Courtney grew up in Baltimore and is pretty sure she threw her ability to give a f**k into the Inner Harbor long before high school. Like almost every writer on the planet, she started writing at a very young age. Her “way with words” led to her being the go-to person for writing funeral speeches for a long time.
For fourteen years she worked full-time as a paranormal investigator and demonologist until retiring in 2014. During that time, she had three children, earned a degree in Psychology, and eventually got back to writing.
Today she lives in Middle Tennessee with her children and boyfriend, and spends the majority of her time writing things that make people smile while cutting their emotions deep, running her own professional editing company, and enjoying life . Repped by Ena Burnette at SBR Media.
I absolutely adore collaborative collections like this that share the proceeds from the book with a charity. I’m also touched by the fact that these authors came together for this book to honor one of our fallen veterans. We even see his picture as a raw-recruit Marine at the front of the book. I wish the authors would have shared a page or two of his story, as I'm sure I am not the only reader who is curious about the man this collection honors. Many authors contributed to this work, which I think is fantastic. The stories themselves range in the tropes they cover, but the common elements between them include having a veteran/active-duty service member and an animal that is pivotal to the character(s) and plot. All the stories are short, and some contain themes that could be troubling to some readers, especially ones with a military background. I liked some stories better than others, as is typical in a collection like this, but throughout all the stories, I appreciated that the authors created such heartfelt military romances. Blessings to all the authors in this anthology and to Ryan's family and friends.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
This is a review for the story Finding Grayson by Ashlynn Mills. This story was both heart breaking and heart warming. Since Grayson has got out of the military, he hasn't really felt like he belongs anywhere. His PTSD has also forced him to keep his relationships simple and very brief....living alone has become his hell. Due to a family tragedy, Grayson inherits a beach house and a Collie named Layla. He wants nothing to do with either of them...he can barely deal with himself. With the help of Layla and his extremely attractive (not to mention persistent) temporary neighbor Matthew, Grayson learns about finding "home", whether that be a place, a person, or even an extremely caring canine. This story was emotional and uplifting! It definitely hits you in the feels.
This story had me tearing up at times. It was both heart wrenching and heartwarming at times. Grayson is a retired military that that suffers from PTSD, nightmares and overall grumpiness. Then another military vet, Matthew, stumbles into his life. Can Matthew find a way to help Grayson? Will their bond be enough to stem Grayson’s nightmares?
Excellent anthology with lots of great stories. Kristine Allen's story Got Your Six is Owen and Tori's story. It all starts with a chance encounter that then turns into one night together and a second encounter that would change things. Definitely one that'll give some feels. Nikki Landis' Hell on Wheels featured Flint and it's a fast paced read with a twist that will leave you wanting more. Courtney Lynn Rose's story Chaos Under Fire uncovers a darkness, a secret that'll leave you on edge. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed reading all of the stories in this collection of fantastic authors. They're all well written with great storylines. Definitely recommended reading.
Remembering Ryan is an excellent collection of military romance based short stories from wonderful authors. Some of the stories are introductions to new books, others are just a story about an active or former service member, the animal that saves their sanity, and finding love at the least expected time and place. Below is a brief review of some of the stories found. Be aware that there are very sensitive topics covered in each one and this anthology is not suitable for readers under the age of 18 or those that may have triggers from certain events.
========== Broken Wings – Candi Fox ========== A heartbreaking tale of survival
Lila, a Marine veteran, heads to an island between Washington and Canada for the summer and is staying in a cabin owned by Rafe, a veterinarian and her best friend’s brother. As the story progresses truth bombs ae dropped, a series of events leads to a meltdown, and help could come from an unexpected front. Candi Fox wove love into a heartbreaking tale of survival. You become invested in the outcome and enjoy the ups while hoping to comfort on the downs.
========== Chaos Under Fire – Courtney Lynn Rose ========== Brings light to the dark life
Loreili, a stay-at-home mom, meets Matthew, a Navy SEAL, days after he comes home to bury his best friend and teammate. As the story progresses a secret is revealed, a helping hand is offered, and the safety they both seek could be just around the corner. Courtney Lynn Rose brings light to the dark life both characters find themselves in. I am wondering what happens next as this one ends in a cliffhanger, and I hope I don’t have to wait until 2022 to find out.
========== Got Your Six – Kristine Allen ========== Review title
Tori, an oncology nurse, is chasing a dog across a bridge when the dog grabs a hold of Owen, a Marine veteran. As the story progresses thoughts are shifted, a second meeting is happenstance, and keeping a promise could destroy them both. Kristine Allen’s Got Your Six provides clarity and sweetness to an otherwise harsh romance. I would love to read more about the Demented Sons and will definitely check them out.
========== Rescuing Savior – Darlene Tallman & Liberty Parker ========== Draw you in
Kaleigh, a traveling therapist, come home to help Cruz, a veteran, through his transition to civilian life. As the story progresses a secret reunion brings purpose, fighting their attraction to each other is not the only fighting that is happening, and bridging the gap may cause more problems than solutions when push comes to shove. Darlene Tallman and Liberty Parker craft stories that draw you in and this one is no different, add in the service animals and you can’t go wrong.
This is a charity anthology honoring Ryan Kinch who was a US Marine. The books in this anthology are: Saving Forest, Broken Wings, Chaos Under Fire, Finding Hope, Got Your Six, The Dead Call to Us, Rescuing Savior, Finding Grayson, Surrendered Service, Finding Jobe, My Hearts Home, Remember When, In the Blink of an Eye, For the Love of Zeus, Breakers Release, Hell on Wheels, Mann's Best Friend, and Courage.
This collection of stories was great. I enjoyed all of them and have look into the authors other books. There's a wide range of stories that center around veterans and animals. Some of them are romance stories but not all of them. Be prepared, there are definitely some stories that are very open door and graphic sex scenes. All there are stories with cussing. Some stories cover issues like domestic abuse, rape, suicide, PTSD and depression. Some of the stories just about broke my heart. There were definitely a few that made me cry. Overall a very good selection of short stories to raise money for a great cause.

