I'm glad that I found this series. I liked this kind of stories, with mobs with fluffy heart for their family and loved ones.
There's no exception for Angelo who had a thing for Cameron since they're high school.
Met again after years, still Cameron hates Angelo and despise his family for doing dirty things.
But love is love, and when you know, you know. That kind of thing.
It's almost the same plot from Lucien, but this one was lighter, and the things Angelo and Cameron kept for each other, boomed as soon as they did the 'deal'.
If you're okay to stay at superficial, and don't care to dig deeper (like me), this was a fun entertaining read. Especially in these days when we stay at home forever and ever.
No need more complication read whatsoever.
So yeah, I recommend this series to enjoy!

I made it farther than the 1st one so that’s good.

These Mafia bosses are just... not Mafia bosses enough and when you’re painting them as hardcore and yet you make them full of “fewllings” and soft and when you’re calling it a “dark” romance but you just give me romance with mushy feelings then you have... failed in what you set out to do.

This series its not dark at all. Please author, stop calling it a dark romance.

Cameron held out longer than the other twink in the first book so that’s better but he was ready to roll and bend over as well since he met Angelo. Just like Peter with Lucien. In fact, the two books and characters personalities are way too similar and that’s a bad thing. I can’t tell between Lucien and Angelo except their appearance. Just like I can’t tell between Peter and Cameron except appearance and Cameron had a “stronger” will. But he didn’t not really.

I wanted dark and it didn’t deliver.
I wanted longing, sexual tension and it didn’t deliver.
A stronger Cameron that actually puts his foot down and it stays that way giving the character some self respect and it didn’t deliver.
I wanted a darker plot with a darker Mafia boss character in Angelo and it didn’t deliver.
I wanted to tell between Angelo and Lucien, Cameron and Peter and it didn’t deliver.

I sure as hell ain’t reading the 3rd book.

Angelo by Silvia Violet is a story of almost-second-chance-romance, enemies to lovers, and dubious consent from the get-go between the mafioso Angelo and the lawyer Cameron.

I did not enjoy this book. Part of this reason is not Violet's fault: I do not like second chance romance, I do not like enemies to lovers, and the dubious consent in this did not have dubious consent trigger warnings. You can look at my GR and see I read noncon and dubcon, so this issue is not that it exists, but the lack of content warnings for it. So, my personal issues with certain tropes aside, I do feel that some of it wasn't handled well.

Let's talk about enemies to lovers. The reason that Angelo hates Cam is because . That is the reason this man, now 30, has hated someone. Twelve years and he didn't get over one comment. Meanwhile, he storms into Cameron's bakery and That is a pretty fucking justified reason to hate someone, in my opinion, but that dubious consent situation only came about because Angelo wanted revenge over the prior spoiler. What? Are you still sixteen? Get over yourself. You can't pretend like people aren't going to have opinions of you, because you do kill people.

So, I found the "enemies to lovers" part of this unrealistic when the power imbalance is completely fucked, the justification for 'revenge' is some shitty comment from high school, and it was made out that Cameron was the bad person in all of this. Several times, Cameron eventually apologizes and realizes he misunderstood some things from high school. There is very little comfort spared for all the trials and tribulations he was going through as a kid and furthermore, like his that is never brought up. No, who gives a shit what Cameron was also struggling with, it is poor Angelo and his feelings because the boy he occasionally bullied didn't like him and his family for being known mafia criminals. What?

I don't know. It makes me angrier the more I think about it. Violet also once more leans into the kink here, which was hot. However, there is a lot of claims of "you don't want safewords, you just want me to control you" type shit, which. Hm. I'm not sure about that one, but it does pair up with dubious consent in this case I suppose. It's not that these men didn't eventually have tender moments, but the whole premise of this supposedly mutual hatred was asinine.

Finally, the editing. This book needs editing. Spelling errors, formatting issues, too many mis-typed quotation marks. I know Violet is a prolific author, and this book came out in 2020. It is not that old. What happened? Why are there so many issues here? It's a shame.

Very much a middle of the road read. However I'm invested in this crazy family now so there's no way I won't keep on reading.

I was frustrated with how Cameron in denial with himself for almost the first half of the book. Fu*k, I thought I'm about ready to call it quits. After that, it started getting good. Thank god... Once I get through my head that this book is a bit fluffy, I enjoyed it. I think I liked Angelo a lot better than Lucien. He sure as hell wears his heart on his sleeve. 💕💕💕

This series is totally becoming my guilty pleasure!!!!!!

