My Husband is Suffering from a Terminal Illness

Rate this book
Xie Yang has spent many years in the apocalypse and is tired and worn out. Then he transmigrated into a simple and superficial novel about the entertainment circle.

The protagonist of the novel was handsome, smart, and reborn. The female protagonist of the novel was beautiful, inspirational, and had a golden finger. Some male and female roles were also beautiful and had a deep background. If he casually transmigrated into one of them then he could close his eyes and enjoy himself. However, he didn’t transmigrate into any of them and instead became the hidden husband of the biggest villain in the novel, the male protagonist’s uncle.

He was called a husband but it was more similar to a babysitter. This was because the biggest villain in the novel was a terminally ill patient with a terrible personality and a sick brain (really sick). They got married for the sake of happiness.

Xie Yang: It doesn’t matter if you are the male lead, the female lead or the villain, whoever dares to stop me from living a comfortable life will die.

4/5 🌟

This has a typical transmigration plot, having the entertainment industry as the focus rather than the transmigration itself. There are many face-slapping moments that I always love, especially in a showbiz setting. But what I loved the most about this danmei is the MC and ML themselves.

A sickly, thin-skinned, adorable tsundere ML with a sharp mouth but soft heart and a clever, cunning and talented MC who can outwit and outplay those who provoke him and knows how to handle his tsundere husband. They might have a clashing personality at first glance, but they complete each other pretty well. No one else can deal with them but each other.

Their relationship growing from a forced marriage to 'landlord and tenant' relationship agreement and slowly but smoothly creeping up to a more intimate and romantic relationship. The transition of their relationship is so subtle and smooth that it feels so natural. Their hilarious banter from the very start is what hooked me so much. And I loved the fact that even if other people misunderstood ML's tsundere nature because of his poisonous tongue and the permanent scowl on his face, MC can still see through the surface very early on. The way he always provoke the ML into blushing by stripping him out of his hard exterior and manipulate him into speaking his real thought. It also warms me that both of them will do literally ANYTHING for each other and has an equal dedication and love. I swear, they have so much chemistry that I don't mind seeing their interactions more even after the plot ended.

Even though I loved the characters more, this also has a real plot other than just purely face-slapping. Reading this felt like I was watching a celebrity drama while eating popcorn. Highly recommend this to all modern danmei readers!

Is this story ridiculous? Absolutely. Are our MC, Xie Yang, and our ML, Qui Xing too good to be true? Most definitely. Did this diminish my enjoyment of reading this book? Not at all. Was it a bit long in the end? Yes, the plot dragged a bit at times, but I was thoroughly hooked by all the drama. Have you ever watched a Mexican soap opera or a Bollywood family drama? This book was similar just transferred into a modern Chinese danmei. There was even some slapping and people turning absolutely crazy in public. I needed something light and funny and this story delivered.

Gosh this webnovel. If anyone thinking if you should read it or not, don’t. Don’t think and START reading. It worth all sleep I missed.

In term of plot, the author truly excel in it. Every little details were written very well. Kudos. And the character? Very much well developed. Two tsundere people together creating a good dog food for us. So into their love-hate relationship ㅋㅋㅋ

The ML? He’s so dear and a coward mouse 🐭 Luckily the MC is clever enough to push him forward. And the cleverness of MC don’t just stop there. He use that brilliant brain to scheme left and right. Wow is the definitely the word to describe his plans.

(Up till 170 mtl-ed. Should be another 4 extras)

Its a 4.5 for me but im giving it a 5 because its actually one of my favourite BL novels yet.
Unlike usual BL novels (some of which i can admit that i do still like) where the main couples relationship is just really laden with unessesary drama and really uncomfortable consent issues this one just steps around all of that and gives you a really nice relationship where i was happy read the next chapter because i didnt have to worry about what the ML would do and then be forgiven for because the MC is "in love" and "fondly" thinks 'i should do something about this' but then gives up because of... Reasons.
Anyway great story, despite the initial meeting between our MC and ML that would be a setup for a relationship where there is an imbalance of power and the ML would use that to force a relationship (as is usual in most romances in this setup, not just BL) but our ML this time is an actual good human being, also MC is not a pushover either so these two things coupled with good communication is what i would say make up a good romance that i dont feel like i have to brace myself to read the next chapter for 💖💖

4.5 because i love it but i need more (personal bias)

If you made it here and you're still hesitant about trying it then i would personally reccomend it to you

(always remember, if you don't like the story you're reading then you are allowed to stop)

No regret losing sleep because I was binging this novel. It has that repetitive face slapping scenes that we usually see in Chinese translated webnovels but this one never overdid it. Also, I love how the main character and male lead’s love progressed in this novel. They really went through a lot. I’m glad that they were given the happy ending they deserve.

