This steam session was HOT! Totally loved every word I read. Anyone who hasn't started this seriously smoking series well you're missing out thats for sure.
Do yourself a favor and start reading them....now.
