Ever After #2
Tempting Prince Charming
Real Estate mogul Thad Worthington has the world at his fingertips. Anything he wants, he can have...except love, it seems.
When he indulges his habit of playing guitar and singing in a coffee shop for an open mic night, he knows he can just be himself. And that's when he meets her... a woman who doesn't see his money or his name, she just sees him. He would give anything to have her in his bed...and maybe in his heart. But life isn't a fairy tale, and things are a lot more complicated when he learns she has a wicked stepmother who will stop at nothing to keep them apart...

While I enjoyed the concept I was unfortunately not charmed by this story. I have enjoyed three of the five novels by Lauren Smith to give them 4 stars so I'm optimistic that I will continue have a pleasant reading experience with her books

(audiobook) I was charmed. Literally, since the story was heavily inspired by fairytales. You’ll find a Cinderella-like heroine, a prince–of course–and even an evil stepmother. Absolutely delightful.
It isn’t exactly a retelling, but there are many elements from Cinderella. The contemporary setting, and the little changes in the storyline compared to the old tale, revitalize the traditional tropes, though the author keeps some of the imagery. It isn’t subtle by any means, but since the characters reference fairytales themselves inside the story, it felt more like a little mockery of their lives.
Veronica and Thad could have been a little more developped besides the influence their past had on their lives, but at least we get to discover more of them through their dates, and from how Thad steps up to help Veronica when she’s in need. They become more and more fleshed out as the story progresses. To the point that, when they break up, it’s heartbreaking. Don’t worry, there’s a happily ever after.
They have people around them–family, friends and co-workers–but those were more like soundboards than fully formed characters. Only one character has a real influence on the romance, Veronica’s daughter. Her interactions with Thad were beautiful.
Narration was good. There was just enough energy to keep my interest without disrupting the more quiet moments of the story. Emotions were palpable, both the good and the bad. I really enjoyed this cute and sexy romance.

Anything real estate mogul Thad Worthington wants, he gets—except true love. Until one cold night when he meets Veronica Hannigan, a woman with a warm heart. But his would-be princess has no desire to risk her heart for a second chance at a fairy tale, not when she’s already widowed and a single mother.
This is the second book in the series, however it’s easily read on its own. Contemporary romance isn't my go to genre but I read the first book when it was first released & have been impatiently awaiting this book & it didn’t disappoint. Wonderful characters & a story that flowed effortlessly kept me awake until nearly 3am to finish it. I loved both Thad & Veronica & how their relationship developed from instant attraction to deeply in love. Thad is very much the playboy, a love ’em & leave ‘em guy but from the start Veronica is different. Veronica is the widow who is happy with her life until Thad arrives on the scene. I loved Lyra & how she wormed her way into Thad’s heart. I was taken on a gamut of emotions from laughing at a child's party to tears streaming down my face at the wonderful proposal. I’m now impatiently awaiting Angelo's story
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Fantastic Fairytale!
I absolutely loved this story. Charming, heartbreaking and romantic, this story has it all. Cinderella meets her Prince Charming. Strong and loving characters, you’ll simply fall in love with Lyra.
I loved how their relationship was not rushed and progressed easily with dating and family time.
The narration was moving and full of emotion. Both narrators performed brilliantly and I was brought to tears. Well done everyone! This is book 2 and can be read as a standalone with an HEA.
I highly recommend this book.

