Letting down her guard and opening her heart is the deadliest challenge she's faced yet. Can Rory finally show her that he's truly found his match?
I was born in a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri named Bridgeton. During my time in Missouri, I explored the Ozarks, swam in the Mississippi River, played kickball and endless games of hide and seek with the neighborhood kids. Spending summers in Kentucky with my Grandmother, Ruth, are the fondest childhood memories for me.
At the age of thirteen, my family moved to Wisconsin to learn to farm. Yes, learn to farm! That was interesting. Taking city kids and throwing them on a farm with twenty-eight cows purchased from the Humane Society because they had been abused, was interesting. I learned to milk cows, the ins and outs of a breeding schedule, feeding schedule and the never ending haying in the summer and trying to stay warm in the winter. Our first winter in Wisconsin, we had thirty-six inches of snow in one storm and were snowed in our house for three days! Needless to say, I wasn’t loving Wisconsin.
I am now married with four children and three grandchildren. I have learned to love Wisconsin, though I still hate snow. Wisconsin and the United States are beautiful and my husband and I travel around by motorcycle seeing new sites and meeting new people. It never ceases to amaze me how many people are interested in where we are going and what we have seen along the way. At every gas station, restaurant and hotel, we have people come up to us and ask us about what we are doing and offering advice on which roads in the area are better than others and great rides others have been on if we are interested.
I come from a family of veterans. My grandfather, father, brother and two of my sons and one daughter-in-law are all veterans. Needless to say, I am proud. Proud to be an American and proud of the service my amazing family has given.
I like that this starts in the middle of some action. Rory "Ace" Richards is reunited with Alice "Al" "Red" Beggs Tucker nearly two decades after their short relationship dissolved in the midst of danger. To say she's unhappy to see him may be an understatement! 😂
This story has turns and some interesting twists that kept me engaged. Intrigue, double-crossing and searing passion made a great combination which ensured I didn't want to turn away.
There are drop-ins from other characters in the series, most notably Ford Montgomery, but this is mainly focused on the Lynyrd Station PD, Red, and Rory as they search for the source of drugs coming into the small(ish) town. Big 3 is more of a side thought for the bulk of the story.
I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators are really good. Rose Dioro and Troy Duran are two narrators that I like a lot, I just wish the narration was in duet.
As a side note, if you're planning to binge on the audio, be aware that these two narrate the entire series. It's not a bad thing, but personally, I need to take breaks in between books when this happens so I can try to get the last character / book out of my head.
A thrilling read with 2nd chance at Love & Dangers in every corner!
ARC received For a Honest review.
A LITTLE ABOUT THE STORY: Rory ‘Ace’, widow + small town cop. Alice ‘Red’, divorced + DEA agent. Both met in military years ago & dated for 2 months, though things didn't end well, when her base was changed.
Now years after they are both on the same case, to bring a drug cartel down. But Things take a dangerous turn when Al is targeted. They are ever so close at finding the culprit, if they don't get themselves killed 1st.
But what after the mission?Through Hits, danger calls And Potential leads..These two have been slowly falling in love (again) & finding their flame never died. Will they grab their 2nd chance? OR Walk away?
Things I Especially Loved❤:
1)Their strengths! She's fierce & spontaneous, he's grounded. They work well together. PJ have written great characters!
2) I'm glad they talked about old shit ASAP, 'cause at last it was not their fault. Though being angry was well caused.
3)The story was fast paced! We see some previous couples, though I haven't read the series, it caused no problems for me to understand this story.
4)I loved that she followed her gut instinct! Without them, they wouldn't have been able to catch the culprit. I'm happy he was with her! She'd had died otherwise..
5) Throughout this case, Her living in his home, we came to know a lot about these two! They've got great chemistry🔥
6) Dirt in the PD! Who thought a inner person and A trustee friend will be the enemy?
7) Loved the ending And his proposal! Many few get a 2nd chance, I'm happy These two grabbed it❤ (such a beautiful home!)
Rory: Finding his mate P.J. Fiala Mrs Fiala is writing my favourite genre, romantic suspense? There is always trouble coming somewhere is these books. In this case it is also a second chance. I love her writing it is vividly and it has a swift paste. It has just enough details of the surroundings that you can picture it in your head. It is contains hot scenes and suspense an ofcourse a happy ending. I became a big fan of hers this year. I recommend.
