To claim his mate, he’ll have to reveal his darkest secret …
Cowboy bear shifter Wyatt Reynolds spent ten years fighting for his country. Now he’s back in Huckleberry Valley and he’s trying to move on, but the ghosts of his past won’t let him. Tormented by nightmares and unable to get close to anyone, he just wants to be left alone.
Melody’s not having it. The curvy vet thinks she can heal him, as if he’s another one of her wounded animals. But there’s far more to his story than she could ever know. If he told her the truth, she’d walk away forever, and he’s not ready to lose the only woman he’s ever wanted to claim as his mate.
This is the first book in the Huckleberry Valley Shifters series. Although all the books in this series are stand-alone, readers may find they enjoy the stories more if the books are read in order as the characters and tales are interconnected. There are no cliff-hangers, no cheating, and each book has a guaranteed HEA. Love scenes are fully realized and at times, include explicit language. Recommended for readers 18+, please. Enjoy!
Release the burden This book contains two of my favorite things, bear shifters and hot soldiers. The author really did a wonderful job with such a difficult topic. It is hard for any soldier, any survivor, to let go when they come home. And the author really took those difficulties and ran with them, while creating this wonderful love story all about family, friends, and mates. She created so many connections for Wyatt that he is finally able to find his HEA. There might not have been true danger, well you better watch out for the guy behind the bar, but we were not left wanting for action and she gave us so many threads of things that are yet to come. I don't know which of the characters she is planning on healing next, but I can't wait to find out.
This is the first book in the Huckleberry Valley Shifters series but is read as a standalone. If you like shifter stories, you'll enjoy this cowboy shifter. The story was very emotional at times as well as heartbreaking. This is Wyatt and Melody's story and it's a page-turner. Steamy and overflowing with passion and suspense, this book will grab your attention right at the beginning and keep it. He's fights demons from his military days and she's determined to help him cope. He struggles with concealing his 'secret' The book does end with a HEA. Well written with developed characters. I read an arc via Bad Boy Update and voluntarily chose to write a review.
Bearclaw Ranch is where Wyatt lays his head, helping Verne to tend his cows. Melody is the local vet but is also an empath and tends to all the local animals. Awwww Wyatt never had it easy from the beginning of the book. We find out he was in the military but something happened and now he lives with the ghosts of his past. I was willing him to shake himself up and listen ito others in order to help himself. The story was really good and I loved the trial and tribulations of both the characters as they tried to come together as a couple. .
Fate is a fickle folly of so our Hero thinks. He does not deserve a mate but fate drops one on his doorstep one stormy afternoon and his life will never be the same. Hers on the other hand seems like her mother's deja vie
Back in Huckleberry Valley, suffering from PTSD, cowboy bear shifter Wyatt Reynolds can’t get past the awful nightmares he is left with after serving his country. He can’t get into a relationship because not only too many secrets would have to be revealed, but he feels he is unworthy to have survived the battles while others did not. Melody, the town’s veterinarian and a bear shifter, is special to him, a woman he would otherwise want to claim as his mate if he were able to. But he can’t tell her the truth either.
Melody is not only a shifter, but she has empathic abilities that give her a way to be able to help Wyatt if he can quit being stubborn and accept help. But that isn’t easy to do, and they will have a struggle before things get better. Will they finally build trust and acceptance in each other? Or will Wyatt’s struggle be too much to overcome?
I love shifter stories. If we just let the animal half of the shifter fix things, it would be done with no fanfare or delay! They are so matter-of-fact about things! But the human part does need help. Overcoming PTSD is not a simple matter. It takes courage, strength, and help. Grab your copy and see if Wyatt accepts the help offered. The author handles this in a very positive way that might clarify things. I have nothing but respect and admiration for those who have gone through something similar. It’s definitely not easy.
Once again Liv has given us a wonderful world of shifters and humans all striving in their everyday life I loved her characters on Curvy Bear ranch and am just as invested in her shifters of Huckleberry Valley This first book is a great welcome to a brand new series
Wyatt Reynolds is returned veteran bear shifter who has served ten years defending his country he had handled it all quite well until his last deployment in the sand box there on a mission he lost quite a few of his men and now he is suffering from not only PTSD but also survivor;s guilt This has lead him to believe that he isn't worthy of love or a family something that his bear isn't in agreement with and lets him know quite vocally. The he meets local bear shifter veterinarian Melody she is determined that he will start to live life again even though she is also hiding to a certain extent from her abilities as an empath. Can she get him to start to live again especially once they realise that they are one another mates You will have to read to see