This may not make it to my favorite list but it’s definitely one of the remarkable Chinese webnovels I’ve read. ❤️

loved the CP but the story line isn't really my favorite (i just didn't care about the entertainment circle, specially since it was just abt back stabbing and not the professional side of things).
most side characters are discarded pretty quickly and i geT it but also i would've loved to see more interactions btwn them instead of the surface level, super fast ones we got.
the villain is pretty cartoon-ish but honestly we're not there for him anyways. it's a sweet HEA romance and it gave what it was supposed to give.

One of my favourite online c-novels. The tone and balance in it is great - there are lighthearted moments among drama, but there's no complete silliness and both MC and ML are mature adults who don't randomly act like teenagers or people incapable of communicating.

I couldn't classify a genre for this novel as it mashes up quite a few:
* MC has transmigrated from a zombie apocalypse into a 'normal world' of a novel he just finished reading, and unlike most transmigration novels I've read recently he has no system - instead his 'enemy' has a system, and MC only has the healing ability he developed during the apocalypse.
* MC enters the entertainment world and does a minor bit of face slapping, but this is really just a side plot, not the main focus of the novel.
* MC is trying to 'rewrite' the novel to save ML and foil the 'novel's main character/female lead', a woman with a love-exchange system, but there's no rebirth and also a lot of things the novel never mentioned/revealed, so MC is still running pretty blind.
* There's also a strong mystery/thriller component, as people begin targeting MC very pointedly, originally it just seems like trying to ruin his reputation but soon escalates into trying to kill him.

So, a lot of genres XD But it works very well. (Though also makes it incredibly hard to try and find something similar ;A; )

The romance is well developed. MC transmigrates into a person/character who has been 'sold' in marriage to the ML in order for MC's scumbag father/family to earn benefits from the rich, but dying ML. MC and ML have no feelings for each other, but of course romance begins to grow especially with MC trying to save ML from the 'female lead', ML's own scumbag relatives, and ML's own resignation towards his illness/death. This of course leads to the trope of 'first marriage didn't count, wait for me to propose again and we'll have a REAL wedding'.

For the love of God, this was so beautiful 🥲
Yes, the plot was amazing, but can we please talk about the couple?😭 I wasn’t expecting their development and to like it so much. I suffered a lot with Qiu Xing’s illness and that only makes their happy ending more satisfying. That last scene, my god 😭😭😭😭 The contrast was too powerful.

10/10 ⭐✨

Finding hidden gems like this amazing novel is what brings joy to my life! I was mesmerized by this book from the first pages. It's hard to explain without giving many details but this novel was different from the other transmigration and entertainment industries stories I have read about. The balance between the romance and the plot was nearly perfect. There were no loose ends and everything was explained thoroughly at the end. It was mind-blowing and unexpected 🤯!

The title says it all. ML has brain cancer and his health issues are not downplayed so expect sad moments and prepare to cry. Everything goes fine at the end but it still hurts to read.

I was obsessed with their relationship. The slow burn was slow but satisfying, and it burned beautifully at the right time. They were full of sweet words, heartfelt moments, and small actions that left me breathless and with broken standards once again.

My only regret is not having the songs and videos described in the book 😭. I would sell my soul to hear MC singing live...

The plot, the characters and the translation were all top notch. And because it's a transmigration theme, the MC had a capability that helped him along the way. However, it did not render the MC as invalid because he's full of wit. Truthfully, even without his capability, I think he can do just fine. I like that he accepted the fact early on that he's in a different world and that he should appreciated every little things in life. He never saw himself as an outsider looking into other people's life, like other transmigration story. And because of that, his relationship with the ML progressed smoothly.

The translation is now complete and you can find the link at NU.

Another web novel finished. I started reading web novels again. Send help!👐

Anyway, this is the story of Xie Yang & Qiu Xing. Xie Yang was from a post apocalyptic time and then was transmigrated to the novel he recently read.

So in this world, Xie Yang is also named Xie Yang. According to the book he read, he is a cannon fodder who will have a miserable life in the future.

Qiu Xing according to the book is the uncle of the main lead that will die eventually. One reason why I was hesitant to read this web novel is because of the title and the initial knowledge that the ML has a terminal illness. I felt like it will be a sad and heavy book.

This book has a very good plot. No slow parts and there is always something happening. The main setting is the entertainment industry. There are lots of fan comments that made me laugh. I really enjoy books that includes/shows comments of fans on certain gossips, movies or celebrities.

