A faerie in a jar. A summer of magic. Seven years thinking he wasn't real.

This is the beginning of the dark faerie series by internationally best-selling author Angela M Hudson.

Faerie turned foster kid, the troubled young Aerik has been banished from the kingdom he belongs. Unloved, unwanted, and all alone in the human world, he never imagined he'd see his childhood friend, Cami Dixon, again.

But, as Cami leads us down a rabbit hole of magical wonders and toiling troubles when she follows the hot but cruel faerie to his island home, her story becomes one of terror and survival.

And if the sun-fearing nightfolk have anything to say about it, the cage Cami's trapped in will be the last thing she ever sees.

Trouble is, she's the only one Aerik will trust, and if she doesn't warn him of the Summer Queen's clever plot, who will?

But saving someone who doesn't know they need to be saved, in a world you don't understand, with dark and cruel creatures constantly working to stop you, is a lot harder than it sounds.

YES SHE'S BACK.
I love this author's world building and story telling and she never disappointed me in all the books i have read of hers, and this one is no exception. Angela dragged me into this fae world where nothing is as it seems, you think you have a idea where she is going with this story but then 'BOOM' everything changes which left me stunned with how this author's mind works.

I love the character of Cami she is a strong heroine that had a awful upbringing with parents that didn't really care enough, and Aerik what can i say about him to start with he was lovely when they both met when he was eleven but who became a right bad boy bully to Cami when they met up again at school when they were eighteen as he thought she had left him when they were young.

There journey from the human world to the fae world was like nothing i had read before it was so unique from anything she has written before that it had me totally hooked, i just have no words how engrossed i was in this additive world that Angela has created yet again, it is a spellbinding captivating world that will have you on the ride of your life along with Cami and all the obstacles she faced around every corner on her journey to find Aerik.

If you love a pnr fantasy read with lots of twists where nothing is as its seems, that will keep you hooked all the way through this is the book for you, i highly recommend this book so give it a go trust me you won't look back, beware though as nothing is as it seems, so hang on to your hats and enjoy the ride.Five Huge Fairy Stars.

I absolutely enjoyed this book. From the start, the storyline felt quite promising. It was very smart to finish it with a cliffhanger like that because it makes it impossible not to read the sequel/s. I was afraid the wait would be longer but thankfully books two and three are scheduled for this year. I've never read a book by this author before but I'm very glad I took the chance.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of the book via BookFunnel.

Series Info/Source: This is the first book in the Evernight Fae series. There are seven books in this series. I borrowed a copy of this ebook through Kindle Unlimited.

Thoughts: This was an intriguing start to a fae-based young adult paranormal series. I like the snarky tone to the story, although there are some issues with how the writing flows at points. I also struggled a bit with Cami’s motivation to put herself into a very dangerous situation to help someone who very obviously didn’t want her help.

The story starts by following Cami as a child; she accidentally finds a fae boy (Aerik) trapped in a faerie jar. They spend the summer together but Cami’s parents freak out when Cami starts talking about faeries and they end up convincing her that Aerik’s not real. Many years pass and then Cami bumps into Aerik at her local high school which triggers a whole series of events. Cami then ends up venturing into the dangerous fae realm to find Aerik.

I love fae based stories and enjoyed this one. As I said above, the writing is a bit disjointed at times but I was able to look past this and enjoy the unique setting. I really enjoyed how snarky Cami is and her strangely practical attitude in such weird circumstances. I was engaged in the story the whole time and enjoyed this quick read.

My Summary (4/5): Overall I enjoyed this. I liked the characters and the intriguing fae world presented here. This is a pretty basic YA paranormal faerie themed story. However, Cami’s snarky attitude really makes this entertaining and sets it apart from other YA faerie novels. It is a fun and fluffy little read that was entertaining. My only complaint was that the writing was disjointed at times and came off as a bit amateurish, hopefully that will improve as the series continues. I plan on reading the next book in the series.

Wow! This is the type of book you feel fully engrossed in, and are truly shocked when you drift back to reality and look up to find yourself in a normal human world instead of deep in a magical Fae Kingdom. I often worry when an author, well-known for a particular series, writes new material. I'm nervous that I'll just be reading a rehashed version of their prior works. But this book was beyond expectations. While Ms. Hudson's writing style is apparent the character traits and overall tone, this book is truly unique and separate from her Dark Secrets Series. (Which if you haven't read, you definitely should). Can't wait to see what's in store for the rest of the series!

This is the first book I've read by this author, but it wont be the last! It was YA which isn't normally my favourite trope, but it was fantasy/paranormal which I love and I really enjoyed this. The story was very engaging, was the fairy in the jar real or not?

Cami has had a tough childhood, parents who didn't care about anything but their image and what they put Cami through is awful. However, there is an air of magic around where she grows up and when she finds a small boy stuck in a jar, it's the start of a beautiful friendship......until it's not.

Cami is a strong character, loyal and brave, but slightly naïve with such insecurities. Aerik is a mystery, bright and colourful as an eleven year old, dark, mean and moody as an older teen, but their connection is obvious even when they are enemies. The journey to the land of the Fae was magical, poor Cami, who can she trust!! Angela M Hudson clearly has a great talent for world building, it was vivid and full of depth and detail. I only had one pet peeve and this is purely a personal preference, but it was the overuse of the word "like" when Cami spoke. I know it is YA and she is a teenager, but it's a personal bug bear of mine so may not bother anyone else.

I'm very intrigued as to where this story goes, especially after that ending, who should Cami believe? Is she finally being told the truth or is everything in the land of the Fae one big trick? I'm looking forward to finding out!

Lots of promise. I read this thru KU. It is a serial; the books are not standalone as they have no real ending, nor really even a beginning between books. You really have to read them in order for them to make sense.

The enemies to lovers premise is one of my faves. I thought the style was a bit gimmicky but overall it works very well. I found it a fresh take on fae and I am interested to see where the story goes. I really enjoyed the book and I think there is lots of potential here. Hence, 5 stars.

Angela did it again! I don’t want to go into detail about the book as most probably have not read it yet because it just came out. Angela is absolutely one of if not the best author! Thank you so much Angela for another great epic trilogy!

First review of a book ever!

I have to say, it takes something special for me to WANT to review a book. The imagery these words create in my mind is almost movie like. If there isn't a deal in the works for some sort of film, girl... You need to hit up Netflix and Shonda. The main character is relatable in a way that I'm convinced she should be 30 while going through this adventure.

I highly recommend, and can't wait to read the next!

A new take on fairies and into a new realm besides our own. A fantasy world for adults that allows us to venture into a fantasyland but with a story that gives us more possibilties, romance and unexpected turns. Angela Hudson never disappoints.

I’m loving this story so far, especially the way it left off definitely makes you need to read the next book. The magic system in this book is a bit different from the usual. So it’s a nice change. Will continue this series further.

Great start to a new series! I find Angela Hudson’s writing so immersive and captivating. Her unique take on faeries is refreshing and I can’t wait to see where she takes this story. If this is anything like her other series I know I’m in for a wild ride.

A great author that kept me reading. Clearly very talented. However, I’m just not into YA anymore, seeing as I am an adult, borderline old lady. Very big cliffhanger but not enough progress of the plot to make me want to continue

2 stars, since I really liked chapter 1-4. It's just one car crash after another from that point on. All that potential completely wasted. DNF at 42%.

Yet again, this author has reminded me why she is one of my favorites! So different from her last books (which are my favorites), If These Wings Could Fly is great for any who enjoy different takes on the Fae. If never read a fairy story I didn't like and I've never read an Angela M. Hudson book I haven't loved.
