Andre Clarke is painfully accustomed to being in control. He’s the problem solver, the “responsible” brother, the one who keeps everything around him in order.Until Drew Dawson steps in to turn him upside down.Andre may be used to doling out commands, but Drew isn’t one to take them. Two very different people, with a shared goal… if only they can play their roles.
This was a dynamic I didn’t know I needed. And Christina C. Jones has me craving for more.
This follows a hero who just wants to give up control since he has so much of it in his life. The brunt of the decision making when it comes to the business he shares with his brothers falls on him.
Our heroine needs control in her life after experiencing a lack of. So she’s taken on the role of becoming a female dominatrix. Being in a previous abusive relationship has fuelled that role even more.
These two meet and everything just falls into place. In the most delicious of ways, let me tell you. 🫠
I’m actually gonna need CCJ to write a whole book - better yet, a series - about a kink club because this? was it!
Andre and Drew had an exotically sexy relationship with an inescapable passion. The theme of each of their encounters included an unexpected and delicious feat. In this second installment, we met Clarke number two. And the powerful reach of the Clarke family still wasn't enough to make a feisty temptress see things Andre's way. I enjoyed her blog post and frank reviews. Their other side was titillating, and I would've never guessed the extracurricular activities would mirror one another's. The visit from characters from previously released books adds to my joy—another one for the books.
I'm definitely in the minority but this book was meh. The main character had some interesting, conflicting personality issues and the main main practiced some serious restraint. They didn't really fall in love in the traditional sense and the book ends pretty abruptly when you think they might have the conversation. I've read CCJ before and liked other works but this one just didn't hit the right notes for me.
An exchange of power between Drew and Dre. Rules were set in place but you know rules are bound to be broken. I loved Drew’s confidence she didn’t let her past define her. Dre was very understanding and adaptable. I wish we got more of them
I was told I would like this book and she didnt lie y’all. I was held captive from page one. Food editor Drew Dawson survived a terrible relationship with a man that wanted to control her every move. She took her control back by joining an exclusive underground club. She meets Andre Clark, owner of 81st and Clark restaurant who desires to relinquish that control that Drew desperately needs. Please lets take a moment of silence for Drew MF Dawson! She gave me major boss vibes by displaying confidence, sass and an unapologetic attitude. This begs the question, Where are all the black fem-doms? I want to be where they are. What I loved the most? Andre and Drew complimented each other with a smoldering heat that burned the pages. Their power exchange, humorous exchanges, and effective communication had me shimmying with excitement. However, I felt that some of Drew’s cautious antics were very childish and manipulative. I felt she could have achieved her goal with less drama. Special shoutout to the author for painting a magestic picture of the fictional Tigress restaurant. I was so impressed with the arrangement that I willed this place to be real. Reading about Red Stripe ,Ting and Jerk Chicken definitely took me back to my Caribbean roots. I loved it. Overall this was a sexy, fun and kinky read. Christina gave us a black couple in the BDSM world that complimented each other in every way.
This was a quick, steamy read. The Clarke brothers are the perfect leading men. They’re sexy, smart, and powerful. I especially loved how Andre and Drew found an unconventional way to counsel each other. They were both considerate and understanding while helping the other to cope. It made their matchup even more attractive for me.
I did not finish this book not because I thought it was bad. It's because I wasn't interested in reading this particular content. I prefer more romance, love stories. CCJ is a writing genius, so no doubt this book was going to be great. Maybe I'll read it in the future. Gave it four stars cause it's CCJ.
Drew and Addison are in an interesting situation, but things change, when they really see who the other person really is. They hook up with each other but their feelings start to change and so the relationship. Drew came out of a terrible relationship and she just wanted to be in control and Andre loved control. Two people that wanted different things, figured out that when you want to be someone and it works, it's ok to make some changes. I loved the brother Addision, but after reading about Andre and Drew, I loved them more. They were a couple after my own heart!!! Another great read Mrs. Jones!!!
After reading this book, my faith has been restored in this series. I will admit that I did not have much hope for it after reading Collision Course.
Drew and Andre's story was quite interesting. I would have never expected Andre to be the type of man that would be into the BDSM world, but I really enjoyed the light BDSM play. I also really liked Drew, she wasn't overly annoying, she was really just being cautious as to not end up in another situation like the one she had with her ex.
Something I can say about Andre is I honestly expected him to be a lot more stuck up and mean, but I was pleasantly surprised that he wasn't and was a lot more open-minded and flexible than I expected, thus making him my favorite of the Clarke brothers.
I loved the chemistry that Drew and Andre had, and loved that they didn't really have any struggles when it came to their relationship. It was easy mutual and I loved every minute of it.
What kept this from being five stars for me, is the fact that the ending again felt pretty abrupt. But with all of that being said I still really really loved this book.
Unexpectedly good! I didn’t expect this storyline when I started this book but bay bey CCJ did the damn thing. I loved the leads, loved how they played off and complimented each other with their quirks. This was another dope novella from her. Loved it!
This book was a cute, fun and sexy read. CCJ gave us sexy, kinky and delight in each page. The characters were fun to read and the storyline was steamy and intriguing. I was not ready!!
Well, damn! A little something different (I think) from CCJ and I’ll be damned if she didn’t knock it out the park. I’m loving the Clarke Brothers. And Drew? My girl.
