An empty mansion with a wicked past. A homeless man and his dog. A winning lottery ticket that brings mansion, man, and man’s best friend together. What secret lies beyond the walls of Markville Mansion? Bob Noone and his dog Blink are happy to be off the streets. They refuse to be intimidated by the bizarre happenings that take place inside their new home. However, when patches of eerie fog appear out of nowhere, hovering heavily over random guests, Bob asks God to reveal the meaning behind them. Bob is astonished as the spiritual unrest uncovers a gift that only God can give. Greed-filled family and acquaintances who get news of his windfall brave the horror of their visits to Markville Mansion as they attempt to benefit from the newly appointed multi-millionaire’s windfall but they are soon to realize that God is with Bob and vengeance is with God. “Living on the street doesn’t make you poor, and a large bank account doesn’t make you rich. You can be a poor rich man if your soul is lost. You can be a rich homeless man if you have these two God and Dog.” ~ Bob Noone
~4.5 stars~ *sob*... *sob*... Is it really over?! *tears* Why couldn't it be longer?! Ok, first of all, I want to give a huge thank you to the wonderful author of this book for sending me a free copy of this book in exchange for a review! This book was so sweet. I mean, yeah, I'm not one to read books about animals, or the adventures of a man and his dog, but this was so much more than that. Not to mention it was superbly written. If you haven't read this book before, think this: A christian story about a homeless-turned-millionaire and his dog, with a touch of "haunted house-ness", and an excellent picture about the horrors of greed. Well, I'll leave the endless rambling for my full review XD View Full Review Here: https://justabookishblog.wixsite.com/...
The House by Chambray Blue is an actually good Christian fiction book. Bob finally had a lucky break. He was homeless on the streets until a kind woman gave him a sandwhich and her lottery ticket. Bob wins big and immediately buys a house. The house has supernatural properties though. Anyone who steps in the house with evil intentions gets shrouded in smoke. This isn't a problem for Bob, he's a devout Christian. He just repels the smoke and his dog (who is such a good boy!) glows. This comes in REAL handy once family members who disowned him show back up now that he has money. Knowing who is there honestly to be his friend and who wants his money is *really* helpful.
There are three different angles you could review this book from. A supernatural house haunting that works in the owners favor.... a man who was wronged and worked to make the best of it.... a mystery novel. Any way you slice it, it's a good book. I love Bob as a character. He loves with his whole heart. He gives people the benefit of the doubt. If you want his help, and you're a good person, he is 100% there for you. Even if all he has to give is a spare set of hands to wash your dishes. He puts one foot in front of the other, doing what's right. He isn't perfect, nor is he made of stone. He certainly cracks, he's human. He's got integrity and firm roots in his faith. I found myself cheering for him to escape and overcome every struggle in this book. 5/5 stars for a GOOD Christian fiction book.
If you are a Christian who loves dogs (and cats), and enjoys tales of good versus evil, you will enjoy this short novel. Bob and his dog Blink are the type characters that easily touch heartstrings. If not for a few incidents of head hopping, I’d be giving this delightful little book five stars. Though the first quarter moved slowly while setting up the story, the final three-quarters were engaging to the point I couldn’t put the book down. Recommended especially for all lovers of pets and animals.
Amazing story with a couple of very cool plot twists, that took me by complete surprise! Uplifting, imaginative story, with great characters (especially Blink the dog) by wonderful Christian author. This book is a must read for any Christian, who likes mysteries with a (somewhat) supernatural element. Don't overlook "The House" by Chambray Blue.
“The House,” by Chambray Blue, is about a house, and so much more! It is about love, love for dogs, people, and for God. It is about what we can do to help our fellow man.
Bob, our main character, is living on the streets with Blink, a dog that he found, who is also homeless. As we learn about Bob’s past, we find that, like many homeless, he once had an ordinary life. Many folks are homeless due to drugs. Bob is homeless because of the woman he loved! His own wife! She was beyond horrid to him, but you will have to read the book to find out how bad she was. Bob had been working a couple jobs to survive financially. Poor Bob, he never had a chance to make ends meet the way his wife kept spending money! Thanks to the kindness of a stranger Bob’s fortune changed, some might say, “In the Blink of an eye.” But guess what? Being wealthy isn’t easy either.
This is an easy reading book, with several twists and turns. The House is clean and appropriate for most age groups. There is a murder, but nothing graphic. It is clear after the first several chapters that Bob has a firm grasp on God, who He is, and what He does. When God gives him a spiritual gift Bob is amazed.
The House takes you on a short journey into the world of Bob, a journey of pain, heartache, wealth, and love. Bob and Blink face life head-on, with the joy of being together. This is a sweet read.
It is not every day that I find a good Christian Fiction book with supernatural elements. The House by Chambray Blue has by far exceeded my expectations for future Christian Supernatural books. From the luck of making it big with the lottery ticket given to him by a stranger to the fact that his wonderful dog glows when things are questionable is honestly absolutely intriguing to me. I was hooked right from the start with the realtor talking about the ‘haunted’ house finally being sold right to the very end! Absolutely love the story and the main character who has been wonderfully crafted by the author! A must read and definitely 5/5 stars for a wonderful Christian Fiction book!
If you like a fast moving mystery book then this is the book for you! The book kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next. Homeless Bob wins big on a lottery ticket given to him by a mysterious woman and buys a house...but the realtor forgets to tell him his house is haunted. I received a free copy of the boon from the author for my honest review
Loved the book. It kept me entertained. I laughed and cried too. I loved the character Bob and oh I love that Blink! A little mystery, a little humor, a lot of pet love, a little bit of kindness, and a whole lot of faith!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I listened to it on Audible narrated by Jill Fair. She’s phenomenal—with voice changes and dramatization. The story is unique and uplifting.
Wow! I loved the characters in this book. This story really kept my interest. It held mystery, romance and a really great story that left me in tears at the end. I love a book that can move me and this didn’t disappoint. Looking forward to many more from the author! ((Thank you))
