What I love about this author is the fact that she delivers what her title promises. You want a faerie tale and you get a Faerie Tale. Do you wish to recapture that feeling you had when you were little and first read a fairy tale? Then, I unreservedly recommend this author and her series. Of course it's a bit more adult than the ones we used to read but she captures that magical essence down to the core. I loved revisiting the world Genevra Thorne built and I loved meeting the new additions to the family from her first book. I am enchanted once again.
This book centers on Lord Ashton of Aethyria. Being born a half Daoine Sidhe faerie comes with it's own perils as Ashton's personal magic is considered more of curse than a gift. He can seduce, beguile and entrance women with a single unwitting smile. They all fall at his feet whether he wants them to or not. They lose all reason and see nothing beyond his face. And while he was young he may have taken advantage of it, now he knows how empty it truly feels. He tries to control it but no matter what he does the power seeps from his very pores.

A chance encounter with Eden gives him hope that the woman who can see his true self exists and he will do anything for the opportunity to win her heart. So he decides to visit her in the cover of darkness so she cannot see his face and therefore wont fall under his enchantments.
Eden wears her scars for all to see as one side of her body is covered in burns she suffered from as a child. She cannot believe that someone could want her simply for her self. Ashton's visits are a mystery to her but with each one she falls more and more for him. His treatment of her and his refusal to show her his face convinces her that he must be as disfigured as she is.
Of course Ash's omissions and his efforts to hide his face eventually backfire and things come to a head. Friends and family come to play as Ashton desperately tries to win her heart and Eden struggles to accept that she has value and can be loved despite her scars.
“We are the same. We’ve let our flesh shape our thoughts. I never thought I could have a life like theirs.” He turned slightly toward the window and the folks both human and faerie outside, then returned his attention to her. “Have you?”
“Nay,” she answered softly. “Never.” He understood her. He knew she lived a lonely life, like his.
He took her hands in his and stood to his feet. “We were wrong,” he whispered across her knuckles and then kissed them.
I really hope Genevra Thorne writes Teleri's book because I would love to read her story. Looking forward to many more books from this author.

A pure fairy tale, much more magical than the previous book.
While reading it, I kept hearing a greandmother-type of voice telling me the tale!
The story is beautiful: how can a man with a glamour that makes all the woman who come in contact with him fall crazily in love, be sure that a woman loves him? And how can a disfigured woman be sure that the most wanted and beautiful man loves her?
What they're ready to do, overcome to be tegether?
Read this book and you'll find out! It's sweet and tender and endearing, basides being passionate!

Terrific sequel
Genevra Thorne's follow up to "The Enchanted" was suffused with the same kind of potent love story as demonstrated in the first, very excellent book in this fairytale series. There is a lot of originality in this fantasy world, where enchantment and fairies can have a very dark side. This world is not without pain and suffering. I liked book one a smidge better, but this was very worth reading and I will definitely pick up the next book. I would write a lengthier review since this story merits better, but alas, my computer is in the repair shop and I hate typing a treatise with my thumbs.

The was the second novel in the Faerie Tale Series. The last time we heard from Ashton, he was a wee little toddler. Oh my did he grow up! Lord Ashton was as yummy as you can get! His curse is so sad, The story between Ashton and Eden was indeed beautifully written. It was nice to know how the characters from the first book are doing too, but most importantly is the authors message, your beauty on the inside is what makes you beautiful. I felt the hurt and emotions of the two characters which brought me to tears. I need the next one, which I'm hoping will be about his tuff little sister Teleri.

It is one of the few books I've read that I would describe as overwhelmingly brilliant. The story between Ashton and Eden was indeed beautiful written. I love the second characters and sparks between Shara and Cadoc. I cried when finished it. I need more of them.

An amazing sequel to an amazing book. At first I thought maybe the sequel would be about Rhys even but I was shocked in a way to know it was about the kids. I loved Ash’s story. Not only was it a romance but it also taught us a main lesson where love is not just in beauty of the outer skin but of what’s in the inside. It also taught us in a manner not everything is just what you see but what you feel.
Despite being raved more than the first book for me the romance in the second book did not actually surpass that of the first. For me Gabriel and Taryn will continue being my favorite couple with Shara and Cadoc actually coming in second. I am glad that the cousins managed to reconcile. Also seeing the whole family was indeed a nice change. Although I am sad that no more book have been written after this and will be patiently be waiting for the third book in the series.

