This book was very cute, and sad at the same time.
The first part, the backstory of Sanemi Shinazugawa and Masachika is both funny, heartwarming, and also heartbreaking. It really puts more of his character into perspective.
For the courtship of Haganezuka it was definitely a more funny tale, but provided perspective into the swordsmiths and how even for people who worked in the corps and their potential marriages and relationships, the public don't know about the existence of demons which makes it more difficult.
With Kotetsu and Muichiro it was...supposed to be heartwarming but I found it rather somber. While yes Muichiro did help Kotetsu fix Yoriichi type 0, it was a story about Muichiro having to come to terms with the fact that no matter what happens, he would die young. Being a character who is only 14, it was really sad to read.
The final excerpt being a little funny story of Kimtesu Academy was a good mood lifter after the more heavy topics in this novel. I've read and own all of the Kimtesu Academy mangas so I really appreciated this little tidbit and the characterizations of the AU characters.

The first two light novels in this series were fun and heartwarming but this third one hits you over the head like a sledgehammer.
This is SO SAD.
I wasn’t just tearing up—I was full-on crying at one point.
Between Sanemi’s backstory and Kanao + Inosuke’s bonding experience, I just fell apart. Both stories are so moving—and unexpectedly beautiful. They all deserved happy lives.
Further, these stories really show how Kanae haunts the narrative.
Though her character appears only seldom, it’s clear that she had such an impact on the lives of so many characters. She appears in so many of these stories. Her loss—it’s a big one.
These stories have done such a good job of demonstrating what Douma took when he killed Kanae.
But, also, through that, these stories demonstrate what demons take from us all—and why the Demon Slayer Corps and the Hashira fight so hard to stop them.
It’s wildly and unexpectedly good storytelling.
Highly recommend these novels! They’ll rip out your heart and you’ll thank them for it~
I read the English translation. The English title of this one (according to wiki) is "Demon Slayer: The Wind's Telltale Signs". The original title (Japanese) is "Kimetsu no Yaiba: Kaze no Michishirube".
This is the third light novel of Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba. I finished reading this first before the other two (even though this is the last to be published). I'm definitely gonna finish the first and the second light novels in several days ahead.
Like the title, the main character of this light novel is the Wind Pillar, Shinazugawa Sanemi. The first chapter of this light novel focuses on his story with his now-deceased bestfriend, Kumeno Masachika. Kumeno Masachika himself appeared briefly in the manga in Sanemi's backstory/flashback scenes.
However, like the other light novels, this book also contains other stories about other characters, although Sanemi's story is the longest and the deepest.
It has been ages since the last time I read Japanese light novels. Reading this, I feel like reading fanfiction but canon, and it makes me so happy since I'm currently (and forever will be) in love with this series. The stories here are faithful to the events in the manga--I still remembered the manga's scenes well since I just finished reading all those 205 chapters of the manga several days prior. These stories dig much deeper though, with its narration and description. Novels and mangas have different style of storytelling, right?
There are five stories in this light novel:
1. The Wind's Telltale Signs - the story of Sanemi and Masachika, their brotherly relationship, and the event when they went to a mission together (the mission that killed Masachika). It's a dark and serious story, quite sad too. Reading this will make us understand Sanemi better, even love him more. :')
2. Haganezuka Hotaru's Matchmaking Session - this is a short, funny, but heartwarming story about the hot-headed swordsmith, Haganezuka Hotaru. He was forced to go to a matchmaking session arranged by Tecchin, Kanamori and Kotetsu. Of course the matchmaking session didn't go well.
3. The Flower and The Beast - a story about a formed friendship between Inosuke and Kanao. This one is also heartwarming. It happened before the event in the manga and referred to that scene too, even completed it and gave some more depth into the scene. We will be shown the more understanding version of Inosuke here.
4. Promise of Tomorrow - this is a direct continuation of the events in the manga, the Swordsmith Village Arc. This story tells about Tokito Muichiro, This story shows a great character growth of Muichiro that will make us smile widely.
5. Kimetsu Academy Tales: Night Strolls - in the light novels, there's always a chapter that sets in Kimetsu Academy, a middle/high school where our characters go to as students or teachers. This story tells about Uzui, Rengoku, Kanae, and Tomioka--teachers at that school--who took a night stroll in the school to investigate some weird occurrences that may harm the students. It's a light and fun story that you don't need to worry about--no tragedy, no blood, no mutilated body, no heartbreak. But a demon is still there haha.

I enjoyed this light novel so much. The characters are so in-character. I can imagine the scenes in this light novel as a manga/anime visual in my head. I also love Yajima-sensei's writing. Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba is a manga series that full of heart, and this light novel also handles the story that way. This light novel is different media from the manga or anime, but it doesn't lose the "heart" that Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba has in its core story. It's so well-written, thoughtful, and presenting the deeper exploration of the characters without ruining them at all. This light novel completes the manga series in the most beautiful way.
Ngakak sih disini. Uzui ngajakin Kanae uji nyali karena dia guru baru tp ternyata malah Uzui yg dikerjain sama para iblis mana pake nyamar jd Tomioka dan Rengoku 🤣 dan ketahuan kalo Kanae sebenernya malah excited sama cerita horor 🤣 (Knp sih di sini malah gak ada momennya sama Sanemi wqwqwq 😂😂)
I picked this up expecting a spin-off manga, and was put off by the prose at first. After reading through about thirty pages, my annoyance lifted. This was, surprisingly, fantastic!!! I loved all the little short stories. I had just enough context from watching the show to grasp the different characters and their backstories on my own, and the author provided plenty on top of that.
My babies aahhh this was such a sad novel in some chapters! the muichiro one brought tears to my eyes. I feel sad whenever I get reminded of how young he was when he died. He had his whole life ahead of him, especially with him being friends with Kotetsu now, but nope ☹️
Kyojuro Rengoku, the man you AREEEE i love him so much he’s so cute

I read second novel, it excites me much because i love demon slayer. Demon slayer novels are the reason that i started read "Novel" !!! I like this genre because it is good for you since you can have imagine if you read this book from the genre like me. < 3
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the novelization of Kanao and Inosuke after the infinity castle. I thought that was such a perfect addition and I PRAYY that they add it into the anime and do it justice. Read for Sanemi and Masachika, stayed for Giyuu and Tengen antics

EVEN BETTER THAN THE LAST!! Starting off with the Sanemi story really got me in the feels. And I loved the Inosuke and Kanae tale as well. Also, ghost hunting?? 💯
