Annie Martin is thrilled to have moved from the hectic buzz of L.A. to the small town of Hillsboro, Northern California, where the most happening bar only plays honky-tonk and nowhere does a good matcha latte. But the best thing about Hillsboro? The Anderson sisters. At their noisy family dinners, Annie can almost forget the mistakes she made back in the city, trying to fit in.
Annie has repaid the sisters’ friendship with some obvious-but-effective matchmaking and now there’s only one Anderson still looking for love. But Rose is surprisingly prickly about an enforced happy-ever-after, and when a meticulously planned meet-cute ends drenched in the town fountain, Annie realizes this project calls for someone with a deeper knowledge of the Hillsboro bachelors.
Local reporter and all-around grouch George Barnett has been a thorn in Annie’s side since she came to town. He knows all too well that everyone has secrets and he thinks the story of why social media darling Annie Martin swapped stilettos for sneakers might be the scoop that makes his career. Annie is sure her skeletons are under triple lock and key, so she offers him an exclusive, if he’ll help her find a match for Rose.
But the more George and Annie try to control the love lives around them, the less they’re able to sway their own hearts. As Annie’s infectious laugh begins to bring down George’s barrier of surliness, can he open his heart and let her in for real? And can Annie be brave enough to trust the man who could be her future, with the secrets of her past?
A heart-warming story of friendship and finding love in the most unlikely of places, fans of Robyn Carr, Debbie Macomber and Carolyn Brown will adore The Perfect Hideaway.

Looking at him was like catching sight of lightning striking an electrical grid. All sparks.
Her nameplate was actually covered in masking tape, and upon that was written Mynette Chen— Administrative Assistant/ Professional Badass.

My Review:
This was a sweet hybrid of enemies to lovers/small-town/contemporary romance/women’s fiction tale that was chaste enough for my elderly mother’s book club and still kept me entertained. I was expecting the primary focus to be placed the last Anderson sister but was surprised to see her placed in a secondary role. The main characters were at odds and distrustful of each other and wielded sharp banter and took witty and snarky bites at each other most of the way through. Although, they began to see a different side of each other after they called a truce and struck a deal to collaborate on a personal project, with humorous and amorous results that both were resisting. George was using Annie to get information for a story, and being a journalist, he did not welcome or want to acknowledge any “inconvenient feelings,” snort.
The writing was easy to follow, well balanced between emotive and amusing, and teased and prodded my curiosity to learn the buried secrets and private shame that was plaguing Annie. I wasn’t on the bus for team George until the last few chapters, but he finally managed to win me over once he pulled his head from his nether regions, sometimes men deserve a little foot action to assist with the dislodging and I would have eagerly volunteered ;) I coveted Mynette Chen's clever nameplate and am busy making plans to create a similar one for myself.
Hopeful and happy. Flirty and fun. Alys Murray’s sweet small town romances will touch your heart and make you smile. This is the third book in the Full Bloom Farm series, but it can without a doubt be read as a standalone. Annie loves to make other people happy. Now that she has successfully made a love match for sisters Harper and May it is their oldest sister Rose’s turn. But Rose is not a willing participant in Annie’s matchmaking shenanigans. Not to mention that Annie seems to only set up Rose with her mortal enemies. Annie needing a little more insight into the small town dynamics Annie bribes news reporter George to help her out. George agrees only because he is convinced that there is a story to be told about Annie and her wealthy brother Luke.
This was a whimsical enemies to lovers story. Both Annie and George were likable characters with tragic passs. I loved their chemistry, their banter, and their tender moments. I was really hoping they could both put down their walls and find love. This was a delightful story that just made me feel good!

*** Big thank you to Bookouture for my gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own. ***
The Perfect Hideaway by Alys Murray is the third book in the contemporary romance Full Bloom Farm series. The common thread of this series is the setting with each book of this series changing the main characters so they each contain their own full romance and could be read as a standalone if choosing to do so.
