Mina had worked her rear off to get her top education and a good job

when a colleague cheats her way into thee job Mina had worked for, and Mina unexpectedly discovers her magic, family and home are waiting for her

it can never repair hat her mother hid from her until then, or the breach between herself and her mother, but even an imperfect community with some danger has more magic, support and love than Mina has ever had

There's a new witch in town

Maybe she'll stick around for a bit!

Finding out you're a witch and have a family you never knew about is quite a shock to Mina. Not only does she have to adjust to that she is caught in a murder investigation.

Mina is working her way up to a partner ship in the company she works at. An accident involving a taxi leads her to Fairy Falls. There she finds out she has family that she never knew she had. But the wildest thing is, she's a witch.

Love at First Spell is the first book in the Fairy Fall Mystery Series.
This is also the very first book I have read by Samantha Silver and it definitely will not be the last.

We meet Mina Tiller, an ad exec whose only goal in life is to get the promotion and the corner office she has been working her entire life for. Fate has other plans. When she is hit by a taxi and discovers she's a witch everything changes and she ends up in Fairy Falls.

Murder is a foot and Mina cannot leave until the murder is solved.

The characters in this book were well developed, relatable and flawed, also hilarious!
I really enjoyed the dueling coffee houses LOL. Throw in a talking cat and characters will real issues, I am in LOVE.

I need to go now and read the second book in the series.

Highly recommend! Think I found a new favorite author :)

A great start to a new series!

Mina lives in the human world, climbing the corporate ladder until Kyran shows up one day to inform her she’s actually a Witch and takes her to Fairy Falls where her family is from ( her Mother left for the human world before Mina was born hence the reason she has no knowledge of her family)

An ensuing murder follows and Mina can’t return to the human world until it’s solved but will she want to??

With only two grammatical mistakes this is a great start to a new series.

It’s light and easy to read and Book 2 is already out.

I love this cozy magical mystery! The world is so bright and fun, and the story and characters give you that feel-good palate cleanser you need to get away from the roughness of reality for while. PERFECT for a blustery autumn day.

This is a standard, silly witch magic “system”. Nothing complex, it is delightfully silly and cartoonish.
My fantasy snob alarm goes off at the idea of accidental magic creating sentient life BUT this is a Cozy book not an epic fantasy :P

Silver's series never disappoint

This was a great start to a new series with characters I enjoyed getting to know. I like that this was a fast paced mystery in the magical world that Silver has created in her other series. The characters were actually some of my favorites of any of Silver's books. This author never disappoints for a fun, interesting mystery.

Welcome to Fairy Falls

This new series is a fun read! I can’t wait for the next book! Mina is the newest witch in the paranormal world! Without even a choice Mina must race against a clock to solve a mystery or possibly lose everything she’s worked for... but to leave the paranormal world behind?

Love it!

I think this might be the first book I've read by this author. I absolutely loved it. When Mina finds out she's a witch she is very doubtful. When she ends up in the paranormal world she's supposed. Magic isn't real, right? Little does she know she's going to help solve a murder. I love the characters and world building. I'm looking forward to reading more!

Too light of a read

This is a very lightweight read with no plot twists or complicated characters. This book is also light on descriptions and settings. It has a social justice side story unrelated to the actual plot making some parts of the book seem like a different book altogether.

Bit different but..

.. there's just something slightly off with the characters.. they seem a bit too much.. lacking the reality factor that makes paranormal mystery work.. dialogue isn't great..

A few errors drop in.. a name change for a character.. a sentence or two that repeats itself.. irritating

A fun new series

This first book was a delight and I look forward to reading a lot more in the future. It’s always fun when the main character discovers their new identity and the growing pains it entails. The mystery was great and I loved the book.

Honestly, I was very disappointed. The plot was almost not there, the search for the killer was thready at best. The characters were two-dimensional, the whole part about Mina being a witch was lame and not fully explored. I don't think that I'll be reading any more in this series. Sorry.