*sigh* I didn't think it was possible but this sequel is even better than the first book. Even more magic, more poetic descriptions, more love and much more emotional moments. I hope there will be many more sequels where I could plunge deeply into this beautiful world full of magic again.

A wonderful faery tale
It was brilliant! I loved it even more than The Enchanted Book 1. But then it has all my favorite characters plus the irresistible grown up Ash with all his glory and heartbreak. Genevra Thorne has outdone herself! She describes the scenes with such poetic script that I found myself immersed into the story. I could see the maiden falling, the castle, the forests, the enchanted faery lands and forests, and the fluttering wings of enchanted creatures. I could not put it down, I lost sleep until I finished, then could not sleep just feeling the bliss of a wonderful love story. I am hoping for a third book of the story of Ash's sister Teleri!!

There are stories that grab you, hit you like a sledge hammer and hold you with an emotional power; there are stories that fire your imagination and flood you with adrenaline and there are stories that caress, seduce and entice, enveloping you with gossamer – like tendrils that you have no power or will to escape. The Beloved definitely belongs to a last category. Decadently rich and intricate in language, imagery, world building and characterization it is lyrical and spellbinding, a fairy tale in the purest form. An absolute delight.

This book is everything a pnr should be.
Imagine being able to bring anyone of the opposite sex to their knees with only a wink or a smile. My first order of business would be to track down Channing Tatum, then Alex Pettyfer, then.. yeah, well you get the gist. To those around him, Ashton son of the half-faerie Prince Gabriel, is either envied our scorned. Some wish they had his abilities, while others, even members of his own family, are weary that he will take their women from them.
Thanks to his mother he is part Daoine Sidhe with the power of allure- it's the magic imbued in him to attract females. Daoine Sidhe of pure blood spend their lives in pursuit of pleasure, and are unable to fall in love- and honestly could care less. Ashton is different, he not only possesses human blood as well as faerie, but craves for someone to care for him as a person not just because they are beguiled by his beauty and allure. He's completely tired of the revolving door that is his bedroom, yet has no idea how to find someone to love since as soon as they see his face they will care for nothing else.
Amidst these thoughts one night outside a brothel waiting for his cousin, he glimpses an angel falling to the cliffs below. Ashton manages to rescue her, and for a brief few seconds when this woman looks at him, he knows she's seeing his heart. For once he sees a heart that isn't projecting needs of the flesh, but the loneliness, solitude, and wish to be loved by another with whom she can have a family- all of that is echoed in his own.
Unfortunately this is temporary as she too begins to fall under his beauty's spell. Ashton can't bear for her to be just another woman in his thrall, and manages to hide his identity so that he may be able to get to know her in secret- hidden in the shadows of the night. The lady, Eden, knows all too well what it is like living with people who cannot look past her appearance- she was greatly scarred in a house fire. While getting to know someone under the cover of completely unorthodox, she is open to this man she figures bears scars much like her own. This is their story, and I won't ruin the rest.
This book is really high up on my favorites list. The characters, the world building, and the twists and turns were all executed flawlessly. I feel like I would have gotten just a tiny bit more from the book if I had read the first in the series, but this is perfectly fine as a standalone. The only minor issue I had was the book opens with him being intimate with another women (before he met the h). It's a pet peeve of mine. I wouldn't have minded if it was them talking after they were done, but I never like seeing either main character in the act with anyone else. I must note that this was a minor interaction in the scheme of things, and not something that should make you avoid the book. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

In the first book we learned of how Gabriel was enchanted by a Daoine Sidhe faerie, in this book we get to read about his son, Ashton, who is part Daoine Sidhe. If you don't know what a Daoine Sidhe is, it's a faerie that harbors the glamour of bringing you to your knees with just a smile or a simple look. This may be thought of as a blessing for some, but for Ashton it is very much a curse. His glamour drives away his family and most of his friends because his curse gets the ladies, and I imagine some men, to be lured his way. Ashton is beginning to lose hope of ever finding true happiness when he stumbles upon Eden. Eden harbors her own curse, hers is both the same and opposite of Ashton's in a lot of ways....
Anyways, as Ashton spends time with Eden a connection grows. But their time spent is not as you would expect, Eden never sees Ashton. Can a Daoine Sidhe really find love? Is it even possible for someone to reject Ashton's glamour?
I really loved these characters! Ashton is definitely not what I first expected. You really can't judge someone by their looks! I did also like Eden, though I did find myself a tiny bit frustrated with her. And I looooovvveedddd Shara!! She's such a little spitfire of a sprite! She has one mighty attitude for someone so tiny!

