Missing You, Missing Me

Rate this book
Cleo is good at two things: stealing the spotlight and always making the wrong decisions. From bad tattoos to a sudden elopement, Cleo is a mess who can’t help but be loved from everyone around her. Except for the one that matters, her husband.

Ethan is hurt beyond measure. Leaving home after losing his best friend and brother, he joined a band and traveled the world looking for someone to love his damaged soul. Turning to girls who can’t love and drugs that make him hate himself, Ethan is just as lost as Cleo is.

Forced to work together for a summer tour, Cleo and Ethan discover the old flame isn’t completely snuffed out. However, she can’t let go of her husband, and Ethan can’t let go of her.

How many wrong choices will Cleo make until she figures out how to make the right one?

Tylor Paige (she/her) is an Amazon Top 3 bestselling author of what her readers have lovingly labeled, whorror.

Tylor is proof that horror doesn’t have to be serious to be effective. It can be self-aware, playful, and at times romantic, while still telling a solid scary story. In blending her passions for both romance and horror she’s not only creating something that’s both risqué and bloody, she’s bridging the gap between the hopelessly romantic and the hopelessly haunted.

I didn't get much done while I was reading this book, I couldn't bear to put it down! Cleo and Ethan were lead singers of their own bands and met at a battle of the bands show, they were 16 and fell for each other hard. Their relationship ended when they were 18 when Cleo ran from Ethan because she didn't want to be tied down. Ethan was devastated and begged her to stay. She still ran.

Three years later they met again when their bands were on a summer tour, they even had to be on the same tour bus...awkward. It turned out that they still wanted each other but Cleo was married. Her husband was absolutely vile with a nasty temper and no qualms about assaulting her. I found the scenes of the assaults very difficult to read. Cleo was so annoying though!!! She stayed with her nasty husband despite what was going on and was running hot and cold where Ethan was concerned. I couldn't understand her reasoning and why she didn't kick her husband to the curb because he was cheating on her with his assistant! Anyway, I am happy to report that there is a wonderful, and quite spectacular, happily ever after, thank goodness! I will definitely be reading the other books in the series which tell the stories of Cleo's band mates.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I Loved It!!

Ethan and Cleo were both lead singers in their perspective bands and had known each other since they were young. Things just never seemed to work out for these two with Cleo even marrying someone else who was totally her opposite. Now after a few years Ethan and Cleo were going on tour together to battle it out over who would get top billing. Things with Cleo’s marriage weren’t what it was meant to be and Ethan and Cleo grew together only to be torn apart yet again. This time though there was much more going on in between them with this meeting.

This book was full of many surprises along with dealing with serious issues such as drug addiction, suicide and spousal abuse. I loved the look behind the scenes of bands on the road touring together and the music making. The friendships in this book were something only one could be ever so lucky to have. For a first time read of this author I definitely can’t wait to read the next book in this series!!

**A copy of this book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.**

When my co-editor asked me to do her a favor and read/review the book she had just finished editing, I said why not. I love finding new authors and the fact that it was a romance helped. I was not disappointed.

As the story opens we see Cleo, the main character, sitting with her bandmates watching the other band they are going on tour with arriving. Her stomach is all atwitter. She doesn’t know how she will react to running into Ethan. She hasn’t seen him since she got overwhelmed with their relationship and literally ran out on him. However, not before getting super drunk and getting each other’s names tattoed behind their ears. When she sees him, he is just as hot as before, if not more. She can no longer act on any feelings she has for him. After she ran out on him she meets and married Chris. Chris is an attorney at law and on the path to becoming a Senator. While she would never act on any feelings since she is married, she cannot say the same for her husband. The last she saw him he was having sex with his assistant, Holly. While she was on tour she barely heard from him and she never saw him until he showed up one night in Dallas. He roughly had sex with her and then left. Meanwhile, the attraction between Ethan and Cleo is growing and comes to a head in Dallas. After Chris left Cleo she went back to the bus and in the heat of the moment, she and Ethan had sex as well. Eight weeks later she gets the shock of her life and finds out she is pregnant. When the tour is over she goes home to Chris to play happy housewife. Things go from bad to worse when Chris becomes abusive and stays away from home for days on end. Will Ethan be able to come forward and tell Cleo how he feels? Will Cleo find the strength to leave her abusive husband before its too late?

