In a world where the rules are gray and the Don's word is a law unto itself, only one thing is sacred… family.
Boris Novak watched four of his brothers find happiness with their fated mates, but never considered he might be that lucky. When a family member dragged in a fainting goat shifter suspected of working with their enemies, it took only one scent for Boris to recognize his mate and know that he’d fight anyone and anything to protect him.
Even if it meant fighting his own family.
One year ago, Gary never would have imagined being caught up in such a mess of crime bosses, turf wars, and smuggling. He’d never imagined anything beyond a quiet life. Until that life was stolen from him.
Together, the two find a wholeness that neither looked for, but deeply craved. But before they can find peace, they have to defeat the woman who killed Gary’s family and tried to kill Boris’s father. All while keeping Chicago from erupting into a street war, saving kidnapped kids, and avoiding the eye of the Feds.
This is the fourth book in this mpreg mafia series. Get ready for a world ruled by the Don’s iron fist, a fainting goat who is stronger than his instincts, and a family that stands together… no matter what. You can expect to find naughty, knotty scenes of steamy passion, along with a lot of potty-mouth language and more violence than you’re used to from us. But at its heart, you’ll still find all the fluffy mpreg feels and crazy antics you’d look for from Susi Hawke and Crista Crown.
I'm a total fan of M/PREG Paranormal Romances, first and foremost as a reader. I'm excited to share my own omegaverse(s) with you. What's not to love about adorable Omegas and the Alpha men who love them? If I'm not writing about men sporting baby bumps, I'm definitely reading about them!
I'm a native of Las Vegas, NV, so I'm pre-wired to love everything weird ~ although I don't find any kind of love to be weird. I'm a cis woman who's been happily married to the same lovable lug for 18 years. We have a 16yr old son, well, at least I think we do? Either that, or we have a ghost that eats all our food and uses up all wifi playing xbox while screaming into a headset.
As a new author, it's been amazing to find the amount of support that I've been given from readers and my fellow authors. Feel free to message me, I love to chat with fellow readers. Am I a reader? Heck yeah! In fact, I'm never certain that I can completely trust an author who isn't a fellow bibliophile.
I will try to update here when I'm doing promotional parties & chats. I usually do those on Facebook. If you haven't already signed up for my newsletter, you should totally do it! I only send out NL's to announce new releases or important announcements. I also like to note in my NL what I'm currently reading along with a cover shot and the link for anyone who is interested.
It was really nice to dive back into this series. This wasn’t my favorite, but it was fun! It was also a really great read to get me through this snow day. I loved Gary and Boris, there were really sweet together. I also loved that this particular book had a trans character and how that affected their shifter form! The one thing I didn’t like was the very unnecessary HP reference. But overall, this was fun. It’s getting three out of five stars.
This was by no means a less sweet story but there were bits I could tell I wanted to hear more from the authors. The whole escape mission was kind of glossed over and I desperately wanted to read more about that. The bit with Tanner’s sister felt all too random and a little too neat at the same time as well. There is also this scene that’s happened in the last three books that is starting to feel a little repetitive.
That being said Gary was pretty sweet and it was nice to see him open up and become more comfortable with the family and just how loud and rambunctious they could be. Getting to know Boris was also lovely. I like the strong silent types in my books and in life so it was a treat to read about him. I definitely could have used more romance this time but that may be just because I really liked the characters.
Worst book in the whole franchise. Let me explain.
First River is the best character in the franchise and if anyone has a problem with him they’re basically dead to me. Enter Gary. Yes I know river hogtied him and dragging him in like a prisoner, but bitch should be honored to be at the end of Rivers chain and still be alive (literally so ungrateful). Then he freaks everytime rivers nearby. Like fan girl: fine, but one should ever show river disrespect.
Second, Boris’s name is so close to boring which tracks because I couldn’t even tell you what his personality was besides quiet and boring.