I really loved these characters! Ashton is definitely not what I first expected. You really can't judge someone by their looks! I did also like Eden, though I did find myself a tiny bit frustrated with her. And I looooovvveedddd Shara!! She's such a little spitfire of a sprite! She has one mighty attitude for someone so tiny!
This was a really great read! If you loved the first book, this one is just as great, if not better!!

In THE BELOVED two misunderstood, lonely people in Wales in 1254 meet and fall in love against all odds.
Eden is a young woman who has been through her fair share of hardships during her short life. As a child, a house fire claimed the lives of her entire family and left her with horrible burns covering half her body. To make a living, Eden has had to turn to prostitution as a last resort. THE BELOVED is a quick, delightful read. Eden's struggle for self-worth is so relatable, making this historical fantasy easily believable. Ash's struggle for self-worth was a little more difficult for me to relate to. He's so beautiful (helped by his allure) that all the women want him and all the men are jealous of him. Yeah, I don't have that problem.
As I kept reading, Ash did become more relatable. The mistakes he made in the past have colored his family's opinion of him. Now that he is ready to move on, make better decisions, and find companionship, his family is skeptical of his motives and question if it's even possible for him to fall in love. Ash is dealing with what he perceives as his family's disappointment in him. Now THAT is relatable.
I became more empathetic to Ash's situation as the book progressed. At first I thought he was a whiny, malcontent rich guy who doesn't know the meaning of real hardship. His interactions with his family proved my first impression wrong.
THE BELOVED is the second of a new historical fantasy series. Many of the characters from book one are featured in THE BELOVED. My favorite character from book one, Elusen, has a small part in this book. But wow, has Elusen's life changed since book one! I would love to get more details about Elusen's story in future books in the series. His character is just too likable, I have to know the details!
Another character from book one, Shara, also features in THE BELOVED. Shara has a much bigger part in book two than she does in book one. She is still feisty, too! I think good things are in store for Shara and I hope book three sheds some light on her story.
Anyway, I highly recommend this series. THE BELOVED is thoroughly entertaining with a fantastic cast of characters. I look forward to reading more from this author!

3,5 stars. It wasn’t perfect story, but still a beautiful beauty-and-the-beast retelling.
This is the second book I’ve read by Miss Genevra Thorne, and the second book in this series. And for those of you who don’t know, Miss Thorne is also Miss Paula Quinn, author of some of my favorite Highlander romances. The first book in this series, I didn’t particularly like. This one I did. The two books are connected, the hero in this book is the son of the hero in the first book, some of the characters appear in both books, but I think this one stands quite well on his own and will even go so far as saying: if in doubt, start with this one.
The beauty in the story for me was the hero. Ash stole my heart, and without me having seen him, it can’t have been his glamour enchanting me. His unimaginable beauty, called glamour, causes him all kinds of trouble everywhere he meets other people, so he has chosen to live alone deep in the forest, with his only company: a tiny little spitfire of a fairy Shara. (So, to all readers: be glad we all suffer from some (real or imagined) imperfection, because it’s no fun when there is none.) On one of his rare trips into civilization, he catches a damsel when she falls (or jumped) off a rock, looks into her eyes, and knows she is The One (it’s a fairy-tale, so go with it). Meet cute for the heroine, Eden, who doesn’t have any perfect beauty left (she was severely burned at one time in her past) and works as a whore in the local brothel. The hero arranges to meet the heroine a couple of nights without her seeing him (dark, no candles), they talk, touch, kiss and yes… you know where this leads.
The beauty in this plot - in its core a retelling of the beauty and the beast - is that it’s mostly internal demons that are being fought. Ash wants to get rid of his glamour (which could be handled as an external demon) but the focus is more internal on the effects the glamour has on his life, the loneliness it caused and how he chose to handle it. The writing style has the Old Romance flowery feel to it as the first book. I found the style to be better used than in book #1, or maybe I just got used to it. So if you’re used to fast-paced contemporaries, it might take some getting used to.
The imperfection of this story was that at about 70% I felt like it was done. The last part was a collection of external circumstances keeping them apart which I couldn’t really care about one way or another. What kept me reading though, was the secondary love story, focusing on the lovable little spitfire fairy Shara and her nemesis, human sized Cadoc. I usually don’t like romances that don’t focus on the main H/h throughout, but in this case, well, I loved Shara, could have read an entire book with Shara as heroine and wanted her to have her HEA. So I was happy she got hers and although it could have been done better (couldn’t someone have asked Shara what she wanted beforehand) it was sweet anyway.
Thank you editor for granting me the ARC’s for book 1 and 2 simultaneously, for otherwise I don’t think I would have read this second book, and would have always thought blah-thoughts about the faerie-tales by Miss Quinn’s alter ego. So if you’re curious: start with this one. You can always go back to book 1 later… and you might even understand book 1 better too.

