A bored Ravenswind witch is a dangerous witch, indeed.
With Amie and Opie away at a bounty hunter seminar, and Arc working crazy long hours at the firm, I'm left to my own devices. And just for the record, I totally should have been going to that event too. Not that I'm bitter about that or anything. Well, not too bitter, anyway.
And wouldn't you know it, but not just one but both of our bonds agencies were fresh out of work. Or at least, that's what they told me. Personally, I think Amie had a bit to do with that.
Like I can't handle chasing down a bond runner on my own or something.
So there I was, with three whole days to myself to fill up, and absolutely nothing to fill them with. Until I found out that my good friend, Mabel Morgan, was being blackmailed.
Now I'm on a case all by my lonesome.
I'll show them that Ruby Ravenswind is a witch not to be messed with. And one that could handle herself just fine, thank you very much.
I'll show them all.
Yorkie Doodle Dandy is a short Gemstone Coven Paranormal Cozy Mystery Novella. No murder. Just a light, fun, how to prove they done it kind of mystery, starring none other than Ruby Ravenswind and her faithful familiar, Yorkie Doodle.
Belinda lives in a tiny house fairly close to McCormick’s Creek State Park in Indiana. She shares her home with a German Shepherd. Please note that any and all resemblances to Tazlynn Hunt, the main character in The Benandanti series, is purely coincidental.
Belinda White is not, in fact, a werewolf. No really, she isn't...
This was a cute, short read. The cover drew me in. How cute is that yorkie? This was my first book by Belinda White. I was not aware that this series is a spin off from another series. That information might have helped me understand why I was feeling like I should know who Amie and Ruby are. I enjoyed the story. It is a short story at just over 100 pages. The mystery did not involve a dead body though there is a dead body in it, (a ghost I am interested in hearing more about - that might be in the first series though). The mystery being different from usual caught my interest. It was solved fairly easy but I enjoyed the creative way Ruby handled it. It was a little short for me to really determine if I like Ruby and Arc. Amie really wasn’t there long enough for me to determine anything about her except that she is a witch. I did love Destiny and Yorkie Doodle, (I adored Yorkie Doodle giving the epilogue). If you are in need of something to read on your lunch hour, this is perfect.
Short but a lot of fun read. This is Ruby's story, when left alone because Amie is off on a conference and Arc, the boyfriend, is busy with work. Creating a garden sounded fun, and of course, looking after Amie's familiar, and of course, cooking a meal for her man when he comes home - no biggie - and of course helping a friend in need out, which has the added bonus of proving that she could stand on her own too feet and suddenly the no biggies become a mountain of commitments and work and no-enough-time-to-do-each-one-properly!
I can so empathise with Ruby, as I am someone who has been there and done it and it really resonates with me. However, she stuck with it and produced a result that anyone would be proud of. Poor Yorkie is a sweetheart and so often bullied by Destiny, Amie's snarky familiar, who I adore. White has written her so well and so true to form that I can actually picture her disdain, ouch! Totally enjoyable read, very cleverly written and the animals are of course, the stars!
This was a cute short spin-off story featuring Ruby Ravenswind, cousin of Amie from the Accidental Familiar series. I didn't know any of this when I started it--gotta admit, I borrowed it because of the stinking cute cover and I liked the preview I read--but I found out afterward that I liked the characters enough and already had the first in the Accidental Familiar series, so I wanted to read that next. I did notice that when the characters were mentioned, it was like they were already known.
I just loved Liz, the ghost character! She made a good ride along sleuthing buddy. I had kind of figured that Ruby wasn't normally a main character, but in this book she was because her cousin was away on bounty hunter business. A short book usually doesn't have a murder which was fine. I liked how Ruby went about proving what she needed to in order to help her friend Mabel at the library. I'll be borrowing more in this series as they come out. I've already started the first book in the original series these characters came from.
This was a wonderfully entertaining paranormal cozy mystery and the only thing that threw me about it was my fault. I didn't realize that while it's Book One, it's a spinoff series based on the characters and world-building of two other series by the author. If you've read either of those, I have no doubt you'll love this.
There was no murder, which was different (in a good way) and while there wasn't a huge effort to hide the likely suspect, the way the MC went about solving it was well written and quite humorous. The paranormal aspect wasn't over the top either.
Note: Available on KU at time of posting. Recommended to cozy mystery readers, especially those who enjoy ones with a paranormal twist. First in series, but for maximum enjoyment, I would suggest reading the series this is based on first. I plan to go back and read the other books by this author.
Ruby is left to her own devices when Amie and Opie leave town for a few days. Ruby is so use to being with Amie, she doesn't know what to do with herself. She even asked if there were any bonds runners, but both said there was nothing. She is told that Liz that Mabel was there looking for them. She goes to see Mabel, finds out that she is being blackmailed. Ruby decides that she is going to help Mabel before she drops out of the race. Ruby will have her hands full trying to take care of the cat, trying to food shop, finding out the blackmail and more. You will enjoy reading this book. You will see Ruby grow as a person before the end of it.