Another great story to this series. This is a second chance romance. I was hoping for Rory's story when he was introduced in this series and I was not disappointed. P.J. always leaves me wanting more. Rory and Alice had a relationship years ago when they were both serving in the military. Years later Rory runs into her while chasing a perp. Both of them are pissed at each other for how things ended, but due to circumstances beyond their control they are assigned to work together and a threat to Alice's life now has them living together. The chemistry between these two are still there and so are their feelings. Is Rory willing to risk getting his heart broken again if Alice leaves once they solve their case. Loved the story and the characters. Ford makes a little cameo. Looking forward to hopefully more of this series and reading more of these characters. I listened and loved the audio just as much as I loved it when I read it. Narrators did a great job. Love listening to Troy and his deep masculine voice.
I received an ARC and volunteered to leave a review.
Another enjoyable read by PJ Fiala. Alice left Rory years ago to further her career and now she is back helping Rory and his police department break a drug ring involving the Santorino Family. Full of action and suspense this story will have you glued to every word and unable to put down. Rory and Alice had chemistry before and now it is even stronger. Both moved on during the years they were apart but now that they are together again they pick up right where they left off. But will the long distance between them factor into them being together or will they find a solution that will have them together forever. With the promotion hanging in the balance for Alice what will she decide to do? They went their separate ways years ago but will they take advantage of this second chance at romance and forever.
Outstanding book! I love the entire series and each one is better than the last. Finding His match has an exciting plot that keeps you involved to the very end. As always the anticipation keeps you turning the pages. It’s an intriguing storyline with many twists, surprises and very well written. The main characters are well developed and have an interesting relationship. I also like it when characters from past books show up and help. However, you do not need to read the books in order, they are related but not dependent on the other stories. Absolutely riveting. I could not put the book down until I had read it in full. This was her best one yet.
I loved Alice and Rory's story and I love a great second chance romance. I especially love when the h participates in the story and doesn't just need to be rescued/saved by the H. This story was non-stop action. And can easily be read as a standalone. The only problem is I would call this a novella - that's not a bad thing but it's just a bit shorter than I usually like so be warned. I'm also picky when it comes to repetitive sentences and this book contains a few.
The author picked two great narrators for this series - Troy Duran and Rose Dioro - they are excellent and their voices are just perfect.
After how many years, a wife for him and a husband for her .. can they be friends again, civil to one another or more to each other.
Al to her friends .. lol .. left for a job but in her mind in a long distance relationship BUT when Rory found out she had an option to stay and not be long distance her gave her what he thought she wanted .. DISTANCE.
Now present and working on a case together can Al and Rory find a happy medium or will the past be in there present or can they get past it ALL and see where life leads them ??
The give and take these two have shared will pull at your heart .. a widow and a divorce .. can they make it work with all of there baggage ??
These two will make you laugh and cry at the same time BUT the one goal they both share is happiness and so much love to give !! With there tough jobs they need happiness and love in there lives !!
It was great seeing Ford and they guys too !! Fantastic Installment !!
This is book 4 in Fiala's Big 3 Security and oh my stars. Each read is my new favorite in the series. While this can be read as a standalone I think you'll fall in love with these guys and the storyline enough to want to start from the beginning, you don't have to but....Also - these narrators are epic. Oh these voices just make me melt in all the right ways. Love, love, love this narration!
This is obviously Rory's story with Alice. It's a second chance romance as well as a suspense romance read / listen. Great twists and turns as well as action that will keep you engaged and compelled. I was captivated from start to finish and completely vested in the turn out and while I loved the HEA - I'm always left wanting more and more and more.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I voluntarily provided this review. *this review is based on the audio version of this read.
Although I've been listening to these out of order its been interesting to see who is where and how they wound up that way. I though this book was well written. Its very interesting to see to 'older' single people and how they survived through the hardships. Most contemporary fiction is written with 20somethings. I enjoyed the change of pace and mind set. This is my 3rd audio book with these narrators. You'd think their voice would get old BUT I get so into the book the I haven't even noticed it being the same narrators. The only thing I dont like in these books is that the curse words seem to pop up whenever and to me would be a much better book without them. There are only a couple of steamy scenes so the story is solid and has flows with the series well. I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with guidelines.