Apparently this is Book Two in an ongoing Faerie Tale Series by Genevra Thorne. THE BELOVED is an enchanting stand-alone faerie tale with characters that appeared in the first story, though it’s not necessary to have read the first book in order to thoroughly enjoy the second. I can attest to that, as I have not read the first (though if it’s anything like the second, I’m sure it’s a wonderful read and would add enjoyment to one’s appreciation of the characters and their world).
I was delightfully surprised by how well written and charming this Young Adult faerie tale turned out to be. It was metaphorically themed after the traditional Beauty and the Beast tale. The author has a keen sense of mood and tone and her use of language ranges from light-hearted and witty to intense and gripping. She carries the reader with her on a fanciful journey through a world within a world, peopled with many different types of faeries.
The hero of this book is Ashton. Ash is the offspring of a half-human, half-Tylwyth Teg father and a Daoine Sidhe mother. The Daoine Sidhe faeries have "allure" glamour. Unfortunately they are also unable to fall in love. It makes him virtually irresistible to women, but also leaves him feeling unfulfilled and lonely and makes him a lot of enemies, especially male enemies when wives and girlfriends fall for his charms, whether he wants them to or not. He does have one very good friend, however, and I would love to learn more about her. As a toddler he was abandoned by his enchantress mother and was raised by Shara, a tiny faerie who becomes his protector.
The heroine is Eden, who works in a bordello in order to survive because she is a beautiful human who has been horribly disfigured in a fire and much of her body bears terrible scars, though they are of course much more damaging on the inside. And this is where the Beauty and the Beast analogy takes place.
Eden falls into Ash’s arms, literally, and he is smitten, but he refuses to let her see him and fall under his spell. He wants her to love him for his own sake. Can he really be in love? Can his human side overcome his faerie side’s inability to love? And will she be able to forgive him once she discovers his duplicity?
There’s the difficulty and when you add to that problem the fact that he uses forbidden spells to keep her in the “dark,” and her own low self-esteem issues won’t allow her to believe he could love her for her “beauty” you have all sorts of problems and angst to sort through--the stuff young adult lives are made of. Let’s hear it for young love and great young adult romance novels. Thorne has a winner on her hands with this one. At last, something different this way comes in a fast, fun read! Move over Ella Enchanted!