The first two books of this series featured two of the Anderson sisters whose family own the Full Bloom Farm so one would think book three would be the romance of the third sister, well it is, sort of. Annie Martin is the socialite sister of Luke Martin who fell in love with Harper Anderson and Annie has moved from L.A. to the small town of Hillsboro, Northern California to be with her brother and is now good friend’s with the Andersons. Annie is downright determined to find the last single sister, Rose, a match.
Annie’s attempts at matchmaking are not going as well the third time around however and Rose is not happy about it. In order to find more suitable men for Rose Annie decides she needs to enlist the help of her nemesis, the town reporter George Barnett. George has considered Annie a story in the past so Annie offers him an exclusive if he helps for a match for Rose. The more time Annie spends with George though the closer the two get now if only they can learn to trust one another.
I have actually followed the Full Bloom Farm series from the beginning and have gotten to know the characters quite well with Annie having already made an appearance in the earlier books. The characters and setting in this series are just so lovely and the romantic trope changes with each book to give a whole fresh way of introducing the characters into a relationship. Having enjoyed all of the series so far I’ll definitely be back for more in the future.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
The Perfect Hideaway (previously titled The Wildflower Promises) is the 3rd book in the Full Bloom Farm series set in the picturesque small town of Hillsboro and this book focuses on Annie Martin and George Barnett.
Annie Martin has everything going for her. She's beautiful, rich and at the age of 25 years is a successful social media influencer. Plus, she loves matchmaking! After putting her matchmaking skills to successful use, for Harper (with her own brother Luke) and May Anderson, in the first two books, Annie now sets her sight on Rose the third Anderson sister; however, Rose proves tricky for Annie's skills as she isn't easily influenced by Annie's matchmaking efforts. George Barnett is a handsome journalist for the local paper who has had his mind set, for the past two years, to 'expose' the Martins truth as he is sure there is a dark, dirty secret hidden behind the siblings' success story. So when Annie comes to George with a proposition to help her out with the Rose issue, George agrees only if Annie gives him the scoop about herself and Luke.
This is a sweet, heartwarming, clean romance about two people who, outwardly, appear to be confident and charismatic but are infact quite insecure; they are both loners each hiding an individual secret; a secret they believe that, if brought to light, will make everyone they know dislike them completely. It is only by gradually getting to know each other, through a bit of fun, flirting, laughter and tears, that they both realise they might have more in common with each other and could be the 'soul mates' they have been searching for.
My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture and the author Alys Murray for the e-Arc of the book. I haven't read the first two books of the series but it didn't affect my enjoying this third installment.
Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous
This is the first book that I have read by this author and is the third novel in the 'Full Bloom Farm' series. Although this book is the third in the series it can definitely be read as a standalone and you wouldn't be able to tell its part of the series. I am looking forward to reading more of her books!
I was originally drawn to this book by its beautiful cover and title & interesting blurb. It is also a different genre to what I normally read so it was a perfect excuse to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).
This novel consists of 23 chapters and an epilogue which are a nice length so that you can read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This book is written from the perspectives of Annie and George and it is set in California. I always enjoy reading books written from several persons perspectives as it feels like I get to know the characters better and get a bigger picture of what is going on. The way it was written made me feel like I was right next to Annie and George and going through all the emotional turmoil with them
This novel is very smoothly written and flowed lovely. It had me hooked from the first page to the very last. It's a very light hearted and beautiful story of finding love in the most unlikely of places. There was drama, tears, laughter, love, secrets and lies all around, everything that makes the perfect romance. It almost brought me to tears and I'm a very hard hearted person!!!
The characters were all strong and well defined. I loved all their personalities, flaws and quirks and I feel that they all worked together perfectly in this book. Annie remind me of myself not very long ago in wanting to be liked by everyone and I liked seeing a bit of my old self in a character. I also love the fact that although she could have bought a huge mansion she bought the complete opposite.
The descriptions were excellent and the locations beautiful. They made me feel that I was really in the storyline. The ending was perfect and I would love to read more of their story and lives. I am also looking forward to reading more books by Alys Murray who has made a new fan of me.
Overall a perfect light hearted, beautiful summer romance read.
Genres covered include Fiction, Romance novel and Contemporary romance.