Everyone needs someone on their side, even if they think they don't deserve it. This story is filled with so much passion and love. The characters are amazing.
Wyatt is retired from the Army. After returning from the war, he doesn't like being around people. When he meets Melody, he thinks she hot, but a woman so far out of his league that she may as well be royalty. But there was something about her, he just couldn't stay away from her. But he wasn’t sure how to move forward.
Melody is a vet, she is also an empath. When she meets Wyatt, her first impression is that he is sexy as hell, but then realizes that this guy is a hot mess. She has standards and he didn’t meet even the most basic criteria. Although she knew she should run like hell from a man like him, she couldn’t resist the pull of his wounded spirit.
Wyatt is a veteran, who returns home to his rural hometown with severe PTSD, fighting anxiety and survivor's guilt. He finds work at the ranch that belongs to a man, who always was like a father to him. There he meets the new veterinary, Melody. Instantly attracted he slowly opens up, but believes he will lose her if he tells her about his decision making, that resulted in many people's death. As a bear shifter, he knows she is his mate, but the human is scared. A good story telling about the problems of PTSD, the guilt, many vets carry with them and never talk about. A story of strong men, overcoming their fears, but also of women who fight for their men, support them, and scold them when necessary. Despite the heavy topic an entertaining story, with quite a few funny scenes. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is Wyatt and Melody's story . Wyatt is working on the ranch while trying to deal with things that happened to while in the military . Everyone tried to help him but somethings are harder to overcome . Melody herself has some baggage that she needs to deal with but when these two get together ?! Holy hotness the reader can feel the heat between them ! I really loved reading about true mates and the way they learn to trust and deal with each other . Clapping my hands to the way this author showed so much that the soldiers whom come back home has to deal with and it was done quite well . Well written and recommended to all .
I really liked the story between Wyatt and Melody. The chemistry between the 2 was perfect.
I think the only character that irked me was Holly..she nosy one in the book..and the way she acted towards Jace, and then him chasing after her...(I don't know, but I just didn't care for it.) Seems it was ok for her to go gossiping, but when the tables were turned on her..she gets mad and walks away..as i say..Don't like the heat, get out of the kitchen...lol
I love Liv's books and I was please with this one as well...now can't wait for Book 2 and why do I have a feeling it's going to be Holly's book?...lmao..
This is a beautiful story of love and recovery. Wyatt is a great character. Wounded by his war experiences he lives a life on the outside. Working hard but not connecting with anyone. Melody is a caring and loving soul, a vet with amazing compassion and skill. When there lives are thrown together you know it will be a rollercoaster of regret and vulnerability. The story beautifully entwined there lives. The secondary characters are strong and eloquent giving the plot depth and hopefully setting the scene for more books. I loved the character detail and story arc. I highly recommend this book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
An excellent read by the author Liv Brywood. Centres around Wyatt a battle scarred returned Afghanistan Vet. He assists the vet Melody in the care of a calf who had caught itself in barbed wire. He suddenly finds himself interested in a female for the first time since his return. This was because of his last mission in which he blames himself for the loss of a number of the men on patrol with him. It is a steamy romantic read as he grapples with his problems and his growing romance with the Vet. I do recommend the book to you if you want to feel good at the end.
I really love shifter stories and this was a good one. The author handles the subject matter of PTSD in a sensitive yet realistic manner.
Wyatt is having a hard time re-integrating into civilian life after serving in the Army and losing part of his unit to an IED attack. He gets a job at the Bearclaw Ranch taking care of the cows. When one of the calves is hurt he meets Melody Wilds, the vet. They are attracted to each other and their bears sense they are mates but neither of them believe them at first. They end up as friends with benefits before falling for each other. Wyatt almost loses Melody but they eventually get their HEA.
Wyatt had returned from war damaged but when he meets local vet Melody his bear calls her mate. Grizzly Bear shifter Wyatt Reynolds returns his home town of Huckleberry Valley but has trouble holding a job until his mother's friend Vern employs him on his ranch. While rounding up the last of the cows to get them into their winter pasture he finds a cow whose calf is caught in the barb wire of the fence. He sends his horse back to the stable and when he has released the calf he carries it back to the stable. Vern calls the local vet and when Melody Wilds arrives his bear calls her his mate.