I wish this book was about Pavlov. He’s such a good cookie and I want nothing but happiness for him. This book seemed to drag on and I wasn’t a huge fan. Also Gary’s freezing was giving me high key stress. Anywho I made it through and moving along.
From the first alpha series books, I have loved and read every book. The Novak series is just as amazing as all the rest. With a little comedy from fainting goats to lots of sexy time. This book is a great read from the very first page to the very last! Can’t wait for Misha’s story x
Love the Novaks!! I was wondering how Gary and Boris were going work...But they worked out beautifully. Gary turned out to be smart and sexy, and perfect for Boris. I really enjoyed this book! Can't wait for Mischa's book. I loved the O'Malleys...Patrick was hilarious!! When he cried over the whiskey...I was hollering😂😂😂😂....hate to see this series come to an end.
Boris finds his mate being interrogated by his family and his mate is not handling it well. This is the 4th book in the series of mobsters with hearts of gold and in it we go north to Canada and some surprises there, in Chicago the moose jokes a flowing. I really enjoyed this, all fans of these two wonderful authors will love catching up with the family.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the connection between Boris and Gary. I loved that Gary was a fainting goat as it’s such a different shifter than is usually present in shifter books. I thought that it was a brilliant idea about the peppermint oil that Leaf put under Boris’s nose after he scented Gary, because Gary had been through a traumatic situation and kept of freezing up so Leaf didn’t want Boris’s rut to happen so him and Gary could actually get to know each other before going into heat and rut. ‘M glad that Pavlo and Gary became fast friends as they both need someone to relate to them as they’re pretty traditional omegas whereas River is a force of his own, as far from traditional as you can be and Tanner is quite busy working with his graphic design clients. I loved to see Gary come out of his shell and stop freezing up due to fright but still excitement and I loved Gary and Don Frances chat during the night while they were both having a middle of the night snack, it was cool to see Don Frances open up a bit. I still really love the naming ceremonies and blessings that the Novak family do for the new babies, just as I did when they first did it in Silenced but they get even better in each book as the kids are involved and it’s so refreshing what the kids say. You can just feel the love between them all.
Man, it totally cracked me up when Patrick O’Malley was tearing up and let out an anguished wail after the building that held Canadian Maple Syrup, Irish Whiskey and Vodka was blown up. While looking at all the contents pouring out over the ground he said "Oh, the humanity. All that fine whiskey wasted. Jaysus, Mary, and Joseph but Saint Patrick himself would shed a tear at the alcohol abuse that's happened here today." Then when someone in the nearby building flicked a cigarette into the liquid his mourning turning into utter joy and he started laughing and said "That's it, my darling whiskey. You get your revenge for your untimely death. Look at you burn, my beauty. Burn, baby, burn!". Hopefully Patrick will get a story at some stage, maybe he’ll end up mated to someone from STAHP or maybe the O’Malley Family will get their own series in the future. Patrick’s a bit nuts so his mate will have to either be a grounding force or someone who likes giving out orders that will definitely be followed. I’m looking forward to reading Mischa’s story next as it’s definitely an O’Malley since all his brothers have found their mates on the different jobs they’ve been on. That should be interesting to see the Russian and Irish mafia families join together through his and his mate. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and both authors to everyone.
Bears, cats, foxes, wolves and fainting goats? Oh my!