I would recommend this book to fans of the above and anyone looking for a lighthearted read.
247 pages.
This book is £1.99 to purchase on kindle via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

Quite a cute book of small-town romances. I loved the earlier books, so I was eager to get into this one in between my thrillers. Book 3 in the series but each could be read as a standalone romance, the author provided enough backstory. Annie wanted the eldest sister Rose to find her true love, but it backfired so she got George to help her out. But there was a problem, they didn't like each other. I loved their sarcastic banter, writing provided some laughs interspersed with the realities of their past life. There were enough emotions to make me get invested in the story and finish it in one sitting. Overall, a sweet read.
This is the third book in this series which is based in the small town of Hillsboro in Northern California. It is here that the Anderson sisters live and they have welcomed Annie Martin into their lives, though her matchmaking can get a bit much at times as she's so obvious about it all. However, with two of the three sisters now married, there's only Rose left for her to work her magic for . . . . and Rose isn't going to be quite as easy!
Annie is also lonely as her brother is off on honeymoon. That's why she decides to involve George Barnett, he's a local reporter who really wants to dish the dirt on her and her brother, so bribery to get him to help works well. Actually, maybe it works too well? As these two adversaries try to control everything around them, getting to know each other actually breaks down their personal barriers and mutual attraction grows between them. Can they learn to trust and love each other or will her secrets and his drive to find the story get in the way?
This is an enemies to lovers romance with great characters and plenty of surprises along the way. Annie is so insecure in her friendships and self belief whilst George just doesn't trust anyone with the secrets they are both keeping. They make a great if reluctant team and the growth of their relationship, complete with interference from others, make this a very bumpy journey with so many obstacles to be overcome en route. It is a heartwarming addition to the series and definitely showed a different side to Annie from how she was portrayed in earlier books. I can't wait to read Rose's story and catch up on what has happened to her sisters and Annie in future.
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.
This is the third book in the Full Bloom Farm series, but it can be read as a standalone. Annie loves to make others happy, and her sister, Rose, is the perfect “project.” Then after Annie propositions George to help in the efforts of finding love for Rose, things really come to life between the enemies to romance trope. Annie and George have a bumpy road ahead to secure their growing love for each other, but Ms. Murray does a beautiful job of weaving it all together nicely.
Now she’s finished arranging her brother’s wedding, Annie feels lost. Having successfully match-made two of the Anderson sisters, Annie decides now is the time to help out the third, Rose. But her first attempt slightly backfires and she finds herself dancing with the town reporter, George ~ a man who’s spied on her brother and is determined to uncover any family secrets.
George gets sucked in to Annie’s match-making project, but on the proviso that he gets something out of it, something he wants. Despite the fact that they dislike each other, an agreement is made and they get on with it. But as her match-making abilities fall short, Annie finds herself developing feelings for the one man in town she should stay away from. She doesn’t want her secrets uncovered, secrets that no-one but her brother knows….. And despite George’s attempt to stay distant and professional, he sees another side to Annie ~ one that he didn’t think existed. But can they overcome their initial impressions and distrust? Or is there something that will stand in their way? They’re in for a bumpy ride….
This is another feel-good romance that genuinely had me laughing out loud! Having read the author’s last book, I already knew Annie but this book brings out a totally different side to her. Coming across as a happy-go-lucky, always smiling social media starlet, there is more to Annie that meets the eye; and it’s quite sad that she feels that she can’t be the real her. As we get to know Annie more her vulnerabilities open up and I just wanted to give her a cuddle. She’s had a rough ride but she keeps it hidden from the world well.
I really didn’t like George at first; he comes across as an arrogant man who just wants to get the best scoop. But as I got to know him my feelings changed, although he did frustrate me at times! Mr Barnett was fantastic; he sounds like a brilliant man and although a character on the periphery, he plays an important part.
The antics that Annie and George get up to made me laugh! You can’t help but enjoy the times they spend together, laugh when their plans fall flat and really hope that they end up together. The setting is fantastic. I fell in love with the town of Hillsboro in the last book, so it was wonderful to be back. It sounds like the cutest little town, although the town rumour mill would drive me nuts! The author does a fantastic job of really sucking you into the surrounding and storyline, and I felt like I was watching a colourful, charming and beautiful film.