I didn’t expect much from the second book of the series. I went in expecting pretty much the same kind of storyline as the first book…boy was I wrong!

Angelo took what made the first book good and added a whole new level to it. The Storyline had more depth, the sex scenes were hotter and the action scenes were better.

Lucien and Peter’s love story from book 1 (with both characters having roles in this book) was a more innocent romance whilst Angelo and Cameron had history…from high school…and they hated each other!!!! Who doesn’t love an enemies-to-lovers storyline?! This aspect of the book worked perfectly.

Cameron as the outsider of this book was a great character. He was more developed than Peter. His storyline with the bakery and his father were great. His relationship dynamic with Angelo was intense and hot!!! Very very hot and spicy!!!!

It also dropped a plot twist which for some reason I gasped at…I was that invested reading this!

Loved it. That being said there were a few typos and grammar mistakes. Normally this doesn’t bug me but because I was so invested I wish the writing were a higher standard at times.

Will be reading the third by the looks of it 🙈

Just like the first sequel, this is not a realistic book, it is a fairy tale with a kinky parts.

And if the main character wasn’t a mobster, I would call this a sweet summer read.
But with mob and mobsters, you get dead bodies. Spice it up with dominance and submission, it becomes a … maybe autumn read?

Summer or autumn, this was fun and hot!

I didn’t like this as much as the first one, but there were parts where I loved Angelo and Cameron’s dynamic and I really enjoyed the beginning. It started to fizzle out for me towards the end. For the most part, I did enjoy it.

I’m going to start with a warning: just like the first book in the Marchesi Family series, Lucien, this story has an edge of dubcon. It gets very close to that line without going over. Cameron feels he has no choice but to do what Angelo wants, or else he’ll lose everything. Only the fact that we get time in Cameron’s head to know how much he wants it, and the fact that Cameron could, in fact, run away and leave everything behind, keeps it from crossing that line. But if it’s something that is not for you, I suggest you skip this book and series.

I hesitate to call this book enemies to lovers, because Cameron and Angelo aren’t truly enemies. But there is a lot of animosity between them from their interactions and misconceptions as teenagers, and there’s definitely hate sex going on in their first few times together. As the story progresses, we learn that a lot of that is just posturing, especially on Angelo’s part, and their physical connection helps them gain an emotional one.

Read Kris’ review in its entirety here.

I'm not saying a mobster can't fall in love with his highschool crush he's dubconning into a sexual relationship, but like the first book this one just doesn't lean into the concept enough.

Much, much better than the first book in my opinion. Sure, there were still inadequacies, but based on the strength of the MCs and how hard I fell in love with them both, going to bump it up to 5 stars.

I loved, loved, loved Angelo, my newest book boyfriend. Sure, he's ruthless, controlling, harsh and hell bent on claiming, owning and meting revenge on Cameron, but we get to see the soft glimpses of him, his insecurities, his care and his protectiveness as well. It was clear from the start that revenge might be his agenda, but there's a part of him that wants Cameron for his own, much like Peter is for Lucien from the first book. Overall, I will say Angelo is so much more rounded, dimensional and well fleshed out than his brother.

As for Cameron, sure he can be vulnerable but that does not mean he's weak. His family, his life growing up made him the way he is and despite that, he still wants to reconnect to a part of his history that was good by taking up the bakery. He hates Angelo with a vengeance, because of what happened in the past and because of Angelo's family background, but he secretly lusts for him all through the years. He is forced to submit, to be owned and to be used, but he secretly enjoys it. And though he enjoys it, there is still that pushback and that anger over his situation and he gives as good as he gets. His complexity of emotions to his eventual realisation of his love for Angelo was interesting to say the least, and their fire and heat, toeing the line between hate and love and the push and pull was just so much fun.

The writing was simplistic and easy to digest, and the plot was pretty much mostly about Angelo and Cameron, and as per the first book, only touches on the mob aspect of the family just every so often. Sure, it could have benefitted with more plot complexities, more twists and turns and just basically more of the mob aspect of it all, but for me at least, I am content purely based on the strength of the MCs and their hot, heavy and wild journey, and of course, the anger sex.

And one more thing, the cover model. Hot af and totally fit's my minds impression of how hot and sexy the controlling and ruthless bastard Angelo is.

OK this is just a fun series and escapism at its best. It's filled with morally grey men and the men who fall for them and find their own family in the process.

