This book is beyond boring. It does put me to sleep at night so I will save it for when I need it. I've made it to 25% read and got some good sleep.

This story is slow and a very repetitive throughout. Much of the writing feels unnecessary and whole chapters don’t need to be in it; they don’t move the story along in any way. It seems like a lot of the book is about the author’s views such as on people’s obsessions with smartphones, fame and privacy for example. Some of his thoughts are interesting, but they don’t come across as the character’s ideas but as the author’s ideas and can sometimes feel a bit preachy and moaning. It does however, make you think about people who do certain jobs like authors that perhaps don’t want to be famous but are because of what they do. Although unfortunately, I kept feeling throughout though, who cares? Would anything really happen if people found out the main character was an author? The main character also comes across as quite rude at times e.g. ‘Andrea was almost a background person’ and his views stop him from enjoying life. The story does get better as it progresses, but for me, needs a lot of work done to make it more exciting.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author via Voracious Readers Only, thank you, and all thoughts are my own.

Interesting premise

I quite liked the idea of this. I'm a novelist too, and while I don't hide it, I have no interest in being famous.
However, I couldn't connect with the main character although I agree with him on many topics. He was just not likeable and went around thinking he was superior to everyone else. What bothered me most was the lecturing tone. I don't want a lecture when I'm reading a novel!