Oh my oh my what a book. I literally could not put it down. I finished 70% of it in one day. The first 30% was a little slow so be prepared for that. However, once it gets rolling hold on to your hats because it moves out! What I loved about the book was the characters did not have sunshine and roses kind of lives. Ethan was addicted to coke and drank heavily. Eventually, he ended up in a rehab center, twice. Cleo has an unexpected pregnancy and a very verbally and physically abusive husband. Something that most books steer clear of. Their stories actually felt like something that could actually happen instead of something that you could only imagine in your dreams. The one thing that did wear on me was the number of bad things that happened to them. It was almost like they had all the cards stacked against them then we added one more thing. However, it was such a small thing that it didn’t even knock my star rating down. I am keeping this author on my radar for any of her future novels.

MISSING YOU & MISSING ME - Tylor Paige
I’m trying to rewrite this review to show some of the positive aspects & understand the destructive behaviors of this novel. I will tell you I have a lot of anger & resentment of the themes in this plot. Every time I get into the characters Ethan & Cleo, we find friendship, closeness. Which then turns into rejection, hurt & ongoing destructive behaviors & loss. From the beginning we have promoted, Ethan taking hard drugs. The band is constantly drunk & unsafe sex w/ multiple partners. All of course with the weakness of the woman.

The popularity of the fan base to their band idols. The record label wants to market their breakup & the Heartache that Ethan went thru when Cleo decides to leave him to marry another man.
So instead of them breaking up it ends with a happy ending. Because the fans believe in true love & want them together. They must create a new song based on Ethan's heartache of Cleo leaving. The only difference... it ends with a happy ending & film a video of that new song. It will go number 1 & put both bands on the map. To do that they have to have a passionate kiss on stage & in the video of this epic song they wrote The diva -pop star "the Duchess who was Ethan's fxxx buddy for a couple years after Cleo hurt him to be in the video. Instead she spreads rumors that they are still together.
Speaking of lies, Have the cheating lawyer husband come and drag his estranged wife back with false promises.
Maybe I'm just square or naïve when it comes to destructive, abusive behavior & so called family & friends pretending they don't know what is going on. But joke, ignore & pretend that crisis' going behind the scenes. This is how we help our loved ones?
We see Ethan's pain, rejection by physically hurting himself thru drugs. To the point of almost killing him! We don't read his real pain, over the loss of his twin brother, to suicide for being a trans... or the rejection he feels when his mother doesn't deal with the loss of her Son Evan's death & pretty much makes Ethan feel as though he is dead by not acknowledging him. Instead just plays wife to husband #2.
Ethan has to suffer the pain of not being able to acknowledge his own fatherhood which would give purpose to his life. Because the woman he still loves after 15 years of rejection, & missing opportunities of being happy. Feels their children are better off watching their mother be a abused wife by a man who they believe is their father, but never spends time with them. Because she feels that is more security staying with a rich abusive, cheating husband. Then attempting to make it own her own with her twins. That is safer for her twins. Sick~
Cleo choosing to stay married to an abusive, power hungry, cheating bastard. Doesn't make good reading for as long as this novel goes on.
All these very real, emotional. abusive, themes made me to stop reading to find out the ending for a few days. Just to much pain, sextual tension & manipulation on peoples feelings.