Rory is a character that if you’ve read the other books in this series you have grown to love while still be intrigued with what his story is. This forced proximity romance had me rooting for Rory and Alice! Rory had been busy working trying to rid his town of drugs and couldn’t quite get ahead of the criminals. Alice and Rory met when they were both in the service but didn’t end on the best of terms which made for an interesting reunion in the local police station. They worked through there issues while working together to solve the case. This book had laughs, suspense, action and a HEA. I think that Troy and Rose have quickly became two of my favorite narrators as they bring the characters to life and I feel like I’m right there with them!
Finding His Match is loosely connected to the Big 3 Security/Lynyrd Station Protectors series and would make a good stand alone if you hadn't read the prior stories. It takes place after the main threat from the previous books has been addressed, and only briefly mentions any overlapping characters. The story was closer to novella length, which is exactly the way I like second chance, though the ending came up a bit suddenly in terms of the characters' feelings.
I listened to the audio version with the very talented team of Troy Duran and Rose Dioro. I've listened to this narrator duo with other PJ Fiala books and they both consistently deliver high quality performances.
I received a copy of the audiobook at my request, and the opinions here are my own.
Rory and Alice were friends and then dated for a couple of months before she took a voluntary transfer to help her career. Rory didn't find out until after she left that she volunteered to go. After a lot of hurt feelings life goes on so he was married six months later and eventually she married someone else. Now she is divorced and he is a widower, they meet again caught in the crossfire of a drug deal. She is with DEA and he is a detective. When they find her informant dead the next morning, she is in danger and the Captain tells Rory to keep her at his place with all the security he has set up. Now they are given a second chance at love but what will happen when the case is solved and she goes back to Indianapolis for her job?
I love a second Chance story.... Alice Tucker has a dangerous job as a DEA agent. She’s sent all over the place to help out different law enforcement agencies. Her new assignment takes her to Lynyrd Station and into the arms of the man she left behind years ago to further her career. So why are all of those feelings she’s kept bottled up resurfacing now? Detective Rory Richards main focus now is his job. He doesn’t have time for much else. The last person he expects to see is Alice (Red) Tucker. She’s the woman Rory compares everyone he’s ever met to. None of them captured his heart like she has. Can they have a second chance. The chemistry is still hot enough to start a fire. The love is stronger than ever. But once the case is over will she leave again and break his heart? As they get closer to finding the drugs and dealers the more dangerous it become for them. Can they catch the dealers and have the future they both want? “I voluntarily received this arc book for an honest review”

Another great second chance romance story to add to this series. Rory (is a detective) and Alice (a DEA agent) had a relationship years ago when they were both serving in the military though it didn't end well. Now she is back helping Rory and his police department break a drug ring involving the Santorino Family. Both moved on during the years they were apart but now that they're thrown back together they pick up right where they left off and their chemistry is undeniable still! Now they must reply on each other to end the major drug problem infiltrating his home town, a task that proves downright dangerous to their lives and his heart. Will they forget about mistakes in past and give a chance for the future? A fabulous book. P.J. Fiala is an expert on how to mix romance, military and suspense!
Well-written; never boring This book moves at a cracking pace, and there is never overstatement of the past or of the relationship Al and Rory have/could have in the present. As second-chance stories go, this is probably my favorite because of this. The suspense itself also moves fast, with enough hints thrown out that you can have fun trying to get the answers first, but not too many that you yawn. And the ending … even this cynical reader was touched. It’s a book to read, to enjoy, to keep, and to reread.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
This is a very fast paced and suspenseful second chance story. Al is a DEA agent hoping for a promotion and is tasked with helping the policy in Lynyrd Station with their drug problem. But she'll also need to deal with Rory, a flame from long ago who got away, especially when the Police Chief orders her to stay at Rory's house for the night when it becomes apparent that she is a target of the drug dealer. There is more than one potential suspect and some surprises developed on the way to the resolution of what was happening in Lynyrd Station.
Get ready for an emotional roller coaster. She’s a DEA agent, he’s local PD. They have a history. Both were married after a tough break-up, emphasis on “were”. When fate has them working together again sparks fly! Great characters, edgy situations, a tale worthy of reading in one sitting!