I was surprised by how much I liked this. I was given an ARC by the author. I think I read Legally Charming, but I don’t remember it well so I’m going to read it again because I liked this so much. Part two of a three-part series, of which it is unnecessary to read more than one, this book focuses on Thad and Veronica, and Lyra, her four-year-old daughter. Having one of the protagonists be a widowed mother of a young child added a dimension to the book that would not have been there if it were just Thad and Veronica. You’re now dealing with the emotions of three characters instead of just two, and there’s something (for me anyway) about a child that makes it more potentially heartbreaking.
One Of the first descriptions of Thad was amusing and painted the perfect visual. His name, Thad Worthington, made him sound “like the hot jerk a girl would crush on at an elite boarding school in some cheesy coming of age rom-com.” No doubt, this shows my age, but I immediately thought of James Spader in one of the many movies in which he played just that character.
There were some fun and lighthearted moments, like the revelation about Angelo’s uncle, which made me burst out laughing (but I won’t spoil the surprise). I loved that Lyra asked Alexa for a new dad and when she met Thad she thought he was saying “dad.” Having only just met her, Thad volunteered to take her to a birthday party at one of those places that have ball pits and tunnels and slides and video games and all kinds of crazy things to keep kids busy. The author described it as the “toddler version of Mad Max.” Not surprisingly, Thad was a bit overwhelmed. When the father of another toddler handed him some aspirin to prevent the inevitable pain this day would bring, his response was, “What’s next on the agenda? Chasing them through a fire swamp?”
The predictable and inescapable conflict that Thad and Veronica would face wass clear from chapter one. I felt Veronica’s reaction was a bit extreme, but I’ve never been one to keep my mouth shut when I have questions about someone’s motivations. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt and it bothered me that she didn’t. I was aggravated by Veronica’s initial actions, so when she explained her thinking it made a lot more sense. However, I stil had trouble believing Annette Becker would have gloated about “the deal” before the paperwork was complete. Also, who closes a coffee shop on a Sunday?
I think Thad’s proposal to Veronica contains some of the most poetic words I’ve ever seen strung together for a proposal: “You are my everything. Even when I die, I will find a way to be with you again, my atoms drifting until they find yours, until we live in the petals of flowers, on the wings of hummingbirds, in the shining droplets of light within the largest rainbows, or the quiet space between sunbeams. Whenever new lives are made from you and me, they will not be able to take just one but the pair.” Personally, I cannot imagine a man saying these words for a proposal (maybe wedding vows), but this is a fairytale so why not have a fantastical proposal? Everything in this story is fairytale perfection and fulfills every little girl’s fantasy of what love should be. It’s a great escape from real life and I loved it.

*Audiobook Review*
Lauren Smith´s Tempting Prince Charming is a sweet heartwarming story with Cinderella-like elements, full of swoony goodness that tugged on my heart. It is the perfect fairytale with magical moments all the way through the end.
There is an easy flow to this story, and I loved the dynamic between the two main characters and how their relationship developed. I was enchanted by their sweet n sexy pull and their slow build-up until they gave into their spark of passion. I would say that Thad, a rich real estate playboy turned prince charming, stole my heart with his kindness and generosity, but it was sweet, adorable Lyra who captured it. And you cannot but admire Veronica, who is a superwoman in her own right having experienced her fair share of heartbreak in the past, caring for her little girl, trying to stay afloat with running her own coffee shop and handling a step-mom who is out to make her life even more difficult. There certainly are emotional moments that get the waterworks going as it is such a heartfelt story and you can´t but adore this trio.
LOVED loved loved the performances of Stella Hunter and Blake Lockheart, nicely done.
Every time I hear Stella Hunter narrate, I fall in love with her voice even more. I normally listen to her in Duet style, so her male voice totally blew me away, tingles all over.
Blake Lockheart is new to me and I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoy the tone of his voice and his kid voice just made my heart melt. Can´t wait to hear more of him in Romancelandia.