I love that we got to see Cam and Angelo when they were in high school to better understand them as adults. I loved the push-pull beginning to their agreement, when Cameron realizes that his family is in so much debt to Angelo's family. They had intense chemistry together and I really enjoyed their story.

Definitely enjoying this series!

This wasn't a bad book, but it was just ok. I did like Angelo and Cameron individually. Together, I bought it by the end, but not while the book was going. The angst just seemed to drag on for too long. And then all of a sudden it's not and Cameron is thinking "I love him"...ugh.

I did like how it all got pulled in towards the end though. I'm invested in the series, so I'll definitely be reading Devil's book.

I loved this one. A genius falls for a tatted up mafia man. The characters were perfect, there was a complete and total character arc for both, it was super sweet, hot dialog between the characters, and their was plenty of story to keep it interesting! WELL DONE!

❤❤ I'm addicted to this series .
A great start with a hot prologue with Cameron and Angelo, complete opposites of each other in school.
Present day 13 years on Cameron's the owner of Arts Bakery and Angelo wanted money owed to the family.
A great re-meeting and it sure shocked Cameron. poor bugger having Angelo over him after want he just learnt. Hes definitely between a rock and a hard place situation. But his secret might be a help in the futures.
• mobster vs bakery owner
• debts owing
• enemies to lovers
• 🔥🔥hot chemistry and domination
• past mobster business ain't over.
• a few twists i this popping up i that i didnt see coming.
Angelo and Cameron are great in this, the author knows how to get the reader feeling with the characters, at least for me. I loved the ending of this for a HEA.

Angelo and Cameron were acquaintances in high school. 15 yrs on, things have taken a turn..
Cameron's family owes Angelo's and Angelo intends to collect.
Together they have some pretty hot hate sex. I enjoyed the way their relationship progressed.
Great story that had me invested the whole way through.

This was a certainly hard read for me. It took me up to 3 days to finish it -_- .

Yet, everything had started well: I was super exited about this MM with a dip into the bondage kink, super hot tatooed guy, a sassy nerd and of course cannoli!

Then it just kept going downhill:
- To many decriptions of nothings and not so much good conversations
- We have Cam, who is described to be a top of the notch lawyer, super smart and righteous, yet to justify that he falls for a mafioso, his integrity is just thrown away in the last chapter just like that,
- Every element is brushed on, but not quiet explored / explained correctly:
> I mean the BAD and BIG mafioso stuff (at least in this book of the series)... I am still trying to figure it out
> The fondation of all the story is built from a stupid encounter happened between the main characters when they were teens, and yet here they are, all grown up but Angelo still holds a grudge over what he interpeted as a HUGE rejection -_-
> The author dipped into the kink but even there, unless you count 1 or 2 spankings, nothing to write home about
> And there is literally nothing to say about the antagonist because he is just thrown there just to fill the missing gaps of ??? an antagonist! Even then, his description is so short and shallow that you can't even put a face on him nor try to relate or comprehend his side of the story because he has none.
And let's not forget the so many, many, many macho lines: basically "I am the big mafia guy so you don't hang up on me, you have to please me, what I say is God's word to you, I don,t give a f*** about your NO and other negations because I know better than you what is good for you, ..." blabla.

I think I just expected more depth into Cameron's personality, more development for Angelo and basically all the characters, better scroching sex scenes, maybe some funny complicity lines... welp!

I will try to find motivation for Devil, but I think it might remain on the shelf for a long time.

Two * * because hey, at least there were pastries in there.

Enemies-to-lovers, mafia, CW: Dub-con. This didn’t work on a plot or romance level, but the mafia dub-con was fun. Unfortunately, that only lasted for half the book and then the rest was nonsense.

Morally ambiguous characters (an audio review)

I’m not always a fan of mob books. Anything that glorifies violence and criminal behavior has to be taken with a grain of salt, so to speak. Or in this case a cup of flour as there is serious baking involved. Man, my mouth was watering at all the Italian treats. Made me want to run to the bakery. Alas, it’s too far from here so I had to simply enjoy reading about all those carbs.

Angelo and Lucien and brothers. Devil was born around the same time as Angelo so although he’s a cousin, he’s like close family as well. Lucien has taken over as head of the family business with his lover Peter by his side. Peter understands this is a devil’s bargain, as it were, and accepts his role. That was book 1. Book 2 finds Angelo calling a debt owed by a reprobate. A reprobate who has died under mysterious circumstances. A reprobate who left everything to his son. A son Angelo knew from high school.