Part of the plot:
The two leads try to stay buddies, but attraction wins & Cleo starts to dream of a future w/ Ethan, considering she believes her marriage is over when she catches Chris cheating.
Then the video goes #1 & jealous, cheating Husband (Chris) decides to come around & take Cleo for some fun. He says he will change, go to counseling, it didn't mean anything. The typical garbage a cheater will say. She believes after 3 years of marriage she should keep trying. He try's to seduce her first she doesn't like it, why? She was just making out with Ethan. But of course her body does other things. Especially when he talks dirty.
Then the moment he is done with his dirty deed of fun, he pushes her away. Treats her like garbage the moment she doesn't follow his orders. Of leaving the band, the one thing she feels she is talented in & loves most her music... & won't leave the tour.
That is when the two face dickhead comes out with his vulgar behavior comes rolling out. Chris does nothing but ridicules his wife with abusive, critical, threating name calling. Says, he is the one that supports them. Her career is a hobby. While she is going on tour to show off her filthy lover to the world. While he is trying to become a senator candidate. She will not dress, have her hair died or use her so called stage name while he is her dotting wife. Why would she want that piece of trash over him. How dare she prances on stage & a video kissing Ethan. She vomits in the car because of his vial behavior & that is when he pushes, slaps her.
Of course there is so much more in that chapter. We want to hear. NOT!
Now let me explain- the reason I am not so thrilled about this story plot is it hits to close to home. So, this in some ways, could reflect that the author is a great writer. Because you are not just reading words, but emotions, sceneries, of real people & their pain.
Saying that I still feel that the chapters were way to long & drags on the pain & agony of these character's instead of getting solutions, help, love into the mix much sooner in the story.

Moving on when Cleo runs out of her brief time with her horrible husband. She runs into the arms of Ethan & decides to be dirty & vulvar behind a bus. Another part of this story I don't like. Even the character herself feels like a Slut, that is what we want a woman to feel? Plus we are not promoting safe sex. Cleo is worried after the consequences occur, & knowing her husband has been cheating. She could of given something to Ethan. Really we want to promote that too??
Now we all know what happens next.

Oh yes, let's not forget Adrian the one that will stand by Cleo because he cares about her. His was her first rejection of a man who leaves her on good terms for a guy.
He is the only sensible one in the band who wants what's best for both Cleo & Ethan. But he knowns when to push & when not to. You cannot force & horse to water. So he just keeps supporting Cleo & try's to convince her to leave her husband, Tell Ethan the truth about the children.
Nothing seems to work.
Read at our own risk. I'm just plan pissed of this story. Yes I know it's not real but the scenarios, destructive themes are real. Maybe that is why I took it so personally. When you relate to characters, then that expresses a good writer.

Many detours, misguided emotions are dealt with in this very long novel. However, with all the emotions I felt over these character's & the themes. I was determined to continuing reading to find out if they get a happily ever after. So despite my resentment of how long the chapters are. Thank God they made the last two chapters & characters meaningful. So Read at your own risk!!
Just note that my star rating is not based on technic or lack of story plot. I just find that we have many young people reading this & might think the behaviors in this novel is okay, cool. instead of learning from the mistakes, horrors of drug addiction, suicide and spousal abuse. So let me end it by saying their are many shocking issues in this book. But a wonderful, FINAL surprise at the end that might make it worth readers while to go to the very end of the novel & find out what happens to those characters. If you enjoy this type of drama then read the remaining series characters' stories after this one. The only interesting part was that fact that the band members are loyal to Cleo & each other at times

4.5 STARS!!

Oh my so glad my book twin recommended this book. I was hooked. Cleo and Ethan just WOW!! It was a long road but so worth it. I took a half of a star away just because I got so frustrated with Cleo. I mean I can understand why she was the way she was but it got frustrating waiting for her to open her eyes.
So glad Ethan ended up getting the help he needed and stepped up. He came back into Cleo's life when she needed him the most. So glad it worked.
I did love a quote from the book and it's Ethan talking to Cleo....so here it is.
"You're a song I can't get out of my head. A melody I hum in my sleep."
Swoon worthy right??? YES YES YES!
Just a warning though it has some trigger moments in this book, abuse and drug abuse so be warned.
Loved, loved, loved the supporting characters and can't wait to read their books. So this is going to be short cause I'm off to read book 2.
I recommend this rocker book.

I received a free ARC from Hidden Gems for the promise of an honest review.