What a great continuation of the Family Novak saga. I love this world! All my old friends are here. They welcomed me back into their lives. I didn't want to leave. This book begins where the last book ended. You need to read the first three books, they are fantastic. This episode has it all: all the Families, the brothers Novak & their mates, the crazy, evil Canadian women, fated mates, lots of kids, even the guys from STAHP. Ooh, and really hot sex. This is Boris and Gary's story. Boris discovered his fated mate when Gary was dragged into the house. Introductions and questions were put on hold when Gary stiffened and fell over. That's what fainting goats do. When it's learned that his 10 year old twin brothers are being held hostage by the Canadian women who are trying to pit the Families against each other, it becomes all hands on deck to rescue them. There will be an unexpected reunion, new allies, more twins, lots more kids to save, STAHP assistance, and a most unusual birthing scene. Boris & Gary do get HEA. But this series continues in the next book. I can't wait! You are gonna love this book! This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
To my ratings: A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:
5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King), it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series) it's like an A
3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in hospitals). I can recommend them definitively! It's like an B+
3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year), it's like a B
2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok) It's like a C-, D
1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole line, dismissed, repeat the class
It has definitely been an interesting and intense series, but it just keeps getting better and better. With awesome characters, hilarious banter, quirky antics, drama, angst, mystery, suspense, violence, and of course lots of cuddly kids, it's certainly not a book or series that you will want to miss! Although it's not necessary, I would highly recommend that you read the Team ALPHA & Alphabits series prior to beginning this one. They're both absolutely fantastic series', and you'll have a better understanding of the characters, the different groups, the dynamics between them, and learn how they all connect to each other. You definitely won't be disappointed! There are a lot of cross over characters from both of the other series, and you would benefit by learning more about all of them. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional authors.
This is a spin off series from Susi and Christa's amazing series ALPHA and AlphaBits. The Novak family are a Chicago Mafia family who are Bear shifters. This is book 4 in the series, although it could be read alone it would be better to read the books in order, if you can read the other two series as well, they are great. So this book we meet Boris Novak, huge bulky but in his eyes not book smart and quiet, but great with his hands. Family is everything. Gary, well he's a fainting goat, as soon as he's slightly scared he stiffens up and cannot move. Gary's father managed to get involved with the Canadian Moose Mafia and half his family were murdered, but his twin brothers (Larry & Barry) were kidnapped. The story is great, lots of action and the Chicago mafia family's unite in the battle against the Moose Mafia. Seriously you have to read it to believe it. Fantastic as always, Can't wait to start book 5.
Moose Mafia Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2021 Oh I can't stand it! These ladies are the best at putting together a story full of danger, romance, friendship, and fainting goats. They are so great at bringing out all aspects of a multi-dimensional character such as River.
The transformation from a terrifying, chain wielding, swaggering mob guy who's very voice evokes terror to a friend in need is a friend indeed. His prey went from a captured villain much hated by all to a loving mate protected and pampered.
I like meeting and watching all the main Mafia factions work together toward a shared goal of defeating a common enemy. Only two more books in this series - Noooooo!
I'm not sure why, but even in my days of reading historical romances (f\m), I have always had a thing for the anti-hero. The Family Novak series is an entire series about the anti-hero. As in you know they are mob, you know they do bad and morally ambiguous things, but you still love them. Sticky Ties, to me, really played this up. I mean Gary was literally brutally abducted (River and his chain), but Boris knew he was his mate, so the beat down for info, which was implied, didn't happen. Anyway, the story was great and entertaining, it was well written, and last but not least I cannot wait for more! Honestly!
I think this is the best written book of the Novak series, so far. This is Boris and Gary's (who we met in Trivial Ties) story.
This book takes us through the completion of finding those who are trying to start a turf war between the families of Chicago, how they are dealt with, and all the way to far North Canada where they rescue children in a child labor work camp.
This book is sweet, funny and sentimental (those blessings get me everytime). And as always, Susi and Crista leave you wanting more of the Novak family and their zaniness.
Again, and again, Ms Hawke and Ms Crown, showed us their genius in creating this complex and wide world where there is not black and white but different shades of gray. Boris and Gary as a fated mates found themselves in the middle of a war, full of chaos and danger, but as Gary discovered also full of love and the meaning of family. Another masterpiece in this series. Loved it!!
As a P.S. I would like to add, that as a physician, I was fascinated by how the authors managed the fainting goat condition, simply brilliant!!
Wow this book was good! I laughed a lot and absolutely enjoyed it, even when I had my doubts about the fainting goat!