This story takes us into a “world” where shifters are known and just a part of everyday society. In this mythology they have fated mates but it’s not a lightning strike moment. Melody and Wyatt have burning hot chemistry but their uncertainty, maybe caused by both of their baggage, causes them to be wary. Plus Wyatt is a war vet with PTSD. As much fun as it is to read about the bear shifters playing, fishing, and quarreling this tale also has all of the human “feels”, plus some smoking sexy times.

OMG first book in the new Huckleberry Valley Shifter series by Liv Brywood. Wyatt is a retired army that is trying to get his life together after coming out of service and find himself on Vern farm. One day he’s chasing cattle in a snowy pasture and comes across a injured calf and her mama. They call vet in and Wyatt meets Melody a saucy women that turns out to be her mate. Absolutely love Liv Brywood. She’s an a amazing shifter writer but also mix’s in strong sexy cowboy beautifully. Can not wait for more in this new series
Loved the characters. Wyatt is a retired military man and Melody is a vet. These two have their own issues and have to get past them Wyatt has your emotions going all over the place. The guilt he feels being a survivor. Melody is a shifter/empath her bear knows that Wyatt is her mate but Melody fights it and thinks she should run and fast. You cannot beat fate no matter how hard you try. I love this authors books. This is the first in a new series.

Wyatt served in the military. He's now back home. Unfortunately Wyatt didn't return the same as he left. Wyatt came back with scars. Internal scars. PTSD. Wyatt spends his days hiding out on his friends ranch. Wyatt doesn't know how to live again. Veterinarian Melody comes to tend to a sounded calf. Interest sparks on both sides. Melody lights a spark within Wyatt and makes him want to be among the living.

OMG, I loved reading this story. It smacked the crap out of so many feels, but, it needed to be done. I read this author Curvy Bear Series, so I knew I needed to set aside uninterrupted time so I could get totally engrossed in this story. This book being the start of a new series, YEAH!!, and had to setup the backdrop, and the persons, so each book could just flow one story to the next. Love this new storyline, but sighed happily the ending! So looking forward to the next book!!
Wyatt has issues. He has returned from the military a broken man. Something happened and half of his team died due to an IED and he blames himself. He works on a farm now and stays to himself. When a vet gets called to the ranch he meets Melody. His and her bear believe they are mates. Eventhough Melody is willing to give a relationship a try, he is not. He has too much guilt and doesn't feel worthy. The story is good. I will most definitely be reading the next book when it comes out.
I fully enjoyed read this new seires. Having family that have come back from tge military with Ptsd I was wondering how this would play out. Will it be believable and would it hit home. I loved the character Melody and what she brought to the story. Wyatt is definitely a work in progress but so lovable and he needed that understanding that Melody could bring. Now will he let her in or will he close off as usual. Man this was such a good story to read you wont be disappointed.

This novella is sweet, steamy and makes you think. This really makes you wonder about the soldiers coming back from war really go through and how difficult adjusting back to life really is. I cannot wait to see if there will be more set in this world with some of the other characters. I would also like to see Wyatt and Melody get their HEA.

A shifter bear veteran and a shifter bear vet meet and discoveries are made. I like the main characters -- well written, wounded but real life (except for the shifter part but this is fiction), strong but open to help others. The tapestry is woven and I sense more stories will be written (I hope to be in the front row for each and every book in the series). A standalone and a romance and more. Bravo!
I love Bear Shifter books and this one does not disappoint. It is a great story of two people falling in love despite their flaws. I spent the most awesome afternoon in their world watching their love unfold and loved all the characters in there. It has all the feels and I laughed, cried, swooned, everything. I'd recommend this wonderful read to all, you will love Melody & Wyatt's story. The book has a ptsd trigger part, just an fyi. I gave it 5 stars, so will you!
The first book in the Huckleberry Valley Shifters series, a great start to a new series. Cowboy bear shifter Wyatt Reynolds and vet Melody’s story of a man not able to forget what happened in Afghanistan and believes he is to blame. I enjoyed seeing this story come together. I especially liked Vern and Wyatt's Mother's part of the story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Cowbear's Fated Mate by Liv Brywood is a fantastic story that I have had the privilege to read and review. This is book number one in this fantastic new series and I can not wait to read the rest of this series. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about bear shifters and paranormal romance.

Everyone deserves someone to make them feel loved and cherished or even worthy. Wyatt comes home from the army and is a hot mess of a bear. Can Melody the local vet help him even though he thinks she is out of his league? He continues to push away from everyone. Great love story and characters.

If you enjoy shifter romance stories, this is the book and series for you. I can't wait to see what will come next in this series. You will enjoy this book.
I received this ARC from Bad Boy Updates. Wyatt is a hot, brooding bear-shifter hiding from everything on Verns ranch. Melody is the vet called to the ranch to help a calf, but she quickly wants to help Wyatt too. Their bear's want each other, but it will take everything Melody has to convince Wyatt to open up. Great story line and passionate characters make for a fabulous book!!
