The fourteenth book in the tremendously popular “ United States Marshal” series has arrived. This is the Western series that drives readers to keep reading—because Marshal Timber is always one shot away from being killed. “Stop The Presses” will prove to be an exciting ride—are you ready to face those who break the law with Marshal Timber?
Cyrus Claxston has a dream of owning and running a newspaper, but he unknowingly picked one of the most corrupt towns in which to start it. The bigwigs didn't want him there, no sirree. When retired U.S. Marshal Jake Timber rocked up in Wichita Falls, having brought in two dead outlaws and waiting for his bounty money, he found himself as Cyrus' friend and defender. Timber can't stand when people are bullied. Will they get run out of town? Or will Timber mete out his own brand of justice?
One of the better on-going western series I have had the opportunity to follow, and Mr. Hanlon pulls no punches in his descriptive renditions of how our old American West was probably tamed!to sum it up:Outstanding job!
Most definitely five stars worthy of outstanding western adventures, as Lucas enters Wichita Falls in search of two fugitives worth $5000.00 each. After locating the two, they tried to out shoot him but failed in their efforts. The Sheriff appears to be in the pockets of local rancher and the town banker. Outstanding storylines that successfully portrays the normal flow of realistic old western crooked lifestyles of local powerfully influential big wigs. Too, the character selections could not have been any better portrayed, as they continuously fulfilled their assigned roles to perfection! Timber befriends a newspaper enthusiast, who is seeking to open a new newspaper office in Wichita but immediately draws the ire of the town's upper crust. This causes Timber to befriend the meek newsman and the rest is a tumultuous relationship between them and the upper crusts of Wichita resulting in a very exciting firefight between these two and the ambitious rancher. Timber is assisted by an unsuspecting public servant. You must read this compassionate storytelling masterpiece to determine who that person is!! Definitely recommend this compassionately entertaining story to everyone, but especially to all of you western addicted fanatics as I am. Too, you non-western readers will find yourselves completely mesmerized by the way Mr. Hanlon's outstanding descriptiveness of each and every exciting episode of outstanding entertaining revelations throughout the entire book! You are definitely the loser, if you don't follow Timber and his new found friend Cyrus!!!😅
Like most Timber books, the author has a tendency in each book to get stuck on similar sounding or spelled names. This one also has a character than uses a moniker that also starts with “W.” Use a little creativity when naming characters, otherwise, it’s easy to get them confused early on.
I like the way the author tells about the trouble they have getting a printing press in the city and and enjoying the freedom of the press. I think anyone would love this book and I recommend it to it. everyone. It's kept me up till I finally finished it. So enjoyable I have to give it a five star rating.
This was a good western in general but definitely needed a lot of proofreading. There was plenty of action, shootouts, and fist fights as Timber rounds up the bad guys and collects their bounties only to throw in with an Easterner to start up a local town newspaper. Typical story line but one still worth reading. I would recommend it!
This story is the kind of dramatic adventure that truly tells the saga of the movement west. It is interesting and told well. Moreover, it keeps you interested in what is next.
The on-going adventures of Timber are just plain fun to read. I've enjoyed each and every single tale so far and will keep reading them as they are published.