This second book in the Faerie Tale series is much more of a fantasy tale, with only the faintest feeling of its historical (or geographical) setting. Which isn’t a bad thing, not least because every time I read about those heather fields I get an eye twitch, while the references to Erie just made me sigh. But if you can ignore the fact that this Welsh set fantasy doesn’t feel very Welsh at all, then there’s plenty to enjoy in this romance of terrible beauty, painful scars and lonely outsiders.
Ashton is beautiful, but more than that he is powerful, and his power is allure, attracting women to him with no effort and telling him exactly what to do to please them most. It’s also a power he has very little, and sometimes no, control over. Although, to be honest, at the beginning he doesn’t seem to be trying very hard. Mostly he’s lost in a woe-is-me stage about how terrible and awful it is to be beautiful and desired and never loved, when he isn’t even sure if he can love anyway, because he has very big mummy issues.
Eden, by contrast, is not beautiful. Or at least she doesn’t think she is, because of the burn scars that cover half of her body. She’s not your average heroine, given her background, and she finds it very hard to trust what Ash claims to feel for her, but she’s stronger than she thinks she is and is a very good match for him.
Even though Ash hides himself from Eden at the start, I did like how slowly he takes getting to know her. It gives both of them a chance to grow and develop into stronger characters and it’s all pretty sweet. Not that this stage lasts, of course, because there are other things to be resolved, not least their joint feelings of isolation and loneliness and the overwhelming power of Ash’s allure.
It’s a grand, sweeping romance with magic and faeries and family trouble and a bit of heartache, and I found it an easy enjoyable read. It didn’t draw me in quite as much as I had hoped, though, and I’m not entirely sure why. I liked both Eden and Ash, though at times they both verged on whiny for me, and I liked a lot of the secondary characters – though Ash’s sister needs to control her own magic, because it’s pretty invasive. I loved getting to see Shara again, and really enjoyed her part in the story.
In all this is an enjoyable fantasy romance about inner beauty and true love winning over lust. It can be read as a standalone, but you’ll understand more of what Ash is up against if you’ve read The Enchanted first.

A Faerie Tale: The Beloved (A Faerie Tale Series Book 2) by Genevra Thorne.
Life has moved on from Gabriel and Taryn's romance in Book 1 The Enchanted and their children have now grown up. The three-year-old Ashton we previously met has now grown into a handsome adult man and has been endowed with the glamour of allure, just like his mother had. So what will she do when finally confronted with his glamour? Will she succumb to it, or will she overcome it?And even if she can, will she still want him after she finds out about the Faerie World?

This magical, mystical tale is one of the best I've read in this genre. I had not previously read any other book by this author and was pleasantly surprised. The characters are well developed and the storyline is well thought out and written. It is more of a faerie tale than a historical one although the setting is of a historical nature.
I'm not sure what to expect of other books in this series, though, so I will reserve to comment on if this book is of a standalone nature.
I liked this read but did not love it. I would give it a 3.75 star rating if I could give fractional ratings.

One night as Ash was bringing his cousin to the brothel for his first experience with a woman, he noticed something on the roof. Eden was getting ready to throw herself off to end it all when Ashton caught her. From then on he was seduced by her inner beauty and was ruined for all other woman. Hiding in the shadows when they met for their nightly visit, Ash refused to let her see his face. He didn't want her to treat him as all other woman had, like a piece of meat. He wanted her love him, so by keeping his face from her she could do what no other woman could, know his heart.
This was a beautiful fairy tale. Of love, of pain, of inner strength and beauty. Don't ever judge a book by its cover. You could miss out on what you've always been looking for.

Wow this was an amazing yet breathtaking book to read: taking you on an enchanted and magical journey. I had high expectations after reading the first book, and this definitely exceeded those expectations.

This is the second tale in Ms. Thorne’s fantasy series. In the first book we met this heroes father, Gabriel who was enchanted by a Daoine Sidhe faerie, who bore him a son. To meet this little boy, you must read book one, and I promise you, reading it, you’ll get to understand Ash much better.
Ashton is only a part Daoine Sidhe, a faerie whose beauty will forever have you belong to him. With a blessing like this, or a curse in our hero’s opinion, he is lonely and his part that is human, is yearning for true love but cynical of ever having it.
The heroine, Eden, is a very complex character and she will melt your heart. The scars she carries are hidden, and she slowly heals as her love for Ash is exposed.
Talk about “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”!
I highly recommend this fast paced, heartwarming and truly touching tale.

When I finished The Enchantment, I could not wait to read more from Genevra Thorne. I fell in love with Ash as a boy and again as a man. His character is so developed and complex, every page turn was like peeling an onion and finding another new layer of Ash. Eden is a perfect match and I love getting to know Eden and how she overcomes her past and can look into the future. Watching these two fall in love blindly is beautiful and wonderfully written. The storyline is enchanting and I devoured it fast and was left wanting more. The bedroom scenes are steamy but not to the point of erotica, it adds to story and characters. I enjoyed the two points of view, you get both perspectives and they flow smoothly together. Genevra Thorne has become one of my favorite authors to read and I can't wait for more.