Cameron left town a long time ago and never intended to look back. When his father is killed, he plans to come home, sell the bakery, and move back out west. Except things are never quite that easy. He’s overwhelmed by nostalgia for the way the bakery was when his grandparents were alive and running it. He decides to restore it and run it the way it used to be. Except now he’s discovered his father was heavily indebted to the mob and Angelo is there to collect the debt.

I love morally ambiguous characters and Angelo is that. The extortion made me uncomfortable, as did the D/s relationship that felt a bit forced. Cameron suddenly obeying Angelo in his sexual demands felt…off. But then this book wasn’t meant to make me feel good. In the end, Cameron winds up making the same devil’s bargain and gets in bed with the mob. I didn’t read Lucien and I have yet to read Devil and I will read both, but with the same lens of this isn’t really right. Yes, these guys are doing some good things and yes, they’re only killing ‘bad’ guys. Killing is still violence that we don’t necessarily need these days – so consider yourself warned.

Michael Dean narrated the book and he brought that extra something special that he always does. Like I said, I’ll pick up the other books in the series as well as I did enjoy most of this one.

Angelo is the second book in The Marchesi Family series, and can easily be read as a standalone, although I found it much more fun reading it directly after Lucien, the first book in the series.

Angelo, or Angel as everyone calls him, is brother of the The Marchesi Family head and one of the most trusted enforcers. Angel knows how to get a job done, and he isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. When his high school crush comes back to Boston, Angel immediately knows what he has to do: make Cameron his. High school had been a tough time for both Angel and Cam, but now Angel finally has a second chance. Cam moved back to Boston after his father was murdered and left the family bakery to him. Although his childhood had been less than desirable, Cam still has fond memories of his loving grandparents and the bakery they devoted their lives to. Unfortunately, Cam’s no-good, dead father messed up the financial standing of the bakery and now Cam finds himself in debt to the one person he can’t stand: Angel. It’s a rocky start, but soon these two men realize how perfect they are for each other.

I loved this book. Angel and Cameron’s relationship was intense and full of fire – Angel demanded and Cameron pushed back, both of them loving the fight and Cam’s eventual submission. But even with all that friction in their sex lives, their relationship had it’s sweet and tender moments as the two men fell in love with each other. There was a lot of action and drama in this book, and Silvia Violet did not flinch away from mafia-level violence. These men are in the mob and dangerous, deadly things happen in that world.

Michael Dean narrated the audiobook and did a spectacular job. The voices for the characters were perfect and consistent, and I had no trouble differentiating who was speaking. Michael put so much energy into his voice during the sex and action scenes. I was either on the edge of my seat, or fanning myself from hot the performance was. I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook and definitely recommend it.

📗4.6 rounded up. Read on 19th Aug, 2025. Much better than i anticipated.

Aww so Angelo and Cam were in school together, and Angel asked Cam to tutor him but got turned down! Guy is still obsessed and now Cam owns the bakery the Marchesies launder money through and he comes to collect the debt. All stories include taking their men into a safe house. And all are sex first emotional slow burn later. Tropes & tags at the end.

Story- 4.5⭐, Characters- 4⭐, Sex- 4.5⭐, Epilogue- 2⭐

✔i see so they’re both playboys who are obsessed with e/o. And Angelo sounded more like pan than bi! He may be one of us! :D
✔This is a rivals to hookup to lovers story where Cam had rejected Angel in school, and now the latter wants pay back in the form of… services. 😏 Pleased to say this actually is a good slow burn like Remington.

Manhandling! But the cutesy type ofc. And humiliation, spanking and choking too complete with aftercare. Sir.

✔There’s some dc elements to this. It was either be Angel’s whore (his words not mine) or lose the building.

Michael freaking Dean. Can i stalk him on socials?

// i rate sex different from sex acts (which i don’t rate) and all my reviews reflect that. The views are my personal and may not align with yours. Only read if you’re ok with that. Else, please skip this next part.
✔This has 5 sex scenes and 1 sex act. The sex was awesome, has spanking, head and rimming as foreplay. 1st time was responsive, the next ones not so. 2nd one has a cock cage. Oh and one thing i noticed, this series is very condom conscious?! :D

📗Tropes & tags: Gay x bi/pan, heavy care taking, massaging, cuddling, make him food, cloud gazing, possessive, enemies to lovers, hookup to lover, manhandling, size difference, 1st person dual pov, HFN.
CW: MC kept as hostage, on page gun violence and murder.
Sex act: Spanking + belt, head, rough sex, marking, choking, humiliation, complete control, edging, cock cage, orgasm denial.
