Before Salem Tempest was a priest, he was a sinner.
For years, I partied. Fucked. Smoked. Drank. I had it all, and the world was my oyster. But then it all came crashing down, and I soon found myself drunk at Notre Dame de Paris, befriending the head priest. Before I knew it, I was giving it all up for a clerical collar and The Lord's Prayer.
Until I met her. Because she made me want to give it all up again–she made me want to go back to my old ways. Twice. Three times. Ten. Over the desk and sitting on top of me. Any way that made her mine.
Forgive us our tresspasses...
SINNERS is a prequel novella to the HEATHENS series. It does not need to be read first.
**I was lucky enough to have Amanda ask me to beta read this for her**
Salem Tempest is a book boyfriend that will always be near and dear to my heart. I LOVED him in Heathens, so you best believe I jumped at the chance to beta read more about him in Sinners before it was released to the public!
Amanda did not disappoint in this prequel novella! I loved learning more about Salem’s pre-priest days with Julia, and also how he met Lilith.
Everyone should read this, along with Heathens, and Believers...which is releasing later this year! <3.
P.S. Beta reading is a terrifying experience...this was my first time and I felt so much self-pressure to provide good and useful feedback! Thank goodness Amanda is such a sweet human being and told me my suggestions were great (even though I’m 100% sure they were not) 😂😘
So Sinners is the prologue to the series of Heathens. I read it before I started the series and I have to admit I am happy I read it because it gives you a sense of who Salem Tempest was before he became a student of God. BUT you don't have to read it. Most of what you will read in this book IS in Heathens, but not all of it. This is a good insight into Salem, it will give you a good idea if you want to move forward.
I read Heathens when it came out in 2017, and I simply couldn't put it down. I fell in love with Salem and Lily as well as with Amanda's writing. So, Sinners was the perfect novella to go back into that world and understand Salem a little bit better and how he was before deciding to become a priest. It also includes his first encounter with Father Monsignor.
It's a short and alluring glimpse into Heathens, which remains an epic story. If you haven't started the series, then I highly recommend beginning with this book and reading the series in order.
It was amazing to me that I could be so intrigued with a character after so few pages! This is a fantastic introduction to what will surely be a great series. I can't wait to see how Salem's internal conflict plays out!
This was a quick face read. A novella, that gives you a better look at who Salem Tempest is, and who he was before he met Lily in Heathen’s. I enjoyed this, and getting a glimpse of how he came to be at Norte Dame on that evening, to meet Father Monsignor.
Sinners is an intense prequel to Heathens in which we get a better look into Salem’s decision to become a priest. This is a very well written novella and I loved Salem and Lillith’s first meeting. Highly recommend!
Amanda did not disappoint in this prequel novella. You learn about Salem’s pre-priest days with Julia and how he met Lilith. You don’t have to read the prequel but it’s strongly encouraged.
I read and loved Heathens years ago, so when this prequel was released I couldn’t wait to learn Salem’s backstory. It was great and reminded me why I loved the author’s writing and the story. I’m holding out hope that the follow up to Heathens is on the horizon sometime soon!
Liked the idea...but the story fell short. I read it all the way through but it was long-winded and a touch boring. I liked the character, but his decision seemed very presumptuous and odd.
*Read more of my reviews at Whoo Gives A Hoot* Salem Tempest is one of those heroes that you become utterly addicted to, eagerly craving all those dirty little secrets of their past. When the author initially introduced her readers to this hero back in 2017 with Heathens, I knew I was one that wanted more of his backstory because I just couldn't get enough of this character. He stole my soul and left me completely breathless the first time I met him, and honestly he still does the same...even after all these years.
Amanda Richardson is a poetic storyteller and she did an extraordinary job delivering her readers a MUST READ novella, Sinners, that will leave you falling wholeheartedly head over heels in LUST with Salem and his dark and twisted past. Although this novella isn't technically required to enjoy Heathens, I would strongly urge you to read it first because it sheds some additional light into Salem's past.