Good, quick, hot read. My only regret is that we didn’t get to see Jaylan get his a*s kicked, because the email that he sent? Sounded like he was begging for someone to lay hands on him, IMHO.
I really enjoyed this book. I didn't give it my usual five star rating because it felt unfinished like I did not get the entire book. It also left some stuff open. Maybe it's just me.
I couldn't put it down! I loved every second of this book it was different and the characters hooked up in the most unconventional way but, it was sexy and a great read. Loved it!!
The books are too short, hinting to underlying issues but never really going into them. The sex was often too sudden for my taste. Stories were interesting enough that I read all 3 books. I wanted more of the story
Controlled Chaos features middle brother, Andre Clarke. Andre is the responsible brother who has to have ever minute detail down to a tee. He leaves no stone unturned. He’s all about control…until he’s not. He meets his match in Drew Dawson, food editor who has a not so glowing review about Andre and his brother’s restaurant, 81st and Clarke.
I really enjoyed the dynamics of this book. The subject matter and how it was done is not something I’ve come across a lot so that was fun to read about. Drew is not to be played with and I absolutely enjoyed her character. Great read!
This had lots of potential but I felt there was too less to the story. A lot of things were mentioned but then never really dealt with. Like the ex of the fmc. Also the end felt super rushed. I usually love the books of Christina C Jones but I think this series just isn’t for me. Though I do have to mention I loved the bdsm aspect in this. I just wish there would have been a little more to it.
I liked Andre and Drew. The writing and the story are good. Their clashing personalities was charming and I liked how they complimented each other and found a middle ground of their control. I didn’t connect as much with these two though as I did with Addison and Samara though, but nevertheless I still had a good time.
Jokes aside, Controlled Chaos was a provocative departure from what I expected, which is saying a lot. Jones does erotica well, so to see her step out in this direction here was dope. My greatest critique is simply that I didn’t get more time with these characters because I’m greedy like that.
The newest installment drops in on Andre Clarke, one third of the trio of brothers behind 81st & Clarke. The food critic who popped up as a thorn in his side in Collision Course returns as a more constant presence in his professional and personal life. For her part, Drew is just trying to live her best life, not under the thumb of someone who has to be in control all the damn time. In reality, Drew’s desire to take the reins and Andre’s need to let go is what brings them together and makes them work.
My interest was piqued with the introduction of a “hyper-exclusive underground” club where Drew and Andre meet, unwittingly. It’s discreet (what happens here, stays here a la Las Vegas), and caters to a range of sexual needs and interests. Given the literary environment Jones has created for her characters, this club fits right in with Arch & Point and other spots as sultry and erotic without being trashy or crass. While it’s certainly an important setting, it’s not a focal point here. The fact that it never even gets named makes it even more alluring. I’m fully in support of Jones making it a spotlight of a few books … if the mood hits.
Controlled Chaos is a satisfying novella. It’s enticing and a bit surprising, too. I’m definitely recommending it; it’s a solid follow-up to Collision Course and sets some good expectations for Aiden’s story …
Kink anyone😏? Spicy, yet not too hot and I loved it.
Andre Clarke was, I guess, somewhat of a control freak at work and it weighed on him daily. Letting the reins go and letting someone have complete control was just what he needed; and he found it in her. Only thing was, once he realized who she was, he couldn't hold back and wanted more.
Drew Dawson struck me as someone whom needed control bc either she didn't have it at work or at home. Turns out, her ex was a control freak who berated her, and now she was taking that power back. I liked the mystery of "The Club" and the vibes of it all. The whole 'pleasure from pain' isn't quite my speed, yet if it works for them, go for it. Her ex, Jaylan, is a cocky one. I wish the book was a bit longer so the back story could be told, yet I'm glad Drew dodged that catastrophe, Yikes😬.
I loved that Andre let Drew take the reins, yet also made her feel secure in what they were building. I hope they keep open communication bc I think that's when Drew will pull back. I can see these 2 loving each other fast and having a family in no time.
Another Clarke Brother down, 1 more to go. Really good series. Really good read.
This was a well written story/novella grounded in the erotica genre. Andre was co-owner of a popular restaurant, and Drew was a food critic for the well-respected Sugar & Spice Magazine. Unbeknownst to both of them, they were intimately connected even before they knew each other's names.
Andre and Drew were hot as he** together. I liked them both and would've loved having the opportunity to spend more time with them.
My favorite thing about this novella were the callbacks to other works; the peek into the lives of characters that I really liked - Bianca from The Trouble with Love, and Cam from The Trouble With Us: A Tale Of Two Sisters. I loved seeing that Bianca is now pregnant and that she and Rashad are doing well (they are one of my favorite couples from the CCJ universe. I was also happy to see that Cam and Will are still going strong.
Andre and Drew both dealt with issues that affected their everyday lives and often found themselves either dealing with highly stressful situations or bottled-up aggression, but not having an outlet of release. I must say the place of their initial meeting was unique, yet it allowed them the space to experience the relief they simultaneously sought as well as needed.
Despite their unique situationship, through understanding and familiarity they reached a point where they found themselves both wanting to be in an actual relationship – controlled and chaotic, but perfect for them. CCJ has really done something with these Clarke Brothers, which I am enjoying so much. Oh, and I cannot forget the visit from the friends and family of Blackwood, as well as all the hot spots there!
Be sure to check in the Clarke Brothers – you will not be disappointed!