This was one of the those books that I thoroughly enjoyed picking up again after putting it down, knowing that something would make me smile. It really will make you smile and feel-good, and would be the perfect book to read whilst your chilling with a your feet up and a glass of wine/cup of tea! I’m becoming a huge fan of Alys Murray and can’t wait to see what she brings us next. If you’re looking for your next feel-good, warm your heart and make you smile read then you should definitely check this out. Highly recommend by me.
The Perfect Hideaway is the 3rd book in the Full Bloom Farm series. This series is about the Anderson sisters and their best friend Annie. Annie's brother is married to one of the sisters. In this book, the sisters are helping Annie find her perfect match. Annie is a well known influencer who is tired of the city and the paparazzi and quite happy to move to the small, quiet town of Hillsboro, California. Annie is trying to find a match for Rose, but things are not working out. She enlists the help of local reporter, George Barnett. He may be a huge grouch, but she convinces him to help her investigate online dating sites and love matches. George thinks that Annie might have secrets about herself and her brother that might be worth investigating, so plays along. The more time they spend together, the more they begin to care about one another, but when Annie finds out that George is also investigating her, things fall apart, and her heart is broken. Can they save their fledgling relationship.
The Perfect Hideaway is an enemies to lovers romance with great characters and plenty of surprises along the way. Annie might be well known in the influencer world, but she is very insecure when it comes to personal friendships, and why people want to be her friend. George has his own secrets and has spent a lot of time trying to prove himself in the media world. He just needs that big story. They make a reluctant team but the growth of their relationship/friendship, complete with interference from others, have them on a bumpy journey. I enjoyed this story and loved seeing them work through their issues. Of course that miscommunication/secrets revealed trope causes that breakup we all expected, but can they get beyond it to realize that what they have is real? A great addition to this series. I love these characters and Alys Murray's writing. A good, clean romance with a HEA that made me smile. The audiobook is narrated by Jennifer Woodward and she does a wonderful job with this story. She gives voice to the characters and with her tone, pacing and expression, makes this a joy to listen to.
This is the first book I have read from this author and the third book of the sister series, written by the same author. This book is not a continuation of the series so that is actually good news!
Annie Martin who is an Instagram celebrity moved from L.A. to Hillsboro and immediately becomes friends with the Anderson sisters. Hanging out with Anderson sisters makes Annie forget about the her issues she had back in L.A. When her brother Luke marries Harper Anderson and then sets off to start a new life, Annie feels lonely. But Annie wants to make a matchmaking service, finding a suitable guy for the only single Anderson sister in the family, Rose. And she gets an unexpected help from a handsome and gruffy reporter, George Barnett on one condition--that George will write an article about her brother Luke. But George was looking for some sort of scandal that would likely destroy Luke's career...
Annie and George cannot stand each other but eventually, a romance soon develops between them.
This is actually a very charming and cheesy romantic book I have read. The writing was good, the author did a good job, making the reader engage into the story. The characters in the book are all likable and the plot line of the story is good. I really like how the two people, who can't stand each other would eventually become friends and later on turn into lovers. However, the ending was way too predictable.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading the book--the haters eventually turning into lovers is one fascinating book to read. This book is enjoyable to read, kept me hooked into the book until the end and overall really enjoyed the book!
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this book!
Alys Murray has done it again by writing a wonderfully, heartfelt and charming novel. This is the third book in the Full Bloom Farm series, which is a series I’ve grown to adore.
If you enjoy the lovey, butterflies in your stomach and heart melting moments Hallmark movies deliver, then you’re going to absolutely love this novel.
I loved the banter between Annie and George, which brought a nice touch of humour into the story. There was enough intrigue into Annie’s hidden past that caused her to always have her guard up that was an interesting twist, and I really loved that George wouldn’t give up trying to get to know her. But both protagonists are complex characters, and that gave the story much more depth.
