I don’t know where to start

I had seen a review mentioning cliffhanger and with the novel being 1000 pages I thought at least the first major arc would be resolved especially since all the other reviews talked about how cute it was.

So before I say anything else let me manage the expectations by saying that the cliffhanger after 1000 pages is a major one in the main arc.

That being said I enjoy the overall story. I picked it up because the premise was ridiculous and I wasn’t disappointed. This guy was a hamster for 233 days. A cute and ridiculous hamster.

The translator did a really good job. One of the better translations I’ve read for using slang and converting it relevant things we’d understand in North America.

While i understand I’m reading a serialized web novel which means there can be added fluff, I think this story would benefit from a good edit to chop out 50% of the content. It’s long and I don’t think it needed to be. The core story is strong and doesn’t need a lot of the extra details. I hope I get a sequel translated sooner rather then later cause I need to see how it’s resolved

Initially I liked this book. Absolutely hated the ending. It was too long (over 1000 pages) for very little payoff and a cliffhanger ending 😡 A lot more depth than the title leads you to believe- MC (as a hamster) ends up investigating who stole his designs. Being reincarnated 8 months to before his death and the butterfly effect made it intriguing but a little convoluted trying to figure out what’s happening. I actually felt annoyed and angry after finishing this book because it felt like several things were never resolved and I was pretty invested in Yan Jin and Xiao Yu’s relationship. There were some sweet and funny moments but unfortunately lots of boring moments. I could forgive the extra details if it had a satisfying ending 😩

Alright first review of the new year, let's make it a good one.

For starters, this book had absolutely no business being as good as it was with a title like that. When I first saw this book I thought that there was no way it could be any good, and then I saw the page count and I just could not imagine what on earth this book was going to be about. Low and behold for several reasons only slightly out of my control I ended up actually reading it. Let me tell you I was surprised by how good this book was and how fast of a read it was. It didn't read like most other books and in fact, read much more like a light novel even though it was well over 1,000 pages. This may have something to do with it being a translated work from China and light novels being a Japanese format, but I don't know. There was so much going on in here that I just cannot tell you because it would be a complete disservice to the book. Just know that it is really good. Oh, and be prepared for a massive cliffhanger at the end.

Meio Meh.