You feel the anger and the draw as this fabulous story plays out – with the reader getting a front row seat!!
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
5 stars I received a free copy of the short steamy romantic suspense Rory: Finding His Match: Big 3 Security book 4 by PJ Fiala and this review was given freely. Suspenseful and action packed with vivid descriptions, a glimpse into Big 3 Security owner Ford Montgomery's life, and a touch of graphic violence. Widowed 42 year old ex- Marine and Lynyrd Station PD officer Rory ACE Richards' protective instincts arise when a sudden meeting with his first love, the divorced former Army now DEA Special, Agent Al Tucker aka Alice Beggs finds herself the target of an assassin.
I couldn’t put Rory: Finding his Match down! This book ends the Big 3 series, and it was suspenseful and sexy. I listened to and read this book, and in enjoyed it both ways. Rory and Alice’s second chance romance was excellent. They had gone their separate ways years before. Now they are together working to solve a drug problem in Rory’s town. What are the odds that the DEA would’ve sent Alice in? It doesn’t take long for protective feelings to resurface. It you like fast paced stories full of action and chemistry, this book is for you!
This is a fantastic second chance, action packed story. Alice and Rory were together in their early 20s but she moved to take a promotion and they both married someone else. Now Alice is part of the DEA and Rory is in the police force where they have to work together and, to keep her safe, live together. While someone is still selling drug in the area and want her dead, Rory is trying to keep her safe. When they find the baddies will they survive the encounter and have a future together? Great read.
A terrific second chance story with a touch of enemies to lovers thrown in. When Rory and Alice first run into each other again, sparks fly and not in the "good" way as they both have unresolved issues with their past. However, with forced proximity and evil lurking in the shadows with a sight on Alice, the two soon blow past their walls and find they still love each. Plenty of action, danger, and suspense in this fast-paced quick listen as these two find their HEA after all those years. Rose Dioro and Troy Duran as always provide awesome narration.
Squee! We get Rory’s story, and it’s a second-chance romance. A little like Jax and Dodge, Rory and Al do not play well together when we first meet them. Rather than oil and water, their partnership is a lot more like fire and gasoline: the right mix and everything’s perfect, but when it’s off, there’s gonna be trouble. I really enjoyed that we got to see how each other had matured through one another’s eyes. And that ending was just so stinking adorable. Now I need to dive in and read all the rest of the interconnected books/series.
Finding His Match is my favorite trope...2nd chances are always a blessing even if it doesn't start out that way. Loved the steamy, heart felt 2nd chance along with all of the feels, murder and mayhem that certainly keeps you on the edge of your seat😍😍😍😍😍 I volunteered an honest opinion for this book.
P.J Fiala once again brings us an action packed steamy story that sucks you in from the very beginning and keeps you intrigued till the very end. Alice and Rory have history and not all of it wine and roses, this 2nd chance romance takes you on a ride that will leave you filled with hope and a little hot under the collar.
Loved reading about Rory and Alice. Sometimes you don't get a second chance at things in life, but this second chance at love between Rory and Alice was such a good story. P.J. Fiala sure knows how to write a book that keeps you interested in wanting to know what happens next. Book 4 in this series was such a good addition to the Big 3 series.
This is the fourth book in the Big 3 Security series, a Romantic Suspense. Rory and Alice's story is entertaining, fast-paced, and action packed. This is a great second chance to love. I love the ending. This is a great addition to the series. Rose Dioro and Troy Duran did an excellent job with the narration. I enjoyed it.
Great read!! The characters and storyline are amazing and I have just loved this series! I also like that you get glimpses into the other agency. The author does a perfect job blending the two worlds, I'm definitely looking forward to more! Audio narration is also well done and enjoyable to listen to.
Another great romantic suspense in the Big 3 Security series. In this book, we met Rory and Alice when they are reunited on a case. This 2nd chance romance hit all the feels. It has an exciting plot that will keep you anticipating whats to come. The storyline is well written with many twists, surprises and great character development. As always, Troy & Rose did a fantastic job narrating.
This is another great book in the Big 3 Security series. It is just as good and suspenseful as the first books, but slightly different as Alice is a tough cookie, whereas the heroines in the first books are mainly sweet. This approach works equally well and I enjoyed this book immensely. Highly recommended!