I was given a free arc copy of Finding Grayson from Ashlynn Mills and absolutely loved it, 5+ stars. The rest are a sweet bonus. This is the only m/m. The rest are all f/m.
Matthew is a super sweet Vet who's boyfriend betrayed him in the worse possible way. Greyson is a injured retired military vet who suffers ptsd, nightmares and pushes lovers away. He comes home just to bury his brother and tie up lose ends but when Matthew mistaking comes over with food to welcome the new home owner and hears about Greysons situation he offers to help and they bond. This has all the feels from high to low. Will break your heart and put it back together. I actually yelled WHY??? at one point lol. I loved it. I highly recommend.
Up to now I only read one story of this anyhology, it was Finding Grayson by Ashlynn Mills. Coming from a family with many cats and dogs, I see how important animals are for people, especially if you carry heavy memories with you or are lonely. Finding Grayson is one more loving and sensitive written story about that fact. In their case the dog helps to open Graysons heart and to find a new love and future after many traumata he carries with him. It is an honest written shortstory with carefully selected words. It is heartwarming to see how an animal can become a friend and a family member. After reading this one shortstory, I became very very curious about the whole anthology and will read the others too, which are mostly new authors for me. A full 5 stars from my heart for the love of all animals.
To honor not only Ryan, but his undying love for animals, every story in this anthology will feature both a veteran as well as an animal that is central to their story. There is no denying the incredible emotional support and healing power of an animal’s love when paired up with a partner who needs help either out in the field, recovering from trauma, or just finding unconditional love and acceptance from a non-judgmental animal partner. Some of these stories may be difficult to read, but they should be uplifting as well. Lives are saved, during battles or after returning home. Never give up hope. Everyone is worthwhile and loved by someone, even a four-legged critter who puts its trust in your hands so it can take away some of the burden.
The stories here are fictional, but the reader may find them pretty close to the truth.
I loved each short story in this anthology. This whole anthology was heartbreakingly good and uplifting. I was very emotional and moved while reading this anthology. I found some new authors to follow and some authors that I have been following for a while have help with this anthology. I truly believed this was a cause and I want to thank all the authors to participated, all the vets, active duty military, and all the ones that we have lost and all their loved ones. I would highly recommend this anthology and this cause. Just a FYI-Some books in this anthology were just the beginning and you have to wait for the author's next book however, some were stories were complete.