It was interesting. Ethan and Cleo met when they were teens but didn't start their romantic relationship until they were eighteen. It ends when Cleo walked away and married another man. Ethan and Cleo are both lead singers in two different bands and 3 years after their break up, their record company sends them on tour together. Old feelings get rekindled but Cleo is still married. In the end Cleo walks away again. Five years pass when they are reunited. Secrets get revealed. Cleo and Ethan have to make a decision about their unresolved feelings.

There is a lot angst in the book. There are deep issues like drug addiction, spousal abusd, and LGBTQ issues. The book doesn't go indepth about these issues but they do add to Cleo and Ethan's struggles. It is a good book.

I love this roller coaster of a story line. The pull of true love that can’t be ignored no matter how hard you try. There were times I wanted to pull my hair out and just shout at Cleo ‘JUST STOP HE LOVES YOU AND YOU LOVE HIM’ but it all worked out the way it always meant to. Although Cleo was strong in the sense that she knew Ethan wasn’t ready for what was happening and needed to get right for himself before being ready for such a responsibility I wish she was stronger in her relationship with Christopher.

This book is not one for the faint of heart. This is raw, grueling to get through some of the complicated relationships sometimes, and just not an easy life to read about. But the characters are fantastic, the writing is good, and the story line is unique. Definitely check it out.

My gosh can we put anymore information in this rockstar book that has little to do with being a rockstar. We have cross dressers, junkies, breakups, senators, abuse, twins that’s just to name a few. Oh and secret babies. And I’m only 56% in.

Great Story & Narration🎧 Gripping & Heartfelt!

Missing You, Missing Me
By: Tylor Paige
Narrated by: Lexi Evans

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it straight to the end. This is my first book written by Tylor Paige and it will not be my last. She is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style, the storylines and characters she created are interesting, realistic and easy to relate to. I am a huge fan of rockstar romance and this fits the bill, the two lead characters, Cleo and Ethan, are musicians in different bands set to go on tour together. There is history between them and unresolved feelings, the record label and tour managers know this and use it to their advantage, both Cleo and Ethan are aware and go along with it. There was a lot of angst between them at first, Cleo had broken Ethan’s heart when she left him and wound up marrying Chris, her current husband. The two get along well on the tour and start to grow close again, Cleo’s marriage is not a happy one and she is having thoughts of ending it. But when her life is set to take another turn she makes a decision to play it safe and go back to her husband. Turns out to be another bad decision because he is far from safe. Five years later Ethan hits rock bottom and he picks himself up and goes back to make mends with people from his past including Cleo which brings him more surprises. Neither of these two had easy lives, each had their own demons to deal with, Ethans includes addiction and Cleo’s spousal abuse, in the end they wind of saving not only themselves but each other. There is never a dull moment in this book, the story is nicely plotted with the perfect balance of drama, angst, humor, heartfelt and emotional moments and a long time in the making romance. Tylor Paige, thank you for this great story and emotional rollercoaster ride. I am looking forward what comes next in this series and for the other members of Maria, Maria, especially Cleo’s best friend Adrian, he rocks!! I hope it comes to audio soon!

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Lexi Evans is a talented narrator and voice artist. She does a great job portraying the characters, bringing them to life, giving each their own distinct voice and personality, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. She sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all the character’s emotions and projects them into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the fabulous listen🎧

This book started out really good and I couldn’t put it down but then it took a crazy turn and I’m just not sure. Cleo and Ethan had history when they were very young. Their love affair ended with a bender and matching tattoos on their neck with each other’s name. Cleo takes off and marries Chris. So years later Cleo and her band are on the road touring with Ethan and his band. So good, I thought now it was getting good. Here is where I was a little disappointed. Cleo goes from fierce rocker chick with pink hair to June Cleaver in suburbia. I found it a little unbelievable that she would go back to a cheating husband who obviously did even love her. So she leaves Ethan again! She went from hot rocker badass to this abused sad housewife and I could have done without this. So the books goes from finding she’s pregnant to five years later and twins. There was just so much bad choices that it made her character look stupid. Ethan was like a spineless sad guy in love. I finished the book and I loved the ending.

