And there went out another horse that was red, and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another, and there was given unto him a great sword. (Revelation 6:4)
The Second Seal is opened and an impending terrorist attack threatens to kill off a large swath of the global population. Josh and Emilio have captured one of the terrorists. Through an unsanctioned interrogation, they learn that a weaponized virus is about to be unleashed on four major cities in America. Using back channels, they pass along the information to the Special Agent in Charge of the Tampa DHS field office. However, the SAC winds up dead, leaving Josh and Emilio to neutralize the threat on their own.
In the face of a weaponized pandemic, you have to stock up, hunker down, and pray like your life depends on it.
Meanwhile, back at the compound, Stephanie, Micah, and the others prepare to shelter in place in case the worst happens. They must add to their provisions in the face of skyrocketing inflation. They’ll have to harden the perimeter and get ready for what will be the most terrible time the planet has ever endured.
Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Lucius Alexander knows better than to let a good crisis go to waste. He’ll utilize the panic over the impending plague to expand his authority over the globe. And while no vaccine officially exists for the virus, no one in the Global Union government nor the state-run media seem to be getting sick.
Mark Goodwin is a Christian author and host of the popular Prepper Recon Podcast which interviews patriots, preppers and economists to help people prepare for the uncertain times ahead. His previous fiction series, The Days of Noah spent several months at number one on the Amazon best-sellers list in multiple categories. His first series, The Economic Collapse Chronicles, also hit the Amazon best-sellers list in several categories.
Great part two. Very reminiscent of the famous Left Behind series, but a bit more up-to-date.
Centering around a virus intentionally spread by terrorists, funded by the Saudi king, Josh and his friend and former teammate Emilio set out to do what they can to stop the attacks from happening. Sadly, they can only hit one city themselves, Cincinnati. They get word out to friends in the jurisdictions where the other three are to take place, but have to stay low-key as the new global government might be somehow behind the attacks, or actively turning a blind eye. Things get crazy as they're forced to hit the road once again and there's no way for them all to get away. As if everything with the end of days and tyrannical, likely satanic, global government wasn't enough, the Red Virus is spreading uncontrollably with an average minimum 25% mortality rate.
It may be too short of a book, but at least it's worth the read.
Another good End Times story from this author. I really, really like most of it, except for the sad parts! The only thing I don't care for, & I said this for the 1st two books, is the specific details regarding warfare, especially the equipment. I am reading these books because they are enjoyable & following Bible prophecy. I'm interested in the story, not a shopping list. I'm not expecting to be needing to prep & fight because I won't be here when this time comes because I'm a Pre-Trib believer! I understand why the author includes these things. I simply wish he would list these things in an addendum instead of repeating them multiple times throughout the book. That way the folks who ARE interested can have a list to keep on hand & I'll have a good story which doesn't sound like a gun store ad! BTW, I'm not picking on him! I've said the same for books on this theme by other authors!
I love every single one of Mark Goodwin’s series that I have read and this is no exception! Book Two- The Beginning of Sorrows-World Order continues the apocalyptic saga of end of days. It will leave you looking at present day events slightly differently or maybe even with a lot more scrutiny. If you haven’t made a commitment to God this series might be what helps you choose-the religious themes presented don’t distract from a great story. If talk of God offends you then it isn’t the series you will likely choose but maybe one you actually *should* read. Thank you Mark Goodwin for another great series. I helped boost your KENP for the day and the day is still young; I have another book to get in this series to read! I’ve recommended several of your books to my mother and my husband who is also an author! Keep up the great work! To other readers - I’m sure you’ll love these books.
Finished book 2, on to book 3 today, just another really great Bible based story from Mark. I did have quite a few "moments" with the Red Death (2nd Horse) galloping everywhere and taking a few of the characters with it. We know from reading Revelation that this will happen in some way or another, and I do believe the Bible is GOD'S love letter to us telling us the future from time past. We have a loving GOD that wants all his children to come to him and be with him eternally. I have a hard time sometimes wondering why people do not grasp this free gift and hold on with everything they've got. Mark's stories are so true to today's world and need to be addressed by all people, the FATHER is calling and while we are alive in this fallen world, we need to trust YESHUA, (JESUS) and turn to the true GOD in repentance and ask his son to be our LORD and SAVIOR. Love your books Mark, even if they make me cry at times, but thankfully I know the truth, and it has set me free. I love that the characters you create are like us, fallen beings, trying to set things right. They are believable in their trials and make us think of how we would protect ourselves and our family. Back to book 3.....................
I am especially thankful for an author who realizes that profanity is NOT necessary regardless of what the story is about. In a series like this full of hatred and lawlessness it would be an easy thing to slip in lots of profanity but as Mr. Goodwin shows.....it's completely unnecessary in the writing of great stories. I read a lot of prophesy but I also like to tone it down sometimes and read some books that are more relaxing such as a good western. There are many authors in that genre that use a lot of profanity in their books, even using the Lord's name in the profanity........ I refuse to read those authors. I have found dozens of western authors that are Christians and like Goodwin, they can write a great story without any profanity. Those are the authors that I will continue to read their books.
This time the story did slow down a bit, so that solved my complaint from the first book. Then it went into the global plague. I'm not sure when this book was written, but as I said, it was hauntingly familiar to the past year and the advice given for early treatment. Even down to the lockdown of the cities. The response of the healthcare workers in the book compared to real life, I can't say as I work in a small community hospital. I'm still glad to see quotes from the Bible and its tenants being used and treated fairly in a fictional series. The quote from "1984" was a bit freely because I had read an article about it earlier. Both were using "1984" in the same context. My hat's off to the writer.