Ruby and Amie have been going through some big changes in their lives.
Her move to the farm has her spending more time with Amie, and she now lives together with her beau Arc. She never spent time being really on her own in the interim.
When Amie goes off to a conference with her own man, Ruby discovers a little lonesomeness, a little guilt about not spending enough time and energy with other people and projects, and a bit of independence
Fun and smart adventures- complete with some brilliant familiars

Felt like this was a short story from a series I haven’t read yet. Readable on its own, to be fair. I just felt like the author thought I already knew these characters. I’d read more of these characters’ stories. Ruby Ravenswind is A witch in her own right, but she generally operates in Amie’s shadow. When Amie is away at a conference, she tackles a few witchy projects on her own, including solving a friend’s blackmailing case and creating her witch garden, both of which may or may not be too much for her to handle, considering she can’t even remember to go grocery shopping despite having bare cupboards and a hungry boyfriend.
Oh boy, do these familiars think so highly of themselves, even if one of them was blessed with the Goddess in them. But their antics do give one pause and make you think about the probability that your pet carries some of their traits, too; you know, the aloofness, superiority complex, the condescension, etc. Hey Ruby, if you don't believe in yourself, how can you expect someone else to believe in you? Finding your own identity in a large, close-knit family can be tough. You need to break away a little at a time to build your confidence up, knowing that your family has your back... all you need to do is ask. Some might surprise you and give you what you need without any prompting.
Cute Story. Ruby has a case to handle all on her own. With her older sister and boyfriend at a conference for a few days, and Ruby’s boyfriend busy with work, Ruby takes on a case for a friend. But with the case, caring for her sister’s cat, putting in a garden, and making sure she has dinner on the table when Arc gets home, she’s run ragged. But she gets it done in the end and solves the case. This was a funny story, and I especially liked the epilogue at the end. Smart dog and cat. Blackmail With Amie and Opie away at a bounty hunter seminar, and Arc working crazy long hours at the firm, I'm left to my own devices. And just for the record, I totally should have been going to that event too. Not that I'm bitter about that or anything. Well, not too bitter, anyway. It was a case of blackmail. The culprit was running for mayor. With the help of a ghost it was solved. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
If you read any of the familiar magic series you will like this book also. It took me a couple pages to get use to the different character perspective. The story is written from Ruby’s thoughts instead of Aimee’s. As short stories go this one packed a lot of story into a small amount of space because it figured you already new the characters and their background. I think this could be a great companion series to the original.
Amie and Opie are off to a conference leaving Ruby alone to take care of Destiny Which Ruby has a hard time forgetting to feed Destiny but someone in the community needs Ruby's help...they are being blackmailed Does Ruby figure out who the blackmailer is or does nude photos start circulating through the town! You'll have to read the book to find out Especially liked the epilogue
I loved it it so well written a new series introduced from delightful characters from another paranoid witchy series 😀this time it's the younger generation turn to shine with their familiars to help their white witches out. A short and definitely sweet 😊 pocket book size novel. Acquire " Yorkie Doodle Dandy " enjoy getting introduced to this new series. Kat
Gardening and blackmail When Amie is gone to a bondsmen conference, the team thinks they arranged for Ruby not to have any work. Ruby, however, is determined to prove that she is capable of handling things on her own. Destiny may disagree.
Liz sees an opportunity to help and gets a chance to try experiencing time away from the home estate.
A quick little adventure read about finding justice and being self sufficient.
Even though this is supposed to be the first book in a series, it reads more like the a book far along in a series. The characters just appear without introduction or explanation of how they are related to one another. Apparently there is some sort of family business, but it's never really explained what it's all about. The eponymous Yorkie Doodle is not a major player. I can only guess this is a spin off from another series, but I have no idea which series.
I really loved this story! Growing up and becoming independent can be a daunting thing for pretty much everybody. This is a lovely story about expanding your horizons by shoving through your fears with a little help from your friends. The paranormal aspect is icing on the cake. Loved every minute of it!

I’m so happy that we’re getting books with all the different Gemstone witches! It’s fun reading from a different perspective. Ruby is funny! I loved how she stuck it to the bad guys. So perfect! And the epilogue by Yorkie Doodle was great!

Cute quick read. Took a little for me to get into at first but once I got into it I read it pretty quick. The main character, Ruby, was quite the character. At first, I found her rather annoying but she grew on me. Her dog was quite the cutie. The mystery wasn't much of a mystery. It was very obvious but it was an interesting process with how it was resolved.
I love these stories. They are so darn sweet. Ruby needed a reboot. She had been so confident when she was stronger than Amie in magic. This series provided that. So happy she got to rediscover herself! Oh and men can go grocery shopping too! They both were working. Hmph!
A quick read, though I didn't realise it was a spin-off from a previous series so it took a while to work out who was who. I also expected the Yorkie to feature more. That said, it kept my interest through to the end and I'd be happy to read more about these characters.
This is a fun, quick read that focuses on Ruby finding her place in a changing environment and realizing she can help others and also herself by nurturing her connections with family and friends.
Although it was my pleasure to receive this free book from the author, it was completely my choice to share my honest review.
After reading the third book in the series, I had to start over with Yorkie Doodle Dandy. Belinda White has hooked me and I will be checking out all the books connected to these guys and will be looking into the other series. Short but packs a big story. A great read for fans of cozy mysteries or light paranormal. Great characters.
Awesome book~ its a true story and one that will really touched my heart and if you, like me, have a pal who is a little Yorkie with a big heart in yiur life, then you will not want to miss this~ I loved it so much I'm reading it again ♡
Belinda White is definitely one of my new favorite authors. This series is very entertaining and yet it will still make you want to shed a tear at times.
