After months of enduring some of the worst cases an Inquisitor can experience, Elena Nikto was ready to head home for some relaxation and an easy assignment.
But an Heir Prince is murdered in a neighboring star system.
“It’ll only be a couple days out of the way,” her superiors say.
Thus, Elena’s plans are put on hold as she’s rerouted to investigate the situation.
Now she must weave through the intrigue that has taken place on the Royal yacht. The deceased’s wife wasn’t at the dinner. The New Heir Prince doesn’t want the job. And the family advisors don’t have anything to gain.
But there is a mysterious guest on board and indications of a sinister and sophisticated plot.
Which way will the clues really point? A fatigued yet determined Elena must find out!
Engaging and well-written. The story wastes no words on building the small murder drama in a clearly sci-fi setting. The main character is astute and capable, and no match for the murderer.
A quick, fun read which has the promise of more stories rising from the characterizations and the world-building.
A wonderfully written sci-fi murder mystery short story!
The Heir Prince is murdered and Elena Nikto is tasked with finding the murderer and solving the mystery around the Prince's death. She will have to investigate every suspicious person that attended the dinner, where the murder took place.
This was a truly enjoyable read that I couldn't put down. As the story unfolds, we are given clues about the murderer, but the suspense doesn't end until the end of the book. Definately worth a read, if you're looking for a good murder mystery.
This was a fabulous short read. Engaging, fun and wonderfully imaginative. The story and characters were nicely rounded for a short and the mystery was as intriguing as the fantastic world in which it took place. I'd love to see more stories from this place.