There are lots of intrigues and face slappings happening left and right. Schemes are abundant and our main couple was strong enough to fight back on every turn.

This one has a system theme on it. Since our MC is not the original protagonist of this world, he encountered a lot of problems at the start due to the male and female protagonists.

I enjoyed reading this one and lost a lot of sleep because of this. There are lots of funny moments, angering moments and tear inducing moments in the book. There are also lots of cannon fodders and one dimensional characters here so be warned.

Recommended.🖒❤

This book is defined by its adversity. Coming from an apocalyptic world, it’s all Xie Yang has ever known. Even in this new world he transmigrated into, he is pitted against the main character in order to save the one person that protected him and continuously gave him kindness: Qiu Xing. If not for Xie Yang looking out for him, Mu Zhouyi’s brain control would have exacerbated the brain tumor and killed him.

Everything is against Xie Yang from the very beginning. The main character (Mu Zhouyi) has all the plot armor and love, yet he manages to subtly push her out of the limelight to save this new life he’s cultivated. He’s a very clever and strategic character, and it’s very entertaining to watch him unravel all the plots of those that want to hurt him or Qiu Xing.

Qiu Xing pays back Xie Yang’s loyalty ten-fold. At no point throughout the novel does the reader doubt their connection. Even when Qiu Xing is pulling away because he doesn’t think he has long to live, you know that he’s ultimately doing it for Xie Yang’s emotional wellbeing. It’s a very good story.

Qué bella novela... Realmente he quedado encantada.

Big bro's first finished book of the year. Honestly, it's not worth the read if you want to talk about the story. BUT! The main couple makes up for a lot.

Their dynamic is so fucking hilarious. I was laughing nearly everytime they interacted. Their dynamic is what kept me reading.

The villains, the story, and even the MC are nothing much to talk about.

It got a bit much. I was like wtf a lot of the times. Just how much did the author want me to suspend my disbelief???

Anyway, the only good thing about this book is the MC and ML's dynamic. It's just hilarious and really fun to read.

2/10 and definitely not worth the read.

Yes! This is EXACTLY what a reverse villain transmigration story should be. The main character doesn't just directly replace the protagonist, instead, he highlights all the flaws of the original protagonist's golden finger and easy success. He doesn't try to capture a bunch of love targets, or use people for his own good. Everyone he befriends are just friends; if they help him, it's the kind of help a friend might extend. If they give him excessive help, it's because of their own self interest, not some inexplicable burning love for him.

I like the slow love that develops between the main character and the former villain. They don't magically fall in love with each other, but instead tentatively circle each other, live with each other, come to notice and like each other, and realize that they want more. Their relationship isn't smooth, and just like a relationship in real life, it requires work from them both. The villain learns to express his love openly, and the main character learns that he doesn't have to rely on just himself. They continue to have lives and talents independent of each other. They never become that boring couple that make each other the center of their lives. Rather, they both live in harmony, doing their own thing, creating their own career, but still finding ways to support each other when needed. I love the perfect balance of independence and dependence this couple manages to maintain throughout this book.

The other thing I love about this book is how suspicious it is of something that's too good to be true. It doesn't take the system at face value, apparent friends at their word, or even the transmigration as mere magic. I love how tidily the author ties together the supernatural parts of the story.

The apocalypse world that the main character came from is actually a world that has already been destroyed by an energy-gathering system like the love value system. These systems help people aquire love while they're alive, so they can gather the maximum grief energy when they die. These systems were sent out from a world that sucked up all the energy of its inhabitants in order to survive. Finally, a rogue system infected with another world's consciousness tries to fight back by finding people with abilities to send into worlds infected by the system. By having these people capture and infect the system with their abilities before the system returns to the main world, they are helping to poison the main system, and will hopefully eventually end the energy harvesting.

Of course, I don't think this book is perfect. There is an evil genius villain who I think is not very realistic. He's too much a stereotype of the crazy, genius artist.

The portrayal of survival as a matter of will and medicine was also a bit overly optimistic in my opinion. I think it is very reasonable for a person with terminal cancer, congenital problems, and heart disease to not seek aggressive treatment. The book portrays the villain as a bit of a coward for this decision, but he has a terminal illness, with very low chances of surviving even with treatment. Aggressive treatments will typically make the patient feel horrible. He's giving up a ~1% chance of recovery with treatment in order to use his remaining time to prepare his family for success. Without the main character's ability, undergoing treatments would most likely mean the villain wouldn't be able to work and live normally even for the short remaining time he has. In a book, the main character refusing to plan for the worst and constantly urging the villain to reluctantly undergo treatment is fine. In the real world, this would be considered manipulative and foolhardy. Thank goodness this is a book.