Their love story was such a sweet account two flawed and hurt people who find love, while embracing each other’s many facets.I really enjoy Murray’s style of descriptive and witty style of writing, which has led me to becoming a big a fan. The Perfect Hideaway is a wonderful romance novel that shouldn’t be missed.
I love this series and was happy to read the story of Annie and George. There are some story you don’t you need to read because I thought I was going to read a heartwarming and uplifting story, laugh and and root for the characters. The story is heartwarming and uplifting, it made me laugh and root for the characters but it also moved me to tears because it’s the story of two hurt and lonely people who meet and change their life. What I didn’t expect was to be me moved to tears by their solitude and their need to meet someone special. Annie and George are two great characters, well thought and realistic. Their sufferance and their personality are well described and you cannot help loving them and feeling for them. Even when you are laughing at their antics or appreciating the lovely setting and the humour. This is book is perfect for any Hallmark movie lover but there are multiple layers that makes it more complex than what I expected. I strongly recommend it because it’s an excellent read. Many thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
I have become a huge fan of this series. In the third book, we skip the third Anderson sister and get Annie. I’m good with this because I have liked her from the beginning. Her demeanor and zeal for making people happy is apparent and flows from the pages. I liked the back and forth between her and George. The dialogue was snappy and fun. The author always does an excellent job of creating the environment of Hillsboro, but this time we also get an interesting commentary on the fake nature of social media worship. But it’s done subtly and doesn’t detract from the romance at hand. Highly recommend. For a full review, please visit Fireflies and Free Kicks. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for a digital ARC of the book.
Alys Murray has hit another home run for me with this book. The Perfect Hideaway is the third book in the Full Bloom series. She has brought the character to life for me and I just could not wait to turn each page to see what was going to happen. Annie has her eyes on finding true love for Rose the last of the Anderson sisters to find love. While she is looking for love for Rose things heat up for her with George. Read this series and you will enjoy every one of the books. Thank you Netgalley, Alys Murray and Bookouture for the ARC of The Perfect Hideaway. This is my personal reviews in exchange for the ARC.
The Perfect Hideaway is the 3rd book in the series. Each book has a new romance story to dive into. Though some of the characters do appear in other books in the series, you can read each as a standalone. But, I do recommend you read each book. I really enjoyed the romance aspect in the story. Having to choose between love and your own personal success? Which would you pick if you had to? Just a heartwarming read. Thank you to my local library for this copy of The Perfect Hideaway. I sorry to say I missed the archive date due to illness. But, upon reading this wonderful story, I knew I had to write a review on it.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and it won’t be the last. The story is part of a series, but even without reading the previous book(s)?, I had no trouble following the characters and story of the small town called Hillsboro.
This is George and Annie’s story. He’s a journalist for the hometown newspaper, she is an Instagram star and influencer who splits time between Hillsboro and LA. George is chasing his big chance, a tell-all about Annie and her tech king brother Luke. At first the two clash, but grow to care about each other.
I don’t do spoilers, please read this sweet, clean romance and see if they get their HEA.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
Everyone has secrets of silly things they did when they left home but sometimes beautiful women are targets. They want to be accepted for being intelligent as well as beautiful. Annie Martin, in her attempt to try her matchmaking skills on Rose, employs the help of the local investigative journalist , George Barnett. Full of pathos and some comedic moments as well as sadness and disappointment, love is on the horizon for one of them but one of them may lose her chance at love and acceptance by revealing a sad and sleezy experience that may destroy the possibility of love.
This one might be my favorite of the whole series. Annie is such a fun character and the Emma vibes fit right in with her character. Alys is a wonderful writer who is adept at building that romantic tension. A very fun summer read
3.5 Stars The Perfect Hideaway is a quick, easy read – perfect for when you want a light, feel-good story where love triumphs in the end. This is the third book in the Full Bloom Farm series. I have not read the previous two, but I felt it worked well on its own merits.