Reviewed at Paranormal-y Romantic

There hasn’t been a Samantha Silver book yet that I haven’t completely enjoyed or gotten caught up in her magical world – and Love at First Spell, the beginning of the Fairy Falls Mystery series is another example of why I enjoy and read this author… a lot.

Mina is a hard-working advertising executive determinedly edging her way to that higher job title and, of course, that much-desired corner office. She’s getting there… right up until the moment that her life changed forever by a discovery of not only a different magical realm (town) but that she is a heredity witch with powers she never imagined.

Learning you’re a witch is one thing, a magical realm set apart from the human’s world is another thing – but discovering that you’re stuck in this new magical town until you solve a murder is beyond anything Mina ever encountered. Now, what’s she supposed to do to get back home? And, does she really want to now that she’s tasted magic’s power and met some pretty amazing and unusual… people?

I had such a good time with Love at First Spell. If you’ve followed any of Ms. Silver’s other series then you’ll feel comfortable back in her world again. Mina is charming, funny, and dives right into solving a murder and discovering her magic abilities, as well as family she never knew existed. She (and we) will be meeting some intriguing characters – some good, some not – but all will add to Mina’s journey to find out who the ultimate villain is in Fairy Falls.

I’m not going to spoil any of this adventure for you – so know that Love at First Spell is a portal into another fun, interesting, and, at times, outrageous Paranormal Cozy Mystery series that already has me hook and ready for more. I’m betting you’ll enjoy your time in Fairy Falls. I’m about to dive into Hex Over Heels, the second story in the series – and just typing that put a smile on my face. So, yeah. I’m hooked on the series from the start.

I own a Kindle edition of Love at First Spell.

Mina Tiller, a high-powered executive whose only goal is to get that corner office - never caring about having any kind of personal life. On a quick lunch break in NYC she's struck by a taxi and the cab comes out of it the loser, Mina discovers something her mother had been hiding from her for her whole life: Mina is a witch.

Mina then travels to the paranormal town of Fairy Falls, and immediately finds herself embroiled in controversy when a wizard is poisoned right in front of her. Mina is asked to stay in town until the investigation is completed which would create a serious disruption to her job in NYC. She decides to find the killer with the help of her new-found cousin and a talking cat - her new familiar.

Between crazy relatives, magical gym sessions, and dueling paranormal families, Mina quickly finds a murder investigation might be the most normal thing about Fairy Falls. Mina learns about small towns and big secrets and discovers there's more to life than the next promotion.

A very entertaining book with some interesting characters and a new family and life for Mina. I'm looking forward to reading the next one in the series to see if the author can continue to good work!

The book was alright. I didn't hate anything about it but I didn't love anything about it either. The characters were completely forgettable. I feel like I know nothing about them after finishing the book. I found the book boring. The characters are boring, they spend so much time talking and talking and talking while never really saying anything.

The MC and her cousin talked and talked and talked to all these suspects. Yet at the end, the mystery was solved by the culprit doing one of those big long monologue reveal things. Not once did any of the clues actually point or even hint at who wound up doing the deed!

Mina is a witch but doesn't care about it. The magical aspect of this story was barely covered (as far as the MC is concerned). Others around her did magic while she just trudged along.

There was no depth to any of the characters or the world, it all felt two (maybe even ONE!) dimensional.

I really wanted to like this book. I'm sure others love it but it was just so slow and boring for me. I couldn't get into it. I did actually finish reading it though so the rating reflects that.

After getting through a couple of name typo confusions in the beginning, I fell into the story and quite enjoyed it! So far no MC “idiot moves” which are are my main no-no’s. I also alway enjoy when there is a BF, which in this case is her new found family member Scarlett. Looking forward to the next book.

Syrup

Cute cozy mystery with a with who didn't know she was a witch, much less that there was an entire paranormal world. She met family she didn't know she had and felt loved for the first time. Over the course of two days she solved a murder, met her familiar and connected with family. It was syrupy sweet. This is an extremely fast read and is an easy, fun read.

What a fun read!

Finding out that magic is real and you're a magical being is a thing of dreams. Finding out there are magical towns is beyond belief. I thoroughly enjoyed Mina's discoveries and can't wait to read more of her adventures
