It’s sweet and fairly lighthearted with a bit of mystery and magic mixed in. The storyline could definitely move faster by getting rid of unnecessary details about everyone’s outfits and what they’re eating, but it’s not awful. I can tell action is coming, but it’s taking forever to get to that point, and anytime there’s a glimpse of it, it’s over as quickly as it started. Vivilyn and Aiden are sweet though, and the supporting characters add some nice variety. It seems somewhat obvious who the spies may be, so we’ll see if there’s a twist at some point. Once again, this seemed like a mini episode rather than a completed movie, the ending felt like the end of another chapter instead of the book. It lacked the weight or substance that the end of a book should. There wasn't any drama or suspense, nothing that pulls you into the next book. Instead of every book in this series having its own contained plot, you’re reading one story broken down into 10 parts, which could have easily been whittle down to four books at this pace. There's definitely potential here — the world building and characters and mysterious plot — but it feels like running after a carrot that's being dangled in front of you. You know there's more to the story, it's just taking forever to actually get to the good stuff.