Overall, I loved this story. It's heartwarming and shows characters that grow and find a sweet love against all odds. It teaches us that nothing comes for free, and if you want a happy ending, you should put in the effort.

Review in English and Portuguese (opinião em inglês e português)

[English] 4.5 STARS

Don't mind the title, because it's a happy ending!

I started reading this novel after seeing a list of recommendations with very good reviews ( https://theredoaktree.com/chinesebl/ ) and soon I was enchanted by the story. As soon as I started reading, I felt vibes of One Useless Rebirth, perhaps because both protagonists were reborn and knew the plot or what would happen in general. I went to confirm and actually belonged to the same author (不会下棋 or Can't Play Chess).

I really liked the personality of the MC (Xie Yang). Vengeful, when necessary, cuts evil by the root without leaving seeds, decisive, talented in countless areas and affectionate. I especially like the fact that even though some people have tried to do something bad to him, he ends up making them his allies.

The author's writing is very detailed, but not in a dull way. I realized, more than once, that I went to search on Youtube many of the songs and movies in which the protagonist participated (KKKK), including going to Google translator to see how they sounded in Chinese. The lyrics of the songs and the way the author described them were very attractive, including the stories from the films. I love the way the author includes the comments and reactions of fans and anti-fans or black fans.

In conclusion, it is worth reading if we are looking for a quick, light and interesting reading.

Fui confirmar e realmente pertencia à mesma autora ou autor (不会下棋 ou Can't Play Chess).

Rating: 4/5- Cute story with a really likeable tsundere ML.

I enjoyed reading this. It has a very OP plot and there’s not much angst or problems faced by the characters.

Overall, however, the story has many plot holes and all the characters along with the system and the rebirth mesh relatively well even though you feel that they really don't. It's not bad enough to ruin the story but you can feel the confusion on many occasions.

In fact I had a lot of issues with this story but yet I made it to the end and couldn't really voice complete complaints. It's not an outstanding piece of work but there's just something entertaining about it and I think that's what encourages you to keep reading, I still had a ton of questions at the end and many misgivings and dissatisfactions- but overall I still found the gist of the novel pleasing.

The MC was alright, in my opinion. I neither loved him nor hated him. I really liked the ML though, he really was such a puppy. I didn’t understand the purpose of the system and it’s explanation felt very rushed.
The overall story doesn’t have many surprises and the MC is destined to beat everyone.

This is a novel dedicated to face slapping and there’s no real character growth. It’s just the MCs opportunity to live his best life.

The highlight of this story for me, were the last few paragraphs of the last chapter where they compare photos. It really was poetic and my heart twinged a bit because of sentiment towards many people who don’t get their happy endings because of illness.

Overall, it’s a nice read

Dropped at chapter 122

It's not a bad story, I just don't care about entertainment fluff. I enjoyed it well enough in the beginning but there's really nothing left to resolve at this point. I was also expecting this novel to be more focused on the relationship development of the MC and ML and instead the focus is on the MC and his entertainment career. The MC gets pitted by various people and each time he solves it using PR tactics and retaliates. It's interesting at first but now that the other conflicts have been resolved, I don't want to stick around to keep reading about just that.

Summary: Xie Yang is from a dystopian world and he suddenly finds himself as the 20 year old cannon fodder character who was married by his scum dad to the rich ceo villain who is the og novel's protagonist's uncle. The og female protagonist had a golden finger that allows her to use the love of people to make people like her and give her skills. Xie Yang decides to make his own deal with his husband, make his own entertainment business and teach the og protagonists not to mess with him.

Qiu Xing possibly on my list of favourite gongs coming in right after Mo Ran. It was a twitter post talking about him that encouraged me to read this book and as expected he turned out to be my favourite character out of the book. The 4 stars is entirely because of Qiu Xing and his relationship with Xie Yang. Xie Yang is also, obviously, another favourite from this book. He's cunning and smart, a tease. Though I will say his plot armour is...yeah.

Can't forget mother qiu i literally started crying when she passed away.

Somethings I wished were expanded upon:

1. The actual work involved in the entertainment industry rather than just the backstabbing. While it was fun in the beginning, it was like all the entertains turned out to be the same type of backstabber and petty person.

2. Complexity for Mu Zhouyi. In the original novel that Xie Yang transmigrates to, she's the ultimate good and the star everyone loves. In the current world, she's fully bad bad bad, except for her last appearance where Xie Yang cleanses her where we're told she was in control of the system

3. The hurried explanation of the world building at the end, making it underwhelming. I still don't understand the whole lot

Overall, it was a good experience, but the romance definitely carried the story and it was tooth rottingly sweet and funny.