Thad is a perfect Prince Charming, and this charming real estate mogul certainly has a romantic streak! Veronica has experienced more than her fair share of heartbreak, and she is hesitant to trust and risk her heart again.
These two characters are fantastic together, and Veronica’s 4 year old daughter Lyra is adorable. When she tries to place a special order using Alexa - oh my! Reading how Thad is first shocked to find this little one and how he makes such an effort to learn what he needs to learn to take care of her and protect her made my heart melt and my ovaries explode. One of my favorite scenes is when Thad takes Lyra to her friends birthday party. Sigh, what a hero.
My only frustration with the book is when Veronica sees something and she jumps to a conclusion and makes a major decision without any discussion with Thad or gave him a chance to explain. This seems to be a common theme in romance anymore - a big dramatic breakup that comes out of nowhere. In my opinion her reaction was over the top extreme, but I absolutely loved how the author brought Thad and Veronica back together though.
This was the first book I’ve read by this author and I will definitely read more by her in the future. I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Received this book as ARC for an honest review.
So I'll admit this took me longer than usual to read. However when I got into it, I couldn't put it down. This story was so good. A strong independent single mother dealing with her grief and a wealthy playboy who has given up on love. Though the concept is pretty much the same as other romance books, this one was a touch different. With a hint of fairytale.
I loved everything about this story, from the gentle push from friends, the beautiful little girl caught in the middle, Lyra. Thad and Veronica overcame a lot to be together.
I love that there wasn't the typical ex that tried to come between them, it was just normal insecurities.
There were so many Disney references that I really hope that Disney got some credit for this book. That didn't deter me from reading it though. I loved the details of Cinderella's castle and I was really hoping to find some pictures of the suite online.
The author gave good details of locations and styles of clothing. The angst was so real, I felt it. The only thing I was hoping for was a final F.U. to the evil step witch.. she needed to get something shoved in her face.
Thad's friends were amazing.. I can't wait to read their stories. I also hope that Zelda gets a story as well.

Fair warning you will need tissues if you read this book. I was not fully prepared for what I read. The words in this story enchanted me and just about broke me. So lets meet Thad who is a wealthy businessman. He is just living life but not taking the time to enjoy. Is it because he has no one to share it with or he just wants to be alone. Then we have Veronica who did have wealth and now not. She has a tragic past however has light at the end of the tunnel that is her daughter Lyra. She is has rose from many ugly situations and still she lives her life. Not to the fullest due to her past but lives none the less. So when these two meet there is a spark and when a kiss is shared the fire it lit. Can they keep the fire going? It is a slow build up of the story but it is needed. We learn about each of them on a soulful level. So when I got to the end, I was in tears. My family thought I was crazy because I kept reading til I got to the end. If you want a book that will render you almost speechless, then you need to read this.

Been waiting for Thad's story since I finished book one of the series a while ago. It was worth the wait!
Thad's a good guy; he's just distracted. Distracted by the work he loves, the women he beds, and the money he spends. It's enough for him and he coasts along until he meets cafe owner Veronica . . . and her daughter, Lyra. Her life is like swimming upstream -- she can't coast, even for a second.
Loved the way the Cinderella elements were interpreted for a modern story. Loved how flummoxed but patient Thad was with the little girl. Loved the literary and pop culture references. Loved the supporting characters, such as Thad's parents, Veronica's employees, and their respective circles of friends. Each one added to the story without being obtrusive.
4.5 stars, but only because I wanted a more dramatic conclusion to the Annette subplot.

Loved it. I have been waiting for the 2nd book in this series for over 2 years. Lauren did not disappoint. Veronica's husband dies in an accident when she is 8 months pregnant with their baby. Flash forward 4 years she is trying to keep it together running her own business on the 1st floor of the home she grew up in and her bitch of a step mom is trying to sell it just because she can even though all the proceeds go to Veronica when she turns 30, only that is 6 years away. Thad is a millionaire real estate investor and one night on his way home from work comes across Veronica's brownstone and decides he wants to buy it for himself. All before he meets and falls in love with Veronica. He tries to back out of the deal but bitch step mom tries to sell it to someone else so Thad does what he has to do to protect Veronica and her daughter. But will Veronica see it that way?

I really enjoyed this beautiful love story .A romance that was unlikely yet flowed throughout every page .
The characters were totally believable.
A young widowed woman with a child scraping a living and a powerful rich handsome and charming man who could buy anything except love .
Neither expected what they were to find in each other’s company but can it work out for them could they be a family .
There are trials to overcome , passion , and love oh and a little bundle of joy her daughter 🙂
A must read …….lovely

Terrific!
Veronica, a young widow with a 4 year old daughter, runs a coffee shop that Thad decides to enter because it is housed in a beautiful old brownstone residence. Jared meets him there and makes a bet about dating Veronica. This is the start of a truly delightful, sweet romance. Both are wary, have been hurt, and are afraid to trust in love again! Lyra, 4 years old, wants a Dad and repeatedly asks Alexa to bring her one from Amazon! Enjoy every page!