With the COVID 19 all around, it was hard to read, and even harder not to read this book... so I read it. It’s even scarier as I am in an on-line Bible study of Revelation right now. We are wondering when you started writing this! I definitely recommend this to all believers and especially to non-believers... and read Revelation with it!! Then, if you don’t know God, take some time to seriously get to know Him and invite Him into your heart! Thank you Mark, from the entire Bible study group!!!
mark again captivates audiences from page one. using what I believe to be several spiritual gIfts. Enjoy the riveting and prophetic story as it brilliantly unfolds, but take head , you will not only be unable to put this book down but you will have to have book three ready when you do finish. as a writer myself I'd love to write with half the talent that Mark does.I pray this gets made into a movie
I love Marks books ... He's never quite lived up to the 1st book of his I read (Seven Cows, Ugly and Gaunt: A Post-Apocalyptic Saga of America's Worst Nightmare) ... but this was nearly as good... I really think these are great to read as it brings you an awareness of how to view how prophecy may play out... This story line is particularly good as the 1st domino to fall probably will be the ever weakening economy ....
So many things in this book are what is happening now. There is much information given if you listen closely to Rev. There is a great example of love and peace by Stephanie. The respect for each other is something that is missing in these troubled times. Josh is a very good example of a strong leader. Great Second Book . I hope there's a third. Thank you.
I would say I don’t know how he does it but it’s obvious that he gets his gift from God and his inspiration from current events and the word of God. Being a fan of Mr. Goodwin comes with both pleasure and sorrow as he makes us see the possibilities for both good or ill in our country and in the world. Prescient, yes!
An interesting story that is thought provoking in the way that it weaves in enough of what is currently happening so that the story could potentially happen. The biblical references make you pause and think about what is happening and how you are behaving. Can't wait for the next book in the series.
This series is not a good idea to read before retiring for the evening. How did the author know we would be going through a pandemic at this time? This book should really awaken believe ers to the age we are living in? Lord have mercy on us.
We need to be ready and prepared? I recommend this series , it will keep your interest, I am certain it will.
This book was hard to put down. I read it through in one day. Like all of Mark's books it brings into focus the coming calamity. Prepare for the worst and pray for the best. We have entered some sort of timetable and many of the events in Revelation are unfolding before our eyes. This book may be a blue print.
The second in this series is even better than the first, and I am certain the third will be just as exciting. I very highly recommend all of Mark's books. You will never be disappointed. We have read almost all of his end-times series. We plan on reading the rest of them!
I’ve been reading a lot of different books about the end times but this is the first one that has gave me goosebumps and made me think really hard if I’m ready for something like this to happen thanks and I’m gonna keep reading your books you have become my favorite author
I really liked reading this book but found it hard to read at the same time since so many of the issues talked about in the book paralleled events that are happening now. The author did a great job of addressing them in an easy to understand format. I would definitely recommend reading it!
The first book had a lot of "interviews " aka a boring read, but the story itself was interesting which surprised me as I usually like historical clean romance. This one was good and less of the interviews that seemed to drag the first one. All in all a very interesting series.
Amazing stories that have the capacity to actually happen following end times prophecy. No one knows when the end times will occur but it will come like a thief in the night. After reading Mark’s books, you will want to be prepared. If you don’t already, you may also want to read and reference the Bible.
Mark Goodwin has done an excellent job of creating a possible scenario of events that could take place in the Latter Days. Even if one believes in a Pre-Tribulation Rapture, the book was entertaining as well as thought provoking. I’d definitely recommend it.
This story gave me goosebumps as we are living this very thing. It seems as if the world is headed for major civil war. However I pray daily that God will turn it around. Great story! Regardless, everyone needs to be prepared!
Continuing story of conflict because of apocalypse and the collapse of cities. People will do anything to try and survive and for most part will attempt to take it the easy way.
I absolutely loved how the author placed Bible verse throughout the book. Many folks are struggling and haven't surrendered to Jesus. This book is a telling tale of how the end may come to be. Very relevant in our current days.
The saga continues with this live able “family” whom you root for and cry with. This story hits home, particularly in 2020, it’s an eye opener that also gives you tips on prepping.
Another great read by Mark Goodwin well worth your time.
I enjoyed reading this book very much. I would recommend it to all those who like clean reads as well as apocalyptic books. I really wasn’t expecting the thing to happen the way it did with Stephanie but, well things happen. Was glad to see that thing happened with Mikell and Lindsay though. Looking forward to the third book in the series.
Well written and thought out. The engineer in me didn't have to cringe over an authors' ignorance. It's so refreshing to read a Christian author who is this good! Maybe now I'll start prepping, if it's not too late.
Even from a non rapture background the story holds your attention. The End Times will be tough no matter how it pans out and maybe they aren't that far off??? Enjoy an exciting time without insulting carnalism.
If you don’t believe and read this.. What is the worst thing that could happen if you subscribe to the Bible’s teaching and it’s untrue- vs - the worst thing that could happen if you don’t believe.. and it is true.
The story is ripe with anxiety and tension, strong personal connection between key characters and loss for all in one way or another. While I enjoyed the book, I don't strictly subscribe to some of the political thoughts presented. It's definitely worth a read.
