Krewe of Hunters #32.63

Born on the 4th of July

Rate this book
A long Krewe of Hunters short story, or a short novella—approximately 20,000 words—Born on the 4th of July takes place as the holiday nears and comes upon us.

Angela and Jackson and their adopted son Corby have headed with Adam Harrison and the ghost of his son, Josh, to pay tribute at the graves of Adam’s family.

But while they’re there, the ghost of an old serviceman beckons to Angela. He’s just seen his daughter, Annie, kidnapped. She had brought coffee and flowers to his grave. A murder of crows had burst into the sky; what appeared to be the giant figure of a man dressed like a crow had doused her with something on a rag—and disappeared through the graveyard and behind a group of family mausoleums.

Like Angela, his daughter is expecting a child any day. While Jackson worries about Angela’s activity as her due date draws near, it’s precisely her condition that makes Angela certain she can’t leave this one to others—she must help in any way that she can. Jackson, of course, can do the crawling around and physical work. She’ll get into the cemeteries office and begin all that she can online.

But the sensible way of doing things doesn’t always work as planned. Angela will find herself dead center in a conspiracy that has gone on far longer than what they’ve seen, literally deep in it! Deep underground, a victim herself.

But she knows she has Jackson, Corby, Adam, Josh, and the Krewe behind her. Nor will she forget her own abilities as they face down a malicious evil that has already claimed several victims.

But they’ll need the help of the living and the dead to make July 4th a genuinely happy holiday!

This is a wonderful, well-written, entertaining novella in Ms. Graham's Krewe series. It contains the perfect message for these difficult times, and is a real page turner with a happily ever after ending. Ms. Graham never disappoints her readers!

I have really enjoyed the recent novellas featuring Jackson and Angela. A pregnant woman is abducted from a cemetary. Jackson and Angela are there with Adan, the founder of the Krewe, to visit his family's grave. They learn of the abduction and try to help. Jackson continues to be a very nervous father to be. Angela continues to be kicka**. The third novella written that includes the COVID 19 pandemic. The book touches on many real world, current issues and handles them well. A request for tolerance and justice. Bravo!

This is another great piece centered around a holiday, in this instance the 4th of July. Our main characters are always very much solid as well as those they interact with. The locals are well defined and interesting with quirks you might not see coming. Knowing they are part of a federal police force is one thing but here we got to see a little more of the team and how they work.

Angela, Jackson, and their son Corby have gone with Adam Harrison and the ghost of his son Josh, to pay tribute at the graves of Adam's family. While they are there, the ghost of an old serviceman beckons to Angela. He's just seen his daughter who is pregnant kidnapped. A man dressed like a crow used a drug on a rag and whisked her away. Angela who is also pregnant investigates and finds herself taken by the same people. Jackson and Corby will do anything to get her back safely.

This a short-long story that gives a nice little mystery with an ending that fits.

This little short story depicts the Krewe of hunter's founder, Adam Harrison, and first agent, Jackson Crowe, in a mystery of the missing pregnant ladies in the cemetery. A very uplifting story relative to the current times of the COVID-19 pandemic. It mentions precautions that the characters take to protect the living. There is some paranormal assistance from a couple of cemetery dwellers to help solve the mystery. Very entertaining. A perfect story for any time but particularly appropriate right now. Ms. Graham never disappoints and the story flows with her expertise.

I always enjoy reading Heather Graham's Krewe of Hunters series. This story takes place now, July 1st,2020 with COVID19 and social distancing. Angela and Jackson along with Adam and their adopted son, Corby, have come to the cemetery to pay their respects to Adam's family and others. Adam's son, Josh is with them also. Angela is due with their first child, any day and Jackson is worried for her. While there, Angela sees a man who says his daughter has been kidnapped and she is pregnant too. Well, here we go again, on a mission to make things right. Perfect story for this time in our lives.

A fantastic short story. Angela, Jackson, Corby, Adam and Josh are together celebrating the fourth when one of Jackson’s fears occur and 8 month pregnant Angela is in danger.

The story is quick and the setting is a graveyard. The ghost is not historical, at first, but more ghosts enter the picture along the way. This really showcases Adam, Josh and Corby and I loved seeing them and the multiple ways they add to the Krewe. The ending is perfectly sweet and precious and I loved that side of the Krewe being present, especially with it being the original members!

Another cemetery and another ghost. But this time, Angela's baby is almost due when she encounters the baddies... so it's a race against time for Jackson to find her before she gives birth.

Childish

The writing read like a teenager wrote the story. I read to relax and leave the world behind. Including the pandemic situation in the story line just brought me down. Just plain stupid and horrible story.