MC dies in his original world and transmigrates into a book. In this new world he is an average singer sold by his family to the antagonist of the book. And ofc after transmigration he becomes good at everything, everyone envies him and tries to harm him,but he manages to faceslap all of his enemies, and cold and unlikable ML becomes originally misunderstood, fierce to the enemies of MC and cute to MC.

This novel is so second hand with nothing new to offer (except for mixing postapocalyptic abilities, a bound system, OP MC, cold ML, maniacs and entertainment industry faceslapping into one piece) that I do not really have to tell you what is wrong with it cz it is the same as all other novels with the same themes. But sometimes you want to read something predictable, with no angst and no nice characters dying, just something exactly like this. I did feel it was a bit long for this kind of a novel, cz I was looking forward to the end (in "how much longer do i have to read this 🙄" kind of way, not "i want to know how it all ends 😍" way) but I still finished it so it was not THAT bad

Wickedly funny but sedately paced, I spent an entire week working through this mountain of slice of life social media drama.
It hardly ever takes itself seriously, and the stakes rarely raise past "will Xie Yang's latest social media campaign be a success" and the answer is always yes.
Forever on top hyper competent mc Xie Yang might get on you nerves being so arrogant and unchallenged, but I found his writing to be charming enough that I was just as fond as him as everyone else was.
He's mean, he's cold, he acts like an conniving young step mother at all times and it's hilarious. Especially when he shows absolutely no mercy to his beloved husband forever and always.
The ml is good too. A little understated for my tastes, I wish we could've seen more of him and his inner world. But what we see from Xie Yang's perspective is a very silly shy "mouse" hiding under a cold exterior.
This thing is basically all character writing and twitter campaigns, so if it's not your speed turn back now. Especially don't expect the dystopia/supernatural elements to take a front seat, Xie Yang has album sales to make!
But what you get is very well done and a solid 4/5.

Both ML and MC are rationally driven characters (which i love love) I really like Xieyang as a person, he knows what he wants and don’t put up with anybody’s 💩 …not even the protagonist who pushes him away just to protect him, oh yes he taught him a good lesson (so satisfying)

as for the romance i think it was well written, they didn’t clicked right away, took them sometime to warm up actually and it’s more realistic this way. The development was nicely done, i’m usually so annoyed when the main couple falls in love too fast but in here is not the case… i could see exactly why and when the protagonist fall for Xieyang, they are so meant to be 🚢

if you like reading about rational, smart independent uke then this is for you (and me)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
4 stars because the sub plot near the end was too unnecessary, i wanna read more about interactions with band members, close friends etc than villains chasing

I may be solely running on coffee since i stayed up to binge read but it was the best decision i could've made. The amount of fluff in this book could fuel me until the next year. i cannot put into words how much i love this book.

The plot is darn good and well thought out. a good amount of face slapping and funny moments.

The mc and ml's relationship is really enviable. Qiu Xing gets the award for the Ml who consumed the most vinegar one could in 175 chapters. Xie Yang is so smart and funny? I want to put him in my pocket like though QX would legitemately behead me if he could.

ALSO ITS A HAPPY ENDING so you dont have to suffer too much. especially if you're a danmei fan since god knows that danmei writters have god given hands and an army of onion ninjas to farm tears.

4.5 rounded down because it started to drag a little after Mu Zhouyi's singing event.
Other than the draggy plot I have no complaints. Qiu Xing is the most wholesome tsundere in all of the books I've read and our MC is really good at managing this tsundere manchild.
The side characters were mostly filler... they would appear as needed and dissapear when their plot points were over. This entertainment ppl lived in ambar, waiting for our MC to contact them and give instructions as needed.
Whatever, side characters aren't that important, the relationship between MC & ML is the important bit and this was nicely done. A little shaky at first but once QX character was better established as a chronic tsundere every interaction became clearer and cuter.
The romance and HEA are 10/10.
Nice read.

I'm not sure where to start, and yet this book really hook me from start to finish, despite my worst time management I still could finish this quite early than expected

Dare I say this by far the best read this year? I'm satisfied with the plot, the building up story, characters and even the ending. It was well written

Both MC and ML are perfectly match together, they're powerful brainy couple and also have a good characters depth

The side characters also seems to be has their own charm not just as accessories to the story, I don't normally like 2nd pair, most of time I will skip them but in this one I'm really enjoying ke jin and joe relationship

And of course like I said, I really want a relationship like these two, it's the kind of relationship that I want lasting for my entire life, a person I wanna grow old with kinda type relationship