A modern take to the Cinderella trope. Thad is a real state mogul, a player, and used to getting what he wants. Veronica is a widow with a dynamo of a daughter, an evil step-mom, and the owner of a coffee shop.
This is a cute slow-burn read with no major drama besides the one needed for the trope I guess.
I'm voluntarily reviewing this after receiving a copy from Hidden Arcs.

I loved the story and characters so much. Great slow burn and super sweet and sexy. You can't help but love every single character, well except for Veronica's stepmother.
Stella Hunter was absolutely outstanding in this book! Blake Lockheart, who is new to me, has definitely proven himself to be book boyfriend worthy!

This was a super sweet read. I enjoyed it very much. I totally lost my heart to little Lyra. I haven’t read Jared’s book yet so I’m definitely going to be checking it out. Can’t wait for Angelo’s book.

Very Nice.
This was another very sweet romantic story. Loved the mother and daughter. It’s so nice to read a lovely romance that makes you feel good. This author writes well, but needs better proofreading. Several errors.

Loved the book
When Thad meet Veronica he was intrigued! When Jared and Thad made a bet he was all in. The way these stories are wrote are quite fun. They unfold as the emotions and characters unfold and you see into the relationship.

I really liked the concept and the characters, but knowing how it was all going to fall apart from the start just broke my heart. I was still unprepared when it did, and how much it devasted everyone involved. That moment to solidify their HEA though, that was pure perfection <3

I have been waiting for Thad’s books since I have read the first book. I will say the wait was worth it. I love this modern take story. The characters are great and their chemistry is amazing.

I was thoroughly charmed and loved the little girl❤️

Sweet but also just a tad cheesy (particularly near the end). Perfect for those who like their romance to feel like a modern-day fairy tale.
January 20, 2021
A modern version of Cinderella, but definitely not a bedtime story for kids.
Thad has it all, money, charm and looks that will get him anything he wants (and a few things he doesn’t) 😉 a head for business and a body that looks in a suit.
But sometimes he just wants to lose himself, be just an average Joe. And singing is his one escape, that and playing his guitar. But he only plays for himself......
Veronica loves her little coffee shop, it’s her rock in a stormy sea of grief. It helped her find her feet after she lost her husband and Lyra’s father (Lyra is her daughter) Parker. But it hurts to think of him, but tonight after a customer of the coffee shop sang in their open mic night, it brought the hurt to the surface, love is not an option for her, it hurts too damn much!!
I loved this story, it was a simple story, but beautifully written. I’ve read a few of Lauren’s books and I’ve never been disappointed.
Thad sees something in Veronica that he’s not seen before, an honesty and vulnerability that makes me want to discover more.
I did have to chuckle at the description of Thad, all I could see was Chris Hemsworth (in his Thor costume😂) but the visual only enhanced my enjoyment of this book. Veronica made my heart ache, a widow dealing with loss, a young daughter and a job. Her determination to keep Thad at arms length made sense, but everyone needs a little love.
The secondary characters were great, Zelda who worked in the coffee shop had a wicked sense of humour. Thad’s friend Jared was just great. And Lyra was just so cute, asking Alexa for a daddy.
A man finding a love that he didn’t ever think he would find, someone that would like him as he is and not for the money he has!! But convincing Veronica is not going to be easy. He understands about loss, but he wants to love her like she deserves.
A woman who can’t bear the thought of losing someone she lives ever again. It’s better to keep your heart hidden, not out in the open where it can get smashed!
But we have a fly in the ointment....
Veronica’s stepmother, she wants both her stepdaughter and Lyra out of the house/coffee shop, she’s going up sell it from under Veronica.
They have never got on, she is the quintessential wicked stepmother!!
And when Veronica finds out who the buyer is.....
This was the second book in the series, but you don’t need to read the first one. This stands on its glass slipper with no help whatsoever.
And one final word...... I WANT TO GO TO DISNEY 💜