Annie Martin is a social media influencer who has swapped her Los Angeles lifestyle for the quiet little town of Hillsboro in the northern part of the state. Going to great lengths to maintain her happy, successful façade, she runs full tilt into George Barnett, an investigative journalist, determined to reveal the “truth” about Annie and her brother Luke. What starts out as a clash of strong personalities mellows into friendship and then deepens into love over the course of the book. Not only do these two take risks in sharing their vulnerabilities around family, they also both have believed that they are unlovable and not worthy of meaningful relationships, pouring all their energies into their work. In that manner, the book is somewhat predictable, but nonetheless it is a heart-warming story.
My biggest issue was the pacing of the story line. The first half of the book is spent exploring Annie’s low self-esteem resulting in extreme codependent behavior. There are allusions to her hidden past, but it became a bit tedious after a while. Fortunately, the last half of the book has more depth in character development as the interactions between Annie and George become more authentic and realistic...even charming. All the characters in the book are likeable and relatable.
Based on this reading, I will definitely pursue the first two books in the series (The Magnolia Sisters and Sweet Pea Summer) to round out my understanding of the characters.
My thanks to the author, Bookoutre and NetGalley for providing the opportunity to review a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Annie Martin with her looks, social media savvy, insta fame and brother who created an empire fell in love with the Andersons of Full Bloom Farm, as they did with her. Now with her brother away on his honeymoon with Harper, youngest sister May off traveling the world with her man Tom: Annie’s focus has now turned to Rose and finding her a man. One thing that Annie does hide is her deep-down insecurities – never feeling like she can ‘be herself’ and need others. That becomes her Achille’s heel here in this story.
George is a reporter for the local newspaper and determined to ‘bring down’ Annie’s brother Luke. For two years he’s chased down leads, trying to find the ‘dirt’ behind his empire. Annie just might be the ‘in’ he needs – and when he tries to get her to ‘open up’, he’s shut down just as quickly. But Annie is nothing if not resourceful, and agrees to an exclusive interview with her, if George helps her find a match for Rose.
These two are adorable together, even as neither really trusts the other fully. George is finding that Annie, just being her, brings light and smiles into his life, and he’s amazed at all of the ‘nevers’ she has experienced. From a first ‘date’ at a honky tonk bar to a miniature horse wedding, he’s falling hard for Annie, and he’s discovering that his desire to ‘uncover’ Luke’s business dealings and secrets is waning. Perfectly fitting into this series, we get some background on Rose, a bit about Annie’s secrets, see her magic work on other new people and finally find the happy ending that is so deserved for both Annie and George.
I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
After a bad time in Los Angeles, an aspiring matchmaker returns home to her small town home town and begins a relationship with a reporter with the local newspaper, someone who she is previously familiar with and annoyed with. A major theme in this book is a desire to social climb among elite Californian families, and the writing successfully embodies that sense of ignorance, self-importance, and self loathing common in that target social sphere. The book navigates some complexities of the characters' world, such as the importance of classical cultural events, such as their girlfriend auction, along with modern complications of the Information Age. Struggling to reconcile the way they have done things in the past with, more or less, what cannot be gotten away with or kept secret, the story settles on a simple pairing as children of their town. Well, that didn't work matchmaking moments aren't considered in great detail, and both characters' own claimed motivations are often easily questionable. In the climactic moment, the main character decides between going to the airport to return to her Los Angeles life or guiding her taxi to her boy friend's workplace, and short of walking across the country on foot Forrest Gump style, she must be carried away, and that would certainly not be elite.
All in all, a nice trip through small town social events and life style.
This book was an easy romantic read where we see Annie, a social media influencer and serial matchmaker meet George, a journalist who is intent on interviewing her brother about his business and wealth. George thinks there are secrets to reveal but he doesn't have any idea what secret Annie is hiding. It is a book set in a small town and the story starts when Annie and George meet at her brother's wedding. He is a wealthy man and he is determined to uncover and reveal his secrets. The pair begin to work together and slowly they both realise they are falling in love with each other but neither is willing to take the step or to discuss their feelings. Living in a small town lots of other people question their intentions but for a lot of the book, they deny their feelings toward each other. The book explores more of Annie's personality, she has low self-esteem despite being a social media influencer and is certain she is not worthy of love. The book has many ups and downs and was a well-written book that flowed easily from Annie's views to George's views which I liked. It has a beautiful cover and it was not until well into the book that I realised this was the third book in a series. I am not sure if I missed out on this for this story but I felt this was for a stand-alone read. A nice story about how two people can fall in love even when they are so far apart when they first meet. I gave this book 3 stars, it was enjoyable and an easy read.
