Dublin in 1982, the city is in the grip of an unprecedented heroin crisis. Three young men find themselves in dire circumstances. Two are hopelessly addicted to the narcotic, while the other is a car thief whose teenage girlfriend is pregnant. Desperation moves them to commit a crime that will change the course of their lives forever. Years later, a dark secret between them that had remained hidden, emerges and threatens to destroy them all.
I loved this book. I grew up in Dublin during the time depicted in the story, and reading this book transported me back to Dublin in the 80’s and 90’s. The story is brilliant and I felt myself engrossed in the welfare of the characters even though some of them were unsavoury and undeserving of any sympathy, I thought that the author instilled in them at least one redeeming feature that made me care about them. I would highly recommend this book
