Monica T. Rodriguez is the author of the technothriller Bulletproof. Her fascination with the eerie, odd, and supernatural began with the six-fingered hand of the Creature Feature movies crawling out of the ground and into her imagination. In addition to nightmares of bugs making words on her wall, those movies provided a lifetime’s worth of fuel for stories that tend to bend the laws of physics. Today her thrillers end up somewhere on the way to science fiction.

Monica prefers to read thrillers, science fiction, and fantasy that straddle the border between reality and the realm beyond that fascinates us all. Her current favorite series is The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, and she's a particular fan of the audiobooks narrated by James Marsters. Other favorites include the Pendergast books by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, the Dave Robicheaux series by James Lee Burke, and yes, she's read and enjoyed the Game of Thrones series by George R.R. Martin.

Monica lives in the Hudson Valley region north of New York City, far enough to be considered upstate by city dwellers but close enough to be considered a city dweller by those upstate. She'll try to include something she does in her free time once she has some. For now it's safe to assume she's writing the sequel to Bulletproof. There is always a crossword puzzle nearby for when her brain goes on strike or she can't sleep. When she comes out of her cave, there are often sightings of her on Twitter @docmon67.

I don't usually read thrillers, but I was excited to read this one as the author contacted me a couple of years ago to ask for some advice on the scientific content. It's a solid debut, and a very visual novel - I kept thinking that it might have been written with a screen adaptation in mind. I would watch that movie!

A fun sci-fi about a crazy scientist who wants to create super soldiers and an enhanced woman who may be the key to his research. Justine just wants to live her life but she's been chased from city to city for 20 years.

This was action-filled, with believable characters. Looking forward to book 2.

I love technothrillers and anything where someone is being hunted for harboring special abilities. This novel didn't disappoint. I thought the characters were flushed out, defined and interesting. I was invested, and cared about the main protagonist and struggled along with her as the plot developed.

Totally feel like the author left this open for a sequel. Excited to see what this author does next!