I received a digital ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This gorgeous story is the third in a series of wonderful tales set in Hillsboro and featuring the Anderson Sisters. In theory, this story focuses on the remaining Anderson sister, Rose. Annie is determined to find her matchmaking hat-trick and sets her sights on Rose’s love life. As is often the way, with even the best of plans, things don’t work out as they should, and Annie finds herself in the spotlight. I cannot recommend this series enough. Alys Murray has found the perfect recipe for romance and her stories are enchanting. I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about Annie and the close bond between her and brother Luke. Both George and Annie have deep secrets that neither is willing to share. Finding someone to trust with their pasts, and to be confident that it won’t lead to regrets, is one of the hardest challenges they both face. This book can be read as a standalone story but, the whole series is so wonderful that you’ll probably read them all anyway. Enjoy, you’re in for a treat.
Having been introduced to Annie in 'Sweet Pea Summer', I was at first a bit taken aback by how she was portrayed at the start this book. In the earlier book, she struck me as a confident woman who could charm and trick her way into getting people to do things they wouldn't otherwise do! But she always used this for good. However, in the Perfect Hideaway, the author shows us an Annie who is haunted by her past and is desperate to get other people to like her. Having hidden behind so many layers, and trying hard to live up to her Instagram celebrityhood, Annie has forgotten who she really is. When her brother, Luke, gets married, and she moves out of their home, Annie is confronted with her own loneliness and confusion as to how she should spend her time. At Luke's wedding, she bumps into George - a reporter who is after finding out the 'real' story behind Luke and Annie's wealth and motives. When Annie decides to turn her sights on setting Rose ( the last unmarried Anderson sister) up with someone, she recruits George to help her. In return, she offers him an interview with Luke. Both Annie and George are equally drawn to and repulsed by each other. Their past experiences keep them from trusting each other as well. The characters of George and Annie are very likeable, strong and well defined. The other characters in the story especially Rose Anderson, Mynette and Mr Barnett are lovely too. I enjoyed the banter between Annie and George and their soft hearts that they try hard to cover! How they find love, acceptance and healing in each other makes for a really sweet story. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
After having read the (love)story about the Harper and May, I thought we would be treated to Rose’s fairy tale. Was I right? Weeeeelllll, yes and no. I see you thinking what I mean by that, but sorry, not going to reveal that. You will have to find that out for yourself.
Annie has always played an important role in the series. Will she be on the foreground again or will she have a more subdued part this time? Knowing Annie, I guess this will probably more like the former. 😉
When you have to choose between personal success and love, what would you pick?
Anyway, a nice story about how distrust and dislike can turn into love, can turn into hate, but can it turn back into love again? 4 stars
This is a Netgalley ARC review. All opinions are solely my own.
The Perfect Hideaway by Alys Murray is a sweet romance that definitely leaves the reader feeling light and happy. This is book 3 of the Full Bloom Farm series and I would recommend reading the books in order. There is some background that a stand alone reader would find confusing.
Annie is a friend of the Anderson sisters and she loves to meddle in their lives. She's an influencer and has a love to hate relationship with the town reporter, George. And honestly, could there be a name that screams nosy reporter better than George?? George is finagled into helping Annie with another of her "pet projects." Hijinks ensue and if this were a Hallmark movie I'd be all in for the entire two hours.
I'm hoping Alys Murray has one more book in the series for Rose Anderson. Fingers crossed.
I received an eARC of The Perfect Hideaway by Alys Murray from Bookouture and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! 4 stars! An easy feel-good romantic read with a small-town backdrop. Definitely recommend!
From the moment George was introduced you didn't want to let go of him. Silly and funny at times but a good story of someone growing up and finding their place.