Character breakdown;
Boris: I loved him he was absolutely adorable, but that throwing up? Man! Lol
Gary: I actually felt bad for him for being a fairing host BUT he was amazing and I absolutely adored him!
The story was funny, and it was so nice to get to know Harmony. I do wish her well. I can't wait for the next book though, I love me some Irish shenanigans! Lol
I really like this main storyline. It was action packed and full of surprises. As with this whole series, the romance leaves a bunch to be desired but the overall story is so good I kind of forgive that.
My biggest complaint was that thought some moments felt very artificial. The authors needed something so have a plot device but I found that I wasn't as annoyed because this whole world is magical so I explained it away with the wave of a hand.
I hate that ending! Talk about a cliffhanger! I need the next book STAT!
*WARNING* contains adult m/m situations Oh my gosh, that blessing though! Yup, it had the tears flowing. Anyway, I'm getting ahead of myself. These characters are awesome! They are a shifter mafia and tough as nails, but if you're family or considered family, then the Novak men are just teddy bears. A fainting goat shifter? That's incredibly inconvenient, but pretty funny and I would imagine that they're super adorable too! This series should be read in order and this is just to good to miss any of the action, blessings, lovin', well you just don't want to miss anything!
When Boris meets his fated mate he is in chains being dragged by River. As the Novak's discover that Gary a fainting goat is as much a victim as anyone they vow to help him reunite with his brother's who are being held by the baddies. This book finally discloses who is behind the prospect of a civil war between the main families.
Susi has written another enthralling Free Kindle Unlimited installment in The Family Novak saga. Be warned there is another cliffhanger ending. Roll on the next book.
The hardest thing about this series, and the ones before it,is waiting for the next book. I love the way characters from previous books are part of each new one, but it isn't repetitive or leaving the reader feeling as if they've missed something. Even when I haven't read them in order I didn't feel as if I missed something. I DO hope The Don gets his own book! I'd I'd love to read Trouble's story!
Another Great story in the world of Susi and Crista with the Novak family.
I loved Gary and Boris. Their story is a little more heartbreaking and heart-warming than some of the others. I really loved them both and how loving and trusting they are with each other.
I laughed out loud at a few of the things happening to them, especially at the end. So good. And the blessing was so so sweet.
Gary a fainting goat, found himself in home of the Novak's, with his fated mate Boris. Having to explain between fainting spells that he was forced to work for the syrup smugglers. As the story goes a rescue was in order and it involved all the families. Still loving this series.
This was such a compelling read. Boris finds his mate, Gary, who is a fainting goat shifter. His body locks up every time he is scared or nervous, which I found to be quite unique. There was so much that happened in this addition of, The Novaks, so I won't even begin to summarize it, however, I will say that it was truly compelling yet also very heartfelt. I loved it.
I liked the complications of Gary's fainting goat side and it was sweet how caring Boris was towards him. I liked that the antagonist from the last book has been wrapped up, or at least seemingly wrapped up. I don't know what's going to happen in the next book! I really enjoyed Patrick as a side character and I wish he was Misha's mate so I could read more of him.
Boris and Gary were so cute. I loved that the quiet brother got such a cute mate. While their first meeting wasn't ideal, it turned out ok. Expect the same crazy Novak antics.
I love this book. Both Gary and Boris complimented each other well. I found them cute and even very sweet as a couple. I loved that they relied on each other just that right amount. I'm intrigued and can't wait to see what's in store next.:)
I love the books. I have almost all of them. This is the series i have been finishing. I am itching for the next book. I just finished this one and was looking for the next
Sticky Ties is the fourth book in The Family Novak series by Susi Hawke and Crista Crown. This is an exciting shifter mpreg with adventure, suspense, humor, action, heat, and family. Borisov and Gary ste great...Love them!!! This series is so much fun!
Omg, there are so many kinds of shifters in this! Boris is a total sweetie, even as a big bad Novak bear, and Gary is a brave goat, even though he locks up.