If your like me, it took me just over a week to finish this 5 stars plus collection. Happy reading everyone!!
This is a wonderful anthology, with (quite literally) something for everyone, a great variety. There are a number of new-to-me authors, and a few that I'm already familiar with. All the stories are well-written, with terrific characters. I fell in love with many of the service animals depicted. I shed a few tears as I read. As the daughter of a USAF career pilot, the mother of a USAF fighter mechanic, and an animal lover, all of the stories touched me in some way. I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to read this book.

I bought this book to support a wonderful cause as I come from a military family and have a cousin who trained dogs for veterans. Author's who I'm a fan of Janine Infante Bosco, Erin Osborne, Courtney Lynn Rose, Darlene and Liberty Parker I thoroughly enjoyed your stories and can't wait to see more of them in the future. I also enjoyed the stories of the other authors as well. I cried, cheered for them, my heart broke into pieces for other. If you want to support a wonderful cause then but this book.
I really did enjoy the stories at the beginning of the book because they seemed to stop in a logical place. The more I read though it seems that the ones from the middle towards the end seems to leave you hanging. Which was disappointing because they were all excellent stories too. Each story has a vet and dog and they meet someone fall in love ect. I do look forward to more stories from all of the authors in this book.

This is a large collection of original stories that are for a wonderful cause. The collection is to honor Marine Veteran Ryan Kinch who died in May 2020. The proceeds go to a good cause in his memory. All the stories feature a veteran and an animal that is there for them. I enjoyed all of the stories. Some these are introductions or prequels to other stories and others are stand alone stories. I enjoyed most all of them. I love the characters. The stories do have some challenging subject matter but they are worth reading.
Remembering Ryan will have your emotions all over the place as you read these well written short stories of the soldiers and the dogs they have in their lives, some of them will be continued in another book. Chaos Under Fire, Defender of Angels #1.5 is written by Courtney Lynn Rose and one of the must read stories in this set. I know I will be reading these books again and looking for more of some of them. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This massive collection of stories features many different authors as well as writing styles. Some of these stories are short. Some of them are introductions into a series. Some are sweet and some are steamy. I think my favorite story in the collection was “Rescuing Savior.” This was about friend to lovers Seth and Lee. Together they are working on training dogs to pair with vets dealing with PTSD. Their friendship begins to develop into more and it was a great story.

An excellent collection of stories and about the K-9's who help with moral support and help with PTSD. Some of the authors I have read before and others are new. I would have given a 5 star, but some stories left me hanging with no ending to the story except to wait for their next book to come out for their book. How do you honor a friend and Vet? Well, you put together a phenomenal group of writers, like Courtney Lynn Rose, and honor him with some incredibly touching short stories. I haven't finished through all of them, but I'm just so impressed with the first few stories that I've read. I highly recommend you read and support a wonderful cause. Rest in Peace, Ryan! Courtney Lynn Rose and all the other authors did you proud!
It was good to delve into this anthology honoring a military veteran and I enjoyed all of the stories I have read so far and am looking forward to the rest that I still have left. Especially now, stories around service are heartening. Thank you to all of the authors and most especially to Marine Veteran Ryan Kinch.

***This is for Finding Grayson by Ashlynn Mills***
I had so many emotions while reading this story. There’s grief, sadness, anger, sadness, and lots of love. I loved these two finding their way to each other with the help of one incredibly adorable dog. Sometimes you just have to let the universe tell you what you need.
This is a compilation of different stories from different authors. All for a great cause. I liked all of these stories and found some new authors to check out. This was a quick read and greatly worth picking up. You can’t go wrong with this book.

Just the reason why this anthology was put together had my eyes crying out but then the stories also grabbed me and through me into a plethora of emotions, took my heart, and then put it back together. The stories are heartwarming and heart wrenching but also passionate and full of emotion. I couldn't get enough and practically devoured the whole thing.
This is a great military anthology by some amazing authors for a good cause.
This review is for Chaos Under Fire by Courtney Lynn Rose. This story hooks you right from the start. A navy seal and a house wife with a terrible secret...will help be accepted?