This was so much more than a typical rock star romance. Sure there was sex, drugs, and rock and roll. But there was so much more! There were broken hearts and forgiveness and friendship and family---even though not in the traditional sense.
Cleo and Ethan were so incredibly broken due to emotional and physical trauma, but they fit so perfectly together....once it was the right time for them. This book was a story of unfortunate circumstances that continued to keep these two apart. I couldn't put the book down because I couldn't wait to get through this emotionally charged, gut wrenching journey this couple took to finally get to their happy ending.
This is the first book I have read from this author and I will definitely read more.

4 1/2 stars - This book about two singers (Ethan and Cleo) of different bands who were once lovers whose lives converge again when their record company books them on a tour together. The old feelings resurface between them but what will they do since Cleo is married? I personally don't read too many romance books that are written about bands but the bio caught my interest in this Hidden Gems ARC. I found the personal interactions of the band members along with the romantic interplay between Ethan and Cleo quite engaging and it was well written with a story line that kept my interest. This story does include drugs addiction and spousal abuse, etc. issues that are problems are couple have to overcome. Overall I enjoyed this ARC.

This is a rock star romance. Two broken souls that had a previous history. Cleo and Ethan play in two different bands going on tour together. The flame between them is still there. The only thing that is holding her emotions back, is that she is married. It's not easy being married to Chris , his domineering ways, cheating, is giving her second thoughts about staying with him.
I loved listening to this story, full of heartache, love, happiness and sadness. Lexi Evans does a great job bringing the characters to life,

This story gripped my heart and soul and never let go. I went through this experience with Cleo and Ethan. Both them had emotional scars that really affected their decisions. I was rooting through them the whole book. They did make it hard with the decisions they made. I hated Cleo's husband Chris. What a piece of garbage. I wanted to punch him myself! You will have frusterated feelings during the journey. But trust me it's worth it. Get ready for a book to make you feel every word. This narrator did a great job telling the story. With the authors great writing this is a home run of a book. And hello...rockstar romance! Heck yes. I couldn't get enough.

I attempted to read this book two years ago and put it down after the first chapter. Imagine my surprise when I picked it up in July off KU and just had it sitting in my TBR. Ok so I muddled through and figured out that the story, or rather parts of the story has been done before. By NO means am I suggesting plagiarism. Rock stories tend to become familiar with familiar themes. Cleo and Ethan meet at the battle of the bands, have an incredible night but Cleo decided to end things. Three years later they find themselves touring together with their respective bands. Can they stay apart? Ignore each other? Can Ethan forgive Cleo for breaking his heart? Did I mention they are on the same bus? Cleo and Ethan are drawn to each other again but there’s one tiny roadblock - Cleo is married, to an upcoming wealthy politician who happens to be an abuser and cheat.
Now the book goes into pure soap opera territory. There are sooo many cliches that they are hard to keep track of. It’s not until 5 years after the tour that Cleo and Ethan are reunited. I understand that this was the authors first book and it was a valiant effort. But sometimes too much is not a good thing. Cleo’s bandmates pretty much added to the story, setting up what is at the time, their own stories.

Debut author and certainly a solid start to a writing career. It was well-written with good character development but a light plot and drawn out storyline with little depth into big issues. The subject matter of abuse was there, as was drug abuse, but only at a surface level. Much of the actual abuse was mild and implausible at times. If running for the Senate you don't leave mark's on the wife's face. And she did not have any classic abuse behaviors.

I'll admit I may have been overly critical in some parts simply because they either didn't make sense or glazed over or didn't add anything to the story.

Could her arrogant husband really not have seen it in the kids? And there were just odd misconnects. Like why does he want some doting wife that obviously does not help at all with the campaign... If that is the reason he wanted to keep her. And bruising up her face before bringing her to meet important people who conveniently were the grandparents of ... And how long in rehab? I get the do it right, but they have family visits. Just technical details, but I notice these things.

Where was the angst and turmoil? It had the elements, but just needed that but more to really deliver. Perhaps it's just a tad of naivety on some logistical elements that will develop with time and experience.

Congrats on your debut novel! I love New authors when I love watching Then grow and mature in their stories. I'll keep an eye on this one.
