T.J. lives in Perth, Western Australia, with his long-suffering life partner. Their children bailed out years ago, but grandchildren can sometimes be persuaded to visit. His book production is now into double figures. He's hoping to learn the secret soon. T.J. writes odd couple buddy detective, cozy and romance mysteries, and occasionally dabbles with military action adventure stories. When he’s not slaving at the keyboard, you’ll find him at the beach, on the road to a beach or planning a trip to somewhere nice, with a beach. You can find T.J. on Instagram, his website beachreads.com.au, or Threads.
This is the second book in the series with one other scheduled. This is a ‘comic’ romance where the girl is amazing and her amazing Australian friend set out to do a bit of detecting when she is accused of a hit and run attack on her cheating, fiancée.
I have never been so keen to finish a book and not in a nice way. I am old enough to remember black and white films of the 40’s where the girl is a wise-guy, cracking jokes all the time – almost one of the boys – except she is much prettier; and the guy is a hunk who is smitten, oh and clever and rich. Well this is like this. The plot on the detecting side is pretty bad, the love story predictable.
I hope I never have to read another book like this.
I do apologise to the author whole-heartedly but I am sure there will be a wide audience who will appreciate this genre – sadly I am not a fan which is why my rating is so low.
Thank you to the author, publishers and NetGalley for providing an ARC via my Kindle in return for an honest review.
Stella discovers her fiancé in the cooler with his pants around his ankles and Raelene lying across some crates. Stella dumped him and called off the wedding. None of her family believe that she dumped Michael. Then Mike becomes the victim of a hit and run driver. He accuses Stella of running him over! In the mean time, Sean is in New York on business and surprises Stella at the Pub. Of course she is happy to see him. She tells him her troubles and immediately they set out to prove Stella’s innocence. Entertaining!
This was a cute love story. Though I absolutely was pissed at the parents (read the story you will understand) and mike was such a loser! But Stella and Sean were just so adorable. And Stella was a little sassy and I loved that! The part about asking mike about the chocolates really made me LOL... great character development and I loved the story. Must read. The old school sleuthing is the best!
